Impossible to uninstall, play or install Halo 2 for windows vista

One time, I tried to install Halo 2 on my hp laptop. It had windows vista 64 bit (I now have windows 7). It installed, but when I tried to play it, it says "this program requires Microsoft windows vista or Microsoft windows 2003 server" and wouldn't let me play. So I tried to uninstall it. He says that it uninstalled, but when I looked, it was still on my computer. So I tried to uninstall it using ccleaner, and he gave me the same error message when I tried to play it. I went through all the files and deleted all. Then I tried searching for it in the start menu and nothing came, so I thought that I got rid of him. But when I tried to install it again, he said that the program was already installed... so I checked under the control panel and of course, he was always there and I still couldn't uninstall - play - or install it.

Hey, thanks for your info. Yes, I tried both methods and it was always on my computer. I tried to install it anyway, but it would not even read the disc. He said "the files are missing or damaged in the installation directory. I'll just forget. In any case, thank you for your time and your input.

Is it possible to get this game to work with Windows 7? I tried to run it as a Vista program, but it still does not.  This laptop capabilities go beyond the requirements of game system.

    Hello

You're talking about Microsoft Halo: Combat Evolved. If it's the same thing that you are referring to, its compatible with Windows 7, you don't have to install or use it in compatibility mode.

See if you get an error such as that of the article when you play the game and then continue with the steps in there.

I can't install the update for Windows vista (KB2718704), a mode without failure or after clean window reboot.

    What should I do?

    Hello

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    ·         You get the error message?

    ·         You are able to install other updates successfully?

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: Temporarily disable the security software .

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 2: Put the computer in a clean boot State to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After completing the steps in the clean boot troubleshooting, follow step 7 the link to start the computer to a Normal startupmode.

Method 3: You can also manually install updates (KB number) by downloading from the Microsoft Download Center.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx

Method 4: Follow the steps in the article.

How to reset the Windows Update components?

You cannot install some programs or updates

Note: You must take the backup of the data before performing any installation of windows.

  • Halo 2 for Windows Vista compatibility problems?

I have problems of execution of Halo 2 for Vista after installing it on my Windows 7 installation.  Whenever I start it, it immediately goes to "No answer" as soon as it loads.  I tried to start with the compatibility options for all versions of Vista (plain, sp1, and sp2) but nothing works.  It seems to freeze at the part where it loads in the Games for Windows Live components.  I saw elsewhere that people have problems with this and that by removing completely all Games for Windows games and executives charge then reinstall them with Halo 2 first worked.  This has not worked for me, and after some further experimentation, I decided to check if it was a hardware problem, so I did a clean install of Vista and had no problem if he started.  All my drivers are up to date, but I can't find any more away.  Any suggestions?

I try to install Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista and it continues to fail with the error code 800706BE and then my security/antivirus software detects a trojan virus. What can I do? As I would like to download the trial version of Office 2010.

In the case opposite & whereas KB971644 is NOT a security update, you can simply hide the "thing":

    1. stop the automatic updates service:

Start > Right click on run , and then select run as administrator > services.msc (type) > [OK]
Double-click automatic updates > click stop
(Stopping the service will take a moment)

2 remove the contents of the download folder:

Start > Right click on run , and then select run as administrator >
    (type or copy/paste) %windir%\SoftwareDistribution > [OK]
Open the download folder and delete its content
    Close the window.

3 start | Control Panel | System maintenance and (if you use Classic view, skip this step). Windows Update |  View the updates available (or Select the updates installed): right click on the (platform) update for Windows Vista (KB971644) | Click hide update | Confirm the prompt UAC (User Account Control), if any, & OK your way out.

    4. start the automatic updates service:

Start > Right click on run , and then select run as administrator > services.msc (type) > [OK]
Double-click automatic updates > click Start
(Stopping the service will take a moment)

    =====================================
To restore/show updates for Vista: Start | Control Panel | System maintenance and (if you use Classic view, skip this step) | Windows Update | Restore hidden updates: Find and select the update you want to install. Click restore. You can now select once again it and install through the normal process.

NB: If KB971644 were available for download/installation manual (and is not), I would have you try it.
