  I have another type of problem with Firefox

  Description

  Window "Ready to Install" Firefox "Software Update" appeared. The folder "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\updates\0" contained the files update.mar, update.status and update.version. Each of the 3 files have been deleted. The next time that Firefox has been started, no update occurred because update files were missing. In the Menu bar, clicking Help showed in the menu drop-down that "apply downloaded update now" was always on the list. By clicking on "Apply downloaded update now" open "Software Update" window "Ready to install update", so that Firefox still considers that the update files exist, but they do not. In the window "Software Update", by clicking on "Restart Firefox" restart of Firefox, but once again it there's no update, and remains "apply downloaded update now" on the Help menu. How can "Apply downloaded update now" be replaced by "Check for Updates" so the update files can be downloaded?

  You can manually reset the software update feature by closing Firefox and remove the file "updates" (which seems you have done) and the two files "active - update.xml" and "updates.xml" - these are in the installation (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox) directory or in the profile folder (C:\Documents and Settings\nom_utilisateur\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\something.default).

  Okey before all this mess my FF ran quite correctly, some crash or froze but no big deal. Until I got this malware called Valluadealshopper.com that messed with my two FF and Chrome. I tried to get rid of him by adwcleaner but when I rebooted I couldnot open FF or Chrome. I uninstalled then reinstalled FF ver 28 but cannot start it.   I just had a 160 of Optiplex opportunity (model DC01T) with BIOS A06 and have tried everything so he could update BIOS A10, A09, A08 or A07.

  I downloaded the BIOS in DOS/Windows unified and put it on a key USB of FreeDOS.  When I run the package, it runs through everything and then restarts, but never actually updates the BIOS.  I tried to install Linux on a USB Flash drive, install the Dell OMSA tools and use dellBiosUpdate pointing to the A09.   The only thing I can think is that when the system restarts it goes to a "Fan Alert!" message because this unit didn't come with the fan & HD support.  I have one on its way, but if this warning/error is clearing the BIOS update flag then everything should work once the fan comes and I get that connected.

  If this is not the case is there anything else I should try?

  I finally got figured out if anyone is interested.  The fan error could be the cause of the normal update to fail, but by using a bunch of switches, you can force the update to install, and then restart.

  I can connect to administrator very well, but when I try to submit anything, I get an error and it makes me login again... a vicious circle.  It worked, not sure what has changed. Today, I tried to do the download and install and received the following error:

  Finally understood the problem by looking at another post... Our network administrator changed the IP not too long ago and it has messed up the link way but if I use the actual IP address to enter the administrator I can change and update things very well.  Now on the latest version.
