Import RAW files as a b & W images?

Hello

I'm a long-time user LR and just upgraded to LR4, but who have a camera (Panasonic Lumix LX3) LR import raw such as bw images. I can't understand why?
I checked the import settings (DNG imports) (apply predefined > None) etc. When I look in the history panel after importing it just said the imported date, no indication of conversion to body weight.

Of course, I can just convert them to color in the Panel to develop, but I do not understand why this is the case and only this camera files (my guns all import them as usual)?
Thanks for all the ideas.

Alan.

It is likely that you have changed the default settings inadvertently develop Adobe (which can be applied for specific devices only). To check, take one of these 'B & W' images in the develop module, press on and hold that the SHIFT key and the reset button on the bottom right will change... on "Reset (Adobe)" click on it and the image should go back to the color. If so, yes you have changed the default settings. To fix, go to develop > set defaults, then click on restore default settings Adobe.

This camera needs Adobe Camera Raw 5.2 to read these raws, and I'm not sure what has your CS4 installation.

Then go here Adobe - Photoshop: for Macintosh: Camera Raw 5.7 update download and install the update and let me know if it works.

  • Is it possible to import Raw files into the LR catalog...... including all changes in an external file raw editor such as Capture One?

Is it possible to import Raw files into the LR catalog...... including all changes in an external file raw editor such as Capture One?

I can import the Raw file successfully, but can't see all the changes that have been applied in Capture One. IM assuming not, but just to check.

Your assumption is correct, Capture One, Lightroom and other third party raw processors have their own exclusive process and profiles to render the raw data.

They do not make permanent changes to the raw data and save changes to a .xmp file or to a Lightroom catalog file.

  • Lightroom - can I import RAW files, re - order, then change the numbering of the original RAW file?

Lightroom - can I import RAW files, re - order, then change the numbering of the original RAW file?

I used two different cameras and several memory cards to shoot a recent wedding. Unfortunately, time of the camera were a different time, so the time of capture does not correctly order them. Obviously neither does the name of the file...

    Thank you

    Natalie

Yes, after you use Lightroom to correct the capture time in the files themselves, in the library the library module > rename Photo allows you to rebuild all the filenames selected from scratch. Just customize the preset file name. Use the chips here, you can set up a change of name that begins with a numbering sequence (so that they appear in the order you want) and including the Date, hour, Minute, second in addition to other chips or custom text to add to each file name.

  • Program change to import RAW files

I don't want pictures to be my main program to import my RAW files from my camera. I want to use Nikon transfer and bridge. How can I change this preference?

    You can do two things:

-in Photos, uncheck the box that says 'Open pictures for this device'

-in the Image Capture, at lower left, choose the application you want to open

Unfortunately, as far as I know, this must be done for all the cards, you use... a nuisance.

Could not import raw (NEF) files in lightroom - preview not available for this file

The XMP files should not make a difference. If you happened to have used Nikon Transfer to download images of your D7200, that might be the problem. Some versions of this program are known to make the images unreadable by Adobe software. If this is what happened, here is a utility that you can download that is supposed to fix the images so that they open in Lightroom:

I looked everywhere on this site but nothing of all the work of other suggestion (by dragging photos into Lightroom and changing permissions, etc.). I downloaded 6 Lightroom on my MacBook which has OS X Version 10.9.5. The first image is when I tried to import from my memory card. The second is when I tried to import the RAW files from my Dropbox account - they all files are "grayed out on ' so I can't import them. I'd appreciate really any advice on how to solve this problem!

I'm not a MAC person, but I don't think you want to import into System\Library.

You want to select a folder somewhere that is not in the directory system, but a directory that is designed for users to actually put their files, as in the Photos, Documents or an external HD.

  • I'm not able to import RAW files in my LR, HELP! Thank you!! :)

For the wedding I'm actually now I hired a 2nd shooter and it's her I'm not able to download the RAW files. (previously I had another 2nd shooter and had no problem downloading the RAW files and I shoot in JPG, so do not treat RAW too) I don't know what is the question, but I get this error when importing:

"The files are a camera which is not recognized by the RAW format support in Lightroom." (247)"and then it doesn't matter these images.

I need to solve imports RAW question as soon as POSSIBLE and think about the upgrade (this can even be the cause?), is the creative cloud my only option? It is possible to buy just a licensed copy? Thank you very much!!!

    Devices supported by Camera Raw

The link above lists camera makes and models supported by Lightroom and what version of Lightroom takes supported only the camera.

You need not necessarily upgrade Lightroom - although this isn't a bad idea and the $9.99 / month, Plan of photography is a great value for a photographer wedding and guard you up to date with the latest version and features at any time.

If you aren't ready to upgrade, then you can use the free Adobe's DNG Converter to create DNG files from Raw images, and then change the DNG in your version of Lightroom"

  • How is it, I can't import RAW files from my Canon 70 d in my 4 of Lightroom?

I've updated my camera to a Canon 70 D and cannot get my RAW files to upload in my 4 of Lightroom. I'm on Mac Book Pro, Yosemite OS X 2013

You need a minimum of Lightroom v5.2 to import directly into Lightroom.

You can use the Adobe's DNG Converter to convert CR2 to DNG first and import this way if you do not want to upgrade your version of Lightroom for more later.

  • RAW and JPEG on the disk, only import RAW files?

I shot some photos this morning, and the camera is set up to generate a RAW and JPEG file (if it's a difference, the camera is a Panasonic Lumix GX1). I copied all the files from the SD card to a folder on an external HARD drive and then tried to import into Lightroom.

In the import dialog box, the only files he showed me import were the RA2 (Panasonic RAW) files, not JPEG files. My first thought was that he decided my name do not import duplicates - but the file names are the same, but extensions are different and the file sizes are different. Why LR would consider that these are duplicates?

Any thoughts on how to get my RAW and JPEG imported?

    Hello

    Greetings!

Yes, there is a setting in the preferences.

    Open Lightroom

Click on edit-> preferences-> Genaral or Lightroom (Windows)-> preferences-> General (MAC)

Check the box below and click ok and relaunch lightroom.

    Now import and check.

  • I see my .nef being adjusted automatically when importing raw files

Sorry if this is a stupid question or answered before, but when I import files from my CF card in lightroom, import the files I can see them coming as I pulled on them and then adjust automatically to be darker.  I import with no presets.  Is this a function of lightroom see what camera images where shot with it and then make an adjustment based on the camera?  Is there anyway to eliminated adjustments because the files are imported.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • "Shrinking" when importing RAW files?

I save RAW (CR2) files to a folder on my hard drive.  I then import/copy them to the catalogue (No. DNG conversion).  Most of the files are 18-20meg.  However, when I mouse over the image in the library, it shows that most of them like 15meg yet CR2.  What happens here?  I also don't create previews (yet), in most cases.  Also I use LR 5.5 on OS10.9.

Yes, I need to learn how to store / organize photos more efficiently. In the meantime, I want to assure you that i've got full access to data for editing. After all, that's why I'm shooting in RAW.

Can someone help me out here?

Where you see the size of the file in the library?

Are you confused Megapixels with Mo?

The megapixels are determined by the width and the height of the sensors and data relatively constant for a particular configuration of brute, while the megabytes would vary based on the compressibility of the raw data and embedded preview JPG which are more compressible than if there are smooth areas and less noise due to the ISO settings, so the size of files themselves may vary considerably.

Please make sure that the camera should be listed as supported in the following article:

If it is supported, then make sure that in the window of import Destination option on the right should be expanded.

If this does not help, please help us with the following details:

1 Lightroom version (5.6 or CC)

2 model and brand of camera
