In a mixed network wireless printer

I just bought a HP Photosmart 5510 printer and installed fine on my wireless network.

My wireless router is configured to give a permanent IP address to the printer using DHCP (reserved address to the mac address of the printer). My wireless router using NAT and it is connected to an ethernet switch on my local network. Thus, every computer/device connected to my wireless router can find and use the printer very well BUT any computer/device connected to my local network can see internal IP address of the wireless router.

I'm trying to configure the port forwarding on my wireless router so that all traffic to the printer is routed correctly and on computers on my local network, it appears that the wireless router is the printer. I found a few references to port numbers and I tried a few combinations without success. Can someone provide me with a complete list of UDP and TCP ports that uses the wireless printer so that I can configure my wireless router port forwarding?

I also tried to disable NAT on my wireless router, but that no longer works. I don't see all the parameters more usable on my wireless router that would allow me to expose the printer to my local network.

If there is any other way I can get on my wired network (LAN) computers to access my printer on my wireless network (WLAN) please let me know.

Thank you.

Miguel.

It seems that nobody knows the answer to my question, so I guess that the solution is to resume this printer and get a printer ethernet instead. In this way, it can be shared on the network cable and accessible also to connected wireless devices. I just got the Officejet 6500 that has ethernet and wireless. It works very well.

Thank you.

Check the led or LCD screen on the printer to confirm that the wireless status is OK (the printer can be powered on with the wireless turned off).

Several devices were all printed on home wireless network, but often the message of the printer is offline. Scan doctor suggests power recycling the router/printer, which seems to work but which is very annoying when it happens every day. y at - it a fix for this problem

These settings are to set up your wireless printer to stay connected to your router, wireless devices stay better connected and makes your router secure and hack proof.

While the DHCP is convenient, devices like printers must always be assigned an IP (fixed) manually to avoid conflicts on your wireless network.

    1. Set a static in the printer IP address (click here) outside the range of the DHCP of the router (check your manual). It is for Linksys routers, but can be used for all routers. Check your DHCP range and change this first if necessary. More Help Wireless Printing is here (Windows solution 4, static IP).

Or check in the printer that ' Auto Off/sleep/power saving mode ' is disabled the System Mode Time Out is set to zero (0) Use the built-in webserver (EWS) by visiting the printer address IP address in the address bar of your browser, click on settings tab/Auto Off. Or use the printer, printer Home Page (EWS) Wizard. Also check the properties of your printers.
    3. If the printer supports and has IPv6 enabled, disable the IPv6 option in the printer.
    4. If necessary and you have assigned a static IP address, try using auxiliary for the preferred DNS Server 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as DNS server.
    5. Wireless printers work on the band Wireless 2.4 Ghz not the band 5.0 Ghz.
    6. Make sure the printer is on the latest firmware by checking with the HP support site.
    7. Check all devices wireless in your home for interference. Check microwave, babyphones, phones, wireless and wireless alarm systems are a big culprit.  Any of these will knock at your printer wireless intermittently.
    8. Make sure that your printer and router are at least 5 feet independently of each other.

In the router: (refer to the manual of your router for more information)

    1. Use a fixed wireless channel as the 1, 6 or 11, never 'auto', try channel 1 first then the rest.
    2. Set the router to 20 Mhz only or 145Mbps router function.
    3. Always use WPA2-AES encryption (personal), but you can try the "mixed" mode
    4. Disable the WPS and never use it and disable the UPnP for the security of routers. No one can hijack your system now and help with wireless connectivity (if you want to know why, research on the web).
    5. If you have a router dual band (2.4 Ghz and 5.0 Ghz bands), make sure the SSID is NOT identical, they must be different for all the bands, even for networks without comments.
    6. SSID broadcast should be enabled.
    7. Save all the settings. Food at the same time, wait 2 minutes.  Power on router wait 2 minutes.
    8. Marketing the printer and check that it reconnects to the router.

  • Cannot print on 8620 via the option on my network wireless

I have 3 computers with Windows 7.   The printer works great as connected USB printer.

the wireless set in place works very well and gets an IP address from my router wireless (an old LinkSys G wireless).

I can't ping the printer.   It does not appear in the ARP table.   I'm trying to set up a wireless connection, but the software cannot find the printer.

Curiously, when I search for networks, I found that the printer was broadcasting as it's own wireless gateway.  I can connect to it, but she has no internet connection.  When I try to add a new printer, the software detects the printer and allows me to add it.  Then I can print to it wireless.   the IP address of the printer is different from what the HP software found when I set wireless upwards, on a totally different subnet.

I doubt that this is the way it is supposed to work, to drop out of your own network to print to the network printer.

In addition, you can access the new IP address and all set up.

Any suggestions on what to look for.   should I change something in my router?

I was able to remedy.  the fact that she printed on the subnet for printers, but not my subnet routers wireless was off the tip.

I had to disable the Isolation AP on my router.  I didn't know that it was running.  After turning this off, so I could find the printer and print all 3 laptops.  Not a firewall issue.

    Thanks for the reply.

  • Unable to connect my P1102w printer to my network wireless (using Mac OS 10.6)

I have a home network wireless vanilla (D-Link to a cable modem) and a MacMini running OS 10.6.8. My Mac laptop and 4th. GEN iPad work seamlessly. But my attempt to long hours to connect my new HP P1102w network was totally frustrating, despite a careful study of the documentation pdf, device/self test the printer configuration sheet, sailing on this forum, I'm looking at a slew of videos YouTube/HP and following all sorts of directions.

The only consolation is the printer works fine on USB connection.

Here are a few questions I met and that stopped me in my tracks:

Carefully following both instructions pdf and video operating instructions online to HP, I get by step 6 w / no problemn. but then I go to step 7, which says:

"Under the Mode of Communication , Infrastructure -click, select your network SSID from the list of names of the network (SSID)" and then click on the button. ""

Problem is that there is nothing in this window. What I see is a State of the Wireless: enable or disabled (according to choice). And even if I try to select enabled, happening right now for people with reduced mobility. Aside: I note that the printed instructions show a copyright date of 2011. It's ancient history in the world of the CPU.

Other issues: the single IP address I can find for the printer is the IPv4 address, but it is only for direct printing Configuration. What is the IP I'm looking for?

Address of the printer hardward, I suppose, is your MAC? Boy, I sure could use better use of language here.

So, needless to say, I'm stuck. It seems that it takes THAT hard, but so far nothing that I could find on the HP support or forums seems to help. Thanks for any advice you can provide.

PS. I wouldn't go back this printer because I am a lover of HP printer, two decade, but alas, I might have if I can't find a solution.

    Dear Gemini02,

Thanks a lot for your helpful answer. It seems very complete, and I'm happy to give it a status of resolved problem, although I have not yet tried.  The reason is, one day before receiving your message, I benefited from technical support from HP that came with the guarantee of my printer (Oh!) I would have called them first before going on the forums. Lesson learned) and they took me in hand.

I quickly reached a support person surprisingly knowledgeable and helpful tech (work of the night in Manila, PI shift), and I quickly accepted allow access remotely to my Mac and printer. For much of the next hour she practically held my hand as she walked through a fairly complex set of steps (very similar to yours) and here!, the problem has been resolved. She later sent me the steps she helped me through, as follows:

  • Set up a wireless printer to a wireless network and to a computer with windows 7

My question is this; I would like to set up my HP 4500 wireless printer to a wireless network and on my laptop windows 7 at the same time. Does make a difference if I put it to the computer first, or the first wireless network?

Just follow the instructions that came with the printer.    Your computer is required to install the printer, so the work of the computer first would be a good idea.

  • New wireless printer will not see my router wireless/network

I have checked the other posts, but their issues are a little different from mine.  I just bought a new wireless printer.  I got Samsung remote in, and no matter what they or I did, nothing worked.  We have installed drivers & everything, and my wireless network will not be displayed in the list of available networks.  I have my router sitting 2 feet of the printer & my laptop.  I know it works because I use my wireless laptop at the same time.  We tried to enter the settings manually & automatically & my network will not be displayed.  I use Windows 7 with the Avira software with an active firewall on my home network.   I have tried for a week now and I'm ready to return the printer.  Help, please.  Here are the parameters that you can request.  The only thing I can think is that I asked to be assigned and IP address because I do not know how to get the real.  Thanks in advance

Manual settings entered: (from my home network properties in Control Panel)

(the exact name of my network)

    Security type: no authentication (open)

encryption type: WEP (even if the drop-down list in the printer software makes me choose wep64 or 32

    Security: wep

    security key: (I get)

    key index: 1

To get it back to where I needed either from me has it taken about 2 months - reinstall all the programs, implemented my toolbars desktop, special etc. It's a chore because I do transcription work and have several versions of Office & I need to do something special for the transplants I don't get this error message because I have more than one version, etc.

If you can afford it (not very expensive), buy an external USB drive enclosure and a hard drive at least as large as your installed hard drive.  Once you get your system as you wish, create a complete image of the disk and save it to the external hard drive.  Sometimes, if you buy a player and a box together, software disk imaging and cloning is included.  Otherwise, there is some disc perfectly adequate cloning/imaging programs available.

If you get a large enough external drive, you can use it to make an image of such system which just after getting properly put things in place and make then one or more periodic images to use as backups.

If you clone rather than image, then you can just swap the current drive for the clone.  It is more useful as a backup in case your installation disc breaks down.  As a general rule, images can be restored from the backup disk or from the software installed on your computer or by using a CD bootable you create using the same backup software.

I highly recommend you get one of the following options (or any other similar software you can find) and make backups.

If you have a Western Digital hard drive, you can get a version of Acronis True Image free of WD (http://support.wdc.com/product/downloaddetail.asp?swid=119) or you can get the software of cloning separately (this is not an exhaustive list and in no particular order, some are free, some not):

    Acronis True Image Home
    EASEUS ToDo Backup
Paragon Drive Copy or Partition Manager Personal
    Casper
    XXClone

    Macrium Reflect free
