HP Office Jet Pro 8620: IMAC loses the connection to the printer

Computer do not print and seems to lose the connection to the printer. I deleted all printers and made a new connection to the printer. Printer address 192.168.0.14.  IMAC later loses the connection to the printer again. I look at address on printer and now is 192.168.0.15. Its done this several times. So why the printer continue to change its address? Is it possible to put it permanently?

Think I fixed it now. Problem was that I also had to set the Configuration of DNS address. Of course although computer knew the address of the printer, he could not find the server (i.e. the router) don't understand everything, but seems to work now.

Went to the printer the webserver integrated with my Web browser. On the network, wireless 802.11, IPv4 configuration tab, I already had the manual IP, the subnet mask and the default gateway. I need to go to the next Section under the DNS Configuration, select "Manual DNS Server", then fill in the news for "Manual preferred DNS server".

AllOf the above address were extracted from the information sheet, you can print directly from the front panel of the printer. My son who is more Apple savy than I am, said that he did not understand why I had to put an IP address manual for printer even when that she would have remained the same.  I don't either, but just know whenever IMAC my wife lost the connection to the printer IP address had changed.  My router is built with the Modem cable provided by the company. It is perhaps part of the problem.

So no, it seems to be fixed number. So if you set a manual IP address, make sure that you also specify a "preferred DNS server"

Thanks for your help

Follow-up set upward on my mac pro computer laptop and everything of fine. It communicates as expected. I follow the same established procedure on my iMac, but it cannot connect.  The iMac is on the network, connects to another good printer, but not HP.  I rebooted the printer and iMac, but still no connection.  What should I do?

    Hello @PLC4265,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you are able to print one of your Mac to your HP Officejet Pro 8620 systems wireless e-all-in-one printer. However, your other iMac running Mac OS X 10.10 is not able to connect to your HP Officejet wireless. I would like to help you today with this problem of connectivity.

Because we know that one of your systems works very well, I don't think that this problem is caused by a conflict of networking with the printer. On the contrary, it may a driver, security or networking with the iMac conflict. To isolate this problem and fix it, I'll make you check to see if your iMac and HP Officejet currently communicating on the network. Please follow the steps below.

    1. On the front panel of your Officejet tap installation (key)
    2. Select Network Configuration
    3. Select the wireless settings
    4. Select view wireless details
    5. Please take note of the SSID network name and IP address
    6. On your iMac, please check that your iMac is connected to the exact same name as your printer network SSID. Do not connect to networks of comments . Also avoid connecting them to 5 GHz connections. If you have a double router band it can broadcast the 5 GHz and 2 GHz. Printers are supported only through connections of 2 ghz . If you don't know how to check this, you may need to speak with your router manufacturer.
    7. Once you determine the SSID of your network is perfect, please open the internet browser on your iMac
    8. In the address bar of you please enter the IP address that brought you to the printer. Do not include the www.
    9. Search this site.
    10. A Web site for your printer should now open.
    • If a Web site for your printer does not open: This indicates that your printer and your computer do not communicate on the network.
    • If a Web site for your printer opens correctly: This indicates that your printer and your computer communicate on the network successfully. Don't you just iMac "sees" your printer when you run the installation program?

Please reply to this message with the result of the opening of the site (browser EWS) printers using the printers IP address. I look forward to hear from you!

    Hey there,

One thing before you start, this solution won't work for (its of course HP) inkjet printers
Try the next step, I believe that this will help you overcome the problem.
    1. start by dissconnecting the USB cable. (If its connecetd wireleslly, go to the next step)
2 remove the printer driver of "devices and printer" which is located in Control Panel.
    3. download the complete solution for your printer.
    4. extract the contents of the file. (Using winrar or any other method, you know)
5 open the "Utils" folder and choose in the "x 64"(ou le «x32"encas vous utilisez ce type de système) subfolder, you should be able to locate a file called 'RemovePreInstalledDrivers' > once you open this file black screen opens, wait for it to close, then move to the next step.". "
    6. go to the main folder where you have already extracted the software and right click on the file x 64.msi (name is most likely your printer model), then choose the Option "repair". > Subsequently, you will be asked of preformed a reboot. (Incase you will get a Messege saying "this action is only valid for products that are currently installed" simply double-click the file instead)
    7. after rebooting, the head in the drive Local C/ProgramFiles/HP/PrinterModelFolder/bin/USBSetupL uncher (or DeviceSetupLuncher if his wirellesly connected) and double click it.
8 follow the steps for you and connect the USB cable when you are invited to (if the wireless sound just choose the wireless option)

Who should add the scanner to your imaging devices.
    Best Of luck ~

    Hey @Pm2r,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you are experiencing some problems with printer e-all-in-one Officejet 8620 communicates is not with your PC. I can help you with that.

To start, make sure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector. Once done:

    1. Turn the printer off.
    2. While the printer is turned off, disconnect the power cable from the back of the router for a minute.
    3. When the lights come back on the router, turn on the printer.

Now, on the printer, click on the wireless icon that looks like a radio tower.

    • If you see a line indicating the status: not connected, the printer is not connected to your wireless network. Click speed, wireless and Wireless Setup Wizard to connect the printer to your network.
    • If the IP address starts with 169, the printer is not getting a valid IP address of the router. Contact which provided you your router to determine why the router is not getting an IP address valid.
    • If the IP address of the printer starts with 172, the printer is connected to a network of comments. Contact those that you provided with the router for assistance with deactivation of the feedback network.
    • If the IP address of the printer starts with 192.168 or 10, the printer is properly connected to a network. Please see below.
    • If the IP address of the printer begins with any other number, the network is maintained. Contact one that keeps your support network.

At this point, you should be able to print wireless. If you still can not, on any device that prints the PC enter the IP address of the printer in an address bar. If you are able to access embedded web page the printer, please let me know.

  • HP office jet pro 8600: part of the sticky label stuck in the printer. Paper jams.

I ran a sheet of labels into the printer, part of the top of the sheet of labels is stuck inside the printer.  I ca not see the piece to remove it. I cleaned the rollers and it still jams.  How can I remove the piece of stickypaper? Or what I need to take the printer to get it fixed?

I had a similar problem when someone brought me a printer with a label stuck on the inside.  I was able to get out the remains with the tweezers, a flashlight and a lot of patience...  With the Officejet 8600, I suggest to unplug the printer, removing the duplexer back and open the cartridge access door.  Do not tip the printer, if you did a lot of printing, there may be excess ink in the service area.

The document here can help find areas to search for the remains of the label.

  • HP Office jet Pro 8600: 8600 all-in-one does not print

First of all, I'm very technically challenged...

My printer is connected by radio to two computers. The two are not able to print anything. They have all two printed up to that we have a new computer in and then we worked for a little while and the other older. Currently, no work.

Light on the port in the back where the ethernet cable is connected is in the lower part of the port and flashes intermittintly on top. The connection does not snap-in.

It's probably a harware problem? Is there something I can do a simple test? Replace the port which can be done at Best Buy or other? The printer has 2-3 years and we loved so far... Thank you

    HI @Rosetree,

I noticed that you are having problems printing to your printer HP Officejet Pro 8600. I understand that the problem started when you got a new computer. I would like to look into this for you today.

We are considering the possibility that the new computer interferes with the IP address of the printer on the network. Let's see if we can identify the cause.

I see that you mentioned in your message, wireless and wired. How is the printer connected? (Ethernet/WiFi)

Here is a document that I recommend that you try, a view of the error "Unable to Find printer" for the HP Officejet Pro 251dw, 276dw and 8600 Printer seriess. "

Try the HP print and Scan Doctor to identify and solve common problems when installing or using s HP on your home network. What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (she print or scan, error messages).

Note: You may need to follow this guide for both computers. I recommend following it all the way and then try to print from both machines.

Please reply to this message with the result of your troubleshooting. I can't wait to hear strings attached good luck!
