    Hi all.

Can someone help me because I am new to Blackberry. This is my first phone Blackberry (8520). I'm going to push e-mail to hard to understand. When I get an email on my Blackberry email account it happens instantly, but this isn't the case with my Gmail and Hotmail accounts. On the Hotmail account, it takes up to 15 to 20 minutes for an email to arrive and although Gmail messages arrive faster than Hotmail, they are still much slower than the Blackberry mail. I did not implement these accounts correctly?. I disabled the POP on the gmail account and compatible IMAP which seems to have made a small difference, but it is still much slower than my Blackberry email.

I would be very grateful for any help.

    Thank you.

    Thank you.

German press reports the end of BlackBerry as a manufacturer of smartphone.

Is this true? And delays in updating a hint of the near end of the BlackBerry smartphones? And stop doing anything for the devices the year next after a last updated OS10 and Android?

  • BlackBerry smartphones my questions on the Storm 2 9520

Hello everyone I do not have a Blackberry but I intend to update my phone soon and get a (I currently have a Nokia N95 8 GB). I looked through the list of Blackberry models, and the 9520 that I fell in love was the Storm 2 9520. I will probably get one, but I have several questions that I couldn't find clear answers on google. I'm picky about details on a phone, so I want to know everything before get you it. Here is the list of things that I had on my mind:

-J' read that this phone records videos in 3gp format and not mp4. I'm a little worried about that, because I feel 3gp is less intense than mp4 by Windows (Win 7 user here). For example, 3gp, I filmed with an old phone years ago don't even open correctly in most players and no audio. So, is the format the phone records in playable correctly in Windows (Linux too)?

-J' I always rename my pictures and my videos after taking. With the 9520, you can click a button or menu entry to rename an image / clip immediately after making it? Or they be saved with a name only automated, and you need to open your file browser and navigate to the file to be renamed?

-A curiosity, I got on the touch screen if it is based only on the detection of heat or by pressing physics too. What I've seen, the heat detection is used when you lightly touch the screen and select the stuff / drag, while only pressing is used actually click. I'm curious because I could use my phone outside in the winter when I have leather gloves, and the screen can not detect my body energy then. Of course, it is difficult to use any phone with gloves, but I sometimes do to some extent

-Use the charger micro-usb port, or another port? I know that some devices that use USB for charging and connection to the computer, which is a method that I prefer in general. No problem if it is not, just curious.

-In the specs of the phone, it says maximum 8 GB micro-SD cards are supported. Someone can confirm that more cards are inconsistent and do not work (16 / 32 GB ones)?

-J' read on a website that the only way to configure e-mail is to have a Blackberry Enterprise Server (do not exactly know what what). But you need to register with Blackberry using a classic IMAP / POP email account (like gmail or yahoo mail)? And besides, you need to register with any Blackberry service to use 3 G internet supplier or to use messenger (YIM MSN and AIM)? I'm guessing not, but always ask to be sure.

-J' heard some phones have this limit / problem, so just to be safe: can put you MP3 transferred from your computer as ringtones? Or do you need to download them online from special services, as I heard some phones force you to?

-J' read on several websites that there are complications with the installation of applications via the data cable. That's how I install most of my programs of others on phones. So if I have a jar or jad file on my desktop, is there no possible to install it via data cable unless I have an additional file with it? Same question for no java Blackberry applications.

-All Web sites mention that the OS 5 web browser does not support flash on web pages (which I find quite sad). However, I can still play the files flash directly from my phone so I just open the swf file?

-Can you play audio files in ogg / wav format? In addition, it can play video ogv, avi or mpeg?

-Can I download themes for it that change the icons and colors of the menus? I guess the definition of custom screen (independent of the subject) shouldn't be a problem. Also, is there a free software that allows you to create your own themes and exporting it to the phone via data cable?

-Are there also a front-facing camera for 3G video chat?

-J' read on the differences between the 9520 and 9550 and that the 9550 has a frequency of additional network, sure it can work. Everyone says that you can not use a Blackberry in America if you buy it in Europe, in particular the 9520. Is this true? And the more vital than the 9520 9550 compatibility?

-OS 6 will come to the 9520 too? Some sites say it won't, while than others whether in devices that it will support an update. Hope very much it will be

-Finally, this could be a sensitive issue and I don't know how poorly seen on it is here. But it's easy to unlock / debrand the 9520? I would like to get the latest versions of firmware and do not have the limited phone.

Someone mentioned the provider to branding is not done for commercial reasons, but in order to keep the compatible phone (and shouldn't even be illegal to debrand). So I think it should be ok.

Yes, they are a lot of questions that may seem ridiculous. I got this phone for several years, so I want to know all about it. Thanks to all those who can help you meet them, and keep up the good work with phones

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

Wow! You do your job, I admire that! I'll answer what I can...

3GP is the native video recording format. All you need is the codec on your PC to read. I downloaded a free transcoder and it not only transcode avi (and other formats) for me, but also to put the codec appropriate in what I can play natively without transcoding. QuickTime, I think a codec were also held. There are plenty of audio and the recorded video.

Hmmm... haven't really tried to do... worst case, of course you can rename them later.

In fact, storm BBs use two detection of heat as well as the physical press. It's called SurePress technology. Heat detection determines where on the screen you touch and then physical pressure activates the 'click' somehow. The entire screen is great physical button, whose activity is determined by your finger on the screen position when you press. As such, I doubt it'll work with gloves on at all. I know, on the ski slopes, I remove my glove to do something with my 9550.

On the BB, a port for all functions. Micro USB for charging and attached USB data transfer. When connected to a PC with the drivers installed, the BB will be time load (from the USB port of the PC) as well as allow the transfer of data.

Technically, the BB model is unrelated to the size of the SD card, it supports. It is rather a function of the OS level that the BB is running according to the instructions this KB:

    • KB05461 Formats supported by the version of BlackBerry Device Software of card MicroSD

What this site is fake. If you happen to be in a business with BES (or purchase hosted BES) environment, you can indeed have the enhanced features that allow only to BES. But, through BIS (Blackberry Internet Service), you can interface more all connected to the internet e-mail services. See this:

I've never tried it myself, but I'm sure you can define file types to be ringtones to several media.

Applications can be installed via the data cable as long as they meet the necessary criteria to make according to this KB:

    • KB15172 How to install applications using the application loader tool in BlackBerry Desktop Manager

If you have the .jad file, which can simply be copied on the BB and then executed on the BB to install the application.

Yes, you can download themes (I have to admit no experience with this...) I found no need to use themes that I need my BB to feature what I need... themes he dressed simply in my humble OPINION). I have no idea on how to create themes.

This issue is not that I consider as responsible. Everyone has their particular circumstances they need to meet. The features of the search machine and the frequency ranges of carriers that you want to run. Then choose the device that fits your specific needs.

Without no doubt... but this isn't an authoritative answer. And you will not be able to receive replies by authorities here. Basically, upgraded the specs for OS 6.0 here:

With the series Storm conspicuous by their absence, I consider any current to be candidates for the OS6.0 storms. But it is indeed in my humble OPINION.

Hmmm... release information can be found here:

But I'm not sure of your premises. You seem to be saying that you are locked in your level of update of carriers, as long as your BB is blocked. This is false. Unlocking is simply the function to allow your BB run on a network of different carriers... at the level of the BONE is irrelevant to that. You are free to use the carriers released OS for your specific model BB... There is just a tiny thing that you need to follow. But unlocking is not necessary to do so. There's nothing illegal or anything about unlocking. But it is useless unless and until you want to reverse your BB to another carrier.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Blackberry not syncing with Gmail

My Blackberry Bold 9900 stopped sync with Gmail. I only synchronize e-mail, contacts, or calendar. I mainly use Gmail site on my PC to read and delete emails. I have more than 70 unread e-mails on my Blackberry that were already deleted from the Gmail Web site. The option 'balance' has no effect. I can receive new Gmail on Blackberry messages, but if I have to 'Mark as read' or 'Clear' an email actions does not sync with the Gmail Web site. The same is true if I 'Mark as read' or 'Delete' an email on Gmail Web site. The actions are not synchronized with the Blackberry. I have 2 Android devices and a Windows Phone that syncs with Gmail without a problem. I just have the problem on my Blackberry.

    My device information:

    BlackBerry Bold 9900

    7.1 bundle 2435 (v7.1.0.862, platform 5.1.0.662)

    Reconciliation of BlackBerry e-mail settings:

    Delete on: mailbox & Pocket

    Wireless reconcile: checked

    On conflicts: mailbox WINS

    Gmail settings:

Inbox, and garbage are included in IMAP feeds

Also, I tried to delete Gmail from Blackberry account. When I did he told me he would remove all Gmail messages from the phone but it moved all the Gmail unread messages in my main mailbox. (I keep Gmail and Exchange separate emails on my Blackberry). It is also impossible to select multiple messages at the same time to remove if they are not in a consecutive order.

Hello and welcome to the community!

With a strong carrier network (for example, not only WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2, each should result in a message from your BB... Please wait just before moving on to the next step):

    1) register HRT

    • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with wireless network
    • Please wait a 'registration' message reach your Messages application

    2) Remove and return Service books

    • KB05000 Remove the maintenance book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account in the BlackBerry smartphone
    • If you do not have access CMIME, continue deleting
    • KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    • Please wait "the Activation' Messages, one per already configured e-mail account, arrive in your Messages. If you have not already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

    3) restart

    • With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes.
    • See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

I hope that will move things again for you! If not, then you should try remove and re-add your configurations for the relevant accounts. Otherwise, you should contact your mobile provider for formal support.

    Good luck!

  • Ability to send SMS blackBerry Smartphones No.!

I have a bb bold 9780, just updated to 6.0 - bundle2921 on the advice of someone at rogers technical support.  It's a phone Bell, get it unlocked with the network mep code. When I tried to set up the e-mail, he said:-"your device had a problem connecting to the server." It is the business version, I think, I don't know too much about these phones, but when you try to disable the password function, there is a padlock icon next to the box with a check mark in this document, indicate that the setting cannot be changed.  The text messages icon is there, but there is no way to compose a new text. When you go to any contact in the contacts list, you can usually press the bb button and one of the options is to text the person. On this one, send SMS is not an option.  It seems to me that it may have something to do with the service book, but I can not change anything here either. Help!

Hello and welcome to the community!

First things first... If this BB is now or ever was associated by BES (since you said 'business',) then that must first be broken before you try anything else... the symptoms you describe are usually a BB sign that was once associated with BES, but the it policy was not properly cleaned. See this to verify:

    • KB30076 How to check for an it on a BlackBerry smartphone policy

If that turns out to be true and you are sure that you are not now a BES user to 100% (for example, you got this BB 2nd hand and the previous owner has had not the it policy, but they "divorce" it from the BES server), then you can clean it with this procedure:

    • KB31291 How to reset a BlackBerry smartphone to factory using BlackBerry Desktop Software Settings

Take account of the warning... and therefore the reason why I said to do this first before trying anything else, because this will completely WIPE the BB clean, returning as long as "new factory", but the it policy will be gone.

If you have data that you need to keep, then by all means do a backup first... but, when you restore, DO NOT do a restore roughly... If you do, you simply put it on board policy... rather choose you need when you restore specific databases, avoiding in particular those that have something to do with politics.

    • KB03974 List of database for the blackBerry smartphone

Good luck and let us know!

  • Canoe of blackBerry Smartphones to send and received email on verizon storm 2 9550

My BB 9550 verizon so far cannot be sent or received by e-mail. XL axiata (BIS). OS v5.0.0.1082. Try to complain in the XL Center and customer service says that the BlackBerry smartphone has boredom, which is true? In the service book, notice is rejected CMIME. several times I try send the maintenance of the device address, delete DM and send the book service once again, but so far is EVEN. NO CONFIGURED MESSAGE SERVICE. YOU WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO SAVE AS A DRAFT. Who's wrong? Provider XL Axiata or smart phone BlackBerry?

Re: Disabling BES of the handheld

After his contacts on the PC, I'll make sure that you have installed 4.7 DTM and go to the command line

type: cd c:\program files Research in motion\apploader enter

    type: enter loader.exe /resettofactory

This should remove the policy from IT previous of the device and wipe the device then you can resync everything back to the device.

Thank you so much for: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Curve/Deactivating-from-BES-from-the-Handheld/td-p...

It is very useful for my trouble.

    Thanks for you all.

  • Button of browser blackBerry Smartphones No. on curve 9300?

Hi all, my original BB curve 9300 was stolen - son he has liked it so much I bought another one from an Internet auction site. All was well until my son has noticed there was no browser button. I rang vodafone who said that everything was fine with his contract. They helped me through the access remote and backed up, then tried to restore and update all nothing done. The only thing they think is that it is a business phone where a company buys a quantity of phones to give to employees, but they do not surf the net, so it is disabled. My question is, is that correct? Can do something to restore the navigation, or is it something else?
    Thanks Nicky

Hello and welcome to the community!

What they say is true... see this

    • KB05099 Steps to take before selling or after the purchase of a used BlackBerry smartphone

If the seller has not completed ALL their steps, you have purchased a device that can never be able to function fully. But, if all is what the seller failed to detach the COMPUTER of the BB policy, then you can do indeed:

    • KB18998 How to reset the factory default BlackBerry smart phone

Other methods of DELETION do not remove a COMPUTER policy... only this method has.

Good luck and let us know!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Google sync on the blink?

    Hello

I just deleted google sync app to my BB and took the advice of RIM here to allow syncing of my BB calendar with my google calendar - http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/viewdocument.do?noCount=true&externalId=KB24204&sliceId=2&cm...

However, despite advice it is certainly not true that "contributions sent the BlackBerry smartphone are synchronized with the calendar based on the web in a few seconds." I saw an entry on gmail after 10 minutes and I'm still waiting for the others.

Is there a known issue with this? I have no problem with the network at all.

    Thank you

    Luke

If please try reebooting your phone and connect to your google calender after 5 minutes.
