I can't log on to windows in normal mode.

Hi, I am running 32-bit vista and my computer froze on me earlier so I turned off and restarted. but I was unable to boot in normal mode, it does not load in the user log in page where you would put your password to log on windows. so right now I'm in safe mode, I tried a virus check and found nothing, I tried to reinstall windows, but once again counld not obtained in the menu options because it does not ship upward. I also tried restoring the system and a disk check, but nothing works. Any help please! Thank you

Do you know when this problem started?  Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started.  Here is the procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/.  Don't forget to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points.  If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two.  NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates. You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.

If the system restore does not work, do a startup repair, boot from the disk Installation of Windows Vista genuine (or one that you can borrow from someone) or a recovery disc.  Here is the procedure: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html.

If you do not have a floppy disk, you can make a bootable recovery disk by using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD.

If this does not work, try to start in safe mode (repeatedly hit F8 key so that the start and go in safe mode with networking).  Then we will check some of your system files:

Go to start / all programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

Type sfc/scannow, go and let it run.  It will scan and try to correct some of your system files.  If all goes well he comes complete with no corruption, it could not repair (if it has these post of corruption here or try to analyze it to find the problem or files using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228.

While in the command prompt, type chkdsk /f /r and enter and let it run.  It will scan and try to solve any corruption or bad sectors on your hard drive and remove especially as a cause.

If it does not, then thanks for posting any repetitive error message in Event Viewer on startup (Start / Control Panel / administrative tools / Event Viewer).  Here's how to use Event Viewer: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic40108.html.

If this does not work, you will need to do a repair/system upgrade using the Windows Vista Installation disc authentic (you own or that you can borrow from someone).  Here is the procedure: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-vista.html as well as the upgrade from an earlier version of the Windows section of the following: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918884.  Although this will not affect your data, settings or programs, you should always back up your data before you start just be on the safe side. If other procedures do not work, it is almost certain to work.  You can have a lot of updates to re - install (including all you need to remove service packs).  If the version on system with SP1 or SP2 preinstalled cane and the disc is an earlier version, then you will need to do a slipstream drive as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/151606-vista-sp1-slipstream-installation-dvd.html.

I hope one of these procedures can solve your problem.  If this isn't the case, after return and we will try something else.  Return message anyway so we know how it turns out.

Good luck!

  • Cannot activate windows in safe mode, but blue schreens windows in Normal mode

I'm trying to reinstall Windows XP Home Edition on my Dell Inspiron 600 m laptop.  When he has finished with reinstall it it a blue screen when you try to start in windows Normal mode.  I found on the web that this problem has to do with hardware drivers and is resolved by installing service pack 1.  I can't install service pack 1 because when I start in safe mode and you click a user or administrator, it says this product must be enabled (which can be done in safe mode).  I'm stuck

How can I me is service pack 1 installed or this computer enabled if I can't start Normal or go beyond the notice of activation in safe mode?

Ok.  Here's what I had to do:

If you boot into safe mode (without network).  This would let me into safe mode without requiring activation immediately.  From there, I loaded service Pack2 of CD that allowed me to do the normal startup after that.

With network option was the hang up for me.  It would allow me to work in safe mode without immediately activating the software.

So I went to THIS problem.

Rami thank you for your help.

    Hello

Start the computer in safe mode and start the desktop.

Safe mode starts Windows with a limited set of files and drivers. Startup programs do not work in safe mode, and only the basic drivers needed to start Windows are installed.

Start your computer in SafeMode (Windows 7)

    Then perform the following steps:

A: right click on my computer, and then select Properties.

B: then go to Manager of devices and then, on the Action menu, click scan for hardware changes

    Hope that helps.

Shutdown problems (or logoff) are usually caused by a program or process that won't come out gracefully. The program or process may be against malware, or may be legitimate (for example a pervasive like Norton or McAfee antivirus). If you use Norton or McAfee product, uninstall it and replace it with a better program like NOD32, Kasperksy or Avast (free). The Windows Firewall is enough for most people. Shutdown problems can also be caused by old/badly written drivers so make sure that all drivers are updated, especially on Windows Vista and Windows 7.

A.the first step should always ensure that your computer is free of viruses/malware.

    B. If the computer is free of viruses/malware, the drivers are current, and no program Norton or McAfee is installed, then do boot minimum troubleshooting to see what program/process is the culprit:

  • MY LAPTOP IS ME TELLIN THAT THE WINDOW IS NOT GENUINE, SO I CAN'T LOG ON TO WINDOWS

    window does not

    Hi Lorenzo,.

This can be caused by one of the following:

    1. There is a lack of permissions in the key of registry HKU-1-5-20. The Network Service account must have full control and read on the registry key permissions.

    2. lack of registry keys. One or more of these registry keys may be missing:

    HKLM\software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Profilelist

    S-1-5-18
    S-1-5-19
    S-1-5-20

Perform the steps from the link below and see if it helps.

Windows 7 displays "Windows is not genuine" with a 0x80070005 error code

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

  • How can I restart you with active modules (Normal mode)?

I clicked on restart with disabled modules. Success.

Then I tried to restart with the active modules - but it is not an option for that. I expected "Restart with disabled modules" have changed to 'Restart with active modules', but it didn't.

It is not possible to activate them manually.

Grateful for any help, urgent if possible! Thank you.

If you went to help-> restart with Add-ons disabled, that puts you in Mode without failure of Firefox used for troubleshooting. All you have to do is to close Firefox then open a new instance of it.

  • Why I can't get online in safe mode with networking? Does not start in normal mode.

I can't get my computer starts in normal mode.  It starts only in safe mode.  I can choose the mode safe mode with networking so I can get online, but that's all... just safe mode.  Can I do to solve this problem?  I don't have a lot of money and a new computer is not an option at the present time.  Any help out there?  I have also no sound.  I tried to reinstall my windows xp, but it won't let me.  I have XP Pro and SP3.

    Hello splunk2011,

Please contact the Microsoft Answers forum with this problem!

After reading your post, my understanding of the issue is that you are unable to start in Normal Mode and as such, cannot be online within Mode safe mode with networking.

Because we can start in Mode safe mode with networking, this tells us that a driver or a program from loading at startup may cause the problem.  To solve this, I would try a clean boot.
