I have lost my list of Favorites?

My Favorites list has disappeared on the computer this morning, how do I get it back? Also, my prnter icon disappeared?

This could be caused by a corrupted profile.  When a corrupted profile is detected by Windows, it will create another temporary profile and connect with this profile.  When this happens, it will look like the first time you logged on to your computer.  Your favorites are gone, and all the files that keep you on the desktop or in "My Documents" seems to not be there.  In addition, you might find your favorites by clicking twice on 'My Computer' and looking into the following folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\\Favorites
or you override with your normal logon username.

If this is your problem, follow the instructions in one of these articles:

Explorers has maintained the Favorite list, I had to explore - quite different from Firefox.
Check the programs created separately by 7 to include the XP file. Favorites, registration is not relevant to the list lost on Firefox reinstall.
Question: Is it possible that I can get back the original Favorites listing lost when the 7 install, or is it 'gone with the wind "?

I have not read what is happening in an installation of XP to 7. You can find this file on your system:

    C:\Windows.old

If so, you can find one of these:

    • C:\Windows.old\Documents and Settings\your user name
    • C:\Windows.old\Users\your username

If so, your old given Firefox might be in there. To explore more, it would be useful to set windows to display the hidden files and folders. This article has the steps: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files

    Then search either:

    • \Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profilesyour usernameC:\Windows.old\Documents and Settings\
    • Your username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles C:\Windows.old\Users\

Here you can find one or several folders named random semi. Who has most recently updated content is probably the one you want to restore from.

    Bookmarks only

Go down the old bookmarkbackups folder and copy the last two backups in a location such as the desktop.

The restore feature will replace the bookmarks in Firefox by default (and what you added since the reset) with all like bookmarks. If you want preserve newly added bookmarks, use the first, export function before the restore, then the import function later. The following articles have details:

    Success?

    Complete restoration

This post has my suggested procedure to resurrect your old wide profile in your new installation of Firefox. Please note the use of the copy instead of move throughout the process. This allows you to try again if it fails somewhere along the way.

  • I put a synchronization and copied from bookmarks to another computer I give to my grandson. I deleted several bookmarks that were meaningless to him. I didn't turn off sync on my computer and now have lost most of my favorites. I can get these?

Recover lost bookmarks after synchronizing to another computer

Try to restore the bookmarks from the most recent backup of JSON in the bookmarkbackups folder that has them.

    • Bookmarks > show all bookmarks > import and backup > restore > choose file
  • Firefox doesn't have my fill of IE8 Favorites list imporet

I installed Firefox recently and when displaying of my favorites, it did not import all the IE8. I tried to import them manually and it goes through the motions as if it's important, but it never brings more everything on my list of favorites.

If I don't get a response in two days, I simply delete firefox and come back to IE.

If you have problems with importing IE bookmarks in Firefox, then export favorites in Internet Explorer to a HTML file and import this file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.

If you don't have the menu bar in Internet Explorer, and then right-click on the toolbar above to activate the menu bar.

    • Export Favorites in Internet Explorer to a file (bookmarks.html) HTML:

  • I lost somehow entries to my list of favorites. Is it possible to restore it?

When I signed up first in my computer this morning, my list of favorites is there.  Then, I got a message about volleyball. I closed the message and looked at my list of favorites.  It has been deleted.  Is it possible to restore it?

    Hi vehicles four-wheeled

-What is the exact error message that you receive?

-What version of IE are you using?

For the operating system Windows XP, the default location where Favorites is:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Username\ favorite.

Check if the Favorites are listed.

Also check if the favorites that you deleted are present in the trash.

    a. first, go to the Recycle Bin on the desktop of your computer.

    b. double-click to open the Recycle Bin.

    c. find the favorites that you deleted accidentally.

    d. right-click on it and click "restore".

    e. open Internet Explorer. Your Favorites should be restored.

  • Since the update to version 8.0.1 many Web sites have lost their identity icon.

In the address bar and bookmarks, many web sites have lost their identity icon in Firefox 8.0.1 (that were there before). Now the cursor over the area of the icon reveals a message stating "this site does not provide identity information. But this message is also up by placing the cursor on a with an icon. Some sites have the icon in the bookmarks, but it does not show in the address bar. I found that this does not happen on Vista laptop, only on the Windows 7 desktop.

Checking all my favorites icons, I found that some are still there AND by revisiting SOME sites, I restored the icon from the list of bookmarks.

It did not work with each other, but some sites don't have a favicon.ico img on all their pages.

Still a few sites that I KNOW has icons before are not displayed to the top.

  • I have just refrehed Firefox, but have lost the upper left menu which had 'Bookmarks' 'tools' etc. Can you please tell me how to get that back?

  • My list of "Favorite" of Internet Explorer bookmarks disappeared; I can not find them - 'import of IE' that appear an out-of-date list of favorites... How to find

I tried all the options under all items 'Help' to find my missing Favorites ("Favorites") from IE, and nothing has worked. When I tried 'Import of IE', he loaded a list of Favorites at least a year. I can't find the current bookmarks that are stored in the folder "From Internet Explorer". When I click on the Favorites (Star) icon in the upper right corner, the menu no longer displays the option to select "from Internet Explorer". The only thing I have not tried is the "Restore" option available in the "library" under "Import and backup" window: I don't know which of the files listed is correct, and the instructions careful that whatever files are chosen now will replace the previous file. I don't want to accidentally erase all my stored Favorites (hundreds of them) and end up with only the bookmarks I saved just recently - I don't want to end up with a set of (old) Favorites obsolete.

You can find the entry menu import into the Manager of bookmarks (library)

If you can't find the IE Favorites in the folder ("Internet Explorer") or have problems with import favorites IE in Firefox, then export favorites in Internet Explorer to a HTML file and import this file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.

This way also preserve you a sort that you did with the Favorites in Internet Explorer and the Favorites don't end up in a folder "from Internet Explorer", but will be added at the end of the file Menu bookmarks.

If you don't have the menu bar in Internet Explorer, and then right-click on the toolbar above to activate the menu bar.

    • Export Favorites in Internet Explorer to a file (bookmarks.html) HTML: file > import and export
    • Import the HTML file in Firefox: bookmarks > show all bookmarks > import and backup > import HTML: from a file

  • I need to know, in a very simple language, how to import my entire list of "Favorites"

I have recently switched to firefox but do not have access to my list of Favorites-I can access only a portion of about 10 or 15 first I need the WHOLE list please

Incomplete import sometimes (example of the ongoing thread: only 1/3 of my bookmarks imported from IE.) How can I move the rest?). Could be linked to the number/depth records, but I'm not sure if someone has finally identified the cause.

For best results, export of IE to an intermediate file, which is in HTML format. Then import this file into Firefox. This will be a folder in the bookmarks Menu, and you can use the dialog box Organizer/library to reorganize the way you want.

  • Since the upgrade to 4.0.1 I have lost Norton toolbar.

Since the upgrade to 4.0.1 I have lost Norton toolbar with secure identity, I spoke with Norton and they say I need to revert to a previous version because they have no solution. However, this problem is on my laptop XP Pro only. My office has the same version and everything works OK. I have since checked troubleshooting info and noticed that norton extensions are listed on both computers with ID but one office is registered as activated. This problem can be solved on my laptop to find norton (who works on another PC) or have I not other choices reloading to an earlier version of firefox and if yes what is the easest wy for this with no loss of bookmarks etc.

The person you spoke with at Norton is not always conscious, but they are due to release a fix sometime this week - http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Norton-product-compatibility-with-Firefox-Updates/m-p/443808

Waiting for this update you can get Firefox 4.0 http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/4.0/win32/ - you must select the folder for your language, then you can download and run the installer for Firefox 4.0
