Inspiron 5150 HD upgrade problem

HD crashed so I replaced with the wd 80 GB drive.  During the installation of windows xpsp2, I get blue screen crash.   When I run hd dvd player test also shows primary and hd as secondary.  How can I change this.  If this has nothing to do with the blue screen of death?

  • Inspiron 1525, Ram upgrade problems

I am trying to upgrade my Inspiron up to 8 GB of RAM, but when I try to run it with 8 GB, BIOS refuses to finish loading. Replacing a stick of 4 GB with the old 2 GB stick, running to 6 GB of total RAM, it works fine, but not with the two sticks of 4 GB with a total of 8 GB. I am running the latest (I think). A17 BIOS revision for my laptop. Anyone know how can I get the whole 8 GB work?

    You can check the following:

    Is your i1525 a

    1. a 64-bit processor

    2. an operating system to 64-bit (OS)

    3. all 64-bit drivers?

If Yes, then it is strange, it

Run the BIOS and the operating system with 6 GB but not

    with 8GB.

It cannot be the operating system if you do not

a 64-bit for Win Vista Home Premium 64-bit instance.

You have a Dual Boot (2 BONES) or not?

If this is not the case, the problem must be in hardware.

I want to test 8 GB of RAM on my i1525, but before you buy

2 x 4 GB of RAM I want to know if the i1525 can handle this amount.

A17 is the latest version. What the BIOS is displayed

When you run with 6 GB under the tab "memory"?

What kind of error (code) only the BIOS

display with 8 GB? I understand it stops and freezes? If this is not

give all an error code? Have you tried

all combinations: module 1 4 GB in support 1, module 2 4 GB in Jack 2.

Module 2 in 1 support and module 1 Socket 2 and so on

with 1 2 GB module in the module socket 1 and 1 from 4 GB to take 2.

    Windows Vista (64-bit)

    • Ultimate: 128 GB
    • Company: 128 GB
    • Company: 128 GB
    • Home Premium: 16 GB
    • Home Basic: 8 GB
It is absolutely a limitation of i1525. On the other hand: almost all sources
said on a maximum of 4 GB if your i1525 successfully managed 6 GB!
It's 2 GB above the max Dell says it can handle.
You can check with Piriform Speccy, Belarc Advisor and PC Wizard 2012 how
your 2 GB and 4 GB modules are managed by your i1525.

  • Replace the Inspiron 5150 HD and the choice of OS

The hard drive comes with my 3 year old Inspiron 5150 (30GB internal, 4.2 K, Toshiba) died finally: smileysad: and I learned a lot from other threads about the types of replacement players, etc.: bravohelen:

The laptop came with Windows XP Home and I've upgraded to SP2 some time ago. Now that I have to start with OS, applications, etc., I wonder: would it be better to re - install Windows XP or Vista on the new HD loading? I guess that a new operating system may require new applications, too, no? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

  • Recovery hard drive Inspiron 5150

I have an inspiron 5150 years that was damaged (liquid spilled on the keyboard and the monitor will not come), so I put it there to gather dust.  However, I recently discovered that there is a very important or the files on the hard drive and I wonder, I can remove the hard drive from the Inspiron and install it machine to another, all too archaic (Vostro 200) = to access its content?  I have a new laptop, but don't want to "Tinker" with it because I use it for work, so the old box is all I have.

So I can remove and install or what is the best way to do it for someone other than having someone who knows what they do for me?

    Thank you.

  • Inspiron 15R 5520 Memory Upgrade problem

I have upgraded my laptop from 4GB to 12GB (4+8). After the upgrade, the laptop boots and runs very very slowly. My laptop came with 4GB ram 1600 single stick. I upgraded the RAM by adding another stick of 8GB same bus and same manufacturer. The BIOS shows the total memory as 2288MB instead of 12288MB. Windows detects total RAM of 12GB but boots and runs very slowly.

I have updated the BIOS from A06 to A07 trying to resolve the problem but with no luck.

When installing each RAM stick alone (4gb or 8gb), everything works fine, but the issue comes back again when both sticks are mounted together even when switching the places on the sockets.

  • HD on Inspiron 531 upgrade problem

I have recently updated the second hard drive on my Dell and can't seem to format entirely.

The computer is a Dell Inspiron 531with an AMD processor running on Vista. I updated drivers for the devices so they are underway. The original confirmation was 2 x 250 GB HDDs giving 500 GB. I kept the original drive with the operating system on and changed the second drive for a Toshiba DT01ACA200 2 TB drive. I initialized the disc and used the "new simple volume" Wizard to set up. Now it shows as being healthy (primary partition).

When formatting the disk, via Vista's disk management software, he refuses to go beyond 54%. I also tried a quick format, but it doesn't - it says "windows could not complete the format". I also tried to use a program called HDD low level format tool, but which shows IO errors after working for so long. I would say that it is the second disc, I got that I returned as defective when experiencing very similar problems.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Can I use the same RAM?

Where should I get one?  What is used in CPU?

It should work; It's quad-core processors that require a different motherboard.

The original cooler must work, the old thermal paste is carefully cleansed and applied new compound. (Arctic Silver is a popular choice).

  • Blutooth 365 is not found on Dell Inspiron 1545 with upgrade to Windows 7

I had a 365 blutooth on my Dell Inspiron 1545 running in Windows Vista. I've upgraded to Windows 7, and now Windows 7 can not find it. It is activated when I pass by the system put in place... How can I find it on windows 7? When I push the button on my keyboard it turn on and off, I see the symbol but the symbol does not appear in the taskbar.

    Hi Andieb102,

Check if your bluetooth is listed in Device Manager .
If it is not, you see any exclaimation mark on this subject?
The first step I would have you to do is to run the Hardware Troubleshooter .

    Step 2:
Because the Dell 365 bluetooth adapter requires no additional software after the upgrade to Windows 7 (it should do this automatically). In the event that it fails to update itself automatically, I suggest that you uninstall and reinstall the bluetooth card.

Uninstall the bluetooth device manager card drivers and reinstall the same.

    To uninstall the Device Manager,

    1. click on start, type device manager in the search box of start and press ENTER.
2 locate the device and expand the same.
    3. Select the bluetooth adapter, right click and select uninstall.
4 restart the computer, if prompted.

Pilots should settle automatically after the computer restarts.

Note: Before uninstalling the drivers from Device Manager, make sure that you have a backup installation files.
    Step 3:

Sometimes, once you upgrade your operating system, some services will be disabled automatically. I would like to you can check if ' Bluetooth Support Service ' is disabled. If it is disabled, enable it.

You can find this service by going to:

    1. start
    2 Control Panel
    3. Administrative Tools
    4 services
    5. Select 'Bluetooth Support Service' and set it to automatic.

  • Portege 7020 bios upgrade problem.

I have a Portege 7020 CT with docking station. For a year and a half I can't update my bios. The problem is that when starting the floppy (as in instructions) drive my docking station is almost all (floppy drive) is turned off. Or I couldn't upgrade through Windows Millennium Edition.
Someone at - it had similar problems? And you have any ideas to solve the problem?

    Hello

as far as I know, you need to remove your Portege. Plug the AC and connect the floppy drive. Laptop must be in boot mode and not recovery mode, and remove any PC cards.

Then insert the prepared BIOS disc (create it as described in the manual) and boot from the floppy.

    Then it should work!

    Try and keep me posted.
