• Why the input file dialog box prompt when I have to attach to a device?

  For my project I need to move a robot 3 axis from a list of coordinates set to be cut / draw a picture. The only way I can thnk to do this is to read the coordinates of a spreadsheet and calendar to read the details and send information to straight line move function (Softmotion).

  The problem occurs when I try to launch the program when it is connected to devices (motors). The line of file dialog is no longer present and 43 error pops up immediately.   The cRIO running the operating system time LabVIEW Real-time.  The RT operating system doesn't have a user interface and therefore no dialog box.  You must specify the file in a different way, like sending an order by file path inside via TCP or published network of shared Variables.

  1. place the Express VI "Prompt the user for input" on a comic book

  2. set up the inputs you want, IE. text of two entries button "User" and "Password" and an OK and cancel.

  3. click OK to complete the configuration

  4 right click the Express VI and select 'display the front panel '.   Confirm that you want to convert a Subvi

  5. right click on the string of password control and set the "password."

  6. (optional) with the right button of the Express VI on the diagram and choose "display as icon".

  Now you have a Subvi, which will serve as a password dialog box.

  I tried searching this question for half an hour, but for LabVIEW, "dialog" is practically a stopword (too common).  Is it possible to change the border or background of a dialog box for a button or two buttons three buttons, so that we find on a wall crowded, which can cover two or three screens?

  The short answer is that you have no control over the dialogues of button 1 or 2 native. I think the key 3 is a VI vi.lib who you might Save as and then customize.

  The best way is to use a custom VI which plays the role of a dialog box. If he opens up endless possibilities for the color, size, positioning, guests, inputs and outputs...

  I recently migrated from LV2011 to LV2012 and I have a problem with the dialog file Express vi. It seems, that in LV2012 the Windows dialog box that appears after invoking the file dialog box, adjust the default name to 14 characters (or rather the chain moves to the left so the first x characters are hidden). Please see screenshot attached screen and VI. It's OK in LV2011 (have tested the same code yesterday on another PC with LV2011). Is there a solution or the solution?   Your VI not exactly help me with my code, but it helped me to find the path . Unfortunately, when I used your VI, the behavior was exactly the same as with the file dialog box. But I noticed that it works only when I select 'create' to the function input terminal (with "create or replace" or something else I've known the cutting chain).

  Then I tried to override the setting of file express VI dialog box of 'New or existing' on 'New' with this setting, the file dialog box works very well (and there seems to be no difference between 'New or existing' and 'New').

  I am trying to create an entry 'Interrogate the user' custom, where the entry dialog box will always be displayed default value when the VI is called. I have a main VI, calling an updated updated him 'interrogate the user' VI. Below the code is changed by the series LV questioning the user.   Just use the wire of the error so that it comes out the reset node and goes into the node value when you set the value.  It would be much more simple and you wouldn't need a sequence structure.

• Setting position of the dialog box

  I'll call the dialog function a simple button on the palette of the dialog box.  When running, the dialog box always appears in the center of the VI window, regardless of where the VI window.  The dialog box covers indicatorsthat, the user should see.

  Other that to move the indicators on the front panel, is there something that can be done to move the dialog box to be perhaps outside the front window?  I see no setting for a position of dialog.

  I know that I can always create a Subvi as a dialog box and define the position of the window, but I was wondering if the primitive location of Labview could be changed.

  What I did when I ran across something like this, it is to carry the message to display to the express VI user and right-click and select everything that the option is called to make a normal VI. Then you can dig in and copy the source code or save as and make a copy of change needed. In this way, you keep all the existing resize based on the input text if a message is displayed, etc.. I think that this VI dressed just the primitive dialogues, if you have a lot more flexibility

  I wish I had a pop-up dialog box that shows a picture with a caption and allow an operator to click 'OK' or 'Cancel '.

  This was done before or are at - there alternatives? I thought to have two separate pop ups, but this would not also be treated for a definitive solution.

• Windows 7 Home Premium - cannot change the user name in the authentication dialog box

  I was hoping someone might be able to answer a question on how to get a computer running Windows 7 Home Premium to display both the username and password fields when attempting to authenticate on another Windows computer.

  Here's the situation: allow us that the leaders and other members of the staff allowed our Organization to establish a VPN connection to our corporate network (via Fortinet Forticlient, for what it's worth.)  Once the VPN connection is established, on the remote computer, the user must be able to access the UNC path to our file (\\servername\share) server.

  Because the remote user has not yet authenticated on the domain Active Directory of business, a dialog box should appear to the user input a user name and password.  Enter the user name (domain\username) and password and share should open, and the user must then be able to access the files in the share.

  I (and several other members of the staff) have been using this method successfully to access files via the VPN connection, and it works very well.  However, it does not work whenever the President of the company will connect to the VPN from his computer at home.

  Whenever the President connects the VPN and attempts to access the UNC path, he reports that the dialog box which appears on his computer at home has only one field for a password; the user name field appears to be on his local user account, and it doesn't have the ability to change.  (I have him asked if there is an option 'use authentication information', and he declares that there is not just a dialog box with a single field, the field of password.)

  The President is running Windows 7 Home Premium on his computer at home, so I thought that the problem could be because he was running this edition of Windows.  However, I have installed VPN client and test the connection on the server share file using the computer of my wife, who is also running Windows 7 Home Premium, and I received the two fields as expected authentication dialog box and has been able to authenticate to the domain successfully and open files from the share with no problems.

  Does anyone have recommendations on what I can try to allow the President to authenticate successfully to our server share?  I am confused, and it is eager to be able to get remote access to files on his home computer.

• Contextual dialog box before you call network - not in the EXPECTED order

  In my application, I would like to display a dialog box, while the application is retrieving data from a web server.  What I find is that the dialog box is not displayed until the data recovery is complete.  Don't know what I'm doing wrong, but here are my code snippets.  Suggestions are appreciated.

  I want to see is a blank screen with a pop - up dialog box indicating that the data is "Loading"... ", while imageScreen.getImage () is executed (I voluntarily added latency in my HTTP response to simulate the network latency).  But instead, I see that the application remains on the screen (home screen), while the data are read.  Once the data is extracted, the new screen (ImageScreen) is displayed and the dialog box opens for a fraction of a second.

  It's because you make blocking network operation of e/s on the event thread (aka user interface thread). The getImage method is called on the thread of the event, this method calls the blocking network i/o operation. After processing the event of the user interface that caused the getImage method is called, the event thread starts processing the next events, which tells the OS to display your popup. This, obvsiouly, doesn't happen until GetImage ends.

  What GetImage should probably do is network IO unloading in another thread (for example, starting a new thread).

  On a Windows 7 Professional machine, whenever the dialog asking me if I want to allow changes, the dialog box will not accept any input at all.  Count it freezes unless I have call the Task Manager and terminate the running program that awaits a response that I can't give him.
