Incompatibility of Configuration Dell PowerVault 220 s

Recently, I experienced a power failure on a Dell PowerVault 775N server, which connected a PowerVault 220 s storage device. Once the power has been restored and restarted the server, I get a beep and an indication on the server there is a «Configuration of drives and the NVRAM shift (normal shift)»

We suspect that the controller card may be bad.  Anyone could help the who may have a similar problem before the experiment and give directions with the resolution of this problem?

What's still recoverable data?

Thank you.

Difference between in the PERC configuration and the configuration on the hard drives, a message is displayed at startup upward:

"Configuration of the incompatibility of drives and the NVRAM. Run view/add configuration from the Configuration utility option. Press a button to run the Configuration utility. »

The configuration of RAID arrays is stored in two places: the nonvolatile RAM (NVRAM) of the RAID controller and the hard disk. Following a power failure or configuration change, the configuration in NVRAM now differs from that on the hard drive. Perform the following steps to resolve the issue.

Note: If at any time you are prompted to initialize the table, do not. Initialization destroys all data on the logical drive. During the initialization process, all data bits are changed to zero.

1. Press any key to enter the Configuration utility.

2. in the management Menu, select Configure.

3. Select view/add Configuration.

4. two options are present: view disk Configuration and NVRAM Configuration of display. Because the original configuration is stored on the hard disk, select the Disk Configuration view.

5. check that the correct configuration for the RAID array is now displayed.

6. press the ESC key. When you are prompted to save the configuration, select Yes.

7. the configuration is stored in NVRAM on the RAID controller and matches the configuration on the hard disk. When you are prompted, press a key to continue.

8. press ESC until you are asked to leave. Click Yes to exit.

9. press on CTRL + ALT + DELETE to restart the computer. The server should now start normally.

A note more:

If you don't see not an overview of NVRAM, see option records, trying to erase the configuration...

Unplug and power off of the PV220. Restart the PERC BIOS, make sure you're on the PERC external and clear configuration. Connect up to 220, power and restart the server, you should now get another set-match and should display disks.

  • Management Dell Powervault 220 s of Poweredge 2950

    Hi all

I am new to the forum and would be very happy for any advice you could offer.

I'm looking to re-purpose some old material for WDS. We have an older PE2950 I would use, as well as a Powervault 220 s that would be used for storing images.

Now, I know there are many messages from forum on this subject, but I feel that I may have a unique situation, since only add-in cards I have to interface with the PV are HP SC11Xe.

I guess my first question here is that will work? After installing the card, I can see readers in the PV during startup and they appear even in the management of the computer, but I can't do anything with the volume.

We are not looking to dump a lot of money in this server, because it is quite old. We are mainly looking to move away from a WDS VM running on a Mac Mini Server, and I thought this might be a better option.

We have an old server that was originally set to run the PV; a PE1850, but the specifications are not acceptable.

For what it's worth, the PV was originally created as a split volume.

    Hello, cameron.tropser.

First of all, I can say that the HP SC11Xe won't work with Dell Open Manage Server Administrator (OMSA). You have two options: boot in the BIOS HP controller and configure from there or use the controller inside the PE1850 (?).

If this was used originally with the PD1850, then the config is likely, always on this controller.

Beyond that, you won't be able to configure/manipulate volumes via OMSA.

    I hope it's useful.

  • Dell PowerVault MD3600i validation error - unable to update firmware - Data:

    Hello

I have the following problem when trying to upgrade the firmware version of 07.84.44.60 to 07.84.47.60 on my Dell PowerVault MD3600i.

Assistant firmware upgrade RAID controller module reports the following error

    • Data validation error: the storage Bay cannot be updated one or more host entries in the Module of the RAID 0 controller did not match those of the RAID 1 Controller Module. To resolve this issue, contact a technical support representative.

Can not find any similar problem on the net, if anyone here can help me please

There are a few things you can try. If you have configured multiple paths you can remove one of the controllers, wait 5 minutes and then put it back and try to do the update. Or you can try to clear the log of events and then update the Firmware.

Let me know how it goes and if you have any questions or concerns.

  • DELL PowerVault TL2000 by Ethernet?

    Hi all!

Need advice how connet DELL PowerVault TL2000 for PowerEdge M1000e via Ethernet?

    Is this possible?

If not what kind of s-module, we need?

    Hello maojan,

With the TL2000 using ethernet, you need the iSCSI bridge for the TL2000.  Once you have the bridge installed in the TL2000 and configured, you can use iSCSI to connect your M1000 in the TL2000 via iSCSI. The only other way to connect to the TL2000 is via SAS or FC if you have FC disks.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

  • How could I connect a DELL PowerVault MD3200 as extension of nested a DELL PowerVault MD3200.

I wonder if it is possible to connect a DELL PowerVault MD3200 as extension of nested a DELL PowerVault MD3200. If it is possible how I could do (wiring only?)?

Unfortunately this is not a configuration supported because you cannot connect to a controller module raid with another raid controller module... You must use a MD1200 behind the MD3200.

  • iSCSI and Fibre Channel on the Dell PowerVault MD3000 SAN shaerd with 2 physical servers

    Hi all

I'm doing new virtualization technologies work in my office for assistance:

2 x Dell PowerEDGE 2950 III each installed with iSCSI next accessing the SAN controller

    1 x Dell PowerVault MD3000 (10 x 300 GB 15 k rpm SAS)

    The

VMWare ESXi is installed in an internal USB to load 4 x virtual machines which is

under SOLARIS (using project, houses, SAMBA file server and)

Source code repository and compile the source code of the project Build

    Server too.)

5 x Windows Server 2003 which perform as Apache Tomcat application server.

    And

I wonder if it has performance benefits in the application of the

Shared SAN for these two physical server via iSCSI in contrast with

    Fiber Channel.

I am aware that CF is faster and more expensive, but in this case, I won t run a VM with DB server on it.

    must

I enter the path to have iSCSI or stick with the given FC

the SAN runs on 15 k rpm SAS used by 2 ESXi server.

Please let us know of a reflection regarding this configuration.

    Thank you

Usually, you take NIC 1 gb connections available on your host and configure them as such.

2 network cards go to the San, most of the time that it is actually two networks with different subnets.

    1 network card next LAN

1 network card for the management

We only use three network cards currently on our guests, 2 for San and the other for management and lan. We use two switches dedicated to dedicated networks dual iSCSI san. This allows to easily add additional hosts in the future.

You get to decide a bit, but the double san network is pretty much a given. You can do all this of course with the VLANs as well. We use the switches unmanaged yet in our Organization.

PS: Passing path recommended is to have completely isolated storage of the LAN network / network of the user.

  • Power supply Dell Vostro 220 questions

    Hello

We have a Dell Vostro 220, which has power problems.  He started intermittently but now it very rarely powers upward.

The green light in the back where the power cable goes in turns.

When I press the switch, it flashes orange once. Then the two fans start but stop after a second. Then they both start, less than a second. The power switch will Flash orange one more time. Then nothing. In the past, we could try once again and she would start, then it got worse and we need to repeat 10 or 20 times to make it work.  Now it seems that we could try all day and he would never start.

I opened it to the top. Disconnected and reconnected everything and try again - it worked fine. But the next day it turns on again.  So I opened, and even once and this time I changed the CMOS battery. I've start it 3 times now and it has worked well, and the user used for the rest of the day.

However, this morning, he refused to start up again. Same problem as before.

Is there anything else I could try?

    Thank you very much

    Peter.

  • PowerEdge 2950-second map PERC to connect to PowerVault 220 s

    Hello

I have a PowerEdge 2950 unit (Service Tag # NOTE from the ADMIN: maintain the label removed by privacy policy >) and PowerVault 220 s unit (Service Tag # NOTE from the ADMIN: maintain the label removed by privacy policy >).
I would like to know is possible to connect this PowerVault 220 s 2950? I'm going to put this 2950 Windows Server 2012.

Initially, this PE2950 came not with additional PERC card. If I want to add in the additional PERC card to connect to PV220s, it is possible to do?

    Hello, jindrax.

So, I'm not saying it's impossible, but it will get difficult. The PV220s works with a PERC 3 or PERC, which is NOT validated on the PE2950 4. The PE2950 is all the time, we started to switch to SAS, if I remember correctly. So it will be difficult at best to find a card to connect the PV220s.

Aside from that, using the PV220s with Windows 2012 isn't a good idea either. While windows may have a driver randomly for him, it will not match the firmware and will act "funky" to say the least.

In this case, honestly you'd be best suited for a large USB drive (4to) and be in a much better position to try to mesh the old technology of today.

  • Is it possible to connect two DELL PowerVault MD3200 single PowerEdge R610 Rack Server

We have the SQL cluster with two nodes (the two PowerEdge R610 Rack Server) connected to the DELL PowerVault MD3200. As we are short on space, the idea came to add additional DELL PowerVault MD3200 to the cluster. Is this possible?

    Hello, IPM.

Yes, you can add an another MD3200 to your R610 server & get both to work.  As you run lack of space, you can also simply add a MD1200 if just needing space as the MD1200 is cheaper than a MD3200.  The MD1200 will connect via your MD3200 sas & can provide you with the additional disk space if that's what you're looking for.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

We must change our Dell PowerVault LTO4-120 on a machine that could be a PC running Ubuntu or even a desktop apple computer running Mac os 10.4.

The problem is, how would it be possible to get a driver that works?

I know not how, but on Ubuntu, the pilot acknowledged in st0, but taken 32hours (!) to fill a bunch of 800 GB by using tar - cvf with a block size of 2048 k.

Does anyone have an idea on the alternative drivers or something?

  • Dell Vostro 220 does not turn on

Hello I have a Dell Vostro 220 desktop computer purchased in 2009.

I noticed yesterday that is not switching on.  When the power cord is plugged into the outlet, I see a green light on the back on the power supply (under the voltage 110V setting) but that's all.  By pressing the push button on the front, nothing, absolutely nothing happens.  No fan, no LED inside.

What can be wrong here? bad power supply or bad mother or push button simply bad diet?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    ndhaya

    It is a Vostro 220 Mini-Tower

No, the power supply fan does not work.

Power LED button is also DISABLED

No there are no beeps at all.

Apart from the green power light on the back near the power cord, there is nothing else...

    ndhaya

First, try to connect the power cord directly into another outlet and see if it makes a difference.

No difference, then replace the power supply with a unit of work to 'know '.

More generic standard ATX power supplies, with a 24-pin or 20 + power connector 4 - pin main motherboard, with or without the on/off switch, would be compatible with the Vostro 220 m

You should be able to buy a compatible power supply either a local computer or online store.
