Installed Windows 7 Professional custom in the required form XP. All the favorites were lost in Firefox and had to reinstall Firefox.
Explorers has maintained the Favorite list, I had to explore - quite different from Firefox.
Check the programs created separately by 7 to include the XP file. Favorites, registration is not relevant to the list lost on Firefox reinstall.
Question: Is it possible that I can get back the original Favorites listing lost when the 7 install, or is it 'gone with the wind "?I have not read what is happening in an installation of XP to 7. You can find this file on your system:
C:\Windows.old
If so, you can find one of these:
- C:\Windows.old\Documents and Settings\your user name
- C:\Windows.old\Users\your username
If so, your old given Firefox might be in there. To explore more, it would be useful to set windows to display the hidden files and folders. This article has the steps: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files
Then search either:
- \Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profilesyour usernameC:\Windows.old\Documents and Settings\
- Your username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles C:\Windows.old\Users\
Here you can find one or several folders named random semi. Who has most recently updated content is probably the one you want to restore from.
Bookmarks only
Go down the old bookmarkbackups folder and copy the last two backups in a location such as the desktop.
The restore feature will replace the bookmarks in Firefox by default (and what you added since the reset) with all like bookmarks. If you want preserve newly added bookmarks, use the first, export function before the restore, then the import function later. The following articles have details:
- Restore bookmarks from a backup or move them to another computer - to access backups on the desktop, use the command 'Choose file' menu
- (Optional) Import bookmarks to an HTML file
Success?
Complete restoration
This post has my suggested procedure to resurrect your old wide profile in your new installation of Firefox. Please note the use of the copy instead of move throughout the process. This allows you to try again if it fails somewhere along the way.

I have lost my list of Favorites?
My Favorites list has disappeared on the computer this morning, how do I get it back? Also, my prnter icon disappeared?
This could be caused by a corrupted profile. When a corrupted profile is detected by Windows, it will create another temporary profile and connect with this profile. When this happens, it will look like the first time you logged on to your computer. Your favorites are gone, and all the files that keep you on the desktop or in "My Documents" seems to not be there. In addition, you might find your favorites by clicking twice on 'My Computer' and looking into the following folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\\Favorites
or you overridewith your normal logon username. If this is your problem, follow the instructions in one of these articles:

lost all my favorites when I had to erase my mac and reinstall the operating system.
I had to erase my mac and get back to a previous operating system. I was with Time Machine to back up my computer, so I thought that he would return to the top of my bookmarks Firefox so file. I reinstalled Firefox, but I can't find the file anywhere. I checked in this location/Library/Application Support / Mozilla
I have a sync also account, but can't find my recovery key and I no longer have access to which it has been synchronized to the other computer.
Any ideas on how I can get my favorites back?
Thanks for your help, but I could solve my problem. I restored my computer using Time Machine and my favorites are back. I could not find the file on my hard drive for time Machine because he was in a hidden folder.

How to replace lost, broken, or Missing Microsoft Software or Hardware - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;326246
If it's an OEM license, you should contact that anyone who sold you the PC.
And a few other general information here is because you forgot to tell us something about what kind of computer you have:
Most laptops and many OEM desktop computers (HP, Sony, etc.) come with a picture of factory restore on a special partition on the hard drive. The factory restore process is normally called by pressing a key of function (such as F11) to start the computer. There will be a message as to what function key press the screen when you start your computer. You can also consult the manual of your computer or the computer mftr.'s site, or contact technical support to learn how to restore your computer if you plant from each computer mftr. He does it differently - sometimes even between models.
These machines also generally have a utility to create physical recovery disks in case the hard drive needs to be replaced or the factory restore image is somewhat damaged. If you have not created the recovery image recovery physical and/or damaged disks, contact technical support of computer mftr. to order a set of recovery disks. It is normally very expensive, around $20-25. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

Where I think my Windows programs or ideas made my accidental omission to back up my files cause destruction of these facilities?
Thanks, ChrisCheck if there is a Windows.old folder to the root of the hard disk, you can try to recover your personal files from there.
You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

Hello
Last weekend or there abouts I seems to have lost all my sounds and when I passed all the icons were in different places and everything is much broader.
What has gone wrong?
Hello
I did (I think) and it did not work, so it looks like I'll have to call Packard Bell and see what they have to say.
Thanks for your help anyway
Ken
As you have already gone to the website of the manufacturer of the computer and reinstalled the drivers is a good thought to contact Packard Bell about this.
See you soon.

When a pop-up window opens in a new tab, do NOT pass it immediately
Hello.
I changed the value of browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction from 2 to 0. Now pop-ups will open in a new tab instead of new window, which is cool.
But still firefox goes immediately to the ToolTip that gets opened in a new tab.
I want to have firefox in a way that, when a pop-up window is opened in a new tab, do NOT pass it immediately.Note: The option "when I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately" in the menu Options-> tabs, is already disabled.
Try to set the pref browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground to true on the topic: config page.

Firefox doesn't have my fill of IE8 Favorites list imporet
I installed Firefox recently and when displaying of my favorites, it did not import all the IE8. I tried to import them manually and it goes through the motions as if it's important, but it never brings more everything on my list of favorites.
If I don't get a response in two days, I simply delete firefox and come back to IE.
If you have problems with importing IE bookmarks in Firefox, then export favorites in Internet Explorer to a HTML file and import this file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
If you don't have the menu bar in Internet Explorer, and then right-click on the toolbar above to activate the menu bar.
- Export Favorites in Internet Explorer to a file (bookmarks.html) HTML:
File > import and export - Import HTML file in Firefox:
Bookmarks > show all bookmarks > import and backup > import bookmarks HTML
See "Import from another browser" and "import from file":

All IT gurus out there who know Firefox... have lost the passwords saved when FF created a new profile and delete old files key3.dbf and logins.json profile. Any ideas, anyone?
So it's not a logins.json file?
I see a signons3.txt file and a file signons.sqlite older, if you can try to see if you can import passwords stored in this file.
You can force Firefox to re-import the passwords in the file signons.sqlite and regenerate the file logins.json with the following steps:
- reset the signon.importedFromSqlite pref on the topic: config page by default via the context menu
- Delete the logins.json file in the closed Firefox with Firefox profile folder
When you restart Firefox, then you should have the pref signon.importedFromSqlite with the value set to true.
You have passwords that are imported in the password manager, unless there were errors or signons.sqlite signons3.txt.You can open the topic: config page via the address bar.
You can accept the warning and click on "I'll be careful" to continue. You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
- Help > troubleshooting information > profile directory: see file (Linux: open the directory;) Mac: View in the Finder)

original title: lost document
I got a new open word doc and is logged when Windows Vista did an update automatically and restart, now I seem to have lost! Any suggestions? A system restore wouldn't work?
If you have not saved the document before the reboot - and Windows always give a lot of warning before restarting automatically - while the file disappeared. There is no way to recover; System Restore does apply to system files, not data.
