Impossible to install OS on my Qosmio G20-110

My hard drive does not so I bought a hard drive from 320 GB to replace the failure, but I can t seem to get the operating system to install.

I tried the other 60 GB as the principal also tried the 320 GB but the OS still doesn't load. I even got it to a computer shop, but they can t get it working anymore. If anyone could help me or has a system restore disc, they can copy, I would be grateful.

I tried to download driver Toshibas but they say my laptops not supported due to his age. I put t know what else to do so I hope someone can help me.

Thank you

Can you please send more details?
You want to install the OS by using image original recovery or the Microsoft installation disc?
The operating system you want to install?

What happens exactly when you want to install OS?
Is that what you have loaded driver RAID before installation of the OS starts (support of diskette drive)?

  • Upgrading RAM in the Qosmio G20-110

What is the limit of RAM upgrade in a Qosmio G20-110? Right now I have 512 MB. Can I put it in 1512, by adding 1 GB in the extra slot?

Of course you can do it.
The laptop is able to manage 2 GB max memory (2 x 1024 MB)
You can mix the modules I mean that you can use for example 1024 MB and 512 MB sizes.

I also found the compatible modules on the Toshiba options & Accessories site.
    512 MB DDR2-400/533 (PA3412U - 1 M 51)
    1 GB OF DDR2 400/533 (PA3411U-1M1G)

    > Then I try to install via a PEN drive bootable with integrated... XP but when I go into the BIOS I n I find USB Boot option... :-(

Connect the USB flash memory key to the laptop, now switch on and press F12.
The start menu should appear where you could see all the possible boot devices.

Do you see the USB boot option in the start menu?
If this isn't the case, then you will not be able to boot from USB flash memory.

    > Then I remove my main hard drive and put it in another laptop and install the XP, its work in this laptop, but unfortunately when I put the new HARD drive the Qosmio his departure gives the XP logo but in 5-10 sec its judgment and give a blue screen message then then restart automatically...

I guess that this is because the RAID drivers was not included!
Qosmio G20 supports the RAID controller and you add the RAID driver (located on the Toshiba UE driver page) in order to recognize the HARD drive.
But I put t know if you could do so using another computer I guess that's not possible.

Maybe you can try to disable RAID in BIOS

  • How to install driverupdate LAN for Qosmio G20?

In response to an alert from Toshiba, I downloaded an updated their site driver LAN driver. I can not find, however, any info on how to install it despite the statement on the website info would be on this site or in the downloaded file.

No icons probably looking in the file to produce anything. Any suggestions on how I might proceed? I have a Qosmio G20 (PQG21).

You'll have to do it the manual way:

    (1) unpack the contents of the downloaded lan - xp - 80430.zip file to a temporary location as c:\landriver
    (2) open the control panel and double-click the system icon
    (3) in the brand-new "System Properties" box click on HARDWARE on the top bar
    (4) now, click on 'Device Manager' and a new box will appear with several tiny icons.
    5) click on the "Network adapters" icon and select your Lan card (.. .should say something like INTEL and 100)
    (6) right click on the entry of Intel (r) and select "UPDATE DRIVER"
    (7) now follow the instructions in the "Update Wizzard'...

    (x) No, not this time---> NEXT
    (x) install from a list or a specific location---> NEXT
    (x) do not search, I will choose the driver to install---> NEXT
    (x) have Disk---> NEXT

    (8) where it is said: "copy the Builder files from" you must NAVIGATE to the folder you created in step 1 (c:\landriver)
    (9) now choose 'E100b325.inf' If you are running Windows XP OR E100ant5.inf if you are running Windows 2000 [choose the option for Windows XP]
    10) confirm with [ok] in the event that a box will appear telling you that the drivers are not certified by Windows, blah blah blah
    (11) reboot if your computer ask

I don't think its necessary to update your LAN driver unless you had problems with your network adapter.
I have described the procedure of a manual update which is exactly the same for each device. I can't
confirm if these drivers work on your computer, even if they should according to INTEL.
If you face problems to use your LAN card after the upgrade of drivers, do not hesitate to roll back to your previous settings... but for the moment let's hope we don't need to explain how to do this. ;)

    Good luck

  • Install Windows 7 on Qosmio G20

    Hello everyone, I have a Toshiba Qosmio G20 - 102 model: PQG20E

My operating system is Windows XP and iam trying to install Windows 7, when I run the Setup, choose "Custom Installation" (I can not choose the form of the option 'Upgrade' XP to 7), but when iam supposed to choose the drive I install windows, I get this message:

"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. Windows needs the driver for device [TOSHIBA RAID]. Click on "Load Driver" and load the required device driver. »

I tried to update the driver, I tried searching on the internet, but with no use, I'd appreciate it really if anyone can help, thanks :)

    Hello Ahmed

In general I put t if it is good idea to install Win 7 on this old notebook. OK you can try it but I fear that you will not be able to find the right drivers for it, especially some specific Toshiba m.

As you probably know, Toshiba doesn't support this model of laptop to Win7, not even for Vista so the history can be quite complicated.

Anyway, you can try to load THE RAID driver. You can find it in the KR10N folder.

Load it using the floppy or USB key. I put t know if it will work, but you can try it.

    Please help me

According to specification for laptop, your laptop Qosmio has Atheros WLAN + BT card inside.
I do not know what you have installed and what is the status of the drivers in Device Manager, but all the drivers, tools and utilities that you can download driver Toshiba download page - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp or portal Toshiba WLAN - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/

When everything is installed properly you can use the WLAN connection when the wireless network adapter is correctly enabled and it can be done by using the FN + F8 key combination. It works for you?

  • Qosmio G20-110 with Vista-> cannot transfer files to SD card

    Hello

I created Vista on this machine by following the instructions of Francisco Jr. Everything works fine except

    1. I can't transfer files on a SD card. I get the following error:
    «Error 0 x 80070079 semaphore time out...» »

    2. He reformatted not either. If I try to format it, I get the following error:
"Windows could not format the drive.
The Toshiba SD Memory Format utility would not work either.

The same problems occur if I insert a Memory Stick. Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem? I noticed some people on the forum with a similar problem toshiba Satellite:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=25227&MessageID=95150??

The strange thing is, I can not read the card no problem, copy her okay and even delete files it contains. But I can't transfer files to it and I can't format it. The card works fine in other laptops with internal SD disks. In addition, it works fine if I plug an external drive in the Qosmio. Under XP it was no problem. I tried to reinstall Vista, reinstall the drivers supplied by Francisco Jr. and ran windows update several times. But I still get the same problem.

Looks like a problem with Vista not being able to communicate properly with the SD Qosmio player. Would appreciate any help on this.

    See you soon.

    Hello

As you probably know not all cards are supported and can be used!
In of the Qosmio G20 unit user manual you should find information what cards argues the Qosmio G20card player!
    Please check this box.

    Regarding your card problem SD;

Well, I read that you also a message in another thread.
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=25227

And regarding the declaration, you can read data from SD cards. But it seems that you can not always copy or remove the data from the SD card.

Well, the SD card should normally pay a locking function. If the card is locked you can only read but you will not be able to remove something from the card or you will not be able to format the card.
I think you should check this switch!

  • Down screen on Qosmio G20-110

I bought my g20 on a year and a half ago, was a happy owner for a few months, until I realized that half of the screen has been low, had it sent back for repair and everything was pink...

Recently, didn't completely of half of the screen (the same half who fainted in front), its black with a few different color vertical lines on it.

now a little more 1 year since the repair and it seems all its out of warranty. I am faced with a quote about 550 euro ball park figure for what fixed it.

What's more is, they will be not even watch it for less than 120 euros an hour. 120 euros the hour!

So quick questions, if half of the screen sometimes flickers black and showing vertical lines standing is most of the time, it's screen missing lcd or something else? (I don't want to pay 120 euros for them to tell me what's wrong)

there that somehow all Toshiba will cover something like this out of the goodness of their heart? It was more expensive cell phone in the shop and the display is obviously faulty...

also, please don't tell me its my fault for not getting the extended warranty, the shop who sold me the laptop wanted more than 700 euros for the guarantee and the site doesn't sell it to me, I don't live in one of the regions the site covers (Ireland)

and last question, is possible that I could buy the part cost price of anywhere, I saw him online in America for around 300 euros, and the thought of paying almost double that did in Ireland makes me a little sick.

    Thanks for any help

    Hello Joseph

I'm sorry to hear you have a display with your Qosmio problem. I use my G20 nearly 1.5 years and so far, everything works fine. I hope I won't have bad luck like you.

In this story, I see a common problem. FSA or authorized service partners are not Toshiba services but the independents who have contract with Toshiba. Toshiba is responsible for parts but each service partner defines only prices. Toshiba has absolutely no influence on this. As you know, we are the victims of what is called the 'free market '.

Back to your problem: if possible please connect the external monitor to your Qosmio and check what is happening exactly. I hope that everything will be OK and it will be proof of your graphics card isn't faulty, but display.

I recommend you to check the other services in your country and to compare prices.

    Bye and good luck!

PS Please inform us what was your decision on the repair of the screen.

I realize account I need a driver disk to get, maybe this works - drivers who do I really need - there are tons of SATA drives - or maybe about it, I'm going the wrong way - any help will be apprecitaed.

    Hello

I didn t try to install Linux on Qosmio G20 but friend of mine told me he has success using Suese 9.3 because there is also the RAID (Redundant Array of inexpensive (or independent) Disks). On this way, you can use two drives in combination for fault tolerance and performance / fault tolerance is the ability of a system to respond gracefully to a hardware or software failure unexpected.

Sorry but I have no more information.

    Hello

Have you plugged an external monitor to the laptop? Maybe it s something wrong with the display internal and so you can see anything on this subject. It s worth a try because you can check this in a few minutes.

But I guess that it s a hardware problem with the display internal and/or mainboard or something other than your laptop must be verified in professional people, they can disassemble the laptop and exchanging parts of equipment.

On the Toshiba site, you can search the nearest service provider authorized good luck!
