iCloud backup - is the reduction of reasonable size?

My iPhone backup takes almost 5 GB of storage iCloud.

I read http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4847 , which suggests the storage management to reduce the size of backups.

I can't disable all applications that are backed up and reduce the size of backups in a spectacular way, but does that mean that if I restore from that backup the apps will not be there?

My photos, email, calendar, etc. are saved elsewhere so that they are not included, in any case.

Applications I seem to take a few KB of hundreds of iCloud for backup storage is that the application itself?  I thought that the applications have been downloaded from the App Store?

see you soon

D

It's the content in applications that can be guaranteed up - as your conversations and images in WhatsApp or partitions etc. of the games you have played.

If you choose to not save - you risk losing content in the event that need to restore after an accident - the application itself will almost always be available for download on the App store unless it is cancelled or withdrawn (very very rare)

Also a list of applications that you have already downloaded is maintained in iTunes - if you have another place where you can go to redownload apps you may have lost or deleted

I'm not done a backup with organizing PS 12.  It stops at 16 or 17%, calculate the total size of media.  My Photo folders are about 180 GB.  I have 287 GB free on my disk of data.  My drive to Apps is a 100 GB SSD with 36 GB free.  When you save I gives me the choice for a full backup of the partial.  I chose full.  He doesn't want a folder.  Do not know why.  I transferred my files from my PC, then transferred my files USER PSE photo and everything worked fine, all the attributes have been transferred.  In addition, I have optimized my catalog; cleaned the tile CACHE by modifying the .dat to .old and restart files; set my registry of maximum size of the files in the Organizer to 1.5 GB, my largest file size is 1.2 GB.

files deleted plu catalog of 50 MB and all files and imported to hide them in.  Help Adobe has help to back up your catalog to an external hard drive or back up your catalog on a CD or a DVD (Windows only).  They do not mention something about the backup on your PC, they say no, you can't.  Well, oh, I have 8 GB of RAM and an Intel Core i7 processor.  Suggestions appreciated.

    @

I've identified the problem as to why the PSE Organizer 12 froze during backup procedures.  The problem of freezing for the calculation of the size of the backup file is caused by the existence of *. Types of MOV files.  My Nikon SLR so my Kodak digital cameras record video footage in *. MOV file formats.  It's probably a rare event, only users with Kodak or Nikon cameras would be affected.

I had to select, filter, all files *. MOV format and remove them from my catalog.  After the catalog has been backed up successfully on my hard drive, the same drive, the different folder, I had to drag and drop videos in order to bring back them to the catalog.  All tags and places and people have been lost.  I could not, do a search and import of folder.  If the catalog is backed up successfully.  It's probably a rare event, only users with Kodak or Nikon cameras would be affected.

    Case solved.

  • Why the reduction in file size drastic in cropped images?

I cropped just a picture of 9 MB a very SMALL amount and the resulting image was 756 KB. Why? Is this normal?

What are the dimensions in pixels before and after cropping? The file size is normally determined when you export a copy of the cropped image. It will depend on the settings you choose in the dialog box export for example image size, resolution and jpeg quality unless you export as PSD or by another file format which normally have larger files. In summary, that the file size is not that important as long as the image meets the requirements of your destination ex a picture with a resolution of 72 DPI to average quality compression will be fine for use on sites and blogs while you would need a resolution of 240-300 PPI and of high quality if you were doing an impression.

  • I have that one saved backup system, is there a reason to keep additional files prior to the last backup of system? I can remove them systematically?

I run the Windows Image backup to a hard drive external on a weekly schedule. The result shows on the hard drive as "WindowsImageBackup\(User name)-PC\Backup (date) (number)"-currently about 80 GB (binary).

I reserve about 135 GB of available space for backups of the system, so I save only the last backup of the system.

So far, I have no problem with that.

However, the disk hard, there is another folder '(USER NAME)-PC' & under which is a folder "backup of files (date) (number)" for each time that the backup system runs.

These files vary considerably in size - for example, 1 GB, 12 GB, 22 GB. They delete or replace automatically - just, they accumulate.

What I want to know is ~.

What is the purpose\importance of these additional files?

Since I only have a single saved backup, is there a reason to keep additional files prior to the last backup of system? I can remove them systematically?

    Original title: Windows Image backup

    Hello

    Thanks for the reply.

File '(Computer name)-PC "contains the files necessary for the Windows. Data files saved in libraries, on the desktop, and if the Windows folders for all people with a user account on the computer are also recorded.

[The default Windows folders include AppData, Contacts, desktop, downloads, Favorites, links, saved parties and searches.]

The size of these files increases, because the content of the folders mentioned above increases.

For more information, see the article mentioned below:

  • If I use iCloud photo library to share photos on my Mac, make the stay of the files full original size on my Mac or they stored in the cloud?

If I use iCloud photo library to share photos on my Mac, make the stay of the files full original size on my Mac or they stored in the cloud?

    Thank you!

The photos full size will always go to the cloud. They also remain on (or download) your Mac depends on if 'Download this Mac originals' or 'Optimize Mac storage' is ticked in Photos > Preferences > iCloud. If it is enabled, it also depends on how much storage is available on your Mac.

  • find the backup option icloud now on the iphone 6

Where can I find the icloud backup now option? It is no less "find my phone ' (settings > icloud) as the Apple tutorials indicates however on my iphone 6 it is only an 'Advanced' below the"find my phone"option.» When I type my legacy, it indicates the last backup was about 6 weeks ago. I'm signed in., even responds to security issues, and has been verified. Any ideas how to start back up without the back up option now?

In settings, click iCloud, and then select backup. Backup is located just below the portfolio and above keychain. ICloud backup lights up and after it starts you will be have the backup now option.

  • Hello! If I icloud library disabled, will be always saved pictures? I know that your backup stores the photo library of all devices and because I'm not all devices to be synchronized I think I'm safe and won't lose my pictures/videos. Right?

Hello! If I icloud library disabled, will be always saved pictures? I know that your backup stores the photo library of all devices and because I'm not all devices to be synchronized I think I'm safe and won't lose my pictures/videos. Can someone please clarify?

If you want your photos backed up, you must import them into the photos on the computer application that synchronize you with. iCloud photo library is a repository for all the photos for a given iCloud ID. However, it is not required for the care of your photos. I do not use iCloud photo library - import my photos into the library of Photos on my Mac.

A backup of your device iCloud will save your current film, but if you remove anything from this film, then it will not be available for retrieval at a later date, because backups replace the previous backup version. A backup is so not an archive safe for your photos or videos.

Photo stream keeps the last 30 days or 1000 photos taken with your camera if you have Photo Stream on, but once again, it's a temporary storage that gets crushed. Photo stream is intended to provide a method of sharing photos between the signed devices on the same iCloud account, but is not intended as an archive.

Import your pictures and videos on a computer means that all photos and videos are kept in a library on your computer and will be accessible. It is the only safe way to archive your photos:

    PHOTO IMPORT IOS ON MAC/PC

  • Two (optimized and Original) iCloud libraries on the same mac.

    Hello

I have a 2015 MacBook Pro with 256 GB of storage, a drive NAS 3TO and 700 GB iCloud photo library. Currently I have a local library of Photos on the laptop with the Optmize storage option in the Photos, the originals are in the cloud. Is it possible to have a file of additional library with a complete copy (with the originals) of the same library iCloud on the NAS drive? The library on the laptop could store the optimized content and the library on the NAS stock originals of the same library iCloud?

    This way:

    1. I have a backup of the master files of the size if the library iCloud on the NAS in my house
    2. I would have a quick access to the full size of my files so at home - especially useful with videos
    3. I would have access to the photo library to iCloud on the laptop and other devices while outdoors and online
    4. While at home, I would have the ability to switch between libraries (optimized on the laptop, original on the NAS)- but both have the same content.

Could you let me know if it is by no means achieve this, please? And if so, how.

    See you soon

    None

1 - photo library can not be on a NAS - it can be on a local disk in Mac OS extended (journaled) format related to a wired ocnnection quick

    2. only the system library synchronizes with ICPL and you can have a library of the system by user - you have two accounts on a single Mac each with its own library to ICPL system synchronization then you might have a library on an external hard drive connected correctly locally in a single account and a local library optimized in another account

  • iCloud backups / file management / free space

I have trouble managing the use of space in my icloud account.

I find it very intuitive and difficult to understand exactly what I am to be invited to do everything by managing the settings.

In other words, I find some options very unclear.

Signature in icloud on my mac through chrome browser, I am told that I use 4.4/5 GB.

It is stated that most of this is my iPad.

I suspect that most are backups of my real-world applications.

There is nothing else I backup via iCloud.

and I don't even save most of the data in applications.

I usually back up on my mac and remove the actual data of the apps to save space on my pad.

I tried to remove some of the saved app data

but it has released only a few KB.

When, on the ipad, I go to:

    Settings-> iCloud-> storage management

and goes off a few backup app, as I said, not useful space is released.

All this used a space could be due to many throughout the system to the top of the iPad.

But there seems to be no option to remove individual backups, only to stop iPad backup completely and remove the content FULL of all my backups [or, for "extra space"-"ideally"):]

In addition, it seems impossible to manage this through iCloud.com on my browser on mac OS x.

It seems that I have to use my iPad, which is also unnecessary in this case.

I prefer to manage it via my computer, using the keyboard and mouse and a respectable real file management interface; rather than some indigestible, imprecise, difficult to navigate, near-useless, icon-business, as it is.

If anyone can help diagnose me exactly how much space is used,

and how I can release disk space without having to stop my system backup and removing all existing backups together in order to have space [which seems completely redundant and the purpose of defeating]

.... I'd highly appreciate such opinions.

As a note on the side of criticism; I really find the iOS any system file management, with its 'fun icon' interface approach, but almost zero - control and utility in terms of management of files, to be very tedious / frustrating / tedious.

Why not give me a "finder" style access to file systems; so I can see clearly what is in place, I can remove, etc.

Sorry if this is State the obvious; but; in all there are no such problems with android and google reader.

iOS has been closed like that since the first day. If you want or need a file system, you will need to use an Android device. Your comment has no value here. Apple does not take its direction from remarks made here.

You can send your comments to http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

iCloud.com is not designed to handle files, only the content.

From your iPad itself, go to settings > general > storage & use iCloud > iCloud > Storage manage and look in the section of backups . You should see backups that you created and its size, on iCloud for your iPad. Tap on your iPad and there is an option to delete the backup here.

Your applications are not in your backup. They are stored on the App store, where they can be downloaded again if necessary. Toggling off the coast of the backup of the data of the App has questionable value because it is only of data an application creates, not the application itself. If you share an Apple ID with anyone or any other device, their content goes to iCloud as well. 5GB allowance is per Apple ID, not per device.

  • Creation of VM in local ESXi datastore for the backup of the data SAN with VMXNet 3 VM store

    Hi all

I would like to know how you have configured your server to backup as a virtual machine?

My idea is to use the local data VMFS3 store on my 3 x ESXi servers,

by installing the application of part 3 (such as Veeam Backup 5 or Backup Exec 2010) in Windows Server 2008 R2 VM

equipped with size of very big hard drive (OS 8 GB + 1 TB VMDK data partition) on each of the local data store to save the computer virtual within the SAN.

    What I have:

VMware vSphere essential 4 - ESXi 4.0 (not hot add)

    Dell Power Edge 2950 with 2.5 to multiple VMFS3 extended on top - RAID 5 (6 x 500 GB SATAII 7200 RPM)

Reference Dell MD3000i iSCSI SAN on Gigabit Ethernet

The configuration of the Windows Server 2008 R2 VM:

    2 x CPU @ 2.33 GHz

    4 GB OF RAM

VMXNet3 NIC-> for better connectivity to the backup between the local data store ESXi and iSCSI-SAN data store.

Here's the reason why I'm doing this is that:

    1. I don't have the additional NETWORK card to connect my physical server in iSCSI SAN THAT switch, so I can't use - SAN backup mode.

    2. I only use the available lowest VMware license that can't stand the Hot-add the device function.

Would it be an optimal configuration?

Any kind of help and suggestion to implement backup VM VM would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Kind regards

    AWT

From what I see of you think to do, you will get no advantage of using the VMXNET3 NIC, compared using an e1000 NIC... All your traffic will be on the connections of 1 GB, because you're leaving SAN local disk... If you had the VM on the SAN, or the same storage, the VMXNET3 NIC were going at speeds of internal circulation (could get you better than 1 GB, but I advise to test before committing)...

In addition, you will not be able to use a volume of OS 8 GB in Server 2008 R2... Bare minium is 32 GB (use plus 40 GB, which is that vSphere will use when you tell him to 2008 R2 for the operating system of the virtual machine)...

  • We are not able to take backup of the cartridge.

We have 5 files with a size of 40GB data.

We are not able to take backup of the cartridge.

The backup command ignores these 5 files alone & continues with the rest of the files.

The reason it says "the file size of more than 8 GB'. Since these 3 files are missing each time, the backup that we take is not a reliable backup that jeopardizing the Envirnoment Production completely if something happens to the database, that is, we will not be able to restore the data entirely.

Is there a possibility of splitting these data files? If this is the case, please let me know.
