My Envy 17 - 3xxx (3D) has a 80 GB SSD as boot/OS drive and a 1 TB HARD drive as secondary.  I would replace the 80 GB SSD with a 500 GB new and faster SSD.  I cloned the SSD existing to the new device, all good.

However, I * physically cant just find the (existing) primary SSD drive *.  I took the back cover off, the two additional drive bays are here, I looked under the battery, CDROM, etc.  Clues?  I hope that if I just share, I'll be set.

Otherwise, I could leave the existing 80 GB SSD in there * if I could figure out how to set the boot devices order *.  Currently, the BIOS allows me to internal versus external rather than network vs CDROM as classes start command, but not the individual devices.  Clues?

  • MacBook pro late 2011 glitches after logic board replacement

    Hi all!

I end 2011 macbook pro in April 2015, I got free logic board replacement because of glitches of gpu (http://www.apple.com/support/macbookpro-videoissues/) but now I'm having the same problem again. my macbook showing pink lines on startup apple logo and does not start.

Can I replace my logic board again (it will be 2nd time) this program?

Depending on which country you are (United States I guess) you should actually be covered under various consumer protection regulations and must now insist on a replacement machine. This defect is a manufacturing defect and that you already had a repair that did not set you have the legal right to a replacement. That said I should advise that Apple do not tend to stick to their legal obligations in this case (I know I have a macbook 13-inch pro who had questions on the first day and despite extensive repairs Apple still refuse to replace - although clearly indicated their own conditions of sale & the law here) He should have).  On another front repairs performed on any product should work properly for a "reasonable" period Again the definition depends on what country you are but in Europe, which is usually recognized only 6 years old at best. Good luck!

  • How to replace the logic board MacBook Pro mid-2010

I have a MacBook Pro 13-inch mid-2010. About once a week, monitors (one who is part of the laptop) and an external will turn grey and freeze. When I turned off the computer, it brings back me to the login screen (I'm under 10.11.5), but I can't move the pointer (whether with my Apple Wireless Mouse or trackpad) to select the icon for my login. After a few reboots, the computer takes care of the password reset function. And there, I can reuse the mouse, select Restart the machine, and I'm back on my way.

The genius of Apple and I suspect that the problem is with the logic board. Unfortunately, Apple has more parts for MacBook Pro mid-2010. I contacted a few service centers certified Apple the kind told me; None of them can help either.

Any suggestions for how I have a fix for this problem? Thank you!

You could contact a specialist to see what their requirement is to send you the

computer while for a diagnosis appropriate; a specialist is the one who can do all the

works internally and could actually fix the edge logic that the Mac came with.

I know some who do this; they charge more than a parts Exchange hosting.

You can see what a company such as wegenermedia can do. Or see what the

iFixit guide for Mac (for your specific model) said repair and watch to see who

part numbers are involved in replacement of the like-kind in refurbished or tested

OK, from sources such as powerbookmedic.com and other sources used parts.

The logic board may not be a problem; might be some on the Board of directors or of one which

attached to, such as the graphics processor. These older models are not

so difficult for a specialist expert set. While the Mac is able to do so, is a good time

for they provide labour expertise to swap upgrade replacement parts.

They can test the feature set and should provide a guarantee for employment.

Some of these companies repairs also restored the supply of older computers they fixed.

    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Should I replace logic board or cable hard drive? MacBook Pro 13 mid 2012

Hello guys I suffer for the last two weeks of my Macbook Pro would be grateful if you help me.

    Summary:

A few months ago my mac has been slow and when I restart or stop it would take a minute or two, what has not happened in 2012-2014. In 2015, I decided to upgrade my SSHD HDD - Seagate 1 TB (that I'd need more space and a better performance). After that the upgrade of SSHD everything went well, my mac has been rapid, the battery has now 8 hours of battery life (440 + cycles). Overall it was a great experience! However during the night my frozen Mac even the mouse cursor, so I closed my Mac and it set in motion this time he showed me an icon of the slash. I disassembled my Mac and handed the stock HARD drive. This time, he showed the white screen without the disks. I tried several boards of various sites and one from the tip which has been WORKED safe mode! When I restarted, he returned to square one... I used the same trick but it didn't work. Now I see that a white screen on both discs, sometimes the issue icon flashes. Just for you find the hard disk turns but does not recognize... Although she acknowledged on my other Mac.

I just remembered something just before this incident happened, I was cleaning up my Macbook with a small wet towel size (including the liquid soup inside) and then I cleaned the screen, the trackpad and keyboard (some liquid went inside the thing black screen and some of them inside the edges of the trackpad) but I them rinsed quickly. After 2 days, the slash screen appeared, and that's how it started.

I removed the battery to see if there is any corrosion or something unusual about this, I also checked the trackpad, and it wasn't any dry liquid or dust, etc.

    Get to the point:

Currently, I use my Mac through an external SSHD and everything works fine, but I want to stop using this method and thus solve the problem.

    Issues related to the:

What exactly is the problem? Is my logic damaged Board and keep my HARD drive to recognize?

Do you think that my card is fine, but I just need to replace the cable from the hard drive (821-1480) to a new?

What happens if the hard disk thing stuck on the logic board or is damaged?

Please help me and I'm sure that others are also facing a similar question. Another note, why some users claiming that their disk cable hard is to failure after replacing several times?

We do not know "What exactly is the problem?". Get out your computer to an authorized for assessment service center. I suspect that you have caused water damage when the water and soup entered into your computer. Be prepared for a fix expensive since the water, not the soup ir and electronic works well together.

  • MacBook Pro 13' - logic board replacement

    Hello

I bought myself a Mackbook Pro (end 2011 model) and it doesn't have the bees working properly. It spontaneously turned off a few times. And the last time it happened I took it in to an apple store for orientation. I was told that I have to replace the logic board, and it would cost more then a whole new Macbook Pro for the repair.

I did a search on the internet, and to my surprise I discovered that there was a RECALL for this same model end of 2011.

    Does anyone know this recall?

There is a programme of replacement of 15 "and 17" 2011 Mbps and NO 13 "Mbps.

    https://www.Apple.com/support/MacBookPro-videoissues/

I suggest that you look on the Internet for a functional logic for your MBP adapter and install it yourself.  Good place to look up the prices indicated Powerbookmedic.com iFixit.com.  They also have detailed instructions on the installation process.

    Ciao.

  • 15 mid-2010 "MacBook Pro Logic Board

Excuse me if I do this wrong, because this is the first time I ever used something like this, other than looking for things.  So I apologize in advance for any missteps.

I recently took my mid-2010 "15, 2.4 GB MacBook Pro in an Apple retailer approved and found the logic board is the problem.  They also informed me that there was a 'reminder' on this point to be replaced free of charge.  However, this recall went to day a few years ago.  Nice, since I have nothing received from Apple on any reminder & it was not giving me any problems so far, apparently I'm screwed now.  The dealer said that because my machine is now considered to be "vintage", Apple has more room, the #661-5566 or #661-6360 in stock MLB & my logic board current should be sent to Florida to Arizona to be "renovated" and then reinstalled.  Apparently costing a little more than $500.  Ouch!

I had been thinking of buying the new 2016 15 "MacBook Pro when it comes out later this year and using my old one as a backup.  However, as Apple could not extend the courtesy of advising me of this initial reminder of my logic board, spare me $500, I am strongly reconsider this purchase.  Unfortunately, I like Apple products and have bought several iPads, the large iPad Pro and Apple iPhones right up through my iPhone current 6.  Invested in Apple's it makes profoundly difficult to get away from them, but not impossible.  Had they notified me of the recall, I wouldn't have these problems now.

My logic Board recommendations or suggestions are greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

  • How to get the new logic board with 16 GB of RAM for my Macbook Pro retina 15 mid 2012?

1 month ago I brought my Macbook to the Apple Store Genius Bar to check the GPU because I was worried about small lines on a screen while playing games.

After 3 days of test engineering guys gave her back to me and told me that there is nothing they can do in this regard, because was unable to reproduce the problem, but gave me an option - completely replace the logic board for 700CAD. At first, I said NO, but also asked them, if they can replace the logic board, but with 16 GB instead of 8 GB, I immediately. I'll have to pay the money anyway, right? Why not?

Long story short - they told me that they cannot do and can replace the logic board with the same RAM mount my Macbook at the present time. Specialists support Apple tells me the same thing via Chat application on the Apple Web site. Funniest - none of them could give a reasonable answer why they cannot do so.

It's the same logic board, with the same size, but with more RAM.

I understand that they need to sell more laptops and, if I need more RAM, I can go and buy the new Macbook, but to be honest, as an International Student I simply don't have so much money.

So why can't they do it?

You deal with politics Apple and no one on these forums can do something for you, since we are like you, only users of Apple products.

Consider selling your MBP and put money to one with 16 GB of RAM.

    Ciao.

  • Retina pro MacBook 13 inch (early 2015): logic board failure

I have a macbook pro retina 13inches (early 2015) that I use only for study and check emails. a few weeks ago I noticed that the camera not working. I took the mac for help and they told me it's a question of logic board and I should have a new. It's too expensive, and the warranty just expired. Is this a common problem with MacBook? Feelimg so frustrated! I thought I had purchased quality equipment.

  • MacBook Pro 13,3 "retina Logic Board failure?

I bought my MacBook Pro 13,3 "Retina display nine in early 2014 before going to College.  This is the most expensive item that I have ever owned I always made sure to take the greatest care in the use and handling.  About a week ago, I went to turn it on and a prohibitive symbol appeared on the screen (a white circle with a slash) and after that, it was completely cut off.  I took it to a (MicroCenter) renamed repair store and they said it was a failure of the logic board and would cost nearly $700 to fix.  Everyone knows this Council logical fault problem?

I am extremely disappointed by Apple because I thought of them as the cream of the cream with advanced technology "State-of-the-art".  I expect this device to last until the end of my academic career to a minimum and the fact that it's broken in less than two years is absolutely unacceptable. I did some googling and I saw a trial about the logic board failures in 15 '' MacBook Apple of 2011-13 and had published a complementary repair program.  I hope they do the same with my case.

Again, someone else has their logic board fail randomly?

    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to Apple Support communities

Sorry to hear that. I suggest you take a look at the forums of MacBook Pro to find cases similar to yours and check if there is a systemic problem or if you just had bad luck. Obviously it will not be a legal action if this problem is reduced to a few users, but there's a chance if this is stated as a failure of the design.

About your problem, it looks more like a problem of flash storage rather than a failure of the logic board, but retina MacBooks Pro have most of their parts soldered to the logic board, so, any repair is quite expensive. Finally, if you live in a European country, remember that your Mac has got a 2-year statutory warranty, then you may qualify for a free repair.

  • Replaced logic board

December 2015 new display iMac with the retina 5 k, 4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1867 MHz DDR3. The problem started when I opened a photo in preview or Photoshop. The screen was decided in 2 different colors and have to restart. I couldn't open a pic in the preview and work in Photoshop.

During this time, my camera was working fine and I used video Skype without problem. Then in January, I sent the new iMac to an Apple dealer to solve this problem, and they changed the logic board. It took 4 months to be repaired, he I just for 2 weeks now, preview works fine and photoshop as well BUT I realize that the camera to the iMac does not and the microphone internal as well.

    I have 2 questions.

1 - How the camera and the internal microphone can be fix

    2. when they replaced the logic board, I lost my serial number not available.

    Really need help.

    Where are you from?

You do not have a real Apple Store to take your iMac to any type of repairs?

You take your iMac to a new Center Apple authorised dealers/repairers and it took them almost 5 months to repair/replace a logic board in your new iMac?

If a new iMac, your statements read as if they were NOT in the very competent repair center for me.

I would have set up an adjustment NOT seen my iMac nine 5 months and fry it with, however, other problems.

Why, no real Apple don't Store to take your iMac to.

Is this repair center labeled as an authorized Apple dealer/service center or is it some computer shop electronics/generic, simply stating that they can fix Macs. Doesn't seem to be a very competent repair center, at all! IMO.

I think you need to, once more, it bring for repair as the repair center has not done something right (AFTER 5 MONTHS!).

If you have any actual Apple store, you can drive to, I bring in for repair and explain what has happened with this new iMac, so far.

Better yet, you can call Apple directly at 1-800-MYAPPLE and speak with the service the customer of what happened with your new iMac purchase and see what they can do for you.

Your iMac should NOT have this kind of questions after a month and still problems after waiting 5 MONTHS for the logic of BIG boxes replaecment after just a MONTH of USE?

    Contact Apple directly, first.

This iMac should NOT have all these difficulties.

See if they would replace your iMac and the plug by another new unit model.

If this does not happen, and they offer to continue to fix, then make sure that very soon that you pay and save extended AppleCare that gives your new iMac two additional years of warranty repair.

    Good luck!

  • You can improve the macbook pro 15 inch 2015 logic board

I am the proud owner of a macbook pro mid 2015, 15-inch retina display 2.2 Ghz i7 (integrated graphics).

I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade dedicated to one with the graphics card logic board or is there a compatibility issue?

I know that the macbook pro with dedicated graphics card is the same size and all that one that I have so I was wondering if the logic boards are the same size.

    I hope this isn't a stupid question.

    Bruno jeanluke says:

I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade dedicated to one with the graphics card logic board or is there a compatibility issue?

I'm sorry. After the purchase, upgrade of the internal components is not possible.

If you wish, you can sell the Mac you have and buy another Mac with the specifications you want.

I just had the logic board replaced in my mac pro book.  Now, when I start my vm, it says:

The virtual machine will not be able to communicate with the host or

  • Is it worth to replace a macbook pro with an old mac pro?

    I have a 13 "macbook pro mid 2012, core i5 2.5 ghz and 4 GB of RAM

I plan to replace an old mac pro with intel xeon 3 GHz dual core or quad (maybe from 2009 or 2010) and slowly upgrade by adding more RAM, sound card, and video, etc. (I won't change the logic board)

Computer will be used for the games, but especially for a music with logic studio Pro X (requires OS X El Capitan)

    It's worth?

OK, now you have 2013MBP 13 inches, and you said topic you will use the computer to do some professional work as a music studio (btw, I somehow like music studio, but I could can't work on that to this life) and games.

and now your account to replace it with a Mac Pro, which is a desktop computer, I have to say that they are in any other product, and you are already thinking on this subject, which means that you don't have to wear it around right? So, personally, I recommend the CHANGE! There?

as you say you only have two choices, keep the macbook pro 13 "or replace with the older generation of the Mac Pro, I would say 13-inch MacBook Pro can almost do anything even the latest generation! since low-votage and integrated dual-core process just crappy graph, I don't really think its meet your needs (Audio Studio, game)

So for you its might be interesting to replace it, but you may need to do the following to make the old gen Mac Pro more "usable".

-Add the Ram, I remember its only accepts DDR2 ram (I think, not really sure, I have never had one of that), but get at least 16 GB of this and will be allowed to use the same sound only DDR2, you need measure the cost dedicated to Rams

-Add the USB3.0 card. I didn't say more on this right? USB2 is somehow too crappy for now, if you need measure the cost of the USB3.0 card.

-Probably to replace the hard drive, its massively improve loading speed if you have a fusion drive or an SSD, its depends on your own needs, if you want to do, then you need measure the cost of training you want to buy.

-Replace the graphics card, its origin have something called AMD X 3100 or wat, really, remember its all just too old even glance at her age. and return at the time its totally new, it is not the series of cards that have the intention of game. According to the info you provided, you have need a map rendering and 3D design professional, but a card game, then you may need to replace it with more recently built AMD or Nvidia graphics card in game, try watching the series Geforce and Rasomething. and theres something that should be mentioned is the old Mac Pro motherboard, is somewhat different with PC on hardware support, so that the graphics card must take in charge the Mac EFI boot or something else. I do not see the HD7970 and the GTX7? 0 mac edition, which works perfectly after replacement, but also of boys randomly announcement that they got the PC normal edition of some cards and put it on the Mac Pro, its can't stand not EFI of Mac Pro type so that they can not see a shit only on the screen while the Startup logo should show, but once finished go , its works perfectly. That's what I've heard, I'm bloody tired and sleepy now (PLUS8 GMT) hope so I made an explanation clear outta giant paragraph. But anyway, because they have tested PC edition graphics card also works on Mac, theres a huge amount of graphics card, you can buy and before you buy, if your not sure if this does not work on Mac, just borrow one of it and test it just outside, or directly, so search for Mac guaranteed Mac-compatitable by manufacturing , you need measure the cost of this.

-Possibly a map HiFi sound taking in charge waves and digital output since your doing audio studio, the price increases a breakfast unique price you can buy a car outta that, then choose the one you want and measure the cost.

-the processor might be still allowed to use and the current level of normal performance, so you can just keep it, but if you want to update, of course, a position which cost.

-The time you go to research / purchase parts/physically change/test this baby. as goes XD.

That's essentially all you need to do if you decide to replace your MacBook Pro 13 "with the Mac Pro, the major concern is the cost of parts, other that neither that complex, just to the top, find open port, insertion/replacement material, FACT, USB3 card possible to require a driver, but all you have to do is click NEXT.

OK, good luck pal and if you blow up your House all by improving the Mac Pro, don't tell anyone I gave you these suggestions ok? XDXD
