ID network and password.

Hi guys

I had an XP PC and laptop and a Win7 PC and down them on a Wi - Fi network on a working group called 'X' and all PC happily talking to each other. A month ago, I replaced the XP laptop with a laptop Win7 and it and release the Working Group X without problem.

1 However, a lot of problems led me to need to have a mobile phone spare (identical) and when I ran across to the top, he finds the faulty laptop and has been set up on the working group using this and he contacted the task force without problem.

2. the defective is now gone and today I changed the name of the laptop replacement. But whenever I want to access another group of work machine, I get a request ID and password - only for Win7 machines; there is no problem with the XP machine! I changed the settings do not ask for a password, but it does not seem to solve the problem.

3. If I entered the name of my laptop because its ID and its network sharing Center password and it connected. I did the same thing with my PC and entered the name of the computer and the PC network sharing password Center and allowed access to this side here.

4 1 problem: although I found I can connect using these identifiers and passwords, I didn't click on "remember the credentials" even in the case where I'm doing something irreparable. A silly question, but can I enter the laptop for the laptop only password and the password for the PC network only for the PC or should I just use the a passwords for both?

5. issue 2: separately, in the network and sharing Center, I receive a message saying that Windows has detected another residential group on my computer and asks me if I want to join now. The thing is I don't know what is this homegroup, and I'm worried if I get the password of my PC I want to cause a problem and banjax connection I have via the ID and the password.

I hope it's clear enough to allow someone to advise.

  • Windows 7 network and password username request and it is not a?

I have 3 computers, a desktop computer running windows 7 Home premium, a desktop running windows 7 Professional and a laptop running windows XP. Since I have a computer running XP, I'm trying to network all using a working group not a homegroup. The xp computer can access the computer just fine and vice versa pro. The Windows xp computer can also access the computer home premium very well and vice versa. The problem is when I try to access the computer the computer pro family premium, I'm prompted for a user name and password. I checked all the file sharing options and both computers have enabled file sharing and both have the network password. Both computers share the same workgroup name and I tried to rename several times and the problem is always the same. I also tried to rename the computers and that has not worked.

I also have a PS3 connected to the same network, and there is no harm to access all 3 computers.

I spent 2 weeks at the problem, someone knows something similar?
    Thank you

If the working groups are the same on all systems, you must use the same user name and password. If you are not willing to do this, you should try mapping by replacing the domain name with the name of the remote computer. So if you are on a Windows 7 computer, you can connect to the older computer using the \\oldcomputername\usernameonoldcomputer and see if it works.

The best way to the network computers on a home network of non-member of the field has always been to use the same working group names and set the same username and password on all combo machines. I've never had a problem doing this, because the current network stack config was used in Win 2000 to Server 2008 R2 boxes.

  • Win7 network usename and password

I had one laptop wireless connected to my home network for years and had read/write access to the shared drives / directories during all this time.  Today, I tried to access the shared drives, as usual since my office and asked a network and password user name.

How will I know what they are, so that I can resume the sharing of files between the two machines.

I can see the name of the laptop and the directories shared which of I want to use the file manager on my office, but as soon as I try to see the files in these directories, I wonder username and password.

    Any advice would be welcome.

    Hello

Thanks for posting the query on the Microsoft Community Forums. You have reached the right place. Let us work together to find the cause of this problem and try to solve.

You can log on to the administrator account on your computer and turn off password protected sharing.

You can disable the password protected sharing on your computer. Follow these steps:

    a. open the network and sharing Center by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, click Network and sharing Center.
b-under sharing and discovery, click the arrow next to password protected sharing, click on stop sharing protected by password and then click on apply.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Post us the results after trying the steps above.

  • Win 7 ask network user ID and password

I'm having a problem connecting to a shared printer and a shared disk on a computer XP SP2 from the Profession. My Win 7 machines keep asking for network ID and password, that I have ever created. I have read and tried all of the suggestions of this old thread nothing helps:

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-networking/Windows-7-asks-enter-network-password-when/2a8e6d6f-74a1-43C7-8530-24e8522ea955

    Here's what I have:

-All my machines are on the same workgroup. All the machines Win 7 are not in a homegroup.
-Laptop 1: Win 7 Home Premium with password necessary sharing network disabled
Laptop 2: Win 7 Home Premium with password necessary sharing network disabled
Laptop 3: Win XP Pro SP2 with simple files and printers sharing active and has a printer and a USB connected hard drive
Laptop 4: Win XP Pro SP2 with simple file and print sharing enabled and allowed in a shared folder

When 1 or 2 portable Win 7 laptop trying to access 3 laptop (XP pro), the screen that ask you network ID and password always come and I have no password set, but one of these two machines Win 7 has no problem to access the 4 laptop computer that is also running XP Pro. The two XP machines have no problem accessing one or Win 7 machines, and both Win 7 machines have no problem to access each other.  I see four computers on my network card in Windows 7. I know that someone may tend to think the problem is on the side of the XP, but I searched everywhere on my XP machine, including the local policy settings under administrative tools, firewall, date and time setting, etc. The two XP machines is not any antivirus software installed. They are old and have almost nothing except the operating system device drivers and the XP laptop.

One thing I noticed, is that when I double-click the icon of the laptop 3 shown on my Win 7 network card, the ID and password prompt screen entitled the path. I can only say - it's as if the problem is in my Win 7 machine. If I double click on the computer icon laptop 4, I can feel about a second delay and all the shared folders that pop up.

I think I looked everywhere evident that I can possibly watch. Suggestions more? The reason why I want to go 3 laptop is Portable 3 is relatively newer and faster than the 4 laptop and I want old laptop 4 Finally. TIA.

OK, after a few days of curious, I found the problem and indeed it was... so easy. Here's what I missed - on the laptop that I had problem laptop 3, which takes place in Win XP Professional SP2 v2002, there is an option called "Network ID" under the properties of my computer (right click my Comuter), on the computer name tab. Once you click Network ID, go through the Setup Wizard and select "this computer is for home use and is not part of a business network", reboot the machine. Now Win 7 don't ask network and password identification number more.

  • "The specified network folder is currently mapped using a different user name and password", trying to connect to a remote drive.

Original title: the specified network folder is currently mapped using a different user name and password.__To to connect using a different user name and password, first disconnect any existing mappings to this network share.

I am trying to connect to a remote drive. I clicked to map the drive, entered the name of the drive, came the name of login/password for the computer turns on and then it give me this error message: the specified network folder is currently mapped using a different user name and password. To connect using a different user name and password, first disconnect any existing mappings to this network share.

In Windows 7 Enterprise, I would like to point out that, if you map \\server1\share1 as drive letter X using "user1" and "password1", then try to map \\server1\share2 (a different share) as drive letter Y using the same ID "User1" and "password1" and you select 'connect using different credentials' in the dialog box connect a network drive and specify the id "User1" and "password1". you will get this error MESSAGE INCORRECT that says 'the specified network folder is currently mapped using a different user name and password'.

    The message is bad because:

    1. the specified network (action2 in my example) folder is not mapped at all, and

    2. the server (in my example, "server1") is already mapped (to a different and different drive letter share) using the SAME user name and password.

The error message is wrong in two respects.

This let me puzzled for a while until I realized that once you have mapped to 'Server1' using the credentials, you can map to different actions on the same server without re - specify the credentials.  It is NOT CLEARLY the 'Map network drives' dialog box, which leads to users (like me, and I'm a programmer by trade) trying to enter credentials again and this incorrect error message.

  • Problem accessing my network on Vista drive when I try to back up the data on my PC... Does anyone know why it ask again me username and password?

I recently bought an external hard drive Iomega Network home. I've successfully connected to my home network. When I tried to back up the data on my computer on the network drive using backup under system and Maintenance of the Panel, he continues to ask me as user name and password I have no installation. I tried to use my password of the router and several other passwords, but it does not help. I have tried to map the drive to a different drive name and then access, but still it ask again me username and the password. Bottomline, there are user name and password, but still it ask again me one. How to solve this problem?

    Hi fox55

Thank you for using the Microsoft Answers Forums!

Try this step and check if it helps to solve your problem:

    Password sharing is turned on.

Password sharing is enabled by default for computers of working groups. When password sharing is enabled, people using other computers on your network cannot access your shared folders or printers unless they have a user account on your computer. There are two ways to enable file or printer sharing:

Turn off password protected sharing. To turn off password protected sharing, follow these steps:

    2. open the network and sharing Center by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, click network and Internet, click network and sharing Center.

    3. under sharing and discovery, click the arrow next to password protected sharing.

    4. click on turn off password protected sharing, and then click on apply. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. Note: Password sharing is not available on computers that are on a domain.

    Also check this:

Follow the steps to set password of the credentials under vacuum:

Create a shortcut to (map) a network drive

When you create a shortcut to a shared folder or computer on a network (also called mapping a network drive), you can get to it from the computer or the Windows Explorer without having to search or type its network address to each time.

    1. open the computer by clicking the Start button, click computer.

    2. click on map network drive.

    3. in the drive list, click a drive letter.

    4. you can choose any available letter.

    5. in the folder box, type the path of the folder or the computer, or click Browse to search for the folder or computer.

    6. to connect each time that you log on your computer, check Reconnect at logon .

    7. click on Finish.

Your computer is now connected, or mapped, to the network drive.

See this link for more information:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/create-a-shortcut-to-map-a-network-drive

Are there deposits in the router that blocks access? If there is, then try to turn it off and check if you can connect to an external hard drive. Go to this link:

  • Network Magic and Cisco router EA4500 UID and password

I use the 5.5.9150.0 version of the free product. I had my last router, with a WRT400N. Since then, I have installed an EA4500 router to replace the WRT400N. I'm glad that Network Magic works with my new router, but I have a problem: I can't connect to my router via Netowrk Magic.

Protection status/Wireless / Wireless Protection settings brings up a window that asks you the router user name and the password. I went to the page "Setting Up: Basics" guide of the user EA4500 (page 13) and tried all the values that I had copied in when I installed the router.

I tried the SSID of the router and the "Linksys Smart Wi - Fi Username ' in the user ID box.

I tried the "Linksys Smart WIFI password", the network, the Guest network password password and the router password (same as the network password).

Nothing has worked. I've only connected to the EA4500 using the Linksys Smart WiFi, username and password, so I'm stuck trying to figure what values to use.

Please help me understand what I am doing wrong. Thank you!

    I stumbled in the response:

    1. start Network Magic and display the network map.

    2. click on the name of the router (just under the router icon).

    3. click on Set Up or manage the device.

    4. the Linksys WiFi Smart Sign In (to the router) window appears.

5 connect to the router by using the credentials of Smart Wi - Fi that you set up when you have installed the router.

Now, all router commands will work from within Network Magic.

If you don't remember the password registered for you wireless, you can always reset your router to the factory default settings.

I got this message when trying to access a laptop on my home network. It's a laptop which came for years. The only change that occurred was the removal of a few videos to Windows Media Player. In fact, I was sitting near the laptop (laptop 1) that stores the video & audio files that I share on my network for years and an additional (cell 2) laptop computer on my network. I was simply remove a playlist via WMP and I witnessed portable 2 lose access to files I had shared for years with my home network. I don't even use WMP, I had just open trying to access the laptop 1 video/audio files to my PS3 system. I was clear an old list of video of WMP so I could add the extra avi files to the list that I had collected over the years. I wanted to not double many videos so I removed the videos in WMP list. Since then, I'm not able to share anything of my laptop 1 to the rest of my network. I did not like WMP before, now I really despise WMP. When I try to share a folder, right click, share with & click on homegroup (read/write), the option is not selected. Any solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
