I have an old computer around 11 years old con I have up datey windows vista home Premium to win 7?

I have a 11 year old pc and I would like to up grade my Vista Edition wonows Home premium to windows 7? is this possible?

If its equipped with Windows Vista, it will be probably upgrade to Windows 7, as long as you meet the minimum requirements of the system.

* 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x 86) or 64-bit (x 64) processor
* 1 gigabyte (GB) of RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
* 16 GB of disk space available (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
* Peripheral figure DirectX 9 with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

Also run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor:
http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/Windows-7/Upgrade-Advisor.aspx

Because Windows 7 is in limited stock because Microsoft ended sales in October 2013, this created demand due to its rarity. This means the retail boxed copies request a bonus, while the OEM System Builder copies remain affordable.

Full version (retail):

-Includes the rights of transfer to another computer.
-Does not require a qualifying earlier version of Windows.
-Expensive

Upgrade version (detail):

-Includes the rights of transfer to another computer.
-require a qualifying earlier version of Windows.
-Expensive, but less expensive full version

OEM System Builder version:

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:
-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft
-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on
-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard
-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

There is nothing wrong to use it too, especially that all future versions of Windows will be full versions.

You can find software OEM System Builder of dozens of online merchants. The current price for OEM Windows 7 Professional Newegg, for example, is $ 140. When I checked a few minutes ago, Amazon offered packages OEM Windows 7 Professional from several vendors at prices ranging from $ 101 to $ 150. When I checked earlier, a package designed especially for a refurbished PC cost only $50 to get a copy of 64-bit.
There is no technical limitation to prevent you from using OEM software on your computer, although this software only works for a clean install, not an upgrade. In the past, Microsoft has been remarkably inconsistent in his advice to clients on the question of whether this practice is allowed.

  • Have to reboot windows vista Home premium, but I have no recovery disk. What can I do?

I bought my computer in January Circuit City and as part of the purchase, they installed windows vista and other programs such as Norton Internet Security. Recently, my system has been "acting" and the folks at Symantec tell me I can get a worm who slipped in front of the protections. Because this worm was now hidden from detection and very probably damaged my registry files, they suggested I have reformat my system and reinstall all of the BONE upward. I searched through the discs that I got with my pc and I have everything EXCEPT the OS! Whats is worse because their people installed, I have the product identification code, but I think that there is another code for validation that I did not. Circuit City is out of business now and I don't know what to do. I know that my currently installed copy of vista is genuine, but what I need to know is that if there is a way I can reinstall vista on my pc without having to buy another copy?

    Hi lxlthr,

Please use the forum for Support of Vista,

Please check under your laptop or your desktop to locate a sticker with the product key for Windows Vista.  If they exist, you can probably use another copy of Vista to install, without making a purchase, a new product key.  If they are not located on this computer or anywhere you can find, then you need to get a different product key to reinstall the operating system.

Note: Formatting the hard drive will erase all data, programs and user settings you have on the computer. If there is no information on this computer and you don't want to lose, or is not guaranteed, you will need to make backups before proceeding with the INSTALLATION of FORMAT / CLEAN.

    Hope this helps,

Error code 37. I have a model CM5688 E gateway with Windows Vista Home Premium.  My Optiarc DVD RW AD - 7203 has left a couple of weeks of work.  Anyone have an idea how I can get it working again?

    Hi Sunday47,

There are many causes of Code 39 errors:

    ·         A required device driver is missing.

    ·         A required binary file is corrupted.

    ·         There is a problem with the file I/O process.

    ·         A driver that refers to an entry point in another binary file cannot load.

I suggest you try the following steps:

Step 1: Run the fixit available in the link below

Your CD or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314060

    If the problem persists,

Step 2: Uninstall and reinstall the drivers.

    1. click on start and then click Control Panel.

    2. click on system and Maintenance, click System, and then click Device Manager.

Note If Control Panel is in Classic view, double-click System and then click on Device Manager.

    3. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.

    4. in Device Manager, expand CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives, right click on the device CD and DVD and then click on uninstall.

    5. When you are prompted to confirm that you want to remove the device, click OK.

    6. restart the computer.

After the computer restarts, the drivers will be installed automatically.

  • my computer at home base down loaded /my computers certificate of authinticity says I am having windows vista Home premium and I have no disc what do I doto fix the problem in windows vista

my computer has windows vista basic on it when I went to athinticate, he told me it was a pirate down load that I looked on the bottom of my lap top and I am supposed to have windows vista Home premium. How can I solve this problem with a disc

    Hello

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

See if you have a recovery Partition:

There may be a recovery on the drive Partition hard reinstall Vista to how you bought your computer, unless the pirated installation wiped.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

I've never used windows to the top, however I do back up with my Norton Security.  I'm not a COMPUTER guru AT ALL and am very confused as to what must be saved for me to do a system restore.  I just made a backup on a 16 GB usb flash drive, which included photos, documents, email, contacts and music.  But what of my registry or my drivers I've updated on the latest updates of 2 years and windows?

So in plain English for the layperson to the computer, lol, can someone tell me...

    2. what should I back up? EXACTLY, please. lol (I have hundreds of games, I don't want to back to the top if possible)

3 and... HOW MUCH ALCOHOL SHOULD I HAVE AVAILABLE WHILE TRYING THIS. LOL just kidding. Laughing out loud

    Hello

Updates must be installed in a certain order and no Service Pack must be installed unless and until it is offered through Windows Update.

    However, try these options:

Step 1: You can not reuse what already automatically downloaded and installed. You can however save updates and install them manually if you wish.

Step 2: You can create a system image on the computer. A system image is an exact copy of a disc. By default, a system image includes the drives required for Windows to run. In addition, it includes Windows and your system settings, programs and files. You can use a system image to restore the contents of your computer if your hard drive or computer ever stops working.

    Hello

1 did you change on your computer before this problem?

    2. when exactly you receive error message?

You can follow the methods and see if it helps.

    Method 1
Use the PING command to verify that TCP/IP is working properly. To do this, ping the loopback address (127.0.0.1) by typing the following command at a command prompt:
    (a) click Start .
    (b) in the search box type command prompt.
    (c) right-click and select run as administrator of .
    (d) type ping 127.0.0.1 and ENTRY.
If you receive the response of 127.0.0.1, it means that TCP/IP is configured correctly.

    Method 2
Check to see if the problem exists in safe mode with network.

Start your computer in safe mode
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

    Method 3:

Alternatively, you can try to reset TCP/IP and then check if it helps:

    Method 4:

I also suggest you to download and run the latest Microsoft Scanner on your computer and check to see if it helps:
