  Hi all
  
  I developed a site in DW CS3 on a PowerMac, running OSX.4, but cannot test in IE in any later version IE5.
  
  Is there a way I can test in IE6 and IE7 without asking someone with a PC to do it for me?
  
  I have Virtual PC recommended to me as a possible workaround. Can someone tell me if this is the best option, and how it works?
  If not, is there another way I can do this without having to spend £180 on additional software?

  The version of Internet Explorer that came with Mac OS X is radically different, it is the counterpart to the window. In addition, Microsoft it rejected after version 5.2 after Apple came out with Safari (maybe 4) about 3 years.
  Parallels is designed to operate only on most recent Intel based Macs. It does not work on the old PowerPC (G3, G4 or G5) Mac. If you can find a copy of Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac then more power to you (because the Micro$ oft has pulled the plug on that when Apple passed to Intel chips).
  You 4Seul options are either buying a cheap with a version of Windows PC, use the window of a friend based PC, buy a new Intel based Mac with Parallels or Bootcamp (way Apple to allow the Intel Macs so that it starts with Windows instead of Mac OS X) or use an online service such as the above mentioned browsercam.com.

• make-weight: bold;  -works in firefox, safari, internet explore 6 BUT NOT ie7

  font in bold. on an external style sheet style sheet works in all browsers (INCLUDING ie6) but NOT ie7?

  I just don't understand. It even works in ie6.

  NOTE: One thing I should mention is that I have a conditional statement of Internet Explorer to Internet Explorer specific style sheet that targets ie6 and ie7.

  But I don't think that's the question because all other styles works properly EXCEPT make-weight: bold. It's absolutely maddening.

  I tried searching around solutions and the only head I found was written [police-weight: "BOLD"! important;]  ] in using this "!" important"statement I thought would somehow ie7 to recognize. But no dice. He failed.

  I'm agree that these validation errors are probably not what is responsible for the lack of a "BOLD" weight, but just to finish.

  -Here's the shocking news.  I think you * are * getting the bold characters in IE7.  It's just that they are small.  At least, it looks like this myself in IE test...

• OfficeJet 5615 black stripes during the scan

  My Officejet 5615 works perfectly, but in recent months, it shows black scratches on document scanned on the glass. Bands go for the length of the scanned page, and the glass is clean. I guess there is something wrong with the 'pixels/conduit' scanners. You are looking at him directly when it works I do not see the strange light differences between all the lights/pixels. Would it be the internal scanning module simply dirty on some lights? How can I disassemble the glass and have access to a scanner directly so I could clean it up? Thank you

  I checked the manual and it does not provide how to remove the glass from the printer, unfortunately.

  Make sure that the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (do not use a hub or a surge protector)

  Problem number one causing lines in the analyses.

  I have provided a document through the steps to see if it will solve this problem.

  Vertical stripes, lines or streaks on Copies, faxes or scans.

  Do you get the lines when you perform a copy?

  Try the ADF and glass to see the results.

  I met this document for How to clean the Scanner glass. The document is good for different models.

  Since there is no documentation for your printer probably, it is not recommended.

  Use your own descreation. It might help you understand how to remove the glass to clean it.

  If it has not the tab then it is probably sealed in it.

  Personally, if it were me I wouldn't remove my printer.

  You might want to consider appeal to HP, they may be able to offer you a discount on a newer model. Contact HP worldwide.

• Cannot install KB2360131 on locked system XP SP3

  It takes a bit of history.

  I work for a software company that writes software for ATMS (ATM cash) by a Microsoft approved locking method that prevents access to Microsoft Windows Desktop for running our application. These ATMs are under WIndows XP SP3 and the base of IE6 installation. IE7 and IE8 have not been installed on the test computer.

  Due to this locking and these ATMs do not connect to the Internet, but wrap each executable Windows Update in a msi file. This method has worked for more than three years until now. Only the Microsoft cumulative updates for Internet Explorer do not settle by using this method. All other install correctly.

  The msi (created using Installshield 2008) performs a custom action to run the executable file of Cumulative Update.

  The command line is:

  msiexec /i MS10 - 071.msi / quiet/norestart/log MS10 - 071.log.

  Due to the inability to install we update the command line for the Cumulative Update to include logging for the update as well. This paper has the following:

  When we execute the msi file on the desktop (after termination of our application), the package seems to install. The user under which runs our application has administrator privileges, but it is not the default XP administrator account.

• Manage Add-ons within IE

  My question is can modules managed in IE Thinapped and broadcast on the network.

  Perfect example is Flash v10.

  Just a bit of history. In my office we use VMView with linked Clones. The pools are configured to use persistent settings for the same user hits the same box at the signing in sight.  Well not everyone uses Flash and we want to run as lean as possible pools (pretty bad when you start targeting IE Add-ons).   Start with a Windows XP SP2 with IE6 (if the IE7 should be used on a Windows XP). Run Setup Capture and install IE7. It's the settings mentioned in the items above, which is the trickiest part.

  Please keep in mind that IE is one of the most difficult to capture applications. You should do this only if you know ThinApp in depth and really need to virtualize IE. Most of the time, you can IE just run inside a bubble. Do not enter IE.

• deep mysteries of javascript/Flash

  I have a menu system that employs both a popout javascript and Flash. See here: www.embracethefuture.org.au/test. By clicking on an element in the menu flash calls a javascript function to open the relevant pop-up menu. Whent mouse user it moves out of the area menu, the menu is hidden by js, then a reminder is made in Flash to restore the appearance of the menu (the white arrow lit must return to yellow). It works just fine and dandy in Mozilla, etc., and I'm sure that it works in IE6, but in IE7, Flash cannot add the callback function. I get a javascript error that there is no element of this type as "sidemenu". I thought that it might have to do with the fact that the flash content is written in JavaScript (to avoid the need to activate the controls), but the error always occurs when I hard code flash.
  
  I do not write Javascript or Actionscript because I'm almost certain, that there is no fault there. I was wondering if guru out there knows of this problem with reminders Javascript in IE7 and a solution for it.

  I solved this problem. The problem was that I had converted to ASP.NET and flash has been incorporated in a form of server, which created problems for IE. I've found a workaround. See you soon.

• Flash object does not appear

  With the help of DW8.0.2, I've added a flash object to the model used in http://www.onyxfordfarms.com. The flash opens in FW and IE7 when I saw the model, however, after that I updated the pages, the flash is not displayed when I previews index.shtml. I compared the object between the model and the index.shtml code and it is identical.
  
  Also, when I download the files flash and index.shtml (other files not downloaded), I don't see the flash on the home page in any browser. However, if I display only the file flash ( http://www.onyxfordfarms.com/images/houseshowring2.swf), I can see it in FF and IE6 but not IE7.
  
  I'm totally lost - can someone point me to a solution?

  I made a Web site in DW (MX 2004 Mac 10.4) which seems just what is s'posed to on Safari, IE5, Firefox and the browser, but in IE7 differences appear between some of the cells of the table, giving it a broken appearance. Now, because of the rounded the table consists of a number of images and colored cells. Does anyone have an idea on what I could do to remedy this?

• How to fix IE6 vs IE7 displays

  I'm quite new to Dreamweaver and on this forum. I have a site http://www.greenproductsenterprises.com/ which seems different web of IE6 IE7 vs. I noticed that IE7 does not display completely the lines around tables or can display other items differently. In IE6 the project looks and works as I want.
  
  How to reslove this difference. I also have to get other browsers such as FireFox and Mozilla to test the site in these browsers. Other recommendations?

  If I use get - vm | format-table in the script, I get an error

  Hi Christian,

  This happens when your script generates two different types of records. In this case, the output of the Connect-VIserver and cmdlets Get - VM. You can prevent this behavior in your case by changing the line Connect-VIServer in $VIServer = ConnectVIserver.

  Hi, I'm relatively new to Browserlabs but I find it very useful.  All I see in IE7 is the background as well as my question has to do with the way a page can makes it OK in IE6, perfectly in IE9 and not even load ('page fault') in IE8...

  Of course, it works fine in FF, Safari and Chrome

  The only glitch in IE6 is that the background is missing, so it's a bit ironic that IE7 displays ONLY the bottom...

  I'm watching a browserlabs on a mac, usually in Firefox.

  The problem of IE8 seems to be the same as described here on the frame of the answer: https://github.com/scottjehl/Respond/issues/27#issuecomment-2109126

  This seems to be a matter of IE8 exposed by the use of the html5 boilerplate stuff.  There are a few possible causes and workaround solutions identified in the thread - can you try and see if that solves the rendering in IE8?

• IE6 IE7 results display

  Hey its weird but...

  Description of the problem

  I find that "after a period of time" to make IE6 and IE7 results simultaneouslyresults, the IE6 browser window begins to show the IE7. Once it starts always seems to return the results of IE7. Log out and back in again, seems to fix the problem but it is not guaranteed - sometimes this solves the problem right away and sometimes it isn't.

  Steps to recreate

  Expected results

  I have conditional stylesheets which becomes the bottom of the box red welcome to IE6 and green for IE7.

  Actual results
