Initial measurement

Impact of the original measure, on our select query: I create two tables with the same data. In a single table my initial extent is 10 MB and the other its 64 k when I perform a select query based on tables with a criterion for filtering based on the primary key, the table that is the original 64 k measure turn around the line in 1 second, while the other (10 MB) on takes 4 minutes. How can I interpret that? The version of DB is 11.2.0.1.0

    Hello

I found that some tables did not export because the initial scope have not been attributed. But the developer saying: he created all the tables by using the same command and it does not mention the storage parameter. He mentioned just the type of data, columns, constraints. Then, what can be the reason for some tables missing intial segments?

Yet once again, the data tables allocated to segments. So, is there chances that if the data in the table becomes zero, that is to say, if the tables are empty then they too will have allocated action and thus hinder import and export?

    Hello

I hope that your DB version is 11g.
Starting from 11 g, when you export, the empty tables not is not in the export file. Empty table, I mean a new table with the inserted data ever.
Initial extensions will not be affected until you put some data first in the table.

Once you have inserted data so even if you delete these extended data would always go and your table will be in the export file.

  • The initial change, next, pctincrease and a LOB segment

    Hi guys,.

I wonder if anyone can help understand me how these four parameters of work of a LOB, please.

When I try to change a LOB to the evolution of its parameter as:

ALTER TABLE TEST. T03 MOVE TABLESPACE "TBS_1" LOB (COL2)

STORE AS SECUREFILE (DISABLE online CHUNK STORAGE 5000 PCTVERSION 22 CACHE BED FILESYSTEM_LIKE_LOGGING STORAGE ( INITIAL 1024 NEXT 1111 PCTINCREASE 11))

    LOB ("COL2") AS BASICFILE STORE)

TABLESPACE "TBS_1" ENABLE STORAGE IN ROW CHUNK 8192 PCTVERSION 21

I'm confused about how these four parameters set to these values. Could someone help to figure this out, please?

an initial measure and the next step, and the piece of less than 1 block from Oracle is not sensible. The default Oracle block size is 8 k.

Also locally the minimum initial measure Managed Tablespace is 16 k, as each segment has a header block.

Also in LMT pctincrease is ignored.

  • System tablespace allocation how oracle determines the size of the measure

    Hello

It may be a silly question, but the I must request and obtain a few knowdge

Assume that the allocation_type tablespace is system so how oracle determines the initial measurement and size max measure?

Osama has provided useful links to the information you need. I'll just add with locally managed tablespace that the maximum number of spans is always unlimited even if you specify a value in the storage of declaration of establishment clause. Oracle does not take into account the value you provide and will with unlimited. I consider this unfortunate since in most cases, I know how large tables can reach and if the table extends beyond that point a developer made a mistake.

  • Size of the measure from 8i to 10g

    Hi all
I have a doubt about how Oracle will take care of the size measurement in case of export segments from a 8i database to a 10 g database.
If the initial size and the next measure in a 200 GB 80 MB in 8i db table, when I import it in a 10g tablespace created with the management of the space segment and LMT settings = (default) o and uniform size = 1 M, I realize that once the import is complete, the initial extended aura table = 1 MB, and the other parameters will be null , metric because initial and following the 8i dump file is going to be profane. Is this right? In addition, according to the fragmentation of the table, it's going to shrink a lot.

Can you guys comment how Oracle will take care of managing migration as in 8i for new features in 10g?

If you use the LMT with uniform extent sizes, and then when you specify an INITIAL measure that said Oracle the minimum desired initially allocated. So if the uniform extent size is 1 MB and you specify INITIAL = 8 M Oracle will initially provide eight degrees of 1 MB. The measure FOLLOWS size will be 1 MB regardless of what you specify for the NEXT. This should be easily verifiable on your end.

  • 13 "Macbook Pro retina heats up on the bridge and google maps satellite

    Hello!

    I have a 13 "Macbook Pro retina

I noticed that when using google satellite view maps (no matter if in Safari or another browser) my Mac begins to quickly heat up to 102 degrees Celsius (I use https://www.seense.com/menubarstats/ to measure the speed of the CPU temp and fan, but even without any application, you can easily feel the high temp and hear the blowing fan) the fan also starts to blow at maximum speed. When I left the site everything returns to normal.

Same thing happens when I discover the overpass in Maps.app. When I left the temperature goes down to normal.

I can compare the situation with my MacBook Air a years more and I have none of these problems in this regard. Strange that both Mac have only the Integrated GPU. No idea what may cause heat upward? Dealing with the satellite or view 3d demanding for rMBP but not for the older MBA buildings? Both on the latest version of the model

    Thank you!

    Hello there, villovsky.

Looks like you see increases in temperature and fan problems when using particularly intense applications on your MacBook Pro. The following Knowledge Base article offers up to large initial measures for troubleshooting:

Reset the management system (SCM) controller on your Mac.

    Before resetting the SMC

Reset the SMC only after trying all the other standard troubleshooting. Try each of the following steps in this order before resetting the SMC. Test the issue after performing each step of troubleshooting to see if the problem persists.

    1. Press Command-Option-ESC to force stop any application that is not responding.
    2. Put your Mac to sleep choosing sleep from the Apple menu. After that he went to sleep, to wake up the computer.
    3. Restart your Mac by selecting restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Stop your Mac by choosing stop from the Apple menu.
    5. If your Mac does not, forcing the Mac to stop by pressing and holding the button for 10 seconds. You will lose any unsaved in all open applications work.

If you are using a Mac laptop, which is the power or battery issues:

    1. Unplug the adapter from your Mac and the electrical outlet for a few seconds, then plug it back.
    2. Stop your Mac.
    3. Remove and reinsert the battery, if it is removable battery.
    4. Restart your Mac.

If the problem is still not resolved, you may need to reset the SMC. See indicators and the steps below.

Indicators that need to be reset your SMC

After you perform a standard troubleshooting, these symptoms can indicate that a SMC reset may be necessary:

    • The computer fans operate at high speed, even if the computer does not have a very heavy use and is properly ventilated.
    • The backlight on the keyboard not behave correctly on Macs with this feature.
    • The led State (SIL) not behave correctly on Macs with this feature.

  • Installing the server on VMware server ESXi

    Hello

Im trying to install esxi iso file in a VMware Server (in my laptop with 4 GB and windows 7 prof). I have created a virtual machine and tried to proceed with the installation. Initial measures follows and ends with Esc - repair-installation of the screen. In this screen im not control keystrokes at the keyboard and mouse n and cannot go any further. I found in the net that this method will work for purposes of practice. Can someone help me. ?

    Hello Pjo

For your question, I understand what you are trying to install ESXi on your laptop to test / learning object. I also suppose that you try ESXi 4. ESXi 4 requires 64-bit processor. Your laptop should also support virtualization. To make sure that your laptop supports virtualization, go to configuration and find what is called VT and then activate it if it is not yet enabled.

Once you have completed step abvoe, download & install the latest version of VMWare Workstation. Then create a new virtual machine, assign them to less than 2 GB of RAM, and then try again to install ESXi 4.

I believe that this will help you to start with. If you have any other questions feel free to write back to me. And if you think that this answer is correct, please mark correct. If in case it is not correct, but has been useful so mark has useful

Why this happens, I need to know the really bytes allocated, and how she develops when certain lines are inserted. Is it possible?

    Thank you
    F.

Whenever you create an oracle table / index affects certain blocks of numbers called initial measure. Insert new data begins to fill the space and once full oracle allocates the next measurement.

In your test case you enter only very few lines. Try 100000 inserted rows and check the SEGMENTS.

    also, you can query DBA_EXTENTS

I created the table with initial measurement, 4 GB.
I inserted a few lines and after half of the lines are deteled this table fragment it is unused space in the table.

How to COALESCE used blocks within this measure?

you don't need that. Oracle will use empty spaces (except APPEND insert). If you bulk insert all the time so what you need is RETRACTABLE, but these should only be done all the time. Search before you use it.

    Hi Chris,

    The error you get is:

ORA-60019: creating an initial measure of the size string in tablespace string of size measurement
Cause: The NAVIGATION segment Creation failed due to the size of the tablespace small measure.
Action: Create the tablespace with larger size and run the command again.

It seems that the minimum number of extensions, you should have a table using a LOB segment with navigation must be a minimum of 14, and as the wwv_mig_forms of the table contains a column of type BLOB, you'll have to make at least the extent of your tablespace size (14 * block_size) + 1, which should fix the problem. With the block of 32K of your tablespace, you will then need at least 449K in the part of the SCOPE of MANAGEMENT LOCAL SIZE UNIFORM the CREATE TABLESPACE command.

    Kind regards

The value default, COMPRESS = y, causes export table data to the Pavilion for the grouping in an initial measure during the import. If the extent sizes are large (for example, given the PCTINCREASE parameter), the allocated space will be larger than the space needed to store the data.

So it is not real data compression :-)

Question: Why do you make this reorganization?

  • What is compress = parameter y exp?

    Hi all

Can anyone shed light on compress = parameter to y. Is it really compresses the backup?

The value default, COMPRESS = y, causes export table data to the Pavilion for the grouping in an initial measure during the import. If the extent sizes are large (for example, given the PCTINCREASE parameter), the allocated space will be larger than the space needed to store the data.

If you specify COMPRESS = n, export uses the current settings of storage, including the values of the size of the initial step and next step. The values of the parameters may be the values specified in CREATE TABLE or ALTER TABLE statements, or the values changed by the database system. For example, the value size measurement to address NEXT can be modified if the table grows and the PCTINCREASE parameter is nonzero

    In analogy,.
Why you want to have all the books in the first tablet itself.
When it's OK to spread evenly across of all the shelves?
    You want to save space?
Have you seen that in order to have all the books is the first Tablet
balooned OR grown in the fat.
before in the same place there is to say... 5 shelves. you have now 2 shelves
Furthermore, you haven't saved any space (General Ledger cash)? N °

intead now you have a large INTIAL shelf.
(above is just for example. Do NOT INTREPRIT these literally).

    w.r.to oracle
Oracle calulates space currently allocated and used as size
the initial measurement of the object target.
    consider
    originally initial = 10 m = 5 m minextents = 6 next.
    the segment size = 10 + (5 * 5) = 35 m
you export it with compress = y.
    import it.
all extensions are merged into one.
    you will see that,
    initial = 35, next = 5 and minextents = 6.
    segmentsize = 35 + (5 * 5) = 60 m
Now probably your import may fail, you cannot limit a segment of 60 m.

  • what need parameter should be ignored for creating table in LMT

    Hi all

I have locally managed tablespace (LMT) with the type of ventilation SYSTEM and segment_space_management is AUTOMATIC. My database is Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi.

    I have for example:

    create table (ID)
    PCTFREE 5
    INITTRANS 2
    STORAGE (Initial...).

Oracle documnetation, I found that it is recommended to omit the storage clause when you use LMT.

I want to know, I do also omit PCTFREE 5, INITTRANS 2 of the create table statement?

    Thanks for any advice.

    Dear spur230,

Yes, you can omit these parameters either.

    Here's the answer to your question;

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B19306_01/server.102/b14231/tspaces.htm#sthref1153

    +"+
    * + Creating a locally managed Tablespace + *.

+ Create a locally managed tablespace by specifying IN clause of the CREATE TABLESPACE statement SCOPE MANAGEMENT. This is the default value for new permanent storage space, but you must specify the EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL clause if you want to specify the AUTOALLOCATE or the UNIFORM clause. You can have the database to manage extensions for you automatically with the clause AUTOALLOCATE (default), or you can specify that the tablespace is managed with uniform extents of a specific size (UNIFORM). +

+ If you plan the tablespace contains objects of various sizes, requiring many scopes with different sizes, then AUTOALLOCATE is the best choice. AUTOALLOCATE is also a good choice if it is not important for you to have a lot of control over the allocation of space and the deallocation, because it simplifies the management of the table space. A space may be wasted with this parameter, but the advantage of having the Oracle database manage your space probably outweigh this disadvantage. +

+ If you want exact control on unused space, and you can predict exactly the space to allocate for an object or objects and the number and size of extensions, and then UNIFORM is a good choice. This setting ensures that you will never have the unusable space in your tablespace. +

    * + When you do not explicitly specify the type of management, database Oracle determines management extended as follows: + *.

+ * _If the CREATE TABLESPACE statement omits the DEFAULT storage clause, then the database creates a locally managed tablespace autoallocated. _ +
+ * _If the CREATE TABLESPACE statement includes a default storage clause, then the database considers the following: _ +.
+ O _If you specified AS MINIMUM clause, the database evaluates if MEASURE MINIMUM values, INITIAL, FOLLOWING are equal, and the value for PCTINCREASE is 0. If so, the database creates a locally managed tablespace uniform with size = INITIAL measurement. If the parameters to MEASURE MINIMUM INITIAL and NEXT are not equal, otherwise PCTINCREASE is not 0, the database ignores storage extent parameters you specify and creates a locally managed tablespace autoallocated. _ +
+ o _If you have not specified a MEASURE MINIMUM clause, the database evaluates only if the values of storage are the same INITIAL and NEXT and PCTINCREASE is 0. If so, the tablespace is locally managed and uniform. Otherwise, the tablespace is locally managed and autoallocated. _ +

+ The following statement creates a managed tablespace locally named lmtbsb and specifies AUTOALLOCATE: +.

    + CREATE TABLESPACE lmtbsb DATAFILE ' / u02/oracle/data/lmtbsb01.dbf' SIZE 50 +.
+ EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL AUTOALLOCATE; +

+ AUTOALLOCATE causes tablespace system managed with a volume of minimum extent of 64K. +

+ The alternative to AUTOALLOCATE is UNIFORM. who says that the tablespace is managed with uniform size extents. You can specify the size of the uniform SIZE clause. If you omit the SIZE, the default size is 1 M. +

+ The following example creates a tablespace with uniform extents of 128 K. (In a database with 2 K blocks, each would amount to 64 blocks of data). Each measure 128K is represented by a bit in the bitmap extent for this file. +

    + CREATE TABLESPACE lmtbsb DATAFILE ' / u02/oracle/data/lmtbsb01.dbf' SIZE 50 +.
+ EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL UNIFORM SIZE 128K; +

+ You can not specify the storage, TEMPORARY or MEASURE MINIMUM clause by DEFAULT when you explicitly specify EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL. If you want to create a locally managed temporary tablespace, use the statement to CREATE a TEMPORARY TABLESPACE. +
    +"+

    Hope that helps.
