  • Camcorder is not recognized

    Running W7 Home Prem; 32 bit. previously this PC was under Vista Home Prem 32-BIT and my Panasonic DV camcorder using the same material and the same Firewire cable has been recognized and I was able to use Windows Movie maker and video transfer on my PC Studio.

    I just connected my Panasonic DV camcorder to my PC which is now underway for the 1st time in W7.  I hear the Windows sound recognizing (again, using Firewire) connection, I see the 'Installing device driver' Popup in the taskbar, then 'device installed and ready to use.  I open Movie Maker and Studio transfer, nor see the camcorder software.  I open MY COMPUTER, the camera is not displayed.  I open the Device Manager, under imaging devices I see 1) Panasonic DV camcorder Panasonic 2) vendor Unique subunit.  Both show "device is functioning properly.  I ran the driver UPDATE... it shows the installed the most recent driver.

    How is it that the camcorder is seen in the Device Manager and watch running properly again does not appear in MY COMPUTER?  I contacted Panasonic, they advise, that no driver is available or necessary for this camcorder to run under W7 as connection W7 will assign a driver, what he does as described above and which he made when I am running Vista.

    When I used the camcorder in Vista I don't remember see the "Panasonic vendor Unique subunit" in Device Manager... obviously it is installed by W7 and the DV Panasonic camcorder when the camcorder is connected to my PC.

    Until I can get this camera to display in MY COMPUTER I won't be able to transfer video from your camcorder in any video in my PC software.

    I hope that someone has experienced this problem and the resolution.

    I thought that codec was only for Audio playback problems...

    I have read the article on the link and don't see anything referring to the camcorder drivers\Windows 7...

  • D230 JVC DV camcorder suddenly not recognized by the computer

    I have a JVC D230 DV camcorder. I have had it for several years and have never had a problem connecting to my computer. Yesterday, I tried to connect the camera to my computer via USB. The computer does not recognize the camera. In a few moments, a message appeared on the screen that a new JVC driver had to be downloaded and installed, and that the camera wouldn't work if it was done. I downloaded and installed the driver. The computer still does not recognize the camera. I contacted JVC. The answer was the following: "JVC does not all drivers for Windows Vista." They suggested that my problem is caused by a Windows Update. I would like to know if something is known on this problem. It seems unlikely that I am the only person suddenly unable to download videos and images from a camera to a computer. The last time that I downloaded from my camera to my computer was in May. I have not had any trouble.

    Thank you.

    JVC advised me to connect the camera to the computer with a firewire cable that this connection uses no drivers.  Fortunately, it worked.  Thank you for the help and advice you gave me.

  • Re: Satellite A205-S5825 - not recognized by firewire DV camcorder

    I have a Satellite A205-S5825 and I can't recognize my Canon DV camcorder connected by a firewire cable.

    The same camera works perfectly with my desktop PC. My wife also has a Satellite, an A215 and it does not recognize the camcorder either. All 3 computers are running XP SP3.

    Can anyone throw any light on this? I really want to use my laptop for video editing, as my office is somewhere else.

    Thanks in advance

    What do you mean with the camera is not recognized? You get a notification that a device is connected or you see an unknown device in Device Manager?
    Have you installed the software for the camera?

    Maybe you can solve the problem with an update of the BIOS. Check this on the Toshiba site:

  • FireWire devices are most recognized. External hard drive and the camcorder will not connect.

    My computer no longer recognizes the firewire devices that I connect to it.  The Device Manager shows the driver 1394 work very well.  I even deleted and reinstalled Windows XP.  My external hard drive so my camcorder are more recognized when I plug them cold or hot plug.  Two of them have worked very well for more than 4 years and now for some unknown reason, that they stopped just recognized.

    How can I get Windows XP to see again them?   I've tried everything.

  • Camera connected DV Firewire/IEEE 1394 is not recognized - Qosmio F20

    Hi - I wonder if anyone has any advice on the following points.

    I have a Qosmio F20 running XP Media Center.
    I have a JVC GR-DVM5 (old but good) camcorder with an i.Link/1394 port. Connecting a DV camera to the PCs 1394 port via a firewire cable 4 pin should recognized the camera as a device of additional hardware and install automatically.

    However, the device is not recognized. Even try to be creating the device in applications such as Movie Maker, WinDVD creator, etc., does not work and the unit is not picked up by these.

    All things were created according to the JVC user manual, the 1394 port works well (depending on Device Manager), and the driver is up-to-date.

    According to Microsoft, the appropriate drivers are included in XP (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300459/en-us - but still MS have failed to confirm to me that this applies to XP MCE as well as professional and Home editions.)

    Can anyone provide any help! ??

    JB

    It is the right word. I have connected my older Sony camcorder via firewire to Qosmio G20 and the camcorder is recognized correctly (Sony cam was listed in Device Manager). I was able to copy all saved on the HARD drive movies and create DVDs later.

    Believe me it's very interesting that all devices Sony I have connected with Qosmio laptop computer were recognized correctly (two camcorders different and two digital cameras). I really don't understand what's wrong with your JVC cam.

    I ve checked a digital video forum and a guy with the same problem reported that he was able to connect the cam when the cam is placed in the docking station. Can you please try the same thing?

    Of course, the cam must be turned on.

  • DCR-TRV460 USB connection not recognized

    Connection USB DCR-TRV460 is not recognized by Windows 7 Home Premium.

    According to Sony, it is not supported and no downloads are available.

    My daughter was married last week. His entire marriage is recorded on the tape in the camcorder above. Not realizing there is a problem downloading the pictures stored in the computer, I'm mortified loss. I expect to transfer, edit, and create several DVDs for the family.

    Please, can someone help me with a solution to this problem? I'm desperate!

    Thank you for your message.
    The DCR-TRV460, unfortunately, is not compatible with the windows operating system 7. If you used a stick of memory to record the video, then you can just insert the memory stick on your computer. Assuming that you used the Ribbon, your other option is to connect the camcorder to a compatible PC and transfer the video files to a memory stick or CD. You can download the files on your own pc to edit and make more copies. I suggest to use the memory stick in the camera so that you can easily download files on your home pc

  • HDR HC3 be not recognized by computer with XP

    My computer does not recognize my camera which is a sony HDR HC3

    If the USB connection is not recognized, try the following steps:

    • Make sure a Memory Stick is inserted and recognized correctly by the camcorder;

    • Slide the MODE switch repeatedly until the PLAY/EDIT is on;

    • Value [USB SELECT] [Memory Stick];

    • Disconnect other devices to your computer;

    • Try a different USB port. If you are using a desktop computer, try the USB ports at the back of the CPU Tower.

    • Try a different USB cable, if possible;

    • Press the RESET button using a pointed object. The RESET button is located on the front of the lid of the cassette compartment.

  • DCR-SR85 is not recognized by Win7 64-bit

    I have a DCR-SR85 camcorder and currently a Win - 7 64-bit computer.

    DCR-SR85 have the USB port and the AV/R. When I connect the camcorder to my computer with the USB cable, it automatically displays a menu for USB (HDD) CONNECTION, connect USB (MEDIA) options PRINT & BURN DISC. Based on the results of USB-PLUG just 'preparation' options to display on the LCD of the camera - but nothing else happens and the computer does not recognize the camcorder.

    I tried with several USB Ports, Win 7 (32 bit as 64-bit) different computers, different USB cables - its all have the same result.

    All my other devices recognized by using these cables & USB ports, no problem.

    I've seen a compatibility page Streaming USB is not compatible with Win 7 but only see PMB or PlayMemories are compatible with my model of camcorder (DCR-SR85) & Win - 7 (32-bit as 64-bit), so I assume that the USB cable should work.

    Some experts can shed light on how solve my problem and get the camcorder to be recognized by the computer, via USB CONNECT?

    Hi Shaun,

    Appreciate your response.

    As mentioned in my original post, I already tried with several USB cables as well as another USB Port on my computer & different computers (unfortunately all Win7 - 32-bit or 64-bit). None of them helped.

    I also tried the factory reset option - also not helped.

    As mentioned, when I connect via USB & select CONNECTION USB [HARD drive], the screen of the camcorder shows just "PREPARATION" - what needs to be done to fix this & happen to recognize each other (computer & Camcoder)?

    I have several years of content captured on my drive hard camcorder and will hate to lose them.

    You will appreciate all the assistance to be able to access them again - other than just viewing on the camcorder.

    My computer with Windows 7 Prof 64 bit doesn't recognize firewire devices that I connect to it.  Device Manager displays the drivers 1394 work very well.  My WD external hard drive so my Sony HDR HC5 camcorder are more recognized when I plug them cold or hot plug. I have replaced the cables, uninstalled the drivers and reinstall them without any result.

    Hi DMJ06,

    Thanks for your post.

    If the manufacturer indicates a hardware failure on the device, it is likely, it is accurate.

    If it does not work on any of your computers, it's a strong argument for their suggestion.

    I propose to repair the unit if possible.
