  I was a little confused on the way Thunderbird handles the local folder. My local folder is not strictly local, but IMAP as my account records. I would like to be able to unload some of my old files on my hard drive and have them always accessible via Thunderbird. I tried archive but it is just another IMAP folder and so is my local files. Initially, I found having the local convenient IMAP folders because I could file emails from multiple email addresses into common folders and easily get to them via my PC or my laptop because they are IMAP.
  All I want to do now is to archive some of my old emails, so they are no longer on the server. How can I do to make it. I thought it should be an easy thing but now after having spent a few hours looking for a solution and finding I'm frustrated. Everything I've read suggests that the local folder should be stored on my hard don't drive not the server, but this isn't my experience.

  Very occasionally when I try to open the my computer Explorer window is white and I get a message that I need to format the drive F.  I did not have a permanent Drive F and when this happened had no other connected devices.
