I put in a CD or DVD drive and nothing happens.
I put in a disc. My use of the computer to recognize and automatic playback of the disc (CD & DVD) now, it does nothing. When I search in the files, the reader does not appear upward. When I look in run, nothing new. When I insert the disc, I hear running as she starts, but nothing happens. After a search here, I found solutions as turn on drive D; But how? Then, hardware troubleshooting, but that did not work. Can someone guide me through solutions to try? PLEASE, I BEG YOU.
Hello
First we will test the CD/DVD drive:
Try this to see if the drive is viable at all (you will need to make of these on)
another computer since your willingness not to not start - XP, Vista, Windows 7 or 8/8.1
(or even under Linux is not serious). You can also try to start with
another drive in Windows - any OS but do not use it to try to repairs
unless it's absolutely the same version of Windows on your system - just
start to see if the drive works.
/ Settings (BIOS/CMOS) often F2 then watch the display as launch you - set
the order of boot on CD/DVD first. Don't forget to when.
Try to start on a Linux boot disk.
If the player does not start to these then there no or there is other equipment
problems that affect it. However, even it doesn't start that does not mean there is
other functions not possible some hardware problems affect the reader.

2nd troubleshooting if the CD/DVD drive actually works:
From the desktop, or use the WINDOWS key + X - run - type RegEdit
OR place the cursor in the lower left corner of the desktop - right-click - Run-
type RegEdit.
Click on the plus sign (+) next to the following folders
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class
\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Right click on the key in the left pane - export so you can reverse in case of
a mistake. Save as Remove - Filters.reg (any name is ok with .reg extension).
In the eyes of the right pane for one of these = UpperFilters - LowerFilters.
UpperFilters.bak - LowerFilters.bak
If right click on them - delete (maybe there is not one of these and if)
No it isn't the solution.)
Close RegEdit
Reset
If you have no need to file .reg you registered then you can delete it.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Check with the system manufacturer's support, their documentation online, and
drivers. Look for the updates to the BIOS, chipset of low level drivers and major
device embedded and separate drivers.
---------------
From the desktop - WINDOWS key + D while on the screen start to access the desktop:
WINDOWS key + X or build the mouse in the lower left corner right click and corner - command prompt (ADMIN)
Enter it below (or COPY and PASTE):
Reg.exe add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0" / f/v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001
RESET
(from AtishayMSFT)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Use and you need to use it again after trying the methods below.
What happens if a device is not installed correctly? (Run the hardware and devices Troubleshooter)

=====================================================
Follow these steps to remove corruption and missing/damaged file system repair or replacement.
Starting from the command prompt from the desktop - Windows key + X - (Admin)
SFC/scannow
(space between C and /)
Then run CheckDisk execution - chkdsk /r (the / r includes the parameter f controls)
Windows key + X - command prompt (Admin)

Or run CheckDisk in Windows 8:
Improve performance by optimizing your hard drive - see "to repair a drive.

Windows key + X - Control Panel
Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device.
Tab - click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - and then to the right of the driver
Click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT this will refresh the default driver

My HP Presario f 700 laptop does not recognize my CD/DVD drive and will not burn or play CDs or DVD movies.
I have a lightscribe, CD/DVD player, and I started having problems about a month ago... I tried to burn a lightsribe CD and my computer told me that I didn't have a CD Lightscribe drive (I!)... then when I just tried to burn the music on the CD, he didn't do it either... Finally a week ago, I tried to play a movie on my laptop, and that does not work either.
When I insert in the film or the cd, the drive lights up and I can hear the work, but it is as if she has no connection with my laptop and my laptop is not picking up the CD/DVD drive try to play a movie or a cd.
A friend suggested that I go to the HP website and am trying to download a driver, but I didn't know what to do once I got to this website, and I don't know if it will work.
If you know how to solve this problem, or if you have had a similar problem with your computer, please help, thank you.

What should I do when I insert a blank DVD and nothing happens?
I'm running Mac OS X 10.9.5. I want to burn files (jpg and MOV) on a DVD. I insert a DVD (as documented in the help) and nothing happens. I tried to go in disk utility, by selecting the drive and selecting the burn. He tells me to select the files I want to burn. I can select a folder, but the jpg and mov files are all shaded out and not selectable. I tried Sony r and Sony + R without result. Any help would be appreciated.
Update - I have a reader provided with the iMac Superdrive. I tried to reset my USB ports with command-option-p-r on startup. Still no drive does appear on the desktop when inserted and still cannot select all the images in the option "burn" in disk utility, even if I get the message to select the files to burn. It's very frustrating.

Computer: Dell Inspiron mini 910
Camera: Vivitar ViviCam X 024 digital camera
Program: Vivitar experience Image Manager software
I've tried connecting the camera to the computer, downloading the software directly from vivitar.com (invalid email supposedly), control panel addition and the removal of the cameras (not on the list of cameras), ect... I am now at a loss what to try next so if someone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
The camera uses media that can be deleted? If so, download a USB drive for this type of media nd it allows to read the media when you remove it from the camera.
Regarding the "no CD/DVD drive" - If you really think you want - buy one - USB external.
If you have a ViviCam X 024 and looking at technical specifications and web Vivitar support page you can see the Manual of the camera that shows what you can / should use a SD memory card. With a decent USB drive for the type of card, you should be able to remove it and read it as any external USB drive.
Well, to tell you the truth, however, the manual (page 48) makes it sound like the camera is - somehow - just a SD card reader.
Transfer media from my camera to my computer manually (using Windows)
1. use the USB cable that came with your camera to connect your device to your computer.
2. a window appears with a list of options, select open folder to view files, and click OK.
3. open the DCIM folder and the folder to view multimedia files.
4. Select support and copy the files in this folder to your computer. Optionally, select the files and choose copy from the Edit menu. Select a folder, then choose Paste from the Edit menu.
5. We recommend that you copy the images in the photos / folder my pictures and videos in the videos / folder my videos.
6. do not disconnect the cable during transfer. This will cancel the file transfer on their way to your computer. You are keen on the CD/DVD drive for installation of some software? You could make the CD in ISO image and install a program that would go the ISO image on your mini. Or better yet, ise some external USB device connected to another computer to copy the contents of the CD to a folder on the said device and then transfer it to the mini.
