iMac black screen

I have an old iMac for 5 years with a black screen. I think the backlight has gone. I have replace a small Board which runs the backlight, but it didn't fix it. How can I replace the backlight system, and it's something I can do myself? I don't want to spend a lot of $$ on it as it os old, but certainly worth of rehabilitation of market.

Take it to an Apple authorized Service provider in your area and get a repair estimate. Then you can decide what you want to do with it.

I have a 2008 1224 Middle iMac after that turn on only started to halfway through apple logo then went to black screen and closed. I rebooted with the same results. I have Unplugged and brought it home to my office to solve problems. I followed the instructions to reset the pram and smc.  Then after trying to boot into safe mode, realized that the keyboard and mouse were not working. Tested on my home computer and they work fine.  Tried to use the Usb extension but this did not help.  I replaced the pram battery.  Check that all my internal connections to the graphics card, hard drive etc.  A friend told me that it was probably my video card.  I found a card video used for my iMac on eBay and replaced it after the step by step instructions on ifixit.  Still nothing?  I can hear the hard drive starts, the job of cd (unfortunately there is a cd in the drive I can't eject).  The fans are not running, and I don't know how to move forward.  I'm not a computer expert of course.  I put it on youtube and forums online for advice.  What should I do next.  I know that the evidence is enough answer take it to apple.  But I don't have a lot invested in this machine and I would try to keep my cost down trying to fix myself first if possible.  If anyone can help, I would be so appreciative that I really like my iMac.  And cannot afford to replace it now.

Have you thought to replace the computer. A 2008 isn't really a repair value, my suggestion is to get either a new or refurbished Apple model. A 2008 iMac is too old for Apple even work on that because obtaining parts is extremely difficult. You could take it for a FSAA to consider however I think that any money spent would be better spent on a newer computer.

Assuming that you have been saving the old computer with Time Machine you can migrate all your data to a new Mac very easily.

    Just to think.

  • iMac a1225 black screen of death

    Hi all

    I have an iMac 8.1

    Model a1225

Seems to crash randomly. I get a black screen but the backlight and the computer seems to stay on. It does it randomly. Seems to be more when the computer is first started upward. After it warms up, it seems to stay running. My first initial thought is that the video on the motherboard is bad. I was told that the computer is getting hit by a power surge. I ran a diagnosis with the diskette of starting provided with the system and all this happened. Here is the error report:

  • 10.11.6 - black screen with cursor in security update 2016-001

    Hello

After installing safety day 2016-001 10.11.6 and reset as part of the installation process, I get a white apple logo, the white line will blink twice and then I get a black screen with white cursor. The cursor moves with the mouse but nothing happens and I do not get the login screen. This happened on my MacBook Pro and my iMac (retina 5K, end of 2014) (2015).

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Best regards

    Tom

Same problem with iMac 5K, no problems with MacBook 2016 if. Very glitchy update indeed.

  • Apple TV Airplay Black Screen and minimum display options

I recently got an Apple TV (4) and when I activate Airplay, the HDTV shows just a black, when streaming to my iMac screen (end of 2013). The audio works well when the iMac iTunes app streaming, but not the screen. Airtime in my Apple menu options appear to be incomplete.

AirPlay however works PERFECT on a new Mac Mini. I can see all the options you would normally see in the Apple menu and display preferences. Wifi networks are all the same.

Once connected to the Mac Mini, I see it in the menu bar options

Once connected on the iMac, I see it in the menu bar options

Furthermore, I recently deleted, Duo & display menu of my iMac but also completely disabled the firewall. After you remove the app and all the library files (that I could find), I closed my iMac. From the start I have reset the PRAM, just in case.

Result... I do not have any option to extend my screen and all I get on my Apple TV4 is a black screen with text.

Which party 3rd software are know because of conflicts with AirPlay? This seems to be the only logical cause of the black screen. I had, Menu display, Air Parrot, Duet, on previous machines there for years and I can have hidden conflict with AirPlay on the current iMac, I use library files.

The problem has been resolved. I found the solution on another site. I copy here and share the link.

And the solution is in the comments. Parrot air extensions are the problem... I tried Air Parrot for like a day and then uninstalled, but I or clean my Mac missed parts.

    RS http://9to5mac.com/2014/02/28/OS-x-...tensions-to-External-Monitors-for-some-use.

    Here is the fix:

    1. open a Terminal in Applications/Utilities.

    2. run these commands respectively:

    sudo rm - rf /System/Library/Extensions/APExtFramebuffer.kext

    sudo rm - rf /System/Library/Extensions/AirParrotDriver.kext

    sudo rm - rf /Library/Extensions/APExtFramebuffer.kext

    sudo rm - rf /Library/Extensions/AirParrotDriver.kext

This allows to uninstall the kernel extensions associated with AirParrot. Other solutions on the web are displayed are missing extensions in/Library/Extensions.

    3. Enter your administrative password when you are prompted.

    4 restart your computer.

  • Installation of RAM-> black screen

I bought iMac 5K, end of 2015 and has decided to increase the RAM by myself.

    I chose this model: HyperX Impact SODIMM - 16 GB Kit * (2x8GB) - DDR3L 1866 MHz CL11 SODIMM part number: HX318LS11IBK2/16.

The problem is that when I install the RAM and put it on the iMac just goes to black screen. I hear the fan rotation, but no other noise whatsoever. Nothing. I tried adding to the old RAM, replace etc. I can turn on the iMac with the original 8 GB of RAM installed.

Anyone know what could be the problem? Is this a faulty hardware?

I would stick with the purchase of your memory of one of these sellers: OWC, DataMemor Crucial. Each has methods to determine the correct memory for your computer. Memory HyperX is not really intended to be used in Macs. One of the three providers can provide you with the right product.

  • Only get a black screen on startup of Windows

    I have the most recent 5K 27 "iMac with a Radeon R9 M380.

I want to install Windows 10 with an ISO and the process seemed all fine, even managed to get to the point connect you with my Microsoft account.

But then after that I got a black screen.  Off and then restarted back in the Windows partition.  I get the small circle of loading Windows but then after that another black screen.

I was wondering anyone knows it?

You can start Windows safe mode? You have probably installed a wrong driver GPU.

  • Black screen startup repair, Windows 7 cursor

After installation of about 25 updated today, my Windows 7 Ultimate Boot Camp partition on my 9.1 iMac no longer boot Windows. I think there could be a problem due to a video card driver updated, although I have no way of knowing if a driver has been updated.

I use the Startup Repair tool, but I have a black screen with no cursor. I got the text screen to enter the startup as well as the Windows logo for a short period after this repair. When I put my ear close to the computer, I could hear the disk being accessible so I guess the Startup Repair did something, but now when I listen to it I can hear the fans. I started about 90 minutes ago the Startup Repair.

My question is how can I find out when the Startup Repair tool is completed? Will it automatically reboot the machine, or wait for the user to input after it ended? Use mouse input any required or can I do blindly using the keyboard?

Also, is it possible I could get Windows starts in Mode safe? This way I could isolate any problem with the video card drivers. There is no option to start in Safe Mode, when I turned on the machine. Note that because I use a Mac, I don't have the BIOS screens, I UEFI which, on Mac, gives only a choice of which partition to boot from.

I need is no longer an answer for this.

    Here's what I did:

I turned off the computer using the switch after 2.5 hours of startup repair and checking that I could not even hear the disk being accessed... Windows would not start again. I started in El Capitan (Mac OS X) and installed the rEFInd Boot Manager. I rebooted the machine, intending to try to fix it from a floppy disk, bootable USB Win 7 Ultimate, but selected by mistake partition Boot Camp and Windows started normally.

The only thing I can think of that changed is that I installed rEFInd, but I don't know why, it would make a difference.

    Hello!

While I was watching a movie from Itunes on my iphone and took a screenshot. As I looked in my album, I ended up getting a black screen. There is a desire for this?

  • iPhone 7 more stuck on black screen with the spinning wheel

How can I fix it? I tried to reset, go into DFU mode, recover from iTunes. Nothing works. I can't use iTunes because he wants me to grant access from my iPhone is not responding. DFU mode doesn't work, the screen does not any combination of seconds I hold down the buttons to. This has happened more than an hour. Should I just wait for the battery to die? Please note that I do not live in the United States or the U.K. or anywhere with an Apple Store, I can take it to.

    Thank you

Hello! I think that I may have a solution to our problem of the black screen with the circle of rotation.

I came across this post today because my iPhone all nine 7 (which I've upgraded to the latest ios) also got stuck on a black screen with the circle of rotation. I tried to update some of my apps, when suddenly the screen froze. I clicked once on the home button and the screen become black with the subsequent appearance of the circle of rotation.

I have tried everything - simultaneously press the home button and power (does not work). connected to itunes to do a restore (it won't let me not because my "find my iPhone" was turned on - but I could not turn off because my phone was insensitive).

In any case, a very useful Mr. Damon (Senior Advisor to Apple) helped me via chat to solve the problem.

    Here's what I did:

    1. make sure that your iPhone is disconnected from the socket or the computer.

    2. hold the POWER button and the VOLUME DOWN button at the same TIME. If it works, the screen should turn off almost immediately.

    3. connect your iPhone to the computer. (when I have connected to the computer, my iPhone automatically on and was ready to be reused).

The steps below are for those whose iPhones did not turn with the above steps. The following steps are designed to allow you to disable remote your 'find my iPhone', so you can do a manual restore from iTunes.

    4. go to www.icloud.com.

    5. click on Find iPhone

    6. given that the phone is turned off already, he won't be able to find it. On the top bar, click DEVICES.

    7. click on your iPhone.

    8. click on "delete account".

    9. go into your itunes and do a restore.

I did have to do steps 4 to 9 more, because as I said, my iPhone automatically activated after step 3.

This really worked for me. I hope this works for everyone else too! Have a great day!

  • Mac mini black screen after upgrading to sierra

    Hello!

My probleme:Mac Mini end 2014 black screen to start immediately after the upgrade of Sierra.

    Thanks for your help.

Is there anything on the black screen (boot) at all ever?

  • iOS 10 wheel black screen

Been using iOS 10.0.1 for about a week on an iPhone 6 and it is buggy. The questions below are only occurred since the upgrade to iOS 10. Please fix in the next version or offer a solution.

1 random black screen with the spinning wheel. The upgrade went very well, so not this black screen. But at least every day my phone stopped responding and displays a black screen with the spinning wheel. After 5 to 10 seconds, I invited me to enter my password as if the phone has rebooted. I'm not the only person knows - and even managed to capture the image below.

2 - I activated the option 'open finger rest' in respect of the accessibility of the home screen, but this does not always work. Once again, about once a day, to rest my finger to open the results in me being invited to press the home button to unlock. Whenever this happened I checked and confirmed that 'rest finger to open' has been enabled.

    Thank you

I have the same problem.  3 co-workers have the same problem.  I opened a discussion with the Apple support, however, they said it was just my phone and that I should backup my phone and do a factory restore.  This is pretty extreme, especially considering that 100% of my immediate peers with iPhone devices 6 face the same frustration.

  • MacBook (2010) starts with black screen with flashing Apple logo

I recently got ahold of a Macbook Pro 2010 running very slow so I did a reinstall of the operating system (which was a living nightmare, Macintosh is not as easy to manage as it was at the time of PowerPC) once I got to the top and running, I decided to upgrade to the latest version of El Capitan (an update (not an upgrade I already had a version out there) once I rebooted and let the computer do its thing he began to start up normally, but after finishing the progress bar, he went to a black screen (with the screen still on) that flashed the boot from time to time Apple logo. I forced shut down the computer and start in safe mode with success (that's how I'm typing this post now).

    Thanks in advance.

When you reinstalled, did you remove any third-party system before reinstalling.

A Mac that runs in Mode without failure, but are generally not normally indicates some incompatible system changes.
