I can't access the startup folder

My computer has been terribly slow. It runs Windows Vista Ultimate Service Pack 2.
I thought to reduce the number of startup programs.
Click on the change of starting programs in control.
I get the message in a window pops up: Windows Defender is disabled. She added turn on and open windows defender.
When I click on this link: I get the Windows of your authorization needs to continue. When I click on allow that I get the message «Windows defender...» »
I'm kind of a loop.
In a nutshell, that's the problem.

Another way to access the startup programs.

Attention... Make sure you understand the function of the program UNTIL you turn it off.

Start > Search box, type msconfig > Enter > Startup tab > here is the list of startup programs.

to disable... Uncheck the box in front.

to activate the checkbox....

Click OK when finished.

I had a user account under 'Pierre' (I am the only user/administrator) in which there were many folders (travel, photos, music,...). This folder/account is not accessible and visible in the Solution Explorer. Yet, when I do a search under 'C' it is still there under c/users and I can copy files and folders from there to store them in a different folder where I do not have access to the future.

How can I do this immediately accessible account again under explore with all the data that was there without recourse to this procedure of workaround/copy of humungus? Dozen thank you!

What you reference is not an account, but a profile folder. It's probably hidden. You now need to tell Windows Explorer to show hidden folders: Tools / Folder Options / view / show hidden files, folders and drives. When you see then it again, by that you can view it right click it and checking its properties.

To be the only 'administrator': it is a very risky way of running things. In this forum we receive a flood of requests from people whose one and only admin account has failed for some reason any. Plan in advance and creating, testing and documenting an alternative admin account would you save a lot of trouble.

  • Safe mode, so I can not access the Services via a Normal startup.

Services, including Security Center, Windows Update, SuperFetch needs to be restarted but Vista freezes outside Mode safe, so I can't access the Services via a Normal startup.
CHKDSK shows the hard drive has no bad points and the system works fine in Safe Mode.
No idea how to deal to freeze shortly after startup? Even McAfee should be started. No idea what order to these programs.

    Hello

    1. don't you make changes to the computer until the problem occurred?

I suggest you to try the steps below and check if it helps.

Try to put your computer in a clean boot state, and check to see if the same problem happens.

By setting your boot system minimum state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows XP:

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

  • Why I can't in my startup folder?

Windows 7 is driving me crazy...

When certain programs are installed, they automatically add a shortcut to the startup folder. I am the sole owner of this computer and am the administrator, but am not allowed access to the startup folder. When I go to permissions, it shows that I have total control, but I can't in your startup folder to remove the programs that automatically start running at startup... they are programs access occasionally and not must not be running in the background.

The error I get is: "you have been denied access to this folder."

In fire happens? How to do this? I need to access everything on my computer... it's a personal computer in my house and I am the only man who lives here.

All the while that I messed around trying to understand this crappy little computer, I bought just trying to function while I installed a new motherboard and the hard drive of my main computer, I could have built 3 computers from scratch.

Why am I not authorized competition control of my computer when I State permissions full control of him?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give. Windows seems to get worse with every edition since XP. Fortunately, I missed Vista, when I bought my last computer I was able to downgrade from Vista to XP... but it seems if it must be my backup computer, I need help because he won't let me do anything I'm used to doing.

    Can someone help me?

Which is why when I clicked on the shortcut to settings & Documents and even the local settings shortcut I got access denied. It starts to come together for me.

With your help, I'm starting to find my way in the fog that this computer had me in since I brought home. Course I had spent the time to rebuild my main machine I spent trying to learn my way around Win7, I'd be in business with XP again. That became a challenge for me, so I'll probably continue to dig around in the bowels of Win7 until I have it down pat.

Once again, I appreciate all the help you gave me.

  • Cannot access the Media folder via App IOS Readycloud

I have a RN204 4.6.2 running in an OSX system which will not allow access to the Media folder via the IOS app on iPhone or iPad. I can access the media folder via the ReadyCloud portal or the finder on MAC without problem, but the IOS App shows "Access Denied" and requests user & password, which, when entered, does not. I can access all other folders via the application, just not the media folder. Permissions are set the same as the other issues so I'm not sure what the question is that if she's Readycloud app for IOS. I guess the user & password requested is for NAS, although I tried the credientals of Readycloud just for fun but no help. As a note, I don't get "Connection failed" but "Access Denied", so the network access is OK but access to the file is doesn't understand why all other folders are accessible but not the media folder. And that's on both VPN connections & local. Any ideas?

OK, get it fixed. I have changed the name of the folder, allowed full access, then he changed the name of moose. Now I can access the folder via the ios app. I'll have to rescan the actions in my media streamer, but to the East, I now access app.

I do not use homegroups, but 'true' to share, so I don't know how this is supposed to work with homegroups. But usually he should share a drive or folder, first before you can access it from another machine. (for example, click on the drive/folder properties and go to the sharing tab)

Miss me the windows system32 rundll32.exe. I can't access the Add/Remove in the control panel.

I tried to start - run with my c/d operating system

    I checked for viruses

I purchase software to remove etc and REG files.

    Now that the devil do?

    Thank you

    If this

I tried to start - run with my c/d operating system

means that you have tried to use sfc/scannow from start > run, your experience is not surprising.  This 'solution' is often suggested by people who don't really understand what this command does.  It does not help to restore a missing rundll32.exe file.

    For what is

    I checked for viruses

What is the name and version of your anti-virus application?  When (approximately) their subscription expires? What other antimalware applications installed?  What other antimalware applications you used recently to scan your computer?

If you have not yet used the "software to remove the REG files and etc." return for refund or throw it out.  "Registry cleaners", 'tuners', etc. are not useful.  If you used to "clean" the registry, use its "undo" feature (if it has one) to restore the registry.  Longtime MS MVP PA Bear:

TIP: If you still think again your registry database must be cleaned, repaired, amplified, to the point, healed, twisted, fixed, enlarged, "swept" or optimized (it isn't), read http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=28099 and draw your own conclusions. See also http://blogs.technet.com/markrussinovich/archive/2005/10/02/registry-junk-a-windows-fact-of-life.aspx

What probably happened is that your antivirus application deleted or quarantined in your file rundll32.exe thinking he was infected.  He could have, but probably not.  In any case, read the post that begins, "That 'solution' is not on my list." in the following thread: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-performance/systemrundllexe-not-found/6e30aff2-a88e-4d86-a654-753d54f632d1 you can also read the rest of the posts in this thread.

Note that c:\windows\system32\dllcache is a hidden folder, but you who type in the address bar of Windows Explorer (or copy and paste), the folder should open anyway.

Assuming you manage to restore rundll32.exe, download, install, update and run full scans (not at the same time) with each of the following free tools.

    MalwareBytes AntiMalware
    SUPERAntiSpyware

Go to your computer manufacturer's support web site
and search for the Windows XP drivers for your specific computer or motherboard model number.

If there are Windows XP drivers, then download to a folder on your hard drive and burn it to a CD/DVD.
Then, after installing XP install all device drivers, starting with the card mother/chipset drivers.
LAN, Audio, USB, SATA, etc, and so on.

Note: If there is no XP driver listed, then your computer is not compatible Windows XP.

I am running Vista Home Basic. When I click on the Start button, click programs, right-click the startup folder, and then clickOpen it does not open the startup folder. Instead, it opens a search window Active legends. How can I fix?

Go to the startup folder and right-click on it and click Proprties and then click on the location and enter C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup.  Click OK.  When you click Open the next time it should now open the folder that corresponds to your startup folder.

    I hope this helps.
