infected file ndis.sys deleted by AV. system cannot start in normal mode

Recently has been infected by the worm. I cleaned my system using AVAST! 5 using startup scan. After the cleaning, some system files have been marked as being infected and I sent them in quarantine. NDIS.sys was also one of the files including kernel.dll and the other two dll files I could not remember the exact names. Shortly after my system can start is no longer in normal mode. What should I do next from here? Should I try and replace the files quarantined or should I just reinstall my OS? Or there are other options I can try? My OS is XP Pro SP3. Laptop barans is ACER TravelMate 4150.

NDIS.sys probably wasn't a legitimate file. See the links below.

You say that your system may no longer boot into normal mode. That means he can start in safe mode? What happens when you try to start it in normal mode?

  • Satellite L300 - 16L: bootmgr image is corrupt. the system cannot start

Bootmgr image is corrupt. the system cannot start

    Why is this?

Have we lost all files etc on the laptop?

    Its a Toshiba L300 - 16L 'versatile Base '.

Any help would be great - thanks

    Wayne

Well, the system on the HARD drive seems to be corrupted.
Who knows why, but it happens sometimes, it s nothing unusual and, therefore, it s always recommended to backup the data always

The files are not lost, but you are not able to start the unit.

    What you can do?
Well, you can grab the laptop again.
By using the HARD drive recovery option (press F8, repair my computer, drive HARD recovery) or by using the recovery disk

But this will format the HARD drive and you will lose data.
If you want to get access to the data, I recommend booting of live CD WinPE and BartPE.

  • My 8 victory... infected with the virus cannot start in safe mode...

recently, my computer of windows 8 has a virus... (miss click an ad pop up and it's on the computer)

I already got Malewarebytes Anti Maleware and installed AVG, but this virus that bypassed and infected my computer. I tried the standard F8 during startup to go into safe mode and run my anti virus scanners, but apparently it does not work in windows 8. Some say SHIFT F8, that does not work either. Also any other method of setting up safe menu starting boot or mode does not work as it should connect on the desktop to go threw the settings and activate it for the next boot upward. This does not work for me since the virus I have apprently made my fall display driver, after I get my user password to start the desktop computer, so I don't see anything but the pointer of the mouse, everything is black. Y at - it another way to start in safe mode or trigger a recovery system or restore without actually being on the desktop?

    Why windows might change?

I already ordered a recovery disk as that seemed to be my only option. But the works of windows 8 way I will NEVER buy a computer with it again. Cannot start in safe mode and can't do the simplest task without being a great test. It's crazy. I thought that windows 8 was supposed to be simple and easy to use!

  • Computer does not start, it goes into the repair system or start windows normally.

I restarted my computer because my internet is blocked, and when he went straight to the windows repair. I chose 'Launch startup repair', but that just black flashed then went back to the same screen. So I chose to start windows normally, and restarted, it went back to the same thing. It retains, even in safe mode, etc. It's a Lenovo X 200 tablet, I got to the end of 2007.

If Safe Mode does not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html

Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.

It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.

    Hi Mark,
This problem occurs when your .exe file associations are broken. This is usually caused by malicious software that changes the default file associations in Windows. Follow these instructions to resolve this problem:
Download exeHelper from one of these two links: link 1, link 2 double-click exeHelper to run the fix. A black window should appear. Once the patch is finished, press any key to close.

  • Temporary file path is not valid. LR cannot start. Mac OS10.4.11 LR 2.7 Mac

Need help. Just go open LR and get this message. Then it closes. I ran DiskUtility and fixed permissions. Still no workie.

So what temporary file path is he referring? Where is he?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

All process (same GUI) will be an environment that he spent, and a part of this environment is the path to where the temporary space can be used by the application.

Somehow it is missing, which I've never heard of on OS X. I suspect it's a problem with how the Lightroom app package is installed, which means may there is one of these times a relocation can actually help. Move the old Lightroom app directory/packet in the Applications of the road first.

Things less invasive you can try first:

I guess you rebooted the system? Try cleaning the temporary directory. You should be able to find it by opening a Terminal and typing "echo $TMP".

    [Later]

Check that/var/tmp (you need to use the Terminal to access this folder) is cleaned on reboot. If this is not the case, make sure that there is and it is almost empty. You will probably not be able to delete anything there that you are not the owner, but we want to see is that it is not filled with hundreds or thousands of directories and files of higher level.

At this point, there is no need to delete. A new copy of Mac OS X can be installed directly over the old copy. This process replaces the components of Mac OS X on a file by file basis and adds missing ones, there will be no major throwing away what anyone, unless there is a power failure.

You have already run disk first aid.

Now use mode of recovery (command + R to start) to "Re-install Mac OS X. It should install the latest revision of the main version that you ran last.

Do a check with some malware malware, analysis of programs on the Windows computer.

You need to scan with all programs, because each program detects a different malicious program.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before scanning.

Alternatively, you can write a check for an infection rootkit TDSSKiller.

That following January 9 released carefully connected system cable powere and then put on the system started as usual with the message of welcome IN TOUCH WITH TOMORROW... TOSHIBA... BUT to my surprise he just remembered there for 2 minutes and then suddenly I heard two beeps... and then he showed me two errors fixed default drive... and error0260 system timer error error0200 then underneath saying press f1 to resume or f2 to enter setup but the problem now is that the keyboard does not work yet at all nothing works all crashes right there... pls

I beg u guyz help me pls pls
    THX

    Hi Timothy,.

Two beeps indicate that this notebook missed you during its initial loading of the POST and BIOS. This is the point where your system runs a self test on its connected devices before loading the operating system.

Without other diagnoses, it will be difficult to say exactly what may be the problem and you will need to return the device to a service that is authorized for the investigation under the guarantee.

  • Home CD not active - WinXP virtual system - cannot start from the CD to install WinXP

I'm new to this product, although I used vmware customer a while back on a Windows System.

    I have a P4-24 base system. G Intel chipset with new CD/DVD IDE burners/readers.

These are both on IDE1 and nothing is on IDE2

I have two drives SATA WD120G who are the active disks.

ESXi 3.5 installed OK and I can create a virtual machine using the VMware Infracstructure customer.

When I start the client machine I have CD/DVD host will start the Windows XP CD, but it fails

to do so. I tried the option to use the client CD started the power upward, but so far I can not install the WinXP operating system

on the virtual machine. I even unplugged of the DVD to limit the scope, but that made no difference.

It's almost as if the virtual machine cannot find the CD/DVD drive.

    Can someone suggest a resolution?

I never use physical media (do not say that it does not work) - I use the ISO. I find in situations like yours is to mount the iso for the virtual machine outside the parameters of the virtual machine - simplest method, you will see an option to connect to cd/dvd in the menu in the VI client.

Another thing - you will need to connect a flp buslogic image to a floppy drive so that the XP VM can see the buslogic controller (so you can see the hard drive) for installation of the operating system.

http://virtrix.blogspot.com/2007/09/vmware-installing-windows-xp-on-esx.html - this link also has a buslogic.

If you find that you don't have enough time to interact with the menu of the loader boot - set a delay at startup in the settings of the virtual machine to 5000ms - this will give you 5 seconds.

    I hope this helps.
