• Cable Micro SATA Desktop Inspiron 3050

  I see in many forums that others are looking at adding a 2.5 drive "to the PC Inspiron 3050 (office computer) as much as I am. The problem is that this is not a standard SATA cable, there is a cable "Leap" (shown on page 46 of the maintenance manual).

  Reference Dell parts & accessories help says that cable is available if you order the 3050 with 500 GB drive, but this isn't an option to select right now.

  Has anyone found another cable that works? Or anyone know if Dell will it make some usable/replaceable by the user, we can order the upgrade/add a disk 2.5 "SATA later? Or part number, we can order? Or possibly provide a close-up on the cable and that it connects to the leap card so I can see if I can make one?

  OK time for some good news.

  First of all there is a blog that some of us use to discuss this machine here.  I highly recommend reading, its full of information.

  Now on the cable.  We have a winner!

  This is the model of the cable that will work with this machine and the drive:

  You can buy them on eBay for around $14 shipped.  Here is a link to one.

  You must make a change on the cable in order to make it work!

  Using a pair of scissors, cut the two pins plastic little at the end of the Ribbon Envy 17 main pay-per-view cable, you can not miss, only two of straight line simple cuts in order to have the ribbon cable hang properly and deep inside is SATA tape on the Council 3050 and Voila! Make sure to take the white support little outward with your fingernails or a small screwdriver.

  Its really a shame that we must buy some 3rd party cable HP on eBay in order to make our Dell products work 100%.  Its also a shame that we had to take the time we hunt, test and find a solution (we thank tornado4u2 immensely for).

  I'll post my own results once I got my cable I bought yesterday.

  Office 2007 can certainly read/write on the SSD of 1 t. You can set preferences to use any drive you want to store the files.  Look in tools > Options > files (at least that is where he is in Office 2003).

  You can check to see if free LibreOffice or free OpenOffice take less disk space to Office 2007. They all have two read/write the .doc files that Microsoft Office can open so there is no problem of compatibility. They write in their own custom file formats, you don't have the file is saved as a .doc or .docx if you expect to be opened in MS Office.

  I have OpenOffice on a laptop and LibreOffice on another. They work well, although LibreOffice seems to be more active in updating and adding features.

  You didn't say what antivirus software you use, but some of them are space hogs so that you could see if Microsoft free Windows Defender (8 Win, Win 10) or Microsoft Security Essentials (Win 7) take less space.

  Thanks to Adhocergo & others for the useful info. I replaced the 32 GB SSD with 128G. No problem loading Win10 10240 since a key USB from Dell. I then updated online of 1511. Everything works great now, except the "external" SD drive does not. I obviously lost the driver for this device. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated!

  Hi, I was wondering if anyone else keep getting the err = 3050 message? I tried to download the new album from Skillet, Unleashed, after I bought on my iPhone 6s, but I won't let me download them on my Mac. Anyone else having these problems? What else can I do to fix this?

  I would be certainly willing to listen to a new album on my computer or iPhone.  Especially after the purchase.  There are a few things to try.

  Even if the message does not correspond exactly to the top, we will check the steps here: If you see "There was an error downloading your purchased music" when you try to download music from iTunes - Apple Support

  It is possible that there is antivirus software or security prevents the download.  Try these steps and let us know.

  If that doesn't show Windows 10 when you open it, and then click change and select Windows 10 in the menu drop-down.

  The drivers, you need to download are full feature software and drivers.

  Remove all the existing drivers and the software of the printer.

  Install the new software of HP but have the printer unplugged and it do not connect until the installation program invited to do so.

  After the installation is done and you reboot, you should be able to use your printer without problem.

  I moved into an area of network connected to fiber (NBN Australia) and installed a new router D-Link DIR - 850L.  I was unable to connect to the router using WPS.  I had to buy a HP Envy, which connected wtihout difficulty.  I just upgraded my router to a TP - Link Archer C9, with a richer control interface, so I tried again to connect my Deskjet 3050.  Once again, no luck.

  I read a number of posts about this, and they all back down to the re-use of your installation of the printer software.  The problem is that the software driver for OS X El Capitan comes from Apple and is already up-to-date. I am able to run the printer when it is connected by a USB cable, so if I could work out how to emulate an installation, I might be able to get connected.  Is it possible to do this?

  Sorry for jumping in, but the steps in Mac OS X are in fact incorrect.

  In System Preferences, select Printers and scanners.

  Double-click the listed USB printer, and then select the printer settings / Options.

  Open the Utilitiy tab, and then click Open Utility.

  In the screen, select Convert to wireless and follow the on-screen instructions to connect the pritner to your wireless network.

  Note: If no option appears, click the top phone menu and select Connect a new printer, and then follow the steps by choosing a wireless connection.

  After replacing the black cartridge the wrong printer aligns the chops from the top of the page and forget the lines print. I tried all the recommended soplutions. Even the alignment page has half of it missing, so is not recognized by the printer. Even if printing from my computer or just copy.   I see that you have problems printing.  I would like to help.

  I would recommend downloading it and using the HP print and Scan doctor.

  If this does not resolve the issue, I would say uninstalling the software of the printer.

  Once it is uninstalled, I suggest you put your system in clean boot mode in the configuration of Microsoft.  You can do this by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.

  Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would like to reinstall the HP printer install wizard for Windows.
