InDesign freezes regularly

I use CS4 on Mac OS 10.5.8.  My computer is an IMac Intel DuoCore with 1 GB of Ram and 250 GB Hard Drive with 111 GB free.

On a regular basis while using InDesign, click on any menu item will trigger the spinning wheel of color and then the program crashes.  Sometimes I can get it to stop with force quit but generally the only way out that the situation is to do a closed hard, certainly not what I prefer to do.

I have checked the messages of "console" and find the error message following many times.

< error >: data parameter CGImageSourceCreateWithDataProvider sucks

I searched the internet without answer as to how it comes to InDesign.  I can find it in other programs but no InDesign.

Can someone give me a clue as to what is the cause and what should I do to fix it.

Thank you

Angela

I don't get this same freeze, but my first reaction by getting the weird behavior of gel is to delete the font cache files (there are a couple of utilities that do this, I use do Xplorer but I think that there is a standalone utility), then delete the preferences (when starting Indesign, hold down command-option-shift-control). And you can use the utility disk for "repair permissions on your disk.

Create a new brand of 'user' and see if the problem is there when you sign in as a new user (this creates all the new libraries, so if something is damaged it it will be fixed) but I didn't get to this measure to date.

Usually, something will fix it and then I don't worry about it until the next time...

  • Satellite A105 - 1/3 of the screen freezes regularly

I have a Satellite A105 and the lower part of the 1/3 of the screen freezes regularly, but the top 2/3 of the screen is perfectly fine.
After pressing the lower part of the screen or the border around the bottom of the screen for a while, it will go back to normal.
After the slightest movement, it will begin to go haywire again.
I was wondering if anyone knew if there is a problem with the screen or would it be the inverter?

The inverter provides simply for the backlight voltage, he can't knock out 1/3 of the image.

The problem is more likely to be the Module LCD or LCD Cable screen.

  • 2015.3 inDesign freezes after registration / open document

When I save even a simple document (for example, 1 page / 1-block of text) indesign freezes for a few minutes after I save the document on my desktop or somewhere else.

This also happens when I try to open a document.

Before saving/opening, I can very well work with Indesign

I already removed the preferences and did a complete re-install, but no luck.

    Running:

    10.11.4 OSX

    2015.3 inDesign / build 11.3.0.34

    Think I found the problem.

After the diagnostic reports in the console, I noticed that Indesign triggers the automount system and try to mount the shares in/etc/fstab. As an obsolete part of the fstab file, Indesign keeps trying to ride that will never succeed.

    Solution:

    Remove deprecated fstab sharing

Run 'sudo automount - c' to eliminate all information chached.

    Restart Indesign

  • 5.5 inDesign freezes during installation

My installation disc makes me want to start the installation and then freezes

on "initialization Installer." He did 5 times in the same place.

At running an Adobe Support Advisor--and found no problem.

Just got a new computer running Windows 7 Pro.

I was able to load up my old Adobe CS4 Web Premium with no problems.

Just bought InDesign CS 5.5 and assumed he would easily load on the last Windows OS.

Any suggestion would be great... Thank you.

    Hi Stephan,

You have other programs running during installation?

Try turning off the UAC (User Account Control) before installation.

  • FF 8 freezes regularly for about 5 minutes about 1 minute after start

I'm on a HP Pavilion DV7, running windows 7 Home Premium SP1, 64-bit, 4 GB of ram. It was also on this laptop with 7 FF. This also happens when I run in safe mode. I tried just start and not let my homepage (Google), and it still happens. Is not only FF that freezes, the grind of the whole machine to stop, and then after about 5 minutes of that Norton 360 tells me FF made a significant amount of read activity. I tried to run with disabled Norton, same result.

After the shot, everything returns to normal and ff works normally, until the next time I got close and restart ff, or the next time that I reboot and start to ff.

  • Safari freezes regularly

El Cap use for the day that it was released.  However, for these last months, the Safari has become more increasingly unstable.  It freezes often temporarily and then unlock.  Worse still, it freezes often completely to the point that my only option is to turn off the iMac.

I tried to delete all the data of the Web site.  I have repaired permissions.  No change.  I open the Console and when my most recent gel, I saw this repeated message of the dozens and dozens of times:

executeFetchRequest:error: a pull request must have an entity

I also noticed this message as well repeated a bit (but it will come back as my Mac couture still works):

ATTENTION: to access the X509Anchors obsolete.

    Any input is greatly appreciated.

    1. the present proceedings is a diagnostic test. It doesn't change anything for the better or worse and therefore, by itself, will not solve the problem. But with the help of the results of the tests, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.

The test works on OS X 10.8 ("Mountain Lion") and later versions. I do not recommend running it on older versions of Mac OS X. It will do no harm, but it will not do not much good.

Do not be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You make the tasks more complicated with the computer all the time.

    2. If you do not already have a current backup, please back up all the data before doing anything else. The backup is needed on the general principle, not because of what anyone in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you encounter any kind of problems with the computer, you can be more than the usual loss of data, if you follow these instructions or risk not.

There are ways to back up a computer that is not fully functional. Ask if you need advice.

3 here is instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it doesn't change anything. It does not send or receive data over the network. There is no to generate a report on the State of the computer human readable. This report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents for me or someone else.

You should ask yourself if you can believe me, and if it is safe to run a program at the request of a foreign national. In general, no, he's not sure, and I encourage it.

In this case, however, there are ways for you to decide if the program is safe without having to trust me. First of all, you can read it. Unlike an application that download you and click to start, it is transparent, anyone familiar with the code can check what it does.

You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of it have been posted on this site several times over a period of years. One of the million registered users to have read the script and set off the alarm if it was dangerous. Then I wouldn't be here now, and you would not be reading this message. See, e.g., this discussion.

However, if you cannot satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, do not follow them. Ask other solutions.

    4. here is a general summary of what you need to do, if you decide to go forward:

☞ Copy text from a particular web page (not this one) to the Clipboard.

☞ Paste into the window to another application.

☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.

☞ Stick the results, which will be copied automatically, in a response on this page.

These are not specific instructions; just a glimpse. The details are in parts 7 and 8 of this comment. The sequence is: copy, paste, wait and paste it again. You don't need to copy a second time.

    5. try to test in conditions that replicate the problem, to the extent possible. For example, if the computer is slow intermittently, run the test during a downturn.

You may have started up in safe mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works pretty well in normal mode to test run, restart as usual before running it. If you can test only in safe mode, this.

    6. If you have more than one user and a user is affected by the problem, and the user is not an administrator, and then run the test twice: once under the affected user and one administrator. The results can be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer, when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you are unable to log in as an administrator, verify that the user concerned. More personal Mac have only one user, and in this case this section does not apply. Don't log in as root.

7 load the linked web page (the site "Pastebin.") Press the combination of keys command + A to select all the text, then copy it to the Clipboard by pressing command-C.

    8. start the Terminal application integrated in one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first letters of his name ("Terminal") in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

Click anywhere in the Terminal window to activate it. Paste from the Clipboard into the window by pressing Command + V, then press return. The text that you pasted should disappear immediately.

    9. If you logged in as an administrator, you will be prompted for your login password. Nothing displayed when you type. You won't see the usual points instead of the characters typed. Make sure that caps lock is turned off. Type carefully, and then press return. You can get a warning to be careful. If you make three unsuccessful attempts to enter the password, the test is still running, but it will produce less information. If you do not know the password, or if you prefer not to enter, just press back three times at the password prompt. Yet once again, the script will run.

If the test takes much longer that usual to run because the computer is very slow, you can be prompted for your password a second time. The permission you grant by entering it will expire automatically after five minutes.

If you are not logged as an administrator, you will be prompted for a password. The test will run. It just will not do anything that requires administrator privileges.

    10. the test may take a few minutes to run, depending on the number of files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that is abnormally slow may take more time to run the test. During execution, a series of lines is displayed in the Terminal window like this:

        Test started
            Part 1 of 4 done at: … sec        …        Part 4 of 4 done at: … sec
The test results are on the Clipboard.
        Please close this window.

The intervals between the parties will not be exactly the same, but they give an approximate indication of progress.

Wait for the final message "Please close this window" appear - again, usually within a few minutes. If you don't see this message in about 30 minutes, the test probably won't be completed within a reasonable time. In this case, press the Ctrl + C key combination or the point command to stop it. Then go to the next step. You will have incomplete results, but still something.

In order to get results, the test should be allowed to perform or be stopped manually as shown above. If you close the window of the Terminal, while the test is still running, the partial results will not be saved.

    11. when the test is completed, or if you manually stopped, leaving the Terminal. The results have been saved to the Clipboard automatically. They do not appear in the Terminal window. Please do not copy from there. All you have to do is start a response to this comment and then paste it again by pressing Command-V.

At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words «Start time.» If you do not see that, but rather to see a mass of gibberish, you wait for the message "close this window". Please wait and try again.

If personal information, such as your name or e-mail address, appear in the results, make anonymous before posting. Usually it will be not necessary.

    12. in the validation of the results, you see an error message on the web page: "you have included content in your post that is not allowed", or "the message contains invalid characters." It's a bug in the software which manages this website. Thanks for posting the results of the tests on Pastebin, then post here a link to the page you created.

If you have an account on Pastebin, please do not select private in exposure menu to paste on the page, because no one else that you will be able to see it.

    13. When you are finished with the test, it is gone. There is nothing to uninstall or clean.

    14. This is a public forum and others can give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak for themselves, not for me. The test itself is harmless, but all that you can not be. For others who choose to run it, I do not recommend that you view the results of test on this Web site unless I ask.

  • Satellite P875-102 - touch pad / cursor freezes regularly for 2-3 sec

Very happy to get very new P75-102 Toshiba (Windows 7) - £1. 1 k - WAITED so it works well immediately the day 1 - from the box. Unfortunately, the cursor on a regular basis (either 5 - 6 times in a surf web minutes) hangs for 2 to 4 seconds. Everyone knows that with this very recent machine?

This has nothing to do with the speed / sensitivity settings - it is intermittent gel that makes use of the laptop really frustrating. The official troubleshooting says that the system could be busy - but I have nothing else running and the CPU usage is minimal, no surprise given the power to the computer. Help, please!

From my personal experience this could happen due to stressed CPU.
Even if you do not use a heavy performance, the NECK may be stressed due to the background processes that should be launched when the laptop starts
So I would recommend checking the processes in the process tab (CTRL + ALT + DELETE) Task Manager.
Here you can see which process stresses the CPU and can disable it if possible.

  • Adobe first CC freezes regularly

    MacBook Pro 15 "retina

Intel Core i7 to 2.2 GHz (Turbo Boost to 3.4 GHz)

    Intel Pro Iris graphics card

    16 GB RAM DDR3

Adobe first CC systematically freezes when you work on a variety of project files. I am editing with .mov, H.264 files from a disk USB 3.0 external and all 10-20 minutes, my preview window will freeze and the spinning wheel will appear. I tried to remove the previews, trashing preferences and record Adobe, etc., but to no avail. Often recommended for this solution is to disable the OpenCL GPU acceleration, but I do not see why I should run first to half of its full potential on a supposedly supported GPU, especially when I have to pay for a subscription to creative cloud each month.

I'm surprised that more people with problems are not kicking a bunch of stories, given the money you pay for the privilege to use these applications. Adobe, please get this sorted out or I find myself, unfortunately, to Final Cut.

If anyone has any suggestions, then of course please throw in your two cents.

    -Josh

I'm on windows and enough questions like this, when my sequence has the fake codec selected and between you film in the timeline panel. Make sure that you have selected the right setup for your sequences.

I just checked the sequence settings and can't see h.264 in editing as a framework for sequences. Maybe try and convert your videos in a first supported codec.

  • InDesign crashing regularly

I am trying to create a poster in InDesign, but InDesign keeps crashing. Screenshots of errors, in order, are attached. I had about 4-5 accidents per day, but they seem to become more frequent (I had 3 accidents in less than an hour before moving machines).

I thought it was a connectivity problem as I noticed that Microsoft Outlook lost sometimes connect briefly with InDesign crashed.

Our technicians have tried different network, new cables to network ports, new switches and I still have some issues. I'm the only person in my office due to these specific errors and issues with InDesign.

I went to another PC on the other side of the office, with a different network port & cable and a new installation of InDesign, but I just had my first fall with the same error messages while working on the same InDesign file.

I suspect that this may be related to coding in the SVG files, I used to create the linked .ai files that I read somewhere that an accumulation of encoding of linked files can cause problems. What I did with my linked files is downloaded openclipart.org SVG files (most have been created with Inkscape), then opened with Illustrator, converted to CMYK and saved as .ai. Sometimes, I edited the files a bit further before you save it (for example by adding some colors if the SVG is only black & white lineart), but that's about it.

Recompile the file InDesign via file > save under seems to make no difference.

Anyone knows a solution to this problem, or at least if it can be hardware or software related?

Hmmm... I didn't know you were using InDesign CS3... but the concept of the process of elimination could work even on both versions.

I don't remember if CS3 had the ability to control upstream. If so, it would be located at: menu window > output > preflight. In the Panel that appears, uncheck the option "On" >

Your last post leads me to believe also that it is a server problem. You work with this document on a server remote or connected (IE - not directly on your computer). Looks like you connect to the it starting from a SMB - or share on a PC server.

If so, check upstream it and move it to your local computer. Preflight it will bring together all the assets, so that you know that no matter what server disconnects will not affect it. You can always move it back to the server once you get your met delay.

    Good luck
