  My advice make a library of portable split is a general guide, but as such, it has all sorts of details that you may not need.

  I guess you have previously installed iTunes such as library files were in the usual place of C:\Users\ < user > \Music\iTunes but the media were on an external drive, for example in X:\ < Media folder >, and no longer have access to the old library, or are perhaps new to iTunes, then so be it you will need to start over again. Click on create and make a new library at the root of the external drive, i.e. as X:\iTunes , where X is the drive letter of the external drive. Once this operation is complete, use Windows Explorer to move the existing media folder within the X:\iTunes\iTunes Media, rename the folder that you moved as say other media to avoid any possible confusion in the future, select the menu with Ctrl + B bar and use file > add folder to library, to import the file to other media in the library. Will everything that iTunes adds to the library be shuffled around. All that remains in the other media will be happy that iTunes does not know what to do with such incompatible media or album art carried out by Windows Media Player. You can sift throigh this, take what you want and use replacements for all players what you keep.

  If, as you say, they are completely separate installations on separate hard disks, each with there own version of PS for example, there should be no way that they could interfere with each other! I assume you are using a form any of Boot Manager to load a specific version of Mac OS x?

  I did something similar at the start in a similar situation with client compatibility and not had a problem with either interfere with others!
