Infinite loop of "Failure to configure Windows updates" Windows 8

Hello

Recently, I completely reset my laptop Windows 8. After reset, I installed all the updates (there were about 90) and restart as prompted. However, now the PC is stuck in an infinite loop trying to configure the updates, or configure them, then reboot and try again.

Like I can't pass the configuration screens, I can not troubleshoot or do anything since the PC itself and it's very frustrating and I don't know what to do.

Hello

This problem might have occurred because of these reasons:

1 external.

2. bad Windows Update settings.

3. conflicts between third party applications.

I suggest to start the computer using safe mode and then attempt to perform the steps in the article.

Step 1: Start the computer in Mode safe.

Start settings for Windows (including safe mode)
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/Windows-startup-settings-safe-mode

Step 2: Try the steps outlined in the article.

"Configuration of the Windows updates failed. Restoration of the changes. Do not turn off your computer"error when you try to install Windows updates
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/949358/en-us

Note:

  1. When you perform the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.
  2. Please do not perform upgrade in-place or reinstalling Windows.
  3. After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow the "How to reset the computer to start as usual after a clean boot troubleshooting" section in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

  • Laptop Toshiba Windows 8 failure to configure the updates... Returning from endless loop

I bought a new laptop (Toshiba Satellite C55-A5281) with window 8.  Once through the new normal computer set up, I saw that there were 108 updates for Windows 8.  Yes, it's a hundred and eight!  OK, may as well do before loading anything on the new computer, right?

Hours and hours later... I was always in an infinite loop.  I've been through all this hit F8 once forcing them to close and restart upward... then made the deal of refreshing to try to fix.  Then, I started the whole update process on and got the same thing... Hours later, once again.  I actually let it run all night.  Same ugly loop once again.

Maybe doing 102 updates at the same time, it is not a good idea.  But I have no idea of those who to try to do first.  Or exactly how just a little at a time.  And if I have to do one at a time, and each takes hours, I can't live that long...

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  I knew before Windows 8 would be a challenge... but unfortunately it seems a lot harder than I expected.

I did the full restore... and then did a full reformat reset it all back at the factory.

Then I did some updates at once instead of 102 all at once.  It took forever, but seems to work.  Then I got a notice of update to Windows 8.1.  I did that as well (took hours) and everything seems to work now.  I have probably 20 hours of downloading (and wait) and the download time (and waiting) with this.  I hope it's over and I can go on living it normal.

  • Failure to configure Windows Update

    Hi rich,

Sorry to know the steps of troubleshooting force worked for you.

Please follow these steps and continue with the next steps to reset the Windows update components.

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Follow the steps below to install the selective Windows Update:

Follow these steps we will know what update is a problem and we will try to solve the problem on the basis of that.

    1. Go to control panel-> Administrative Tools-> Services and scrolled down to find the "Windows Update" service and stop it.
    2. Then restart again and go back to Windows Update, it will display all the current updates available. You must deselect all updates and select only the first two and install it, must be installed successfully (reboot required).
    3. After the reboot, chose two more and install. Then choose 5 updates and install them. That must be installed successfully (reboot required).
    4. The restart will take a long time. You can see "Configuring Windows updates" for about five minutes. After the restart, select the remaining current updates, including an update of the driver in option. They must install as well successfully (reboot required).

Hope this helps, get back to us if you need further assistance for Windows.

    This process keeps repeating.

Audit of the error in the log it gives 8007005 which seems to be a catch-all.

I managed uinstalled - and configured Windos - several updates without problem, so I don't see that I should have a problem of "permissions".

Someone give me a clue as how to deal with this issue?

    Thank you

    Hi Don,

    ·         You are the administrator of the computer?

This error can occur because of a bad permissions on a particular file or registry key because it is generally bound to the access denied message.

Method 1: First check if you are logged on as administrator on the computer. Once you have enabled this, refer to the below mentioned the thread that has a similar problem. (See the advice given by Kim - Support Engineer)

    Error 0 x 80070005 Windows update

Method 2: If this does not help also try to reset the Windows Update components and see if it helps. See the article below mentioned the same thing.

How to reset the Windows Update components?

Check if you can install the updates.

I would be grateful if you can provide us with the following information to help us better understand the issue.

    1. How do you reinstall Windows on your computer? Is it through disk recovery OEM or retail version of windows?

    3. In the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

  • My Dell Latitude Tablet is stuck on 'Failure to configure Windows updates from reinstatement of changes' (Windows 8)

It was stuck on this during about 3 hours and I desperately need to use... It is essentially new from today, as I had mail. I really don't understand why this is happening and I can't find a way to fix.

From what Ive seen in similar forums, that I'll post things that do not work in my situation.

    • I don't have any sort of keyboard or mouse for this tablet.
    • I tried to restart the flight button and button / stop
    • I took the battery.
    • I do not have a more 8 GB USB so I can't use a recovery.

Honestly, I'm so frustrated because I both want and need to use it for school... I don't have the time and money to run around to try to find a larger USB... at least not for a few days or a week. If no indication as to what is wrong and all the other options would be very appreciated.

  • HP Pavilion DV6: Windows update search in infinite loop - works is not in Windows 7

    Hello

I reinstalled a fresh copy of Windows 7 Premium Edition on a HP Pavilion DV6 laptop after changing the hard drive failed. My first attempt at the time. After installing all the drivers I could find on the site of HP, I was up and running, but done Windows Update always looking. I tried all the advice, suggestions and driver downloads, I read it, but nothing works. Windows Update Standalone Installer cycles constantly as well. Almost everything I download to fix this problems requires stand-alone Windows Installer for installation. Coincidentally, Windows Defender does not update either.  Can someone help this newbie? I appreciate your help.

  • Failure to configure the updates on Windows 8

Whenever I try to update my laptop windows8, it installs the updates, restart, fails to set them up and go back. I have the laptop plugged into the wall and the ethernet cable to ensure that there is no interruption in the diet or by internet. I'm kinda a waste since I can't go to 8.1 without having to install updates 1. I tried to go into the settings of update, but it fails to do so by using this too. What is McAfee? According to HP tech who helped shed some light on this for me

Right-click on the file, choose Properties, and select the appropriate compatibility mode that corresponds to that specific folder that you downloaded.

  • ATI2DVAG infinite loop on NEW pilots, but not on the old...

I get an ATI2DVAG infinite loop on my xp system AFTER update my drivers from AMD; If I uninstall the nine and go back to the 'old' everything will be fine and work properly. I've done three or four times, and the results are always the same; now, it's really bugging me...

Someone at - it an idea on why such a thing is happenning?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Francisco,.

It seems that the drivers that you install is contradictory as rolling back to previous drivers does not cause the issue. Recent driver update makes your computer unstable.

I suggest contacting the manufacturer of the computer or you can also contact support AMD to check if they have any suggestion on the same: http://support.amd.com/us/Pages/AMDSupportHub.aspx
