I want to recover my Equium L40 - PSL41E

I want to wipe the HD on my computer laptop lads and re - install the OS from the 1.46 GB Toshiba providing hidden partition.
Only problem, is that the product supplied with the laptop recovery CD doesn't play ball.

I've configured the BIOS to boot from the CD,
I now tried the 'C' when you turn it on and
also tried the PF12 key while booting.

The only answer is a cd drive grinding noise when trying to read the CD and a simple blinking cursor on the left side, on a black background.
After about 30-40 seconds, he spends mode with Microsoft Corporation under a mobile bar and then the Windows Logo to normal startup.

I can't open or read the CD on the laptop but can open & read it on my other desk perfectly, I can even read from my laptop on my home network.
I can open & read other CDs on the laptop perfectly.

I uninstalled the driver CD and rebooted to activate Windows find and reinstall. I went through all the drivers and updates to those who
find new versions. The driver of the CD was not one of them. (FYI, it's a Pioneer DVD - RW DVR-K17A ATA device v.6.0.6000.16386)

I used F8 to get in the Advanced Options Panel, but when you go through the different selections for the "Format and re - install OS' option it just straight up pop"
with an advisory screen advise you to use the product recovery CD.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas to try to get this CD to work on my laptop Toshiba of guys. (Equium L40 - PSL41E)
Thank you very much.

> I'll go and try and borrow an external drive before I go and buy a new one.
And then you'll post here again once you cannot start the recovery CD/DVD facilities.
Best solution for you is to swap the internal optical disc drive. Not only due to the installation of recovery, but also for the use of the other.

User s manual, you can find a list of all compatible drives. Exchange is very simple and you can do it alone.

    Hi guys.

With the help of my laptop wireless this morning and all was fine, then all of a sudden, it loses the connection.

Tried different methods to restore the link, update driver downloaded but no luck.

The wireless light on the front of the laptop no longer turns, so I was wondering if there was some kind of internal problem.

I am house bound and rely heavily on my WiFi, so if someone could suggest a solution to the problem, or has any suggestions, which would be excellent, but please keep in mind, I'm not very technical interest, you may have to explain things in detail!

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello!

You have activated the WiFi connection with the hardware switch of the laptop? The switch is on?
In addition you can disable/enable the WLAN function with the FN keys. Therefore, you must press FN + F8.

And what driver have you installed? If you update the driver, you should look on the Toshiba WLAN portal. There, you can always find new driver versions:

  • Equium L40 PSL41E: Wireless not connect host process not put end to

Recently, I got a blue screen on this laptop crash after that get a message telling me a host process had ended.

The computer is running Vista, so I expect problems when my parents bought my sister this laptop.
In any case despite the frequent blue screen stop messages, etc.. When I get the message telling me that the host process put an end to my wireless connection gets messed up.

The last time I used windows: diagnose why Windows cannot find network option and was quickly informed that my wireless was turned off (despite the fact that he was actually turned on) and that the computer would automatically turn back on.

After that it worked fine for a few days until I had another stop of host process and the computer crashed once more.

This time, the computer refuses to connect despite the use of the above method and the ConfigFree(Connectivity Doctor), fix the connection etc.

I give myself the possible Solutions are:

Well, good suggestions. Fire now that I'm all ears.

    Hello

I put t know why a host process has stopped working, but to my knowledge, the process could be svchost.exe.
However, the issue seems to be related to the Vista OS problem

I see that you have tried to solve this problem, but without being successful, you also get a BSOD so I think it's a serious problem of software and you must first use the Toshiba Recovery CD to reinstall the operating system on this laptop.

After the new installation (would take about 15 min) update the operating system to the State.
Then you can try to reconfigure the wireless network

    It's worth to try ;)

  • Need USB drivers for old Equium L40 - 10U PSL41E running Vista 32-bit

    Hi all

I think that my USB driver is corrupted. I found the ChipSet, LAN and BIOS drivers for my old PSL41E Equium L40 - 10U running Vista 32 bit. However, I have not found the USB drives I need. USB drivers are contained in the ChipSet, BIOS or LAN driver?

If not, where can I find and download the USB drivers for my old old Equium L40 - 10U PSL41E running Vista 32 bit?

    Thank you! -Le Cannet

Here is where I found the drivers (but with no mention of USB drivers):

    > Are contained in the ChipSet, BIOS or LAN USB drivers driver?

USB drivers are part of the Windows operating system.
The USB ports should work after the installation of the Windows operating system and, therefore, there is no such thing as a USB driver for the USB 2.0 standard.

In addition, the chipset driver must be installed.

I checked the proposed link in your ad and here, you can download the Intel chipset utility.
The update of the BIOS is also available

  • Equium L40 - 10z PSL41E - cannot install audio driver WinXP

    Hello!

I'm having a problem with the installation of the Windows XP sound card drivers

Computer laptop informatio, Toshiba Equium L40 - 10z (bought from PC World) PSL41e
    2 GB Ram DDR2 - 667 Mhz
    Core 2 [email protected]
    120 GB hard drive
Intel GMA 945 graphics card with shared memory

I can't find drivers for my laptop, the specification is indicated above. I have windows XP with service pack 3 installed and the system is unable to install drivers Realtek High Defination or audio drivers Realtek AC 97 ". I even tried the latest drivers version 1.86 but not its use.

I read the other posts on this forum and have tried the other model audio drivers as well, it seems that after running the installer from several other realtek audio drivers for windows XP THAT is of no use. I even tried to add material manually through the Device Manager and have to install these drivers for realtek high definition audio and the realtek ac 97 audio drivers.

Of course, this helps the drivers to install, but windows cannot activate the material with an error code 10 with a note of explanation on behalf of the driver in Device Manager.

I also tried to install the drivers of toshiba A100/A200 without exploitation, however, I read somewhere that there is a windows XP patch that is required to be installed, so that windows detect the chip high definition, which is on the motherboard. If one can provide a direct link to a driver with the .inf file that will have the information for the material, or if someone can advise (or provide a link for) according to microsoft update is required for windows XP, in the appropriate hardware detection, will be really useful.

I'm also sorry for my bad English I'm unable to articulate with the type of problem, I faced. But if anyone knows of a solution and additional information is needed, I will be happy to provide you with everything I know.

I'll be very grateful to anyone who helps address this issue. Looking forward to a positive response :).

    > have windows XP with service pack 3 installed
To my knowledge, that the XP SP3 is not published official. Only a beta version is available.
    Then go back to SP2!

    > the system cannot install drivers Realtek High Defination or Realtek AC' 97 audio drivers
Realtek AC 97 audio driver is not compatible! You must use the driver from Realtek High definition.

    > Of course, it helps the drivers to install, but windows cannot activate the material with an error code 10 with a note of explanation on behalf of the driver in Device Manager.

The problem is that you have not installed the MS XP patches that are necessary to get the sound working.

  • Equium L40-10 X - hardware upgrade options

Hi all, I hope someone can help me.

I have a few problems that I wish to address with my laptop. The first is an overheating problem. Is there a cooling system that I can install to help with this problem?

I know I can improve my RAM, I currently have only 1 GB, but I heard that I can have only a maximum of 2 GB. It is not a problem if that's true, but if I get more I would.

Last thing I want to ask, is whether or not I can upgrade the internal memory, I currently have 120GB. If I is something I can do myself?

I appreciate any help you can give

    Hey,.

1 if you have overheating problems then just clean the cooling assembly. You need not just a new or better, cooler jet of compressed air. ;)
[How to clean a Toshiba laptop cooling system? | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=40]

    2. Yes, you can upgrade the RAM to 2 GB. That s the maximum capacity for this model to Toshiba specifications.
The part number for a 1 GB module is PA3512U-1M1G

    3. you can also upgrade the HARD drive, that s no problem.
AFAIK Equium L40 supports SATA already then you can buy each HARD drive with this interface. There is no capacity limit.

    I hope I could help you :)

  • Updated BIOS for Equium L40

    Hello
I have an Equium L40 x 10 with PSL41E model number. This update will work with it?:

Out of curiosity: you have a serious problem with your laptop? I mean what is the reason for the update of the BIOS?

I upgraded my Equium L40 to Windows 7 and now, wireless equipment and F8 function switch switch the WLAN on and outside. It is permanently.

Also, even if it is enabled in the Windows 7 power options, close the lid won't be thecomputer to sleep. If I close it turns off the screen but doen't make Windows 7 options.

When I upgraded to Windows 7, I chose the option to do as a new installation and therefore lost my Vista installation.

  • Equium L40-10 X: need details on memory

I think to upgrade the RAM on the above, but can't find the model or specification on the UK site (other members of the family range Equium are in the "Portable computers" section of the Web page, but my model is not frustrating!).

I am particularly interested because I want to get the right type of memory (original or generic) - users can help me on this?
My main reason for increase the RAM memory, is that the laptop seems desperately slow with 1 GB of ram standard which I think is mounted 2 x 512 MB.

If all users have other tips to speed up the laptop, let me know.

By the way, turning takes about 50-60 seconds and shutdwon 40-50 seconds, is this normal.
The laptop is currently to form specifications with.

    Don t found the Equium L40 - 10 X but 10U.
However, the two laptops are identical.

    Hello

Normally, you can get all the drivers on the Toshiba page:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

I checked the page, and it seems that for Windows 7 not all drivers available. So, as you've already written that you can try the Vista driver because most of them are also work on Windows 7.
An alternative, you can consult the Intel page. Maybe you can find a newer driver that was official published for Windows 7.

If you n t know how to use this driver exactly, use the forum search. You will find hundreds of threads. ;)

  • Equium L40-156: graphics card problem - error code 12 in Device Manager

    People of the night...

Just got a family run Vista premium, Equium L40-156, everything is going well except a little problem with the display adapter (Mobile Intel 965).

Tried the drivers that I had with the installer
Tried the drivers from the toshiba download page
Tried the drivers on the Microsoft Update site
Tried the drivers from the website of intel

All have the same problem, in Device Manager, it shows with an error (the pretty yellow triangle with the "!") with an error code 12 (the device cannot find enough free resources) even after a system resart.

Switching view hidden devices displays a 2nd same device, but works correctly, but the two disappear if I try to delete either.
Display settings do not display a connected device, DXDIAG had no idea either.

Latest version of the BIOS installed, all other devices are very good and can not see an IO overlap anywhere

    Any suggestions, greatly appriciated

    Ta

    Hello

I have studied a little bit and looked on the Microsoft page for some answers and found out what exactly means the error code 12.

    ------------------------------------
    + Error code 12 +.

+ This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system. (Code 12) +.

+ Two devices are assigned the same i/o ports, the same interrupt, or the same Direct memory access channel (whether through BIOS, the operating system, or a combination of both). This error message may also appear if the BIOS did not allocate enough resources to the device (for example, if a (USB) universal serial bus controller is not an interruption of the BIOS because of a corrupt MPS (Multiprocessor) system table). +
    -------------------------------------

Well, what to say; usually this error message should not appear with the original Toshiba preinstalled operating system.
I put t know if you have changed something or add an additional device, but it would be very interesting to know if the same error message appears after the reinstallation of the OS.
You can use the Toshiba Recovery CD/DVD of restoration!

All the drivers, the tools are already preinstalled on the recovery CD so the entire procedure will not take very long. about 10 min.

Check this box and report if the same error is displayed on the laptop with the factory settings!

    Good bye
