Impossible to obtain Verisign Signature validated in Acrobat

For the last six months, I was able to get my digital signature Verisign validated in Adobe Acrobat format. Just today, I renewed my Verisign certificate for another year. I saved the certificate on my hard drive using a password to fix it. When I certify a my signature on a document, the resulting signature icon says "...". invalid persona"and the icon in the upper left corner (the head and shoulders of a person) has an exclamation mark on it.

I am frustrated trying to figure out what is wrong. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mike,.

Acrobat (and when I say Acrobat Acrobat and Reader time) it is sufficient to establish a valid string. If you have selected one of the root certificates as the anchor of trust and that the signature is valid, then you're done. One thing I suggest you do is to ensure that all certificates below the anchor of trust have the revocation information. In the view of the certificate dialog box, you can select the revocation tab. As you highlight (select) each cert below the anchor trust you should see information in the Details window on the revocation information. If the text says that it is missing or there are problems let me know, otherwise you are good to go.

Either way, you might be able to uncheck display all found certification paths (above the window where you see three identical channels) and then you will see only the a string that uses Acrobat. That could help to simplify things.

Finally, it would be great if you could mark the thread as answered (that is, only if you feel the question was answered) to help other people looking for the forum close to the bottom of what you have to look.

Thank you

Steve

    Hi lullolullo,

You came to the right place. Signature validation begins with trust. If you do not trust the signer, or one of the certificates in the chain of signature, then nothing happens. A signature string looks like this:

    Big Time CA root Cert

    Intermediate CA

End entity (the signatory, or in this case, you)

You must assign trust at least one of the certificates in the signature string. You can either add trust via the dialog manage identities approved or by a preference where you can inherit trust from the Windows certificate store (Windows only, not Mac). To see the string in the signature you want to do the following:

    • Right mouseclick on the signature
    • Select Show Signature properties in the pop-up menu
    • Click view certificate in the Signature Properties dialog box
    • The string is displayed in the tree view on the left side of the dialog box

If you select the trust tab, and then different certificates in the output string, you will be able to see what is the anchor of trust.

Enough confidence, to Restrictions of strategy. When a certification authority (CA) issues certificates, they will often add the certificate policy extension. You can find this by selecting the Details tab, and then scroll the list box for the certificate policies. Politics is a long number in dotted line that acts as a marker for a specific set of rules. The rules themselves tend to be published online in a "Certificate Practice Statement" document, but becomes a bit beyond the scope of your problem. The rule can mean something as all certificates under this political constraint problems are communicated to the employees of the company XYZ and must be a hardware token. This is an example of something you might see but I do not say it the exact scenario that appeal to you.

The root CA generally do not have an extension of certificate policy, but all the certificates under it make sense that this string obeys a set of specific rules.

On the application of the rules. Let's say you have this Big Time, which issues certificates for IBM, Microsoft, Apple and Adobe. Each of these strings contain a different certification policy. Now, let's say that I trust it Big Time, which means that each signature that created this channel until Big Time would be reliable and valid. Now let's say I want to only trust the signatures coming from my fellow Adobe employees. What I would do, is add a policy of Restriction to the trust setting, which makes the more granular trust.

Towards the top, where is Restriction policy. The strategies on the display of the certificate tab. When you view the certificate itself that is designated as the anchor of trust do you see something in the area of Group Policy Restrictions? I mean something data in the certificate policies field edition which seems to be gray. If Yes, then the signatory certificate and other certificates in the chain must have the numbered in certificate policy Extension.

If the restriction is there, you can remove it by going in the dialog Manage approved identities , you can get from the menu Advanced . From there, you will need to select certificates from the drop-down list display. Find the certificate that corresponds to the anchor of the trust, selected in the drop-down list, and then click Edit Trust . Finally, select the policy Restrictions on the dialog box change the Certificate Trust. However, I'm not, and advise you to break any policy of the company if they want the restriction in place.

  • Create the empty Signature field in Acrobat 9

Sounds stupid, but I can't find the way to create empty signature fields in Acrobat 9 pro, that I need to send the file so that Reader users can sign.

Sign and then remove the signature (leaving the empty signature field) isn't a valid alternative, this should be done by many (not just me).

You can create a signature field using the Digital Signature tool. Forms: Form tools: Digital Signature. This places a task on the page which is for the signature.

The current version of 7.0000 E1 software is very old, and the latest available version is now 7.0.5a (E4). E1 engine is very old and is not compatible with the signature that runs on the E4 engine.

Here are the release notes for 7.0.5a (E4):

    http://www.Cisco.com/Web/software/282549758/50172/IPS-7_0-5A-E4_readme.txt

You need to upgrade the module running at least version 5.1 (6) E3 before you can upgrade to 7.0.5a (E4).

Once the IPS module has been upgraded to version 7.0.5a (E4), you can update to the latest signature.

    I hope this helps.

Hi - I've never asked a question here - forgive me if I am doing it wrong. I am trying to add a digital signature field in Acrobat DC, so it can be signed to the reader by someone other than me. (A digital step type that DC will draw to you or allow you to draw yourself.) I can do the fields but they do not work. The signature fields used to have little flags in the corner of the box that indicates that they were ready to be signed. My steps consist of:

Select Tools - prepare forms. I click on the "this document requires signature. Automatic detection is on.

Next, I check the automatically created fields. I tried to just change the properties of the signature signature box and I also tried drawing signature block or a right signature (not sure what the difference is) , I noticed that under "More" there «return it to the form acrobat.» When I do I get the message that "Acrobat will now NEA Acroform - click ok to continue"-I made and save - can I save again with the new name of 'Save as another' to activate the form. So I check the form in Reader, but it does not work! What I am doing wrong? I used to be able to do that!  I tried other ways, but DC wants me to a digital signature for me (I already have one!) Help please!

In Acrobat, you can add a signature field to the form:

Now, for this reason, not everyone has a full version of Acrobat, so it must also be signed by a person with only a version of the player. • The maximum number of signature in a pdf of valid by acrobat or adobe reader

How many signarues can be valied by acrobat or adobe reader

I found that when the number of signatures in a PDF on 254, the signature is not valid if they are valid by the other pdf reader.

It's logical. To validate a signature seems to imply the creation of a temporary document of the signed file, so you force Acrobat to create hundreds of temporary files. As well as still holding, you have reached a strict limit on the files. The signatures are always in the whole of the file; signed with a digital signature "per page" is simply sign the entire document to hundreds of times. This confusion occurs when the irrelevant 'appearance signature' is considered to be important. It is not, and users will have to learn to ignore absolutely. I would like the forbidden appearance. To move a document based workflow page, tag each page with text and graphics required, then sign once.

It is has never been reported before to my knowledge. The incredibly poor performance causes everyone to give up a lot earlier. Congratulations on your determination!

  • Comment causes failure of signature validation

    Hi all

I write a C++ library of signature which works very well so far, what means that Adobe Reader 2015.017.20053 shows the toolbar of the signature, including the green sign and "signed and all signatures are valid.

Now, I add a comment line to the document before signing with my library.

The signature algorithm and the calculation of the data used for the calculation of signature stays as - is (if the comment is included in this data).

The comment breaks the signature check, because now Adobe reader said "at least a signature is not valid" and in the signature panel, he said "there are errors in the formatting or the information contained in this signature (the signature byte range is invalid).

Is there a special rule how handle comments in the calculation of the signature?

Or Adobe reader checks these documents differently? Is it maybe a bug?

AHA! Insertion of comments between the lines startxref and %% EOF is expressly forbidden by a very specific rule that describes exactly what the two front lines % EOF must be (see the syntax > leadership Structure > trailer file section of the specification). Of course, not all readers will check that it is well done exactly.

  • Cannot create transparent stamp signature more in Acrobat XI

I recently noticed, to my annoyance, I can't create a stamp transparent signature in Acrobat XI more.

Previously, when I clicked on "Signature of Place", I was given a "buffer" sort of transparent with which I was able to put a signature in a document where I wanted to. This differs from sign with a certificate, because he did not ask my certificate password and I didn't draw a box - it was just a stamp.

I'm still able to create a digital signature secure by drawing a rectangle whose image of my signature. However, the image still appears to be centered in the rectangle, making it difficult to guess exactly what size the rectangle when I sign a document so that I can get the signature to the right place. In addition, the signature doesn't seem to be transparent at the signing of the certificates.

Because security is usually not VERY important for me, it's much more convenient to be able to use the old method of signing "character". But when I click on "set the signature" it will default the secure digital signature. It doesn't seem to be a way to use the old signature stamp unsecured.

This tool has been removed from Acrobat?

If you have created a stamp in your signature that has a transparent background, you would use the stamp tool to apply it. In Acrobat 11 reach you the stamp tool by selecting: comment > Annotations > add stamp (stamp icon)

  • Impossible to activate the signature ink in Reader

    Hello

I am creating a document with forms using Acrobat X Pro that allows users of Acrobat Reader X / XI to place an ink signature. Acrobat Pro, when I choose file-> save-> Reader Extended PDF-> enable extra features and save the document, Signature of ink is always unavailable when I open the document in Reader. The filler panel & sign is indeed enabled, but only enabled to add a digital signature. 'Initial place' and other signature of ink options are grayed out.

    What Miss me?

    Thanks in advance

This will work if you remove the digital signature of the form fields.
