• Restore the essbase.sec file to another server

  Hi all
  
  I have restored several databases of our development server to another server.
  But can I just copy file of security on this server?
  
  My concern is that they have a different number of app/db, will be the work of security file?
  If that does not work, how can I recover the security of a given database file?

  Singlejoe,

  You will have problems if you do not correspond to the app/dbs on your target server.

  Assuming that your dev source server has several databases to the target, before copying, create a dummy apps/dbs on the target. Stop Essbase and save your Essbase.sec to be replaced. (Just-in-case copy to keep some security, filters, etc., you might have).

  If you have more / different apps/dbs on your target, I would like to archive them (text backup is complete, copy all relevant artifacts, etc.) and then delete. Then follow the above paragraph. The point is to make the app/db files exactly the same at Essbase.sec.

  Then copy on your Essbase.sec source to your target, remove the apps/dbs dummy and you should be good to go.

  pre version 11 you could open s file in any text editor and you can read the substitution variables. However, since version 11 s file is in a format not readable.

  Cannot open a .sec file in a readable format. It is binary. I remember not being able to open any version all the way back to 3.11.

  If it was not corrupted, you could dumpo file, but if it gets corrupted, so I doupt it will work

  We have updated the essbase.cfg and define the TRUE ENABLESWITCHTOBACKUPFILE but that didn't work.

  Also, we have renamed the file essbase.sec in essbase_bak.sec and restarted the service. still no luck.

  If security is assigned to the planning for any dimension/individual Member, then it flows to Essbase? This means that, if a user has special Planner access to hyperion memberin planning, it will be able to connect to Essbase and power access to the other dimenaions/members in essbase?

• Unable to start server Essbase?

  The message is: Fatal Error: invalid Index item in the security file.
  I can start the Service of Essbase in the Windows Service and it shows 'Hi', a second later, I refresh, it doesn't show began. I think that it is the corrupted file Essbase.sec, and I rename essbase.bak to essbase.sec, still does not. I don't have an old backup for the essbase.sec. Should I reinstall Essbase? Please advise, thank you!

  If the security file is damaged and you do not have a backup, you don't need to reinstall. You may lose all your however security information.
  First, rename the file essbase.sec
  Open a cmd window and type Essbase.exe you should have Essbase start first and ask us for more information. Enter the name of the Organization
  When asked to the user, put it in the admin id then the admin password. It should start to Essbase, but none of the applications will be acknowledged.
  Then start EAS and and click right ISO applications and select create application. A enter the names of applications that are located in the arborpath\Essbase\essbase\server\app folder.
  It should add applications.
  Recreate filters that you have and if you are running shared services try to synchronize users and groups.

• Essbase filter backup/restore

  Apologize if this has already been answered, but had a question about the filters you want to better understand how to restore...

  We are on 11.1.2.1 and take a nightly export of LCM of all applications and objects. I observe that the individual filters are under 'Security' of all the applications folder. We also export Essbase.SEC in a readable using Maxl text file. I know that filter info is stored in the. S file, but if something goes wrong and say, Filter1 of App1 is corrupted, are we supposed to review the security-readable text file and re-create the filter via Maxl under the procedure to "restore"?

  What is the purpose of the filter object in the backup of LCM?

  If you have a snippet of LCM of security filters, you should be able to import them, the usual problem with filters of LCM are they are not the best in their assignment, even if the user/group is correct in export, in any case, you have everything that you need to be able to restore and if it does not work Maxl is too.

  Question in the selection of Data Source as Essbase

  While creating the new repository in the administration tool by selecting the data source such as Essbase, the following error occurs.

  "Admintool cannot load driver Essbase. Please check the configuration.

  Brief description of our environment

  In our scenario, BI Server running under Linux and running in Windows administrative tool.

  The work done in the Windows Machine (administration tool)

  1. 1. set the Variable of environment PATH and ESSBASEPATH as 'C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\Essbase\EssbaseClient'
  2. Adding information ESSBASE to bi - init.cmd
     1. File located in "C:\Program Files\Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition Plus customer Tools\oraclebi\orahome\bifoundation\server\bin"
     2. (b) define as 'C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\ products\Essbase\EssbaseClient' ESSBASEPATH
     3. c. set the path as %ESSBASEPATH%\bin;%PATH%
     4. Save and close the file.

  The work done in Linux Server (BI)

  1. Change the .bash_profile to export values of the variables in the path and ESSBASEPATH,
     1. a. export ESSBASEPATH = / app/oracle/poet/Oracle_BI1/clents/epm/Essbase/EssbaseRTC
     2. b. export PATH =: $ESSBASEPATH/bin
  2. Adding information ESSBASE to bi - init.cmd
     1. a. file located to "/ app/oracle/poet/instances/instance1/bifoundation/OracleBIApplication/coreappplication/setup"
     2. Check the value of ESSBASEPATH and mentioned PATH as "/ app/oracle/poet/Oracle_BI1/clents/epm/Essbase/EssbaseRTC ' and: ${ESSBASEPATH} / bin respectively.
     3. If the value is inconsistent then to update the same as those mentioned above in the file (bi - init.cmd)
     4. Save and close the file.

  Keep "simple" things, you have a 64-bit Windows, just install a client of Essbase 64-bit...

  Go to delivery under the "Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System" product packaging, download only the 'EPM system release 11.X.X.X.0 Client Installers' and there inside, you have the Essbase client (it's a bit silly that you need to download a file of 2 GB for just the small Essbase client, but this is the best place I found to always get a good record). Install it, then point the mailed earlier to the right path environment variable.

  I did and it worked by himself in all my Windows 64-bit.

  Use of the 32-bit clients on 64 bit OS what you always end with questions because of the default path pointing 64-bit slots and so things are missing or you have a mix of 64 and 32-bit.

  (I guess that's not important if you choose 11.1.2.4, 11.1.2.2 or 11.1.2.3, they work I would say, but if I'm not mistaken the Essbase installed by OBIEE is more 11.1.2.2...) For you, it isn't. (2.4)

• Error starting Essbase 9.3.1

  Hi all

  While starting the Essbase 9.3.1 I get the below error. Earlier, installed and set up, while starting I get the below error.

  Fatal error: the part of the security file is missing

  There is no files such as essbase.bak or ESSBASE. BAK_postUPM or other related files in ARBORPATH/bin.  I have no backup of the essbase.sec file.

  Finally, I solved the problem.

  There is a little something while starting the service Essbase in version 9 of Hyperion, Hyperion Essbase installation, he created the setenvvariable.doc. I copied all the values of the environment and create new shell script to start the Essbase. It worked for me.

  It of really your choice if you stop Essbase or not, if you want to copy the files that have a lock on them and then put the database using archive and copy, if you copy not files that have a lock on them then once more your choice if you read only, by operating an export is that the database is automatically set read-only mode.

• Essbase server URL of the SSP sub-folder of application groups can not see...

  I installed successfully hyperion EPMA 11.1.2.3 on windows server 2008 R2. I can connect to all the components hyperion essbase except succussfully. While trying to connect to essbase by EAS it gives me below error.

  "Error: 103: error unexpected Essbase 1051293 Error: 1051293: connection fails due to invalid credentials".

  In shared services, I do not see essbase cluster while the other components are visible.

  Please suggest...

• Installation of multiple instances of Essbase on a single machine

  Dear gurus,

  I did the install vanilla of the costume of Hyperion (11.1.2.2) products on my machine (windows 2008 SP1, its a Virtual Machine) virtual machine (I installed Foundation, EAS and just Essbase)

  My first Essbase instance is running on default port 1423and I tried to configure the second instance of Essbase using port 1424 and all the donfiguration succeeded. I can see the 2nd service of essbase running at services.msc

  I followed the steps mentioned in the:

  My 1st instance is installed to: D:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1

  Now the problem is that I can add and connect 1st instance of Essbase (SERVERNAME:1423) using the administrator account in the environmental assessment.

  but when I try to add 2nd Instance of Essbase as SERVERNAME:1424 using the administrator account, it throws the following error:

  Can you please guide me what to do to access this 2nd Forum.

  (2) I can just copy the essbase.sec of 1st instance of 2nd instance?

  Can you please point me to a reference to have multiple independent instances of Essbase on the same machine?

  Do not copy the file s multiple instances.

  It seems that the 2nd day of the Essbase instance has not registered properly with Shared Services, you can try renaming the essbase.sec on the 2nd instance, erase the Essbase.log, resume Essbase, then check the Essbase.log to see if there are errors anyt'ing.

• Essbase 11.1.1.3 Server was stopped just after the start

  Hi experts,

  I have an Essbase server runs for years, 11.1.1.3 version.

  The sharing of hyperion and EAS service has been installed on a server (let's say, the server) and Essbase was on another (say Server B).

  Normally, I start the service essbase directly by the registered windows service starts (after HSS and EAS all started a server A).

  Last night the server crashed for an unknown reason and I can't start service Essbase successfully, the symptom is:

  After that I started the 'Hyperion Essbase Service' of the windows service console, the status showed "started."

  but after a few seconds, the word "Started" disappeared (which means the service stopped) after that I pressed F5 to refresh.

  I checked ESSBASE.log but there is no paper relating to this topic, everything seems fine.

  Can someone provide suggestions? Thank you.

  If none of the Essbase associated newspapers have errors in them and the Essbase process breaks down, if there is absolutely no error then I would probably look to the restoration of the Essbase.sec to until the accident occurred.
