I have an E4200 v1 or v2?

I just opened a fresh E4200 from Best Buy.  The box does not say v2 anywhere.  The box indicates the maximum speed is 300 + 450 Mbps.  The router itself does not say v2 anywhere.  These facts underscore in my reading, my router in v1.  And yet, the firmware is v2.0.26, I could update automatically from the console of the router to v2.0.36.  So I have a hard time labeled v2?  Or is it a poorly manufactured or modified v1 which accepts the v2 firmware?

I'll assume that it is v2, and let everyone know that there is a new S/N for v2 from 01C136 routers.

    Hello

I have an E4200 and upgraded to the Cloud Connect. It was buggy, and so I went down to the firmware before that.  I have all the computers works well in the House except my office.  It connects to the network, he can see the other computers on the network can still do a windows update. But when I go to use google chrome or internet explore it just won't connect to the internet.  Has anyone already experienced this? It does not work either if it's a wired or a wireless connection, it was fine before the upgrade downgrade and following. It is on this desk that I installed and uninstalled cloud connection thew.  I know enough to set up the network, but when it does not work... .so I'm lost for what to do. Help, please!

I did a restore of the system to a point before I upgraded to Cisco Connect Cloud, and that did the trick. Thank you for your willingness to help. All is well now.

  • To access the befw11s4v4 with active e4200

I have a Motorola modem cable with switch 8 ports, connected on it. I have also E4200 and BEFW11s4v4 connected to the switch. I used BEFW mainly ports to connect my directv box and blu - ray DVD player to the internet in another room.  I noticed a very good signal from befw11s4v4. I would like to turn it off or use the wifi b, but I forgot the password to it and I can not install befw11s4v4 with active E4200. (192.168.1.1 is taken by e4200). How can she (befw11s4v4)?  I don't want to reset befw11s4v4 because that would make its unsecured wifi. Can I use a laptop computer to install befw11s4v4 and change its IP 192.168.2.1 address, for example, but I would like to power access time (E4200 and befw11s4v4) to my desktop PC. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. Of course, I couldn't access two gateways with one LAN port on my desktop at the same time. I have connected my laptop to BEFW so I was able to transform the 'b's broadcast, which was not connect in any case. I use my old router BEFW for 'tax' reasons, it works very well with my directv box and blu - ray. Don't want to spend the money immediately on another switch or run another 50 ft. of cable.

  • EPC3925 & E4200 - incompatible WiFi

    Hello

    • On the ground floor, I have a modem cable of EPC3925 including Wifi.
    • On the 1st floor, I have an E4200 configured as an Access Point WiFi (with a bridged wired to the Ether).

When I'm on the ground floor with my iPhone, my WiFi is ok. When I walk on the first floor the WiFi on the iPhone becomes unstable (and don't go to the WiFi E4200). When I disable WiFi on the iPhone and turn it on again, the iPhone picks up the WiFi E4200.

How can I make sure that the devices move to the E4200 without turn off the WiFi on the device?

PS the SSID is the same and visible on both routers.

    Thanks in advance,

    SJW

No, unless your APs have the characteristic of quick transfer for seamless connection, iPhones and other wireless devices cannot automatically from one AP to another without waiting for the device to almost lose the signal completely.

  • Port Forward question e4200

I have an e4200 and love it.  Here's my question and I hope that the forum can help:

Background: directly connected (LAN) is a ReadyNAS Pro 6 Server.  I have a share that is configured to be a very simple through the port80 Web server.  The router is configured to direct all port 80 traffic (for example, http) to the server.  Wireless connected via Port 81 is a dlink (DCS 932 L) camera.  The port 443 (https) is transmitted also to the NAS (admin functions).  To help debug the problem, I created a portforward (1357), also on the NAS for https.  Created static IP: 192.168.1.10 and 192.168.1.11 (for the camera).  I also have a name of domain created by TZO that is active.

Other port forward: mydlink.com which is a dlink site that allows access to the camera dlink.  I also have a Plex Server (port 32400 I think) that works great.

Questions: On my network local (inside my house), enter, either http://mydomainname.com or http://NAS IP address gets me to the Web server and the homepage.  With: 81 takes me to the camera; : 443 or: 1357 takes me to the functions of the administrator of the server.  Is... all the works I want it.

Go outside the home: www.mydomainname.com takes me directly on port 81 and request the login/password for dlink camera (same for www.mydomainname.com:81 and www.mydomainname.com:80). https://www.mydomainname.com takes me to the connection of camera dlink, like https://www.mydomainname.com:443

https://www.mydomainname.com:1357 takes me on the server and the homepage and access for all functions.

I suspect the problem with DLink and mydlink (uses UPNP).  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you.

Thus, it seems that the camera works now. The Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) service in Microsoft Windows use discovery SSDP (Simple Protocol) Service to locate and connect to the services and network devices. There are security risks associated with these services, and on several occasions, these services were responsible for denial of widespread service of the host Windows campus. System and network security (SNS) recommend to disable UPnP/SSDP service on all Windows hosts and activation of the service only when necessary.

  • strength of router

I recently bought a new hp Pavilion wiith windows 8.je g6 laptlop have noticed lately the strength of my router is not as strong with this new laptop. The router is a Cisco Linksys WRT54G2 v1. Do ineedto upgrading to a new router and if so can I get a dose of recall for this router instead of upgradeing. Thanks Len

    Hi, Len

It is difficult to say if replacing the router will improve the force wireless, but your router is obsolete and map your laptop Wireless-N Wireless.

I recommend upgrade you to one of the new Wireless-N routers Linksys, so that your laptop can at least enjoy the faster connection.

I am told that the antennas are better too (even if you don't see them on a Linksys).

You will also need to use WPA2-Personal with AES encryption to use a Wireless N card to work on Wireless N speeds.

I wouldn't take not less than this model, but which belongs to you.

I have the E4200, which are older. Mine works fine.

  • E4200V2 isolation wireless - how to disable?

I have an E4200 v2 with the firmware 2.1.41.162351 (later from this post).

I would turn OFF the connected isolation wireless so I can RDP to either of my laptops wireless connected since my Wired post.

I can't find the option of isolated on this new interface 'cute '.  I wish I had bought a V1 with the interface of the old school.  This at least had USEFUL options instead of trying to sell me social applications for a fsckin router...

    What I've done so far:

    1. reset to factory settings.

2 checked that I can RDP to the laptop when connected via WIRED.

    3. the firewall is completely disabled (domain, public, and private networks) on BOTH computers so I tried RDP.

    4. no other protocols not working (ping, telnet to open ports known,

I am not opposed to OpenWRT or other replacements of firmware if it is not possible to change this setting in the provided OEM 'BONES to suck. "

OK, tried to remove the dashboard of the SSID.

    Still no luck.

I'll router shopping.  I will then break it into tiny pieces since apparently (intentionally?) Cisco/Linksys used Marpuke (ahem...) marvell chips here that do not work with OpenWRT.

I'm done buying cisco consumer crapola.

Thanks for the reply.  I think I'll just go build my own WAP/router on a laptop of alternative and a taken non-marcrap chipset supported under linux.

  • How to select the band in the 5 GHz for AE1000?

The product documentation for the said AE1000 you can select which group to use. However it does not seem to be an option to do. I have an E4200 and when I put in place, he gave my band 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz the same SSID. If I configure the AE1000 to connect to the SSID, it seems to connect to the 2.4 GHz band. Do I have to change the SSID for 5 GHz and initiate a connection with it manually? Why documentation is not this address?

Always have 2 different SSID. For example. HomeNetwork HomeNetwork5G always conflicted when you name the same thing you see.

  • E4200 w 2 - re1000 and still have problems with wireless coverage

I have a big enough House, 4500 square feet, and there a lot of bricks and stucko.  I wired ethernet ports in most of the rooms.

For my Apple TV and tower PC, PS3, I used a wired connections.

But we have a lot of devices without wireless, 4 laptops and 3 iphones, 3 ipads so good wireless coverage is a must.  I'm not looking for a budget solution, just the best solution that I can.  I also have a wireless baby monitor and an ATT Wireless TV receiver.  I have no end of problems with wireless on my devices.

Without a lot of research I boght a couple re1000 thought that would be the solution to my problem, but they don't really work as well as I would like.  I wish I had done my research as I think that the right solution is to have the other AP in the connection from the House to a 'hand' AP via wired connection (connection wired bridge mode?).  I could adjust only force and channel to maximize coverage for the House.

Here is what is a must:

    One SSID in the House

Everything must be on the same network.  I have a wired camera Foscam and use the features of the homegroup in windows.

Taking as a basis the e4200, what other should AP I buy to connect to the main via a wired connection?

I don't know how to close your home is to other houses, so I don't know if you might encounter interference from 2.4 ghz to your neighbors or other sources.

I see that WAP610 is not simultaneous... only selectable.  iPhones are only 2.4 ghz

Whatever it is, you can keep the same SSID for your entire network, but you may need to use different wireless channels.  Everything meets your criteria above.

The only unknown is your neighbors (and other sources) Wireless interference.

You can download inSSIDer, which will give you a better idea of what you're against, but it is not infallible.

  • Pavilion dv7. Intel Centrino Wireless-N 6150; Cisco E4200 router = No Wireless N connectivity

Hello everyone, I need big answers and great help. I recently bought a HP Pavilion laptop dv7, who has a card intel centrino wireless-n 6150 installed. My router is a Cisco E4200 5 GHz wireless router. The pity is that the laptop (dv7) does not recognize my Wireless N (not even standing next to the router). Does anyone have any idea or advice on how to make this work?

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hello

Intel Centrino Wireless - N 6150 is a single band card (this card is the product of WiFi only single band 802.11bgn in the Intel Centrino Wireless 6000 series).

Connect to the router, then activate the 2.4 GHz network (5 GHz network can be defined as being disabled).

When you do this your wireless card should find network.

Here you will find the guide of the user for the Linksys router.

  • Low-speed Internet with wired connection to E4200

I have a HP Pavilion p6347c AMD Athlon II X 4 630 2.80 GHz, 64 Bit, Windows 7 SP1 WITH 16 GB of Ram, using Comcast high speed Internet.

It works very well and I had no problem with my Pavilion until I replaced my old router G with a LinkSys E4200 (state-of-the-art, the top page of the router line N).  All the features work well, except that when I use Firefox 7.0 or Internet Explorer 9.0, the connection time is very very very slow when my computer is connected to my router with an Ethernet cable.  The problem disappears when I log - in using the same Ethernet cable - directly into the modem high speed; Then, the loading speeds are fast as lightning.  When I return to the router via a wired connection, even - page very very very slow post.

I've already spent about 8 sessions with LinkSys on the phone and chat, and it turns out that the router is not the problem (according to LinkSys).  They advised that I need to contact the manufacturer of the computer, or people who can respond to Windows 7 support issues.  Someone at - it ideas?  Maybe something I can change in the settings of the firewall, network, computer security options settings?

I connected my HP laptop running WINDOWS VISTA on the same Ethernet cable and disabled the wireless.  The speed of the wired connection is quick as a Flash - no problem at all.

Then why my desktop Windows 7 SP1 computer not offer me the same speed?  Whenever I need to do important online work, I have to unplug my Ethernet cable from the router and plug directly on the modem to get faster speeds.  I then reconnect to the router once completed, so that users without wire and devices on my network work.  It's very frustrating.

Help!  I am at a loss to understand why this computer has not faster to the Internet when wired to the router.  Is - this Windows 7?  There are some options that I need to change?  Someone at - he heard talk about this and you offer solutions?  Appreciate any assistance.  Thank you.  / Jacques novel /- [email protected]

P.S. Customer LinkSys was no contribution to this issue.  I hope that some tech "warned" this reading will say AH-HAH and offer a viable solution.

On a hunch, I selected the reset 'Factory Defaults' option in the Administration, after having updated the firmware. Something must have been damaged during the first attempt to install the router.

To reset the default settings, you must have the original Setup disk and re-install using the same router name and the password.

When this was done, the Ethernet connection worked perfectly.  Hope it will be useful to all having the same problem.
