I have 2 1 GB ram sticks in my computer and it recognizes only 512 MB on each stick.

For some strange reason the pc will recognize that the 512 MB of each stick.

Can anyone tell or instruct me on how to solve this problem?

There is nothing wrong with your PC.

You bought a 1 GB kit which means you bought 2 x 512 MB = 1 GB chips.

You need a 2 GB kit which is 2 x 1 GB chips.

A common mistake made by many of us.

Remove one of the chips and you should see that it has 512 MB to this topic.
