Initialization of the USB

I plugged a USB hard disk - it appears in as "Unknow" & "Not initialized" Disk Manager Receive has tried to initialize the drive - I get an error of logical disk manager "incorrect function".  The present reader 'uninitialized' properties as well.

How to initialize the drive?

Hi Grthomp,

Since it's the same thing on computer and different ports, then it might be a problem with the device itself.
However, you can try two steps.

1 rename the drive letter.
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/change-add-or-remove-a-drive-letter

2. save the data on the device and format it completely, and then try again.

Note When you format a partition, all data is removed from the partition.

If the problem persists then you need to contact the manufacturer and get the unit replaced.

Kind regards

I've been painting these forums looking for a solution to this problem.  I can connect to my Windows 7 Professional VM without problems via the secure SSL protocol, but after login on the USB tab at the top, it says "initialization of the office."

Now I have seen and read a lot of posts here, and I am sure that this has something to do with my router/firewall physics.  I put a Client computer on the same local network (inside the firewall) and it loads and works very well, complete with USB Redirection so I know that the actual configuration is fine.  However, when I do the same thing from a computer outside my firewall, it gets stuck.

After reading the other posts here, I forwarded your port 32111 to my server from view, and that did not solve the problem.  I even went as far as to put the server on DMZ and always the same result.

So to summarize-, it works very well from a computer on the same local network, but when coming out from the local network, it does not.

Ports, go to the server to display:

  • Installation of OS 8.6 or 9.2.1 via the USB port on the new world Mac?

    Hallo!

I have submitted a similar question pertaining to the installation of Mac OS X 10.1 - 10.3 via USB drive in the section "Mac OS X 10.3 and more", so if you saw that please also answer here.

Here's the situation: I have an iBook Clamshell G3 233 MHz 265 MB SRAM 16 MB of VRAM with 1xUSB port 1.1. I need an operating system installed and the only alternative for Mac OS 8.6/9.2 or OSX 10.1 - 10.3, who is eligible for this machine is PowerPC Linux, which I can only install a copy CLI (Command Line Interface only) of Ubuntu, I strongly prefer not to use. I tried all the methods of creation of the copy USB Installer, I mentioned in paragraph three of this post:install OS X 10.0 - 10.3 from USB on Mac New World? for Mac OS 8.6 and 9.2 disks as well. I have the installation disk OS 8 detail (8.6 green disk with large 8 and photo inside the loop at the bottom) as well as the installation of retail 9.2.1 universal disc (with the big orange 9 on the label), however the CD - R drive is completely shot, as mentioned in the above linked post it can read the disks, but it cannot initialize a boot drive and takes an hour to recognize / + 20 minutes to read a disk sector so the direct installation of disk option is completely.

While unlike the case in the post above, I can actually get my 9.2.1 installer USB disk copy to start, the copy of 8.6 installer refuses to even be recognized in the boot selection menu (Option at startup) and when I boot the 9.2.1 USB install, I get the notorious "the software of the system at boot drive only functions on the not so copied original media on another drive." message.

Once again using my CD player - R is out of the question. I did so that the image is "locked" before writing the USB disk, set permissions for image for 'r - r - r -' and formatted the drive as 'Mac OS Standard' (HFS) before writing, and I still got the message. Here are the best: I've used "ResEdit" on a separate Mac OS 9 installation to remove the 'xboo' resource that checks for the media type of the program "/ System/system files", copied the contents of the installation CD to a folder, replaced "/ System/system folders ' with the amended version, creates a new. Master image CDR CD size 665, 8 MB , the size of the original drive, moved the folder with the copy of the installation disk for the installation of OS 9 separate existing, blessed the 'File system' directory, moved back, filled with the contents of the disk image (including the program updated the 'system'), disassembled the new image, 'locked', set its permissions to "r - r - r" - and wrote directly to HFS format USB drive using sudo dd if = «» image path"of = / dev / 'USB drive number' fixed permission on the new USB installation disk, and he successfully started the installer to OS 9.2 modified in menu selection of boot HOWEVER, at the start of the poster Installer always the same message:" the software of the system at boot drive only functions on the original media, don't if copied on another drive. " Even if the function to manage this scenario has been removed, and all permissions are set up correctly.

I'm doing something wrong? It is even possible in ANY scenario to install Mac OS 8.6 or 9.2.1 installation disk backup direct, or via a USB disk/Flash Drive? Or do I have to buy a new iBook CD - R drive and a Torx T6 screwdriver to replace it just to reinstall Mac OS? Like I said before, we will find more details on the methods tried in the variation of Mac OS X this post link above, so for more information or overview Setup OS X with a USB drive instead of Mac OS just reply to this post. Any help or suggestions are appreciated, and I need an operating system installed on this machine outside the only command line Linux evil. Thank you!

Mac of this generation will only boot from the internal drive, CD or Firewire.  I just heard rumor a few PPC Macs can boot from USB and it is probably for some OSX version.

    Hello

During the POST (power on self-test) all parts laptop as RAM, motherboard (also of connected devices) is enabled.
If a problem (compatibility problems, etc.) would be detected during POST, then the laptop would not initialize correctly.

This mouse nano-receiver is unknown to me and I m not very well what s wrong with this unit, but I doubt that this problem is related to the laptop.
I guess that the laptop starts properly with other devices connected to the laptop. right? Well well, in such cases, there s no question cell phone but the 3rd unit affect the functionality of the laptop.

  • Interrupt the USB plug PC CVI

When I plug in the USB of my application on the PC, I can communicate with the USB using CVI8.5 and nor-visa link.

I use a method of querying to detect the USB plug. After detecting the USB plug, I initialize the USB link.

How can I generate an interrupt when I plug in the USB application, I need not the method of voting.

    Paul

    Hello Paul,

How good are you with the 'concept' USB?

If I understand correctly, then the problem is not located in CVI itself, but more related to access to USB devices in general.

A guide very useful tool that I myself used also (in a personal atmosphere) is the following:

    http://msdn.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/Windows/hardware/ff540174%28V=vs.85%29.aspx

You write your driver from scratch.

Is there a specific reason why you don't want mark?

Also something useful can be the following document.

The following document could also prove to be very useful:

    http://www.codeproject.com/articles/18062/detecting-USB-drive-removal-in-a-C-program

At a certain level, you should check "windows messages" that are produced by windows. The tutorial above should introduce some of these concepts.

  • HP Pavilion 14-b017cl: follow-up on creating and using the USB key recovery to win 8 after replacing the bad hard drive

I have 2 hp pavillion sleekbook model 14-b017cl'. I replaced the hard drive in my son after that she doesn't have the "optimized hard drive dst test '. I used my sleekbook work to create a USB stick recovery. I followed the instructions to use the recovery to Win 8 usb drive. When I started the laptop of my son, with the USB stick inserted, I got this message.

PXE - m0f: exit pxe rom

no bootable device-insert bootdisk and press a key

Flash player Flash when I put under tension. I rebooted, you press F2, conducted an audit on the new hard drive, happened.

Later, I inserted the recovery key in my laptop (that I used to create it) and it would not initialize to top. I checked the content to the flash drive and they seemed "Chargers", so it seems to be what I expected. It seems that the recovery USB STICK will not work if my own laptop dies. What I have to buy the HP flash drive, or I'm doing something wrong.

    Hi @gretschman7,

    Thank you for your query.

I understand you are trying to perform a recovery from a USB flash drive, but you get the error "pxe - m0f: exit pxe rom.

"no bootable device-insert bootdisk and press any".  You check the recovery media on your laptop as it is the same model and it seems fine.

Looks like you may need to change the boot sequence. Here is a link to HP - performing a recovery system (Windows 8) HP computers that will help you.   Here is a link to a YouTube video which can also help:.  Performing a recovery of HP system on a laptop HP with Windows 8.

    Hello

There may be a problem with the drive, the USB case or even the wiring.

Also be sure to check with the help of the external USB adapter.

  • The initialization of the external hard drive

I don't see the external hard drive, WD450AA, in an enclosure closed when I look in the directories of the computer, but I can see it under "Disk management" in the management of the computer.  This drive came a Compac and still has XP on it.  I have files on what I would like to copy.  It is said that it is "not initialized".  When I right click to initialize, it will finally tell me that the "device is not ready".  The rider on the external hard drive is set to 'Master '.  I tried 'Slave' and 'Cable Select' without success.  I also checked that all the drivers are updated for my hade 6700Y PC with Vista Home Premium.

To see if the problem is domething on the computrer rather than the HD or its enclosure; try to connect the player to the USB port on a different computer.

When I plug my iPhone USB port 7 more in my car (15 Jeep Grand Cherokee), the artist/song/podcast information appears on the screen, but the sound plays through the speakers of the phone.  I have confirmed that my settings are all the same as they were on my 6s, who played without any problems via the USB connection.  Bluetooth streaming works fine - no problems at all.  Any ideas, or is this a problem similar to that people have with CarPlay?

Welcome to Apple Support communities, kevo.mac!

  • MacBook retina cannot find the USB hard drive when it is plugged again

    Hello world

I have a MacBook retina 2015 computers and a hard drive WD elements USB3 that I use as a Time Machine backup when they travel. The drive is plugged into the USB - C through one of the Apple dongles and when I first start the computer, the USB is mounted and that it appears on the desktop. He does everything very well.

When I want to take the machine away, I eject it, wait for the secure message and then physically disconnect the drive. However, when I go back and reconnect the drive, the Mac did not see it. The reader will be able as the light comes on and I can hear it turn. Just, it is not mount and is completely invisible for MacOS.

I checked all connections, even used another dongle - no luck. A disconnect does not set, and I tried to reset the NVRAM. So far, the only solution is to reboot the Mac, afterwards the player reappears - at least until I need to unplug it again.

Anyone got any ideas what is underway and if there is a fix?

    Thank you very much

    Mike.

    Hello, Mike Richards2,.

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple!

This is I think understand that you are not able to see an external hard drive when it is ejected, and then reconnect the computer.  I have some suggestions that I hope will help you.

It is important to try to isolate what is responsible for this.  The first thing to do to help isolate what is causing the problem is to start the computer in what is called Safe Mode and see if the problem persists.

    Start in safe mode:

    1. Choose the Apple menu > shut down.
    2. After your Mac stops, wait 10 seconds, then press the power button.
    3. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.
You must press the SHIFT key as soon as possible once you hear the startup tone, but not before.
    4. Release the SHIFT key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator.

OS X El Capitan: start in safe mode

Once the computer is running in safe mode, see if you can duplicate the issue.  If the problem does not appear, go ahead and try to reboot normally again.  If the problem has disappeared, it may have been caused by a problem of file or directory of cache fixed by booting in safe mode.

If the question comes up, you'll want to check the login items.  Follow these instructions to remove the connection:

OS X El Capitan: If you think you have incompatible connection points

Remove the connection, restart the computer and see if the problem persists.

    Have a great day!

If you are anywhere near an Apple Store, I would suggest bringing your MBP to and asking to help. For USB, you need to partition and format to allow to boot on a Mac, what Windows can not do. Then either create a bootable installer or install OS X on USB and then copy the installer it, boot from it and run the installer with the SSD as a target.
