  Just acquired a computer laptop and everything seemed to sync with SkyDrive and my desktop PC, except that the Word doc files will not open. Error message _ .doc is locked by another user. By selecting 'Open read-only' displays a different error message.

  Deleted from the temporary internet folder.

  Success!

  Checked E: temp internet files and notice a file called Content.Word

  Empty file 0 bytes

  Copied to the temporary internet folder in D: less Content.Word file

  Reset environment variables and temp internet folder to D:

  No problem! Yes team!

  I was a licensed copy of Lightroom 3 running on my desktop (iMac). Once LR4 is out, I downloaded LR4 on this machine to use "experimental" Meanwhile on my copy in box of LR4 (upgraded version). Once I get my box copy of LR4, I entered the key to upgrade the LR4 box in Lightroom and (as expected), the software asked for my "previous version" touch since what I entered a upgrade key, rather than a full key. I noticed that he pre-populated my LR3 key (I think as a licensed version of LR3 had already run on this machine). Everything was good - he took the key and compatible software.

  So far so good.

  Now, I just bought a new laptop (MacBook Pro). This machine has never had LR3 on it. I installed LR4 and started using it as a test identical to my office. Once I got my copy converted my LR4 update, I enter the key of the LR4 box in Lightroom, and like on my office asked the key to my 'previous version' of Lightroom. Same thing as before. But this time the LR3 key was not pre-populated (I guess since LR3 never existed on this machine).

  Now, the problem is that when I enter my LR3 key (in collaboration with my LR4 upgrade key) on my laptop, it does not. There is a large "X" to the right of my key as if the key is not valid. I have triple checked the value of the key (it's the serial number of my copy of LR3 in box) and it is correct, and it is the same one who worked on my desk.

  -Should I really have an installed version of LR3 on my laptop to use the upgrade key to allow LR4? Or I'd just have only installed LR4, and enter my LR3 (full) + the LR4 license keys (upgrade)? I hope that the...

  Try the following.

  Open windows control panel, open Windows Update, select "View update history" in the left pane and then select "Installed updates" link in the next window.

  Locate the KB2962407 update, right click and choose uninstall.  Once completed, restart the computer, open windows control panel, open Windows Update and select "Check for updates".  You will see the update that you have uninstalled just offered once again - right click and select "Hide update".

  When windows has reloaded, you may or may not need to use the Recovery Manager to reinstall your original Audio driver as it is stated in the document at the link below.

• HP15-g088ca: HP 15 laptop computer purchased less than 2 years ago. Broken hinge, display cases of separation. HP, please help.

  My son uses his laptop computer HP15 home to his office, rarely transporting.  He never gave it and a sweet user.

  The left hinge seems to be broken / defective, and separates the window.  For now, we are all leaving the screen open all the time, but it's a little awkward and the problem is certainly on a laptop less than 2 years old.

  Looking at the forum, it looks like a common problem.

  We are fans of HP in general, so I hope that this problem can be solved.

  HP solved the problem free of charge, including shipping in both directions and repair.

  It took ten days in total, and we used the laptop without a problem for about 10 days more.

  It seems that the hinges for laptop and the display case were entirely replaced, and no data has been lost.

  My son is thrilled to have his laptop in return, and to my eyes, HP just went through.

  I wouldn't hesitate to buy another HP product, although I confess in the hope that:

  (1) HP manufacuring no longer uses defective parts

  (2) HP treats everyone with this problem of hinge with the same care

  OK, so this is what happened:

  While my friend was working on his laptop computer that she had his charger plugged but it did not load. I discovered that the lead from the Charger AC/DC had frayed and should resolidering. After that the laptop was working fine, I looked inside the laptop to check the AC plug connector before I fixed the cable.

  I noticed that the WiFi card was broke, so I changed it to a WiFi card in my other laptop used. After back the laptop together and put the battery in, the lights on the front flash blue only and the power light stays orange as if the laptop is in stand-by mode. I can hear the hard drive turns and the CPU heats more CD-ROM drive works, but I can't start that the laptop just sits there with the Orange.

  I tried out the CMOS battery, I took out the main battery and just used the AC/DC adapter, but the same thing happens.

  you are allowed installation on an unlimited number of computers.  the only limitation is that you can only sign-in (and therefore open) CP programs on, at most, two computers at a time.  but it is not a significant limitation, unless you have few internet availability.

  Install and activate are two different things.

  You can install the software on as many computers as you want.

  However you can activate the software to be used on up to two computers at the same time.

  You can switch power on and off activation via Help > Sign Out (and help > Sign In)

  In other words, you can alternate two activations between three computers according to the computer on which you use both. The software won't let you activate the 3rd until you disable one of the other two.
