    ·          What browser do you use to connect to the Internet?

The error may occur if the wrong printer is set as default, the printer driver printer is missing, or if there are conflicts in Device Manager.

  • Connection failure: unknown username or bad password

I use Thunderbird without problem for businesses for nearly eight years. I currently run at the top of a tower with Windows 7 Pro. There is only a single account/e-mail address on Thunderbird.

This morning when I went to check my e-mail I have my password is requested, then received the error 'sending of password did not. Mail server exchange.company.com replied: connection failure: unknown username or bad password. "I retried the password, restart Thunderbird and tried again, but still not received the same error. I sent an email from Thunderbird test which was very good. I am also able to connect to the server via web browser and I am able to send and receive emails on my mobile device.

I erased all the saved passwords of Thunderbird and I checked account settings, but I am still unable to download any email Thunderbird.

Apart from the deletion of the account, I don't really know what to do here. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you.

The problem has been resolved. Apparently the POP stack had to be reset by the side of the Exchange.

    Sorry if this wrong topic.

My account is a regular account. An admin account is active.

Having only one administrator account puts you in a precarious position because it leaves you with no alternative in case something goes wrong with this unique account. What happens when you try these options:

    • Keep her tapping F8 during startup, and then start safe mode.
    • Keep her tapping F8 during startup, and then start in Repair Mode.
Can you log in under the admin account in one or two of these cases?
For how long have you had this problem?

  • Unable to connect to a Samba file server. error "the connection failure: unknown username or bad password?"

Original title: I can't connect to a server to Samba from Windows 7 files

I used to use a Mac machine to connect to a file server Samba as smb://myfileserver.mycompany. Now I use a PC with Windows 7 Professional and when I write the address on Explorer as \\myfileserver.mycompany it opens a pop-up to enter my credentials, but when I put my authentication information and click ok, it reminds me the pop-up to try again with a message stating "connection failure: unknown username or bad password.'. '.

I tried several times but still the same result.

Is there another way to do this?

Is there a third party app that will do this job?

    Thank you.

Once a week a few posters noted a problem similar to yours. In this case, I post the answer you see below. The little that I find very irritating that in each case, without exception, the poster was not able to return and account for the results, either because they found my recipe too difficult to follow, or because he or she lost interest, he or she could not be bothered to post a few comments for the benefit of other people with the same problem. There it is again...

I do not know why you can not change this password, but maybe this method will shed light on the question:

    1. Safe boot mode.
    2. Click Start.
    3. Type the three letters cmd into the search box.
    4. Press Ctrl + Shift + Enter
    5. Click on "Run as Administrator".
    6. Type the following commands and press ENTER after each one:
'John Doe' ppp NET user / add
(to create an account called "John Doe" with the ppp password)
      net localgroup administrators/add "John Doe"
(to promote "John Doe" to the Administrators group)
      net localgroup administrators/del 'John Doe'

  • connection failure: unknown username or bad password. Windows 7 computer tries to connect to Vista

I bought a PC W7 and tries to connect to other computers on the network. I can connect to one, cannot connect to the other, but see them as well in the network and sharing Center/view network computers and devices. When I try to log into the device poor, the system automatically changes the ID of the user - I'm on ADMIN, try to connect to GUEST - it varies from my sign in COMMENTS to ADMIN_PC\GUEST.

I connect to the local network of the W7 machine wireless. Vista machine I can connect is connected via the ethernet connection to the router. The machine, I can see, but cannot connect to is connected to a switch via ethernet and then connected by ethernet to the router.

After reading discussion forums, it seems that this problem could be resolved through amendments to the local security policy - network security: LAN Manager authentication level, but I can't find where to do this.

I'm at the end of my thether - I believed the hype and thought that W7 would be easy to use. What should I do to get this thing to work?

You don't need to change anything with LAN Manager. The problem is probably related to point C below. Here are the steps of general network troubleshooting. Just cannot apply to your situation, so just take the bits that are. It may seem daunting, but if you follow the steps in the links and suggestions below calmly and consistently, you will have no difficulty to implement your sharing.

Problems sharing files between computers on a network are usually caused by 1) a misconfigured firewall or a firewall neglected (including a dynamic firewall in a virtual private network); or (2) inadvertently run two firewalls such as the firewall of Windows and a third-party firewall. and/or (3) do not have accounts to the same users and passwords on all computers in the workgroup. (4) tries to create actions where the operating system does not.

In Windows 7, go to control panel > everything in Control Panel > network and sharing Center. Click on "change the advanced sharing settings. You don't want to use the residential group unless you have all Windows 7 machines. If you do and you want to use the homegroup, see Windows 7 Help & Support. Otherwise, in sharing advanced:

Discovery of plug in the network
Open the files and printers sharing
Turn on the sharing section Public folder sharing
    Plug the password protected sharing

    A. configure the firewall on all machines to allow traffic to local area network (LAN) as being approved. With the Windows Firewall, turning on window file sharing and printer as the above will take care of that for you. In XP, you can run the Network Setup Wizard or just enable file sharing / print in the Windows XP firewall exceptions. If you are not running a third-party firewall or you have an antivirus/security with its own firewall component program, then you're fine.  With a third-party firewall, I usually set up the allocation of LAN with an IP address range. E.g. would be 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.254. Obviously you would substitute your correct subnet. Refer to the safety of any third party program or the user forums for how to correctly configure its firewall. Do not run more than one firewall. DON'T STOP FIREWALLS; CONFIGURE THEM CORRECTLY.

    (B) to facilitate the Organization, put all computers in the same workgroup. This is done from the System applet in Control Panel, the computer name tab.

    C. create the counterpart of the user accounts and passwords on all machines. You do not need to be logged into the same account on all machines and assigned to each user account passwords can be different; accounts/passwords just need to exist and to match on all machines. DO NOT NEGLECT TO CREATE PASSWORDS, EVEN IF ONLY OF SIMPLE. If you want a machine to boot directly to the desktop (a particular user account) for convenience, you can do this:

Start > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).

XP - set up Windows to automatically connect (MVP Ramesh) - http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Autologon.htm

    D. Si one or more of the computers on your network are XP Pro or Media Center, turn off Simple file sharing (Folder Options > view tab).

    E. create share as you wish. In Windows 7 I usually share the Desktop of the user and the Public directory.

    Hello

This is something new, I am facing to where I am not able to connect to a main network of airport extreme, but can connect to the network of comments. Guest network works perfectly fine while the main network does not connect to devices in the home. I also found that none of my base stations are visible in the airport utility (I Airpot extreme and Airport Express on the same network). Help, please.

The first step in troubleshooting with this type of problem is to perform a complete network power cycle on your network. If you decide to do...

Power off all the devices on your network... modem, routers, computers, printers, etc... in any order you want.

    Wait a minute

Turn on the modem first and leave a few minutes, he managed by itself

Turn on the next device that is connected to a modem and leaves turn a good minute

Keep turn on devices one by one at a time, one minute apart, until the entire network is back

Recheck the network and report on your results
