  I tried the Disc Creator that came pre-installed and also Nero 9.2.6.0. All this on Vista 32 bit.

  The problem occurs only at the beginning, I tried with three discs, so I don't think that the disks are the problem. In any case, they are DVD + R DL Verbatim and support up to 8 x, while the recorder goes only up to 4 x for the double layer, so I think I'm ok.

  My suspicion is that maybe the firmware in the DVD version needs update... He mentions Hw 1.00, 1.10 Fw. Other manufacturers of laptop as offer updated firmware DVD for her, but I couldn't find one of TOSHIBA.

  There are several disks for Portege M700, they are compatible. Usually in the user manual, you can find a list of supported CD/DVD players they are pre-tested by Toshiba and work correctly.

  If you have any other questions about a new drive, ask the service provider authorized in your country. They can offer you a compatible player.

  You seem to allude to the original installation discs that come with the Mac. The ONLY place you can get those legally is Apple. They work as with the Mac model, they were originally shipped with. They are licensed to be used with the machine they accompany. The license cannot be legally separated from the original machine. The price varies so much is because criminals are free to charge what they want.

  Call AppleCare and see if you can buy a replacement for your machine-disc set. The charge is usually minimal.

  There are many different models of Satellite P100, and I think that the units were delivered with different drives.
  But if the laptop came with DL reader so it should also could handle the DVD + RW.

  Does happen with different DVD + RW from different manufacturers?
  I think that in the manual you will find a list with tested and compatible media that you can use.
  This list, I found in the user manual on my satellite.

  I'm not sure if I understand you doubt correct but must boot from the Toshiba recovery disc. I put t know what laptop you have exactly, but go to the start menu and select the CD/DVD drive to start. After that, follow the instructions on the screen.

  Looks like something was wrong during the recovery procedure.
  Have you tried to recover the laptop once more?
  If this isn't the case, you should definitely try this!

  You are right; hasn t drive recovery option for the repair because the recovery disk is not the same as a MS Vista drive. The recovery disk contains image files (it s a package) and the files contains Vista, Toshiba drivers, tools and additional software.

  So if something was happening well wrung out during the recovery procedure, you will not be able to repair the installation of the OS, but you need to run it again.

  Perhaps, your recovery disk is corrupt. What happens if you try with Windows disk copy?

Before I have it I order the recovery for my computer disk to reinstall but unfortunately reinstall option disc never came. The recovery partition has been used to reinstall so my computer. And please also give advice on the update after. Should I do Windows updates first or updates of HP first. And when it comes to updating the BIOS there are 3 available updates. Can I download and install all 3 starting from the oldest to newest or just the new version? Then when my Windows 8 is fully updated with the HP and Windows tips on how to reinstall Windows 8.1 (free update of Windows Store, no disc) and update? I know I'm asking a lot, but I want to just make sure I do this right so I can enjoy my computer again and if there is a problem, I'll have some kind of reference to look to see where I was wrong.   Your best option is to use the recovery media that you should have made when you purchased the computer.  If you do not do this, the only other option you have is to buy the media at HP.  The recovery media will restore your computer to its original configuration and reinstall the recovery partition.
