Icons from the desktop and menu start locked on logon / closing of internet explore
Why the icons and the menu start locked on my desk with a log on and then when close internet explore in windows 7? I have to use ctrl alt delete to unlock items and then there are moments that just the start menu is locked and the desktop icons can be used. Some time back I had this problem on another pc and found an answer on the internet that has this problem but forget now how do. This is quite annoying, because I have not put this to block anything.

I am running Windows 7 Pro with service pack 1 and all the icons on the desktop Start Menu has changed into something that resembles a dat file and when you click on it, they are trying to run a download would be and asks where I want to save them. Symantec Endpoint, Microsoft Security Essentials, or AVG will find viruses or problems with the computer. I spoke with the technology of Windows and he sent me the link to this page.
I've never seen anything like this.Hello
It can be disappointing when all the icons on the desktop and Menu start modified in a dat file. I understand the inconvenience.
You can try to rebuild the icon cache and check if it works properly.
Click Start, click Control Panel, and write in the box search folders options.
b. now, click on Folder Options to open and select folders and hidden files (dot).
c. open a Windows Explorer window.
d. go to C:\Users\(User Name) \AppData\Local
e. right click on IconCache.db and click on delete.
f. click Yes to confirm the deletion.
NOTE: This deletes the file to the trash. It is safe to empty the trash when you are done.
g. close the window.
h. emptying the trash.
i. restart the computer.
j. When you come back, you will notice the size of the file IconCache.db is reduced, and the update is now the current date.
NOTE: If for some reason, IconCache.db isn't there or the size has not changed, then you can just restart the computer again. You may need to restart a few times in some cases.

Hello
I suggest to follow the steps provided and check if it helps.

Method 2: Change default programs using Set Program Access and computer defaults:
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/change-default-programs-using-set-program-access-and-computer-defaultsChanging the programs Windows uses by default: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Change-which-programs-Windows-uses-by-default

All of the icons on the desktop and on the start menu have the same icon and will not open... I have new sony computer with windows 7... I tried to move music to a file to burn a cd, he asked what program I should use to open them have all records have the same program and open the habit... I don't run a virus, malware, none of the infected files.
Hello
You did changes to the computer before the show?
Method 1
I suggest you try the steps from the following link:When you run an .exe on a Windows Vista-based or Windows 7 computer file, the file may start another program
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/950505Note: this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article: back up the registry in Windows 7
Method 2
The issue could be due to the virus on the computer. I suggest you run virus scanner online by using the Microsoft safety scanner.Microsoft safety scanner

when you do an antivirus online, you will lose data that are affected by the virus. Microsoft is not responsible for the loss of this data. -
Through white icon on the desktop and Windows Explorer.
Hello
A lot of my icons on the desktop and Windows Explorer is more appear a normal icon, instead, they show a white square.
Here is a screenshot of my 3 hard disks with shortcuts on the desktop.
http://i293.Photobucket.com/albums/m...blankicons.jpg
I tried to solve the problem by doing a rebuild of the cache icon but that did not work.
Anyone would be able to help me solve this problem?
Thank you.
Hello
Have you used the utility changes or registry to remove the shortcut arrow overlay?
First make sure the utility is uninstalled and the registry change is removed.
Try this and check if that helps:
1. right click on a box empty desktop and select Customize.
2. click on adjust the resolution of the screen.
3. in the drop-down color menu, select medium (16 bit).
4. click on apply.
5. when Windows you asked if you want to keep these settings, click No to restore your 32-bit color depth.
6. restart your computer.

You can save custom desktop icon position and restore it if necessary, using the Layout.dll of Microsoft shell extension. REF:Save and restore available to the icon on the desktop in Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista/7. Or try DesktopOK Freeware - save and restore the desktop icons.

I installed the app in my applications folder and everything works perfectly. But normally, after you have installed a browser, the installation disk icon that appears on your desktop can be ejected or removed without. Mine is back...
Make sure that Firefox is installed correctly.
Open the DMG file and drag the Firefox program in the folder of the application on your hard drive.
You should not double-click the Firefox application to run from the disk image and drag it out of the DMG file instead. -
I click right-properties and I get C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe Application not found.
I tried to download fixit and got the OPEN WITH menu.
It sounds like your .lnk and/or your .exe file associations may have been lost.
You can try to fix the ".exe" and ".lnk" file associations:

If you have a .exe association problem, you may need to run the restore of the system from the command prompt:

You are on a network in a school? If there might be one video files with the same name already exists in this folder.
Try to get the video files using add media videos from camcorders or cameras and by accessing the camera or the card reader by using the video importer. In the video importer, you can set the custom file name and rename your files so that they will not have the same names as existing files.

Restart your computer several times and see if it comes back. If this isn't the case, then you have a corrupt user profile.

Icons from the desktop in Windows 8
Hello
I tried what you suggested in this forum, but the icon just won't stay where I put them. I looked at other forums also. Surely, there must be a simple/easy way to keep the icon where you want it on a screen touch 8.1 win computer. Are there any new suggestions or corrections?
Thank you.
