impact on vCops performance

Hi all

Everyone knew the "performance impact' operation manager collects data from the virtual infrastructure?

The collection runs only against vCenter and its PB or also against the hosts?

Is vCops a potential performance problem?

Thank you very much

Eric

Eric-

Agreed. We connect to 6 Server vCenter (related modes) in the world of our vCops US VAPP with no noticeable performance hit to the environment. As Chris pointed out analytics VM takes a big CPU reaches around 01:00 every day that she crunches numbers but to be provided.

  • impact on the performance of the vmware tools

We had discussions about the performance impact of the installation on a virtual machine vmware tools.

Are their any comparison between a system running vanilla versus a running vmware tools installed?

Obviously, I think that the system will go faster with vmware drivers installed.

Tools will only help IO performance (not counting usually do things like graphics and synchronization times work better).  If your virtual machine has no important networking or storage needs, then you probably don't need the tools.  I'm usually not worth.

If you want very good performance network without tools, make sure you use a device virtual e1000.  You can define ethernet0.virtualDev = "e1000".  This is not quite as good as real vmxnet (or new vmxnet3) but is much better than the default vlance. If you regularly push 1Gbit or more real traffic to your virtual machines, I would consider it.

Paravirtualized SCSI is fairly new, but since I have seen that there is a performance gain enough points of reference.  But even once, most likely you need not, unless you use a disc very heavy VM I/O, such as an Oracle database server.

If you consolidate underutilized physical machines who never use 100% CPU/network/disk, then Tools are probably a waste of time.  But if you want as close as possible to performance native and CPU utilization during intensive i/o, then Tools are worth.

As for Redhat don't support our drivers for VMware tools, I don't see why this would practically be a problem-if you have any question/crash that you think may be related to our tools, you can always uninstall and go back to where you were before.  If you have an unrelated question, and you are worried Redhat refused to help with tools, you can do the same thing.  So what's the harm in trying them?

  • Impacts on the performance of the attributes from the features of data model design

I'm trying to understand the implications of the performance of two possible data model design.

Here is my structure of the entity:

    Global > person > account > option

Generally, when running, I instantiated a person, a single accountand five option's .

There are various amounts determined according to the age of the person who should be assigned to the correct option.

    Here are my two designs:

    Design a

attributes on the entity of the person :
    age of the person
    its option 1 amount
    its option 2 amount
    its option 3 amount
    its option quantity 4
    its option 5 amount

    attributes on the option endity:
    amount of the option

    support table rules:
    option = amount
its option 1 amount if the option is number 1
its option 2 amount if the option number 2
its option 3 amount if the option number 3
its 4 option amount if the option is number 4
its option 5 amount if the option is number 5

    Two design

attributes on the entity of the person :
    age of the person

attributes on the entity of the option :
    amount of the option
of the option option 1 amount
of the option option 2 amount
of the option option 3 amount
    of the option quantity 4
of the option option 5 amount

    support table rules:
    option = amount
of the option option 1 amount if the option is number 1
option 2 amount option if the option number 2
of the option option 3 amount if the option number 3
the option amount 4 If the option is number 4
option 5 option amount if the option is number 5

Given two models, I can see what looks like an advantage for a design that, when running, you have less attributes (6 on retirement member + 1 on each of the 5 options = 11) as two Design (1 on retirement members + 6 on each of the 5 options = 31), but I'm not sure. An advantage to design two might be that the algorithm must do less through the structure of the entity: the table of rules support everything for the amount of the option option.

Anyway there is a table of rules to determine the amounts:

    Design a
    its option 1 amount =
    2 if age = 10
    5 if age = 11
    7 if age = 12, etc..

    Design two
of the option option 1 amount =
    2 if age = 10
    5 if age = 11
    7 if age = 12, etc..

Here, it seems that the one would have to cross over the structure of the entity for the design of two.

The design will have a better performance with a large amount of rules, or it would make a difference at all?

    Hello!

In our experience, just think about this kind of stuff if you were dealing with 100's or 1000 instances (usually through ODS). You have a very low number, the differences will be negligible, as you should (in general) go with the solution that is most similar to the material of origin or the understanding of the business user. Also, I guess that's an OWD project? Which may be even better, the inference is performed gradually when new data are added to the modules, rather than in a 'big bang' as ODS.

It seems that the model 1 is the easiest to understand and explain. I wonder why you have the option at all entity, because it seems to be a relationship to one? If the person cannot have only a single amount of option 1, option 2 amount etc, and there's only ever going to be (up to) 5 options... is this assumption correct? If so, you can keep just like the attributes at the level of the person without the need for bodies. If there are other requirements of an instance of the option then, of course, use them, but given the information here, the option feature doesn't seem to be necessary. It would be the fastest of all :-)

Whatever it is, that the number of instances is so low, you should have nothing to fear in terms of performance.

I hope this helps! Write back if you have more info / questions.
    See you soon,.

  • Problem with an "unknown device" having an impact on the performance of the pc

Hello world! My name is Lorenzo, and I am currently having problems with my laptop, a HP Pavilion dv6, 64-bit laptop running Windows 7 that runs more slowly.
At first, I thought that the problem was a malware, so I decided to follow this procedure: http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/how-know-if-your-computer-infected.htm.
I tried TDSSKiller, Comodo cleaning Essentials, Killswitch, Malwarebytes, Hitman, Combofix then I installed Driver easy to update the drivers but it doesn't change anything.
Even repairs Windows or Windows Fix it does not solve the problem.
This is the message I get from Tune Up Utilities: Windows reports the "A2 Direct Access Driver Support disk" device does not work correctly.
When I open the Device Manager and try to manually update the device it doesn't seem to work; the same thing happens if I disable it or uninstall it and restart.

Well first, uninstall the update of the pilot program, using such will only cause problems. Drivers for your laptop are available free of charge at HP, nore if you use windows update for drivers.

And then uninstall Tune UP utilities because it is only likely to cause other problems. Win7 contains all of the built-in tools in order to maintain the system.

The "A2 Direct Access Support disk driver" part of Emisoft Anti-malware, you have this program installed?

And in the future do not try to update something on that you don't know anything

Attachments are stored in the table FND_LOBS - attachments are not compressed. There should be no performance issues don't related - extra storage will be necessary depending on how many and how big are the attachments. Store attachments on the file (instead of the database) system is also an option.

  • East-audio/video or advertising photos in the tab 'not open' affect the performance of Firefox?

From what I understand the audio Forum leaking by a tab can be cut. This means that the most important activity such as periodic updates on a page to download advertisements could also affect Firefox performance even if the tab has not been clicked. Is this true?

Once the tab has been loaded, any video or audio active in this tab will have a negative impact on the performance of Firefox.

In the options, you can tell Firefox to not load the tab until it is selected, but once you select the tab for the first time, the site will remain responsible.

    Mr President.

I was forced to use the power button to turn off my laptop HP 2231tx G6 in certain circumstances. I would like to know if this will affect all my gear system & impact on its performance. Because mine is only a new system.

Using the power button to turn off the computer will not affect the system hardware or your computer's performance. It can, however, lead to the system indicates that it "didn't stop in properly" and may require the system to the performance of a hard disk check before starting entirely. In addition, you can lose data by turning off the computer by this means.

  • Impact on the Thread.sleep processor

    Hi all

    Thank you

    UDI

Thread.Sleep simply takes the current thread on the Scheduler to send for a certain period of time.

I guess my best answer is that there no direct impact on the performance CPU - CPU runs all the time, at the same speed than it was before.

  • Performance - GRE over IPSec or without free WILL

Looking at the configuration of a VPN L2L tunnel between two sites for voice only traffic.  Ask yourself if the configuration of GRE to the IPSec VPN tunnel would add a charge to the performace of the vs configuration voice traffic just an IPSec VPN tunnel?

You wanted to set up a WILL for future where we might want to add several tunnels and enable EIGRP routing.

    Please any advice would help.

    Karim,

First GRE (oIPsec) is not the only option. You also VTI, which does not add the GRE overhead and can run on top routing protocols.

In terms of raw processing, yes GRE encapsulation is indeed a new step on the way, but most platform today are able to handle this in CEF (or similar) or in the material (usually with some limitations) as on 6500 etc..

Purely for the voice there should be no impact on the performance (also depends on how you measure performance) since fresh added generals will not change much for audio real, no added encapsultation will add a lot of delay.

However, there are other things to consider (like how to install QoS is not to present the jitter).

  • Automate the Purge on HFM newspapers and the impact

    Hi all

Some of our customers have their newspapers more considerable HFM, and is having a direct impact on the performance of HFM. I read that once the line count batteries beyoung 500 000 there is a degradation in performance. DB servers our MS SQL.

I was wondering if there is anyway to automate the purge of the newspaper since the backend tables. I want to keep the last 90 days of logs and remove all the other stuff. Oracle is very vague on the subject, and I couldn't find good sources of documentation. My query is related 11.1.1 and more

    (1) automation of purge weekly or monthly will be beneficial?

    (2) how can I automate the purge of the DB on the tables?

    (3) is there an impact on HFM when the purge occurs?

    (4) is there an impact on the users/application if the application if it is open when the purge routine occurs?

Appreciate any help/documentation regarding the reach this goal.

Hello. Oracle is vague about what they don't know what databases are running on the hardware. I had a customer who does not see performance issues until their audit log data was approximately 80,000,000 records. Many people use a SQL process to archive off the coast and truncate tables. Others use the utility provided with HFM to do. Whatever it is, having a few months of online documents and then extract / truncating should be fine. Ideally users are not in the system, or at least not make data changes (loading, magazines, input, etc.).

  • Performance question

    Hallo,

I have a question about the design of applications and performance. I have an Acutal scenario for tax purposes and want to store different versions of it. For example: V1 completed 1 week after closing, V2 finished 2 weeks after the closing, V3 completed 3 weeks after closing. I don't want to keep track of the versions with custom dimensions. The data is loaded several times between these versions and loading data with replace deletes old data (I know, protection with gradual submission would be possible, but I want to keep the process as simple as possible). I have two following solutions in mind and would like to know, what is the best when it comes to performance:

-Creation of new scenarios for each version.

-Create a period P13, P14, etc... Additional time by Version.

There is an additional condition: there should be analysis of the differences between the different versions. I think that, calculations of periods in a subcube gap should be faster in the calculation of the variance between scenarios (because each scenario is a subcube and those that must be loaded and stored in the cache). But I'm not sure, the magnitude of the impact on the performance of additional periods in a subcube is really. Do you have experiences with subcube performance, considering that there are periods of 14 to 16 and not only of 12?

    Thank you very much.

    Best regards

    Bastian

    Hi, Bastian,.

Unfortunately Oracle support only responds to technical questions about existing systems and not news.

Of what I have seen on the market in the course of the last few years, creating a period (P13, P14 etc.) was a Hyperion Enterprise approach and not HFM... I think the main reason is that you can edit periods only to the design of the application and the creation of the profile and not later.

So, because you don't want to use the dimension custom to separate your data, the best next solution based on my experience is to create alternative scenarios using the same prefix like Actual1, reelles2 etc... this way you can create rules for all scenarios using the trigger, if (left (HS. Scenario.Member, 6) = "Actual"... About the performance, I guess you need to load only P12, is that correct?

    Kind regards

  • Get data from performance CPU with PowerCLI

Can I use powerCLI to do the following:?

    -Get 2 virtual machines.

-Get the following metric: "Application (MHz) CPU" for the last week

    -Export data to CSV

It is indeed a compromise between the statistical data, you want to keep it online and the capacity of storage-performance on your vCenter server.

For me there is no rule of universal thumb, you will need to find the ideal configuration for your environment and your specific needs.

In my environment, the works of config 4, 4, 2, 2. Impact on minimum performance and I can get online reports I need.

Don't forget that you can change the time and frequency of the aggregation jobs that run on the database, you don't have to stick with the default values.

But be aware of the impact on the data available in each historical interval.

And there are alternatives, as I mentioned in my answer to another of your son: Re: Getting pics of use with get-stat
