Re: Satellite P200-1JR-S/PDIF is stereo only

Hello.
I have the Toshiba P200-1JR.
When I connect laptop to hollow receiver optical cable and trying to watch movies with AC3 5.1 sound, I get only a stereo sound.
1. the receiver works correctly with the PS3 and DVD player.
2. in S/PDIF options I have Setup with only 2 speakers.
Screenshot: http://img177.imageshack.us/my.php?image=soundei1.jpg
3. I have the latest audio driver from the Toshiba site.

Please help me to get AC3 5.1 hollow optical cable.

Thank you.

Hello

I don't know if you will be able to watch movies with 5.1 sound AC m.

The fact is that this laptop supports the Audio Format: 24-bit (DAC, read), 16-bit (ADC, recording), stereo.

In addition, it would be very interesting to know where you found the plug S/PDIF. ?:|

To my knowledge, this laptop supports only mic and headphone jack.
The headphone jack allows you to connect a _stereo_ headphones or other devices to audio output of the external speakers. I didn't find the S/PDIF connectors.

I have connected my laptop to a stereo and in my case the HiFi, equipment produces the sound 5.1 and not the sound card on laptop!

  • Satellite P200-1JR: display becomes suddenly empty only restart helps.

    Hello

I have laptop Toshiba P200-1JR, and I am satisfied with the performance.

Unfortunately, I have experienced a few problems for which I'm not sure if they are material (manufacturing) or a driver problem (software).

1 display sometimes (maybe once a week) becomes suddenly empty. Nothing special was did not previously, which should be the trigger. Just the time. Only restart helps.
2 same as 1, but already show just goes crazy for a few second. A few lines aside (as the magnetic interruptions) are on the screen.

I just downloaded a bunch of driver updates (have not applied the yet), but I want to ask is this already known issue?

    Best regards

    > The screen started flashing uncontrolled for about 15 seconds, then it becomes totally blank.

If the display driver and BIOS update help didn t I would recommend checking the laptop in ASP in your country
Something like this may seem very strange, or it s a hardware problem

    Good luck

  • Satellite P200-1JR doesn't do nothing - all the lights are off

My toshiba Satellite P200-1jr someday is dead and it is like new.
All the lights are off with battery or without or with only of food.

Please help me. I don't know what to do.

    Thank you!

    Hello

Don t think someone could help here in your case.
No lights (power led, led battery nor ac DC plug-in led) means there could be a problem of serious material maybe the motherboard is missing.

If the AC adapter is defective, then the laptop must always turn on using battery power ok, this is not possible if the battery would be too empty.

So usually a technician first test adapter and should try to plug an AC adapter right in order to test this.

But to me it looks like something wrong with a motherboard :(
Of course, this is only my personal opinion...

  • Install Windows 7 on Satellite P200-1JR (PSPB6E)

    Hello

I have P200-1JR (PSPB6E), with pre-installed Windows Vista Home Premium.

I would try (and buy) Windows 7, but I'm not sure of drivers available for this new platform.
Has anyone tried to type of computer laptop install Windows 7 on this (or similar)? I have experiences.

    Thank you.

    Hello

Windows 7 is not official launched and for the moment, you can install only trial version. Toshiba and other laptop manufacturers are going to start Windows 7 support when the first laptop with Windows 7 is available on the market. The same was with Vista.

For now, Toshiba doesn't offer any driver, tool or utility for Windows 7.

  • Problem USB 2.0 on Satellite P200-1JR

I bought my laptop about a month ago, and yesterday I tried to use my flash drive.
After noticing that he took too long to transfer data, I checked the usb ports in Device Manager.
It shows that I have five simple USB and two USB 2.0 host controllers.
Changing the display 'view of the connections' I realized that my 6 USB ports share three of five simple USB controllers.

The laptop is supposed to offer 6-Port USB2.0... well, it doesn't.
(Also under Vista 32-bit, with 3 GB of Ram)

The service guy told me to format, but this does not solve anything.
    I also got BIOS 2.30...

    Any ideas?

have you tried to reinstall the chipset drivers? You may need to check www.intel.com and download the latest chipset drivers for your machine.

Another suggestion is to check that the sites of microsoft support for USB problems since Vista is known to work intestinal and I guess that there must be something on USB to find...

    Welcome them

  • Reinstall the operating system on Satellite P200-1JR

    Hello!
Please help me, I need our help.
How to reinstall the system pre-installed on my laptop safely?

My OS: Vista Home Premium (32 bit)
    3 GB RAM

    Thanks in advance

You can do this via recovery DVD or disk HARD recovery facility.
How it works with the installation of HARD drive recovery, you can read about
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD1303440001R02.htm

Please note: this will work if your laptop has only factory settings. If this isn't the case, you must use the recovery DVDs. You have these recovery DVDs?

  • Satellite P200 - 10G screen turns white cause driver

I was gifted a Satellite P200 - 10G, works great so far, only if I try to install the graphics driver (Intel 945 G), both that of intel and Toshiba one my screen goes black on each Windows (XP, Vista, Win 7, Win 10). It works with the standard Win drivers (except Win7).
Any ideas why this is happening. And maybe a workaround?

    Regardings

    mindscraper

If I understand the question, the laptop works properly using the standard Windows graphics driver that is part of the system and standard resolution (I guess that 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768 or something like that).

But after the installation of the driver graphics card, black laptop display changes and nothing is visible on the internal display. Right?

This happens also in the external screen/monitor?
    Check it out

But to be honest, the question looks like a malfunction of the graphics card.

  • Satellite P200-1EE - Vista stuck on the homepage

    Hello

    * My Satellite P200-1EE is stuck on the progress bar Windows Vista since yesterday morning * and I'm unable to contact my office.

I tried several solutions using the F8 key at startup.

    1 / safe mode

2 / startup repair. "Windows cannot repair this computer automatically.

3 / the system restore. "No restore point.

4 / windows complete PC Restore. "No restore point.

5 / Windows memory diagnostic tool. It is said that there is no problem of memory.

So I am only left with the options of 'Restore the full Windows operating system' and the 'command prompt '.

But I'm not too sure of the latter option. That's where I need your advice.

    * If I go for complete Windows restore, the entire hard drive fade or just the partition where I have windows (for example, "C:")? * I have several years of family photos on another partition (D or E) that I would not lose enough.

Obviously, * I do not lose data or software on C:, but not personal stuff D or E.*
Could you advise me on the best option?

    Thank you

    Paul

    > If I go for complete Windows restore, the entire hard drive fade or just the partition where I have windows (for example, "C:")? I have several years of family photos on another partition (D or E) that I would not lose enough.

Depends on the disc that you would use if you want to use the Toshiba recovery disc, then the whole HARD disk would be formatted, including all partitions on the HARD drive.
If you want to use the disk in Microsoft Windows Vista, you can choose which partition has been formatted and where the Vista must be installed.

    > Clearly, I do not lose data or software on C:, but not personal stuff on D or E.
    > Could you advise me on the best option?

If you n t want to lose the data stored on the D partition and if you don t have a disc of Microsoft Vista, install the OS of Visa then I would recommend, remove the laptop HARD drive. Then plug the 2.5 SATA HDD with a USB-SATA controller then this HARD drive to another computer.
Usually, you should be able to access the D partition and would be able to move all the data to another computer.

  • HARD drive and memory upgrade on the Satellite P200 - 17 c

    Hello

I own Satellite P200 17 c. My current memory is DDR2 PC2-5300 2 GB. I would like to upgrade to DDR2 PC2 - 6400 4 GB of ram. I can do and it's going to be some speed improvements, if I update to PC2-6400 PC2-5300 instead?

I have 2 hard drives on my P200 17 c. 2 x 100 GB. I want to upgrade one of these two HD ranging from 100 GB to 320 GB 5400 RPM. can I do this? and it'll be a difference if I update with HD who has 7200 RPM?

    Thank you

First of all: your machine is able to handle a maximum capacity of 4 GB RAM, but please be aware that you won´t be able to use all of the 4 GB due to some limitations of the chipset that are explained in the following article: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB82022E0000R01.htm

Regarding the speed of module: chipset specifications are defined for PC5300, so it will not improve your speed when you install faster modules.

If you want to upgrade your hard drive then do as you like, because it shouldn´t be any restrictions, you can install a drive with 7200 RPM with a slower.

The only difference will be that the faster drive faster. The performance of the entire system would increase only when you´re install your operating system on the disk more fast (which is the recommendation of my side :))

  • Satellite P200 - 123 No Post, but still the boots

    Hello

Have a strange, my old Satellite P200-123 worked extremely hot (70 inactive more than 100 of the load) 2 years so he disassembled and replaced the thermal grease, fans and cleaned. Standard maintenance went well, (apart from the microphone plug disintegrate at the start, but I use headphones so not really a problem).

First boot after the interview I noticed that the screen does not display anything until windows log in screen, no toshiba screen, no post messages, etc. At first, I thought it may have lack of an external port (VGA or HDMI) however I tried to connect to an external device and he still refuses to show anything until the windows log on screen.

I stripped and repaired hundreds of laptops (it's my job) but never encountered this in 15 years of maintenance and repairs PC and laptop. System running Windows 7 (not like it should make a difference) and the used thermal grease was the new Artic MX-3 and served on the GPU, the CPU and the Northbridge (and before someone says you must use the compound of unfounded pressure of toshiba ceramics, stuff I've used here are better for this the toshiba recommended stuff, believe me). The system works well (now idling at 39 and 65 at full load), I guess that's not much of a problem, unless I need to reinstall or restore my machine for some reason, all the world has an idea on how to fix this?

    Very interesting, Jaster! :)

Thanks for sharing this information with us!

  • Can I build at the second disk on Satellite P200-1I4?

    Hello!

Before all sorry for my bad English. =((

I have a toshiba SATELLITE P200-1I4 and the question is: can I install a HDD (additional) more. Or there is only one SATA slot in this laptop? Unfortunately for laptop is not close to me now, and I can't remove the back panel and see.
On the web site of Toshiba, I can't find any information about it.

    More information:
    SATELLITE P200-1I4
    S/N: z7269306k - M/n: PSPB3E-0J601MRU

Thanks, and I hope that all written above is understandable. =)

Best thing you can do is to remove the cover for the second HARD drive and see if the HARD drive connector is available.
If this is not the case, there is no possibility to upgrade the HARD drive.

Maybe someone on this forum has the same laptop model and can check for you.

  • Installation of WXP Pro on Satellite P200

    Hello

I bought a Satellite P200 today and I want to remove the Vista Home Premium and install a WXP Pro, but I can't do it. There the chipset is Intel GM965 Express. I have compiled a DVD with files for the above mentioned chipset inf, but I have problems, if she sees HARD drive as 110 MB instead of 250 GB. I would really appreciate it if you would tell me step by step what to do to be able to install XP Pro. Thank you very much.

PS: Sorry if I misplaced this thread

do not take account of my thread... + solved the problem myself. drives the way I solved the problem is using a recompiled Windows xp pro with an ich + inf for intel. ;)

    long live mates them.

  • Satellite P200-1 b 6: Sound Driver update fails, and HD-DVD player does not work

I just bought a laptop Satellite P200-1 b 6 and spent the day installing the updates recommended by the TEMPO programme. One of them was an update of RealTek audio driver but on run this it fails at about 80% of the way through with an error: "install Realtek HD Audio Driver failure!

Now, the reader of HD DVD, Toshiba will fail with an error "unable to output the video to an external device.

Please change your display keys of the device by pressing the Fn + F5 after the end of the application "." I tried this but it seems to have no effect.

I'm now regretting starting to update the drivers installed. Should I try to rebuild the machine using the recovery discs or is there another solution that someone found? Or if others have found the upgrade work?

    All advice welcome

    Hello

When I started using PC, one of my friends told me something: do not touch the well-executed system. I know that you, like so many other people out there, have updated things but as you can see, it can go in the wrong direction.

This TEMPO software is good, but if all goes well the leave it as it is. What you can try is to use the System Restore tool and move the BONES to earlier time and hope everything will be OK again.

    Please post the result.

  • BIOS update failed on Satellite P200 - 13 M

    Hello world

    I have a Satellite P200, (PSPB6E-03G01XFR).
Yesterday, after attempting to update my BIOS version with the windows application, my phone was cut.

I downloaded the new version of the bios of Toshiba-Europe Web site (v2.30) and I tried to use the Crisis_Recovery_Disk but no result. :(
    Can someone help me please?

Unfortunately, in your case only the ASP can help you.

Does your BIOS update fails and only the ASP can update the ROM module damaged by using a special version of the BIOS

So, don t waste time and ask the ASP in your country to help.

    Best regards dude

  • Satellite P200 - minimizing on its own screens

    Hello

I just bought a laptop Satellite P200 - 1 K 8. I'm having a problem with the screen pages minimize while I'm surfing the net / opening files, etc at random times?
It's pretty frustrating - and I'm not sure if this is a Vista issue or the laptop itself?

Someone at - it experience of this or had the same problem?

Thank you very much in advance for your help with my question!

    Jay

Check the touch pad settings, go to control panel, Classic view - mouse, then player settings and click settings for the touchpad. Then go to the box 'type' and disable tapping.
"tapping" allows you to activate the touchpad to do different things when you tap the corners.

(at least it worked for me on a P200-1EE)
