Inspiron 15 (3521) Wireless 'limited'... but only in some places!

I spent days trying to solve this problem on this laptop. I bought it as a Christmas gift for my son, to see that he had a problem with wifi connectivity. What is crazy is that he connects perfectly to my home router and will link perfectly with two coffee shops/bakeries different, that I used for the test yesterday. But a local Starbucks and my place of work son (who is also a public hotspot) it shows only a "limited" connection, and you get no Internet access. I was also told that he could see and connect to his iPhone in the mode of 'hotspot' or whatever, but could not access the Internet through that either.

Basics: Inspiron 15 (3421), Windows 8 x 64 clean install, as well as all current Dell (from the Dell site) pilots.

FWIW, I trained as a long tech with computers and laptops, so I have no problem get on and check or reset things. As I said, it has all the latest drivers Dell for everything on it, including the most recent (as of today ' hui) wireless pilot of 1704. Also, I read several messages of the forum by other similar problems, so I've seen many things suggested trying to fix wifi connectivity issues (set it to maximum performance, do not let the system turn off the power, etc.). I check always positions for other ideas, but it is frustrating having to work here at home and need to run up to a Starbucks to see if it is fixed or still flaky.

Despite this, it seems to me that proof that it connects perfectly to some hotspot routers and my AT & T Home wifi router makes it quite clear that the material is fine. He sees all routers for hotspot and lists their names and it can / connect and obtain an IP (checked via "ipconfig/all"). So I think that the cell/wlan computer hardware is functional, but there is something wrong with the drivers or some parameter that is on or off, or incorrectly, which simply communicates properly with some hotspot routers or configurations... as the "Google Starbucks' in the street hotspot generic.

I think now that Dell must have a very good idea what is the problem, even if they are not widely publicize for some reason any. But I would like to know what could do this thing not to connect to some very public hotspot routers and be just fine to connect to others. Get that something in the laptop that makes too strict or more specific, such as maybe the older routers do not work.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you...

I can certainly understand the frustration. It is clear to me, after a week of trying to figure out what not to everyone connection problem was the same as mine, but I don't think that what I found was something that should have been to the top of the list of troubleshooting steps. It was a thing of hands down which would prevent all internet connectivity in certain circumstances... but would work in other... and is not obvious to most people - especially considering the info below:

Tonight that I went back to a different s Starbuck to check that she was now working to each of them. At this Starbuck - which I had been to before - I've always had "limited" connectivity And here, the IP4 network setting was still defective 192.168.1.254 entered DNS, check the box "use the following DNS server address", if I know that I had deleted because things were now works in the other Starbuck. I removed it, but when I returned and reconnected still wouldn't connect... and the DNS entry seems to have made their reappearance. I tried to connect and reconnect, but it would not go beyond limited connectivity.  Then it hit me...

What I suspect now could be a problem is that if you never tried to connect to the router to a place, and either remembered or choose "auto-connect", it must be store the parameters of this particular network/wi-fi connection. It seems logical in hindsight, but it did not occurred to me that each wi - fi connection you connect to (Starbucks... Bookstore... etc.) can save some network attributes you had put there at the beginning and if they're wrong, you're, well, dazed and confused and that's an understatement. I think that's why my faulty DNS entry was always there for this place.

So, I finally completely deleted the connection for this Starbucks (i.e. choose "forget this network" in the list of wi - fi) and let it be redétectés cleanly. Now when I chose to connect... bingo! Obtained through the T & C page Starbuck and may finally authenticate and go.

To reiterate my experience: I had tried all the changes of 'Advanced' settings that so many Dell ' Rockstars said everyone to change - I changed the power settings, strict H, 802. 11 b, 2300, HAND, to THE aggressive, more broad compatibility, blah, blah... changed back, back again. I reinstalled the drivers, drivers of old Win 7 lots borrowed and even tried a few odd Broadcom drivers. Not one of these things makes no difference, but not a rockstar all be suggested that you do not have a wrong DNS server IP in there.
(Fwiw... I finally settle on the driver WLAN 1708, who has worked and is running in there now, although I think the original pilot of 1704 probably worked all along.)

The steps:
1) connect to the router showing 'limited' connectivity... then...
(2) right click on the icon of wi - fi in the Windows status bar (next to the battery icon) and choose "Open Network and Sharing Center.
3) double-click the name of the wi - fi on the right (in blue, next to the Green wi - fi bars bit.)
4) click 'properties '...
(4) scroll down and double-click "Internet Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) connection
(5) at the bottom, select "'Obtain DNS server address automatically'... click on 'OK' and you're done.

You have probably been disconnected anyway, but better to just 'forget this network' for this connection and let it re - detect and reconnect from scratch. Worked for me and I can now connect everywhere.

Good luck...

I tried to follow some of the precedents on this issue, but I'm still not able to overcome this bug. I have quite a few problems with a small white bar foot on my site. However, the problem arises in some internet browsers or if you use Windows instead of Mac.

  • Wireless slow on Inspiron 15-3521 Windows 8

New on the Dell Community Forum. Seen 3 other messages, but no solutions. My problem is not with WIFI Disconnection, but simply its slow as molasses. It's like watching paint dry!

In desperation, I connected via Ethernet cable to my Netgear router and wow, I had the speed to which I expect to a computer. I know that probably the speed will be faster on Ethernet, but wireless speed must always be near somewhere! The other day I tried to reinstall software and the company finally asked me to recall once my computer can communicate faster. Now, I could probably do this call as long as the Ethernet cable is plugged! I don't have to do!

If anyone out there has had the problem with the Wi - Fi connection slow and has found a solution, please let me know. I'd appreciate any comments you may have!  Thanks - Rick

Todd - just for my slow wireless on my Dell Inspiron 15 3521 tracking, I was on the laptop for a few hours this morning and speeds seem better, but not all that satisfying. I had found an old thread with some suggested parameters of the wireless card by I assume a representative Dell, SAHARSH K? The thread that responded to was a matter of the disconnect wireless. Although my question was to simply slow reaction speeds the wireless, I decided to make the changes that he suggested to see if that might help my case! It worked and I am satisfied with the wireless speed, what I'm getting now.

WIFI problem with Inspiron 15 3521 by Saty on 16/03/13. Once again, SAHARSH K offered its settings recommended on this subject on 19/10/13. Anyone with slow speeds wireless on their Inspiron 15 laptop may benefit from these changes to the network card settings. I replied to this thread to the end rental all know what exceptions I found during my changes!

  • Unable to connect to wireless internet; can only connect to the network, saying "Local only" or "limited connectivity".

I have problems to connect to any wireless internet - home, library, coffee shops.  He used to work, began to get in trouble (i.e. could not connect sometimes to the diner, but works in the library) and now does not connect to internet AT ALL wireless.

Only connects to the network saying "local only".  And I'm lucky even get that much.  Furthermore, I don't know if it's a router problem or what, but it does not even accept the password for my home network (my boyfriend has no problem on the internet with Windows 7 and the current router password).

I use a HP G60 laptop (maybe?), I don't remember the model exactly.  Windows Vista.  I am frustrated beyond belief.  I took the computer to Best Buy and the man suggested that contact Microsoft because, in his own words, "this seems to be a very common problem with the adapter wireless in Windows Vista".

In summary: is it a hardware or a software problem?  It seems to be a software problem that can have an impact on the material.  Nevertheless, what can I do to fix this?  Y at - it a software update, I need to try for my wireless card?

This computer is not yet a year old, and already I am unable to use it for the internet.  Not very well I plug my ethernet cable router wireless in the library.  I bought a laptop for a reason, but it is on track to achieve more like a desktop.  Very disappointing.

    Someone, please help!

    Hello

When the man from BestBuy, fortunately for us technology is not a cleaning product, there is no way of knowing if someone puts his hand on it and knowing what is wrong rather than moving oral reprimand...

First step, log on to the HP support and download the latest drivers for your wireless card.

The HPG60 is a very good phone but its wireless card has problems with old drivers.

In which case it's a hardware problem, contact HP support.

In general, you can use this process to find out what's wrong with the wireless.

Most laptops have a physical switch for the wireless card. Read the manual of the computer and make sure that the wireless adapter is on.

Check the Device Manager for the wireless card valid entry.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_dm.jpg

If there is no valid entry, remove any entry from fake and re - install the drivers for the wireless card.

Check network connections to make sure that you have a network icon/entry wireless connection, and that the properties of the icon (right-click on the icon) are correctly configured with the TCP/IPv4 protocol in the properties of network connections.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_connection_tcp.jpg

Make sure that if there is Wireless Utility a utility vendor is not running with the native Windows wireless utility.

Make sure you firewall No. preventing / blocks wireless components to join the network.

Above everything is OK and it connects to the wireless router. Log in from any computer which is, or can be connected to the router with a wire wireless, disable wireless security, make sure that the wireless streaming is enabled and try to connect with no. wireless security.

When the work turns on the Wireless security.

Note * people sometimes make mistakes in writing and retype the password for security.

Another way is to copy in the menu of the router and then paste it when asked of the wireless card.

    --------------------------------------------------

I really checked and configured every thing and it doesn't work.

Software firewall application that is not configured to allow local traffic (between the computer and the router is also a possible problem.
some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled). If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic. If the 3rd party software is uninstalled, or disables, make sure Windows native firewall is active .

    Hello community,

I have a problem with Windows Media Player 12.0.7061 when I try to listen to music through my home network Windows 7.  Windows Media Player has no problem playing the media all types of files locally on the Windows 7 system.  On my home network, .wma files play well through the (Pioneer) wireless speaker, but .mp3 and .mp4 files only play for the first ~ 5 seconds and then the audio stops.  If I wait long enough, Windows Media Player will skip to the next song and continue to play the .wma file.

Is this a problem of DRM?  My home wireless network is too slow to allow .mp3 or .mp4 fully transmit the wireless speaker?

  • Bluetooth not working not not for Inspiron 15 3521

Bluetooth doesn't work is not on my new Inspiron 15 3521. Setting up the system - Windows 7 64 bit.

I put driver from Dell support, but always the same problem. He goes in search mode and nothing else. Cannot detect the laptop bluetooth (phone) device. Can anyone help?

    Hello

    I have the same device too, i.e. inspiron 15 3521. 8.1 Windows 64-bit.

The bluetooth stopped working after Windows Update and update the drivers were not useful. It gave the error: activate Bluetooth using the wireless switch. For a year or two, I forgot that Bluetooth still existed in my camera. I look at the pathetic for Dell personal here, answers in this forum, was not intended.

If so many people are facing this problem. I guess that only 10% of them posted in this forum. Dell has not taken this issue seriously.

Well, now that I have found the SOLUTION. Bluetooth now works like a charm.

    PROCESS:

    1. check the version of the hardware (1703 or 1704 or 1705) bluetooth on your device. Two ways to check:

    a. press "ctrl + x". "In the menu that is displayed, select Device Manager. Click on "Bluetooth." The is drop-down menu. Bluetooth hardware name now. For example, "Bluetooth of Dell Wireless 1705. "Now you know the bluetooth is ' 1705.

    b. visit the Dell Technical Support Web site. Enter your "Service tag". Select "system configuration". Select "Components" drop-down menu. Search for bluetooth. Note the version of the bluetooth hardware. (Note: press 'ctrl + f' you don't find anything on the Web page.)

2 visit the support technology guide.

    3. Enter "service tag", or select your laptop model.

    4. go in "drivers and downloads".

    5. Select 'Network' Drop-down.

    6. what you need is "without wireless and bluetooth driver". There are two drivers available for this purpose. Since you know your Bluetooth hardware Version (1703 / 1704 / 1705), select the selection. (Note: those who have a (bluetooth 1704 there are two pilots available, if one does not try another.) To do this, click on "other Versions" dropdown, under the head "Dell Wireless 1704 WiFi + Bluetooth Driver.

    7 download the appropriate driver.

    8. install.

    9 make peace.

  • No microphone on Dell Inspiron 15 3521

Hey, I have the Inspiron 15 3521 with windows 8.1 and it does not recognize the internal mic.

For example when I go to the "speech recognition" and press "Set Up Microphone" I get 3 Options "Micro helmet", 'Desktop Microphone' and 'Other' rather than their work.

I tried to reinstall the drivers and updating the system but nothing works.

    Help, please.

Hi.I recently came across this problem. In my case, there was a small piece of rubber protecting the mic only slightly slipped and was covering the microphone. Just lift the cover from the top of the screen and remove the rubber or paste it again into the correct position. It is located to the left of the webcam.

  • Restore using the recovery disks on Inspiron 15 3521 supplied with Windows 8 Pro. Question on the recovery partition.

I created by the user recovery disks.  I created them the day I got the computer and he made three of them.  My brother has deleted my recovery partition just now.  My question is, if I resumed my Inspiron 15 3521 using three recovery disks that I created, be it recreate the recovery partition in the process?   I just need an answer to this question, not responses indicating that, if I have the disks, I don't need the recovery partition, why would I want the recovery partition if I have the drive, etc.  I would like to just a simple answer to the question.  If I use the recovery discs, it will recreate the partition recovery with all the info, she was in it when I got to the computer?  Once the recovery is completed from disks, will be that recovery partition be there as the day I got the computer, so if I wanted to (I don't want to, but I'm just a question) I could still create the recovery of her discs?  Basically, the computer will be exactly as it was the day I got it home, recover partition and everything?  Or, it will restore the computer to the new plant, but not to re-create the recovery partition with everything she had in it the day I got it?

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, it will be if you select the correct option.

    See these videos:

    http://en.community.Dell.com/support-forums/software-OS/w/microsoft_os/4794.21-Windows-8-restoring-from-recovery-media.aspx

Recovery of factory - "deletes all data and resets the Partitions.

Updating of the factory - "Only restores the System Partition and keep other Partition content".

It might be good for you to ask a Windows OS DVD 8.0/8.1 just in case the recovery media works however.

  • DELL INSPIRON 2320 - Natural Wireless Laser Keyboard 7000 - default value is | Caps lock | WE (turned on) in all fields of password

    Hi y ' All

DELL INSPIRON 2320 - Natural Wireless Laser Keyboard 7000 - default is Caps Lock ON (active) only when the cursor is in a field of password.

The game of keyboard mouse 7000 is great.

However, when the cursor is in any field/bos where a password must came me in, CapLock default value (setting) is ON or activated.

    • This only happens only in a field/area requiring a password to enter... but it happens each unique time, any application or what connection Web site password field I can be located anywhere on the Internet.
    • Again, this is only a problem when the cursor is in a password field.
    • This (setting) can be reversed that, when the cursor is in an area of password, default (setting) will be | Caps Lock |  STOP =?

In the BIOS settings, I only find a selection of NumLock setting.  In Centre of keyboard and Microsoft mouse, the only setting that I can locate offers the choice to enable or disable the use of the Caps Lock key... entirely.  So, when turned on, the default value is lock shift = WE only in a password box.  Know, I is not no accidentally redundant; I repeat this case specific to the question in order to stress that this is the only time only this question.

Like most people, I have to enter the password often. This problem occurs if the "remember me" or "keep me logged in" is selected.

    It's much more irritating.

Thank you for your considerations and possible solutions, if any.

This past Christmas, I got a Dell Inspiron 15 3521 touchscreen. Recently, I took it to his laptop computer case to find that the screen was cracked. It was not a crack in the external display. If you run your fingers on the screen, it's smooth, but there are visible cracks and a section of the screen that the office does not appear, but only an odd mesh of white and black with some other colors included in the section. I looked up the screen replacements and I found a detailed description on YouTube showing how to replace the display in the Dell Inspiron 15 3521. He was a link in the description of spare parts. That would solve my problem, but I just have a question: my phone is a touch screen and I am not sure if the replacement screen is a touch screen. I want to be able to use my laptop up. If it includes the ability to touch, I want a touch screen replacement. I'll post a link to the site with spare parts. Please respond and tell me whether or not it is tactile. If this isn't the case, please leave a link to a screen touch screen replacement. Please help me on this. I'm the kind of person who will lose sleep if I can't be sure. Then either create a bootable installer or install OS X on USB and then copy the installer it, boot from it and run the installer with the SSD as a target.
