If I update my windows xp edition family pack it remove programs or do some programs do not?

If I update my windows xp home edition pack will delete my programs or make some of them do not work or work properly.

It's a good idea to allow the updates of Windows run the calendar.  The security of your system will be improved and features as well.  You must be up to Service Pack 3 on XP and current updates. Use the Windows Update option in the Tools menu in Internet Explorer to get the latest version. On system properties, open the Automatic Updates tab and set the preferences to automatic.

Process and rational explanations can be obtained on a number of sites of tech as well as Microsoft.  Here are some links:

I hope this helps you.

  • Update for Windows Vista Edition family may 12 Premium taking hours to install

    Hello
I use Windows Vista Home Premium on a Sony VAIO VGN - SR 190.  When I went to shut down my computer today (13 May 2009), I clicked on the icon that said he was going to install updates and then turn off the computer.  I did this several times in the past without problem.  Now the computer screen showed 'Installing Update 1 of 5...' for the last 3 hours.  This set of updates does take really too long?  Is there's something screwed up with my computer and I turn it off manually, how that will affect the update?  Will my jet computer when I turn it back on?  Thanks for any help on this!
    -Steve M

    Hi Chris,

Thanks a lot for all of your helpful information.  I finally just manually turned off the computer, restarted, then clicked on the icon that says this install updates and then turn off the computer, and this time it worked fine.  It is not uncommon for my computer display the 'Shutting Down' and never stop (in this case), so it was probably the same is going on here except that Vista tried to install updates.  Thanks again for your help.

  • Clean install of Windows Vista Edition family

Due to a Virus, I had to perform a cold install of Windows Vista Edition family.  After completion and activation of the software, I received a message that my product is already in use.  It was a clean install on the same computer that has more than 3 years.

    Hello Steveowe,

It's normal. To activate it, you use telephone activation. It's free in most countries. See this link from my Web site: http://vistasupport.mvps.org/product_key_already_in_use.htm

  • Windows Vista not reponding: Windows Installer, Office 2007 (Outlook), add/remove programs, System Restore, etc...

    Gentleperson,

I am looking for a solution fix my PC, HP Pavilion Slimline. Windows install Office 2007 (Outlook), add/remove programs and the system restore will not work. The apparent problem is a file corrupted in the system, based on the forums of Windows and Office 2007 and published articles.

    I tried the following:

    • Retore system Mode safe mode and in Safe Mode network - without success
    • In Normal Mode Windows Vista will not respond to the system restore or the Add/Remove programs - without success
    • Chkdsk/r - unsuccessfully
    • sfc/scannow won't answer - no success
    • Msconfig.exe helped with a clean boot; However, this does not solve the problem...
    • Windows Installer is in auto status, but can not start; I have a 1053 error messsage... too slow

As it can be seen, there is a problem with my operating system. I have a recovery disk to format my PC in its original configuration. However, I have not saved my files that I won't lose to the formatting. Please advice.

    Thanks in advance,

    Lhorea

  • Updates for windows xp edition version 2002 available family or not?

My windows xp edition version 2002 family not updated? Microsoft site does not connect? In fact I bought an Acer laptop and with this windows recovery CD. Now, when he had some problems with windows, I used the same CD and recovered the windows, but when I connect to the internet and try to update windows, microsoft just Web site does not connect.

    I want to know:
If the Service Pack 1 system is updated or not?
    If the update, how?

You can use another computer if needed to download the latest service packs.  Usually, you just load the latest service pack, but in the case of XP, you must have at least service pack 1 installed before you can install Service Pack 3.  The following article gives links to where you can download all the service packs.  Download them on another computer if you don't connect with your computer and move / install them using a USB drive or burn them on a CD...

  • Need installation disk for Windows XP Edition family fo Compaq Presario S4020WM.

    Hello

I'm running a Compaq Presario S4020WM and have Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 3) installed.  I got this computer as a gift and it came with this operating system.  The operating system is not a genuine copy of windows (he says it's a version of test on my desktop wallpaper).  The sticker on the computer, says that he supplied with Windows XP Edition original family.  I would like to reinstall Windows XP Home Edition on the computer, but I don't have the installation disc.  I contacted the web site of the window and chat with technical support.  They asked me to contact the manufacturer of the computer for my specific product key installation disc.  My product key is [personal information deleted], my product number is DK214A and the S/N is[personal information deleted].  I know I am not pleased under warranty, but I would be eternally grateful if you could send me the Installation disk for Windows Home Edition for this particular product key.  Thank you.

Vidya has already pointed out, the HP recovery discs are available for purchase at the third-party provider ComputerSurgeons.com

There is a direct link to order No. 5069 - 5087 - Windows XP Home SP1 recovery (33NAHERED4) - Compaq discs model S4020WM on the ComputerSurgeons Web site.

  • How can I move a good copy of Windows XP Edition family of my G drive to a bad copy of Windows XP Pro onDrive C (startup disk) without destroying all the data and programs I have on these two discs?

I have a computer that I needed an extra hard drive with a lot more memory that I had on this subject.  I had Windows XP Home Edition on it and was very satisfied with the system.  I came back from the computer repair store and my old hard drive was drive G, with all the old data still on it and a (used) and more C drive was in the unit and it's now my boot drive and I not paid no attention to it, he soiled by Windows XP Professional with service pack two.  I really did not notice the difference and I started to put several other new programs that I need on this computer and I went to work.  After over a long period, I now had a notice that it wasn't a valid Windows product.  I wondered of course that with Microsoft, because I had all my documents, my records, (now lost) and the key that was on the side of my computer.

As I continued to find out what was going on, while doing a search for information on the drives, I found the original Windows program, I had, now my question is, how can I move on my C drive, while MY ORIGINAL Windows XP Home Edition causes my computer to start?  Most of the programs that I run is not compatible with Windows 7 or Vista even, and it cost me a fortune to buy all of these programs again.

    What can I do?

    Thank you!
