iMac continue to seek wifi addresses

iMac late 2012 O SX 10.11.2.

My iMac doesn't stop looking / searching for wifi addresses, please see photo:

Once, once the search - although I'm connected to the same wifi address.

Thank you.

Why do you want that he keep looking? You are connected to a wireless network.

  • iMac ceases to recognize WiFi networks at random

In recent weeks, our iMAC ceased to recognize WiFi networks at random.  We will use Safari or Chrome and suddenly the taskbar will specify "resolving host" and internet connection will be lost.  Within 2-3 minutes, all the WiFi networks that were previously seen in Network preferences will disappear.  If restart us the iMAC, the WiFi network will work very well for 15-30 minutes, then it will be happening everywhere.  It is frustrating to have to restart the Mac frequently! What is also very ironic, is that when WiFi networks disappear for the iMac, our iPhones (2), the iPad and laptops (Dell and HP) always recognize wifi networks. Spoke to the Apple support and made us go to El Capitan, instead to call again, I thought that I would try this community.

Here is our contact information for operating system and the actions we have taken so far.  Would be grateful to anyone who helps solve this problem.

    Operational details:

    • El Capitan - OS10.11.5
    • iMac (27-inch, mid 2010)
    • 3.2 GHz Intel Core i3
    • Processor: 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
    • 807 GB 1 TB storage is free
    • 2 WiFi networks available through DirectTV / AT & T 2.4 G with 5.0 G available
    • I don't have an Ethernet cable plug near this iMac

When he saw this problem, I tried the following solution:

    • Reboot, obviously works but annoying and not a systemic solution
    • Network preferences > > turn off WiFi and then turn it back on
    • Create the new location and reconnect to WiFi networks
    • Previously on Yosemite and recently upgraded to El Capitan, did not work
    • Remove the preferences.plist, the network.identification.plist, the message files - draw .plist hoping to empty cache network
    • DHCP has changed IP manual and additional figures added to the final figure of IP address on the IP address of my iPhone
    • Changed automatic DNS server to direct DNS server from Google
    • Renewed DHCP lease

No chance until then wouldn't like anyone's support there!

    Thank you

  • My iMac continues to plant

    History:

    1. My iMac 27' was overwhelming at all times. Do not reboot, I have to unplug the computer 15 sec to turn it back on. Started about three months ago.
    2. Called the Apple service, re-installed El Capitan. Re-installed my apps: notability, Google Reader, the drop-down list.
    3. My computer crashed again.
    4. I took it to an Apple store, they checked the material: no damage. They have reinstalled Sierra. Worked fine in the store.
    5. I reinstalled my applications at home, office, notability, Dropbox, Google Drive.
    6. Crushed again.
    7. I've searched this forum. I was asked to perform "EtreCheck", I enclose you a new report here. I've been told clear Dropbox, Google drive and notability. Yes, I did.
    8. Today, I opened 'Photos' and my computer crashed again. I have more 15 000 photos in the cloud.

I came to believe that there is a problem with any application connected to iCloud.

I am a heavy user of "notoriety". (for the school). I can use very well in my iPad, but it would be nice if I could use it in my computer too.

    Help, please

  • For iMac and Macbook air wifi Extender

I have a desktop computer of iMac 21.5 2010 that has a wifi router internal so that I can connect to my ISP of my 2011 Macbook Air 11 '' in the bathroom, just downstairs, and another room in almost 20 m further down. However, I fear that my connection on my Macbook Air speed decreases considerable distance increases my iMac. Actually in my studio which is attached to the back of my garage and about 30 m from the iMac I don't get any wifi signal at all. I wonder what the best solution is to increase the strength of the wifi in the House and outdoors workshop.

My iMac is connected to an ipstar modem that receives my broadband connection to a satellite dish on my garage wall. Connection wireless or ADSL broadband is not available in our location away from the New Zealand.

I'd appreciate any help that anyone can give me.

    See you soon

    Roger

The concern is with the latter: access to the iMac through the modem connection.

I'm running a 3rd generation Apple TV. I have problems streaming, Netflix directly on the ATV, or HBO using Airplay on an iPad. It always freezes 10 s, for example. 07:10, 10:20, 15:50 etc-guess that's due to the Apple TV buffering every 10 seconds.

The solution is to ask the Apple TV to forget WiFi network and reconnect. My WiFi router is an Airport Extreme three months old, located within two meters of the Apple TV.

The same thing happened in my old apartment, using another WiFi router. Happens every 20-30 minutes, which is quite annoying when you watch a movie, or just at the point where I look at series.

I tried to restore through iTunes, I tried different channels (using WiFi analyzers the current configuration of the chain should be less busy channels), I checked the updates etc, but nothing helped.

The Apple TV is about 6 months, and it is not covered by the recall of 3rd generation as soon as 2013.

No clue what I should check? Wiring is not an option. It is so impure.

    Troels

Using the DNS of your ISP? If this isn't the case, you experience name resolution issues. Could you try to use the default DNS and see if it helps?

  • iMac continues to be frozen as claimed by other users

I saw that many users have the same problem with my friends, the computer crashes randomly and the only thing that works is the arrow on the pointer on the screen, but I'm not able to do nothing to restart the system. In the past, it was a victim, for a few weeks, that often, at least two or three times a day.

Here is the report of being in the hope that someone could help... In the meantime, I'll remove the adware found and to check some files. I delete some startup items that seem to be obsolete for this OS.

    Maridef,

Your report indicates some adware is installed, run the report EtreCheck again and click where it says to remove the adware.

Then, my guess is you can have moved away from using a PC at one time and brought over some habits of PC. I noticed that you have installed com.trendmicro.DrCleaner, it is unnecessary and potentially harmful for OS X. OS X is not no matter what antivirus cleaning, or third-party utilities to good work. If left alone and updated OS X is extremely secure and will work well for years.

Finally, I noticed that you have installed a WD software you no doubt to some WD JEP. It is not only pointless too, it tends to cause problems. So uninstall that too.

  • HP Office Jet Pro 8620: IMAC loses the connection to the printer

Computer do not print and seems to lose the connection to the printer. I deleted all printers and made a new connection to the printer. Printer address 192.168.0.14.  IMAC later loses the connection to the printer again. I look at address on printer and now is 192.168.0.15. Its done this several times. So why the printer continue to change its address? Is it possible to put it permanently?

Think I fixed it now. Problem was that I also had to set the Configuration of DNS address. Of course although computer knew the address of the printer, he could not find the server (i.e. the router) don't understand everything, but seems to work now.

Went to the printer the webserver integrated with my Web browser. On the network, wireless 802.11, IPv4 configuration tab, I already had the manual IP, the subnet mask and the default gateway. I need to go to the next Section under the DNS Configuration, select "Manual DNS Server", then fill in the news for "Manual preferred DNS server".

AllOf the above address were extracted from the information sheet, you can print directly from the front panel of the printer. My son who is more Apple savy than I am, said that he did not understand why I had to put an IP address manual for printer even when that she would have remained the same.  I don't either, but just know whenever IMAC my wife lost the connection to the printer IP address had changed.  My router is built with the Modem cable provided by the company. It is perhaps part of the problem.

So no, it seems to be fixed number. So if you set a manual IP address, make sure that you also specify a "preferred DNS server"

    Thanks for your help

  • Tine Capsule loses the connection to iMac on El Capitan

So I thought to myself - allows to change Windows XP for IMac OS - X and I liked the theory behind Time Capsule.  So in Dec 15 bought the new iMac with El-Capitan installed - very nice - steep to overcome - but very nice learning curve.  In January 2016, I bought the capsule and time the iMac continues to lose track of it and the backup fails.

I read a lot of posts on this problem with earlier versions of Mac OS x, but none with El Capitan.  I tried many suggestions.  I'm willing to stick to this, but concluded that Apple have big network problems - is there any known firm resolution that I missed

If I unplug power of TC and plug it again TC restarts and fix the link and he stays for a while, but when the iMac system sleeps it seems to lose track of the TC.  The TC continues to work as a hub WiFi in bridge in the whole mode, although the link of TC - Mac itself is ethernet.

I have the network as [router ISP-> switch-> TC-> IMac].  I have a PC, NAS, hooked to the switch and the printer off the TC - all (other than the iMac/TC) connections continue to work all the time (even the printer connected through the CT.

Suggestions for things to try would be useful, but nobody knows if Apple are working on it?

is there a known strong resolution that I missed

No, it's still coming every day in the posts here.

Apple tries to do new things via DNS and she has so far trained more than problems solved... It has to do with the hand and swapping the standard network structure and network on equal terms with the iphone or ipad. At least as far as I know. Don't hold me to him as we all users here... and some of the information Apple provide are extremely sketchy.

    I tried many suggestions.

It is difficult to make suggestions that we really have no idea what you tried... I'll post a link to my standard list below...

BUT el capo has introduced different bugs... and I find it hard to reproduce... Note that I have not really had most of the questions are people here. I do not use the TC in bridge... but actually force it to take in charge the functions of dhcp for these devices that connect directly to it... and you have TO connect the Mac directly to the CT... He got buried... I'm usually carefully noted the location... but Apple said you need on the computer directly connected to the TC... If it is ethernet or wireless is not a problem... but if you are trying to connect to the switch or the main router, it is not a good idea.

So, I would recommend that you try this method.

Re: time capsule Airport Guard disconnection

There are screenshots of it... and if all that is hard to follow if you please tell me where you are stuck.

I found I can now exchange the main router with a degree of immunity, as I reconfigure the DHCP and IP LAN on it to match my setup of origin... it's not hard... but it may take some time to wrap your mind around it.

In fact right now I use a secondary antibody Airport extreme as a WAP browser on the primary... again to help people having to abandon the questions... and I have so far after that many days are perfectly stable.

If you can do it... change the domain in the main router at the local level

Maybe it's nothing or it could be something else, such as lan. So in fact, all your names are the. But if the main router uses a field other than mess a few things... Apple seems also is recommended to use the TC as the main router as preferable to the bridge... They recommend same NAT double bridge... IMHO, my static IP method solves the problem, where you can not replace the main router, and the TC regularly loses on the network...

  • New iMac with El Capitan gel

I bought a new iMac 21.5 3 months ago, with an upgrade to 16 GB of RAM.  Within the first week, he started to run slowly and kept freezing.  It got worse as the weeks went by.  I got to my local Apple store where a diagnostic equipment is made, no defect found.  The Genius Bar offers a complete re-installation of software, which has been done.  The iMac continues occasionally to run slowly when on the Internet with Safari (it is better to use Firefox) and freeze until almost every day, the only way to make it work again is to turn it off and on again, by using the power button.  For the record - I have not downloaded any software Mac cleaning or similar, or any other software/applications that have been suggested elsewhere that can cause this problem.

Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?  After 20 years of using Mac, I'm about to take this iMac back for a full refund, after losing confidence in this particular product.  I have to say that all my previous iMac has worked flawlessly.

I am convinced that el Capitan is the problem.

    1. Disable Extensions and test them.

    Safari > Preferences > Extensions

Uncheck 'Enable the Extension' and test.

Enable the Extensions one by one and test.

To uninstall any extension, select it and click the "Uninstall" button

2 remove the test and com.apple.Safari.plist file.

    Empty the trash.

    Quit all applications.

Hold down the option key and click on the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.

Select 'Library' in the menu dropdown.

    Library > Preferences > com.apple.Safari.plist

Right-click on it and select "place it in the trash.

    Close the Finder window.

Turn it back on.    Restart Safari.

If this does not help, "put back" the com.apple.Safari.plist

Right click on the trash icon in the Dock, then select 'open '.

Right-click on the com.apple.Safari.plist and select 'Put Back'.

  • WiFi works but Ethernet does not work

I just changed the ISP. I use the modem cable of the MRC, which is the same as one that uses Xfinity. I'm also using a Linkysys EA4500 router. I have not had any problems with setting up yesterday before they changed over this morning.

I have two iMacs (my wife and I). If the modem cable is directly connect to one of the two iMacs, the internet works fine. However, when the Linksys router is part of the configuration, the iMac to my wife can connect via the Ethernet port but my iMac won't. My iMac can connect via WiFi. However, he won't be able to connect if I use an Ethernet cable.

I have already reset the router to factory setting and restart the iMac and clear the PRAM, switched Ethernet cables. What happens here?

The problem you describe will occur when changing the device connected to a modem cable without having to reboot the cable modem. Cable modems that are not as routers will communicate with a single device and refuse to connect to what anyone else, until you cycle power.

Turn off your modem cable NCR and leave that it turned off. For reasons I don't understand (and will may not be not necessary), some cable ISPS also recommends disconnect physically their coaxial cable modem to perform a reset "full." During this time you can turn off the Linksys router also. Connect the iMacs to the router, either its LAN ports, via an Ethernet switch directly. It is not necessary to turn off Macs.

Wait a few seconds, then reconnect the cable to the modem if you disconnected and turn on both the modem and the router. It should work.

The wifi on imac app shows only the creat or join and it wont let me create with the same SSID.

I want to thank because Airplay maintains stall; so I want as strong a signal as possible.

    Thank you

I don't know what kind of a range extender you need or really ask the subject. https://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_repeater

If you really mean range extender there are several on the market https://www.google.com/search?q=wifi+range+extender & ie = utf-8 & oe = utf-8

Please describe in more detail what you are trying to accomplish where I don't understand your question.
