Inspiron 8600 upgrades

Certainly, I have not read all the posts yet but need to start with an update of the graphics card...

I found a site that showed the Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo mounting in my bench...  I see a lot of buzz around this map...

Can I... available... cost...

They were available for this model (in a proprietary format).  You need to search on EBay for them now, very probably.

The only version of Windows, you can upgrade from XP is Vista. If you
want to go to the 7, 8, 8.1, or 10, you must do a clean install,
    not an upgrade.

Note also that if you old computer same peut run a later version, the
the material on your XP - era machine is probably way underpowered to run a
newer version with acceptable performance. So moving to a later
version is not a good idea.

And another point: If you upgrade to a later version, you may need
drivers for it are not available. So before you do anything check
availability of the reader on the Dell web site.

Mr. Ken Blake, thank you very much for your quick response. I understand the concerns regarding an upgrade. So I continue to run the same Windows XP with SP3 until the machine functions

    Thank you very much

You are welcome. Happy to help you.

  • Can I use the reinstallation CD from 1 to my another 8600 Inspiron 8600

I have 2 computers Inspiron 8600.  1 purchased from Dell refurbished call it computer 'A' and the other was purchased new Dell call computer 'B '.  The systems are identical except minor differences of software.  I want to do a repair/reinstall on computer 'A'... but the CD of computer 'A' is stored.  I have the CD from the computer 'B' package... the new 8600 which includes the reinstallation CD.  I have the product keys for the 'A' and 'B'... I can use the XP Pro CD reinstall computer 'B' on computer 'A' for the reinstall/repair?  If you are prompted, should what product key I use?  I was not sure if the CD were somehow specific unit.  Thank you very much...

    Miguel_T,

You should be fine using the disk on the other computer. I don't think that you will have problems. You can use the product key for the drive that you use to install on the computer.

  • Inspiron 8600

I am currently looking for a new HARD drive for my laptop Inspiron 8600.  Reference Dell sales wants to sell me a WD 160 GB drive, but I have read in the forums here that only a 120 will work.  I currently have 80 GB which is running out.  I found a WD 250 GB for the same price as Dell wants to sell me a 160 for but I am wary to buy it and then not be able to use.

Also how it will be difficult for the new disk image, including the Dell Diagnostics partition (which is invisible under Windows XP Pro SP3?

  • Install the new hard drive on the Laptop Inspiron 8600

With the help of people on this forum, I installed a Scopio 160 GB ATA - 100 Mobile Hard Drive just purchased from Dell on my Inspiron 8600 HD.  I tried to install Windows XP with the Dell reinstallation CD, this origianally came with the Inspiron 8600.  Installation starts, runs for awhile and then informs me that there is no hard drive.  I tried to reinstall the Hard Drive - the same thing.  I tried to install the Dell CD Drivers and Utilities - same thing.  Anyone have any ideas where to go from here?   The system has recognized my old HD, but in 5 or 10 minutes or the BSOD appeared.  Diagnostics Dell CD indicated that everything was ok except the HD.  I'm assuming that the HD is not installed correctly, it is the bad HD or it does not.  I appreciate the help.  No software is not supplied with the disk ATA Scorpio.

  • Inspiron 8600 Dell screen-for 1 to 30 seconds then dark

My dell inspiron 8600 screen goes out after 10 to 30 seconds.  When it is connected to an external moniter I get what would be on the laptop.

I also thought that I bought an extended warranty when I bought this fast response, which is the little explanation of how this works.

  • Iintermittent Black Screen on Inspiron 8600

I have a laptop Inspiron 8600, Windows XP.

For two weeks, I turned the computer to see a flash of a normal screen and then a black screen.  I can always connect (with the black screen) because behind the dark is always a low view of my office and the login screen.  If I force the computer to the Hibernate and turn back on, eventually the light comes on and stays on. (This may take from 2 to 20 tests!)  However, he can tease me in the process.  A normal screen could appear briefly from 1 to 10 seconds and still go out.  However, when the normal screen finally lights up and remains, it will remain on until I have shut down the computer.

In fact, today, I closed the screen without shutting down the computer and 20 minutes later I opened it - it was dark again.  (but now I have the normal screen once again, so I send you this message).

Also, I think that I can get to the screen to see if I have the cord attached, but then I can run the computer on battery afterwards.

This has happened for two weeks.

I have read a number of threads on the same topic, but I think mine might be a little unique.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

  • computer crash? hard drive failure? Inspiron 8600

Inspiron 8600 running windows xp home girl had a blue screen at startup, first of all to say that there was a mistake of ACB, while the integrity of the system was not good.

She ran the dell diagnostics, and he repeats that integrity was not good.

She decided to try and reinstall windows xp, using the original disc that came with the machine. He traveled part of the plant, has entered the "copy files" and then says that ntldr is missing. I tried to help him, but we kept getting the same message. Someone told us that it was a defective hard drive, so we ordered a new one from dell.

new hd came; She has installed. He told her she had "plenty of space" (according to her) empty on this subject, so she didn't put in the installation disk and exactly the same thing happened - the integrity of the system any good ntldr and mssing.

It wasn't the hard drive? What is memory? (I think it has 256 mg of ram (although it could be more), and it was working fine until a week ago.

I do sort of it by remote control, since she doesn't live in the House (and the computer (is)

In the newly deployed GetWindows10 application, there is an option to 'Check PC' - when I chose this option on my Inspiron 14z, I get:

This PC can be improved, but there may be some problems.

These devices are not completely compatible with Windows 10

AMD Radeon HD 7570 M (with an icon beside it bluetooth?)

These devices may not work properly after the upgrade

Bluetooth Server (with the same bluetooth icon)

I am not inclined to be updated if it will translate into problems with my screen OR my bluetooth. Any change that Dell is going to release updated drivers to solve these problems? Other options?

Unfortunately, we received no list of systems Dell will make drivers for installed hardware.
  • Dell Inspiron 530 upgrade

I think I'll eventually replace the CPU, motherboard and RAM. However, I expect comments on this better replacements to keep the same power in the short term. I want to just update for children, so high-end is not necessary, but if the price is right, it would be better. I think my biggest concern is the USB/sound/etc ports front. Currently, I think that it is running a 305 w power, and a PCI-e x 16 video card.

Are the connectors for these propritary Dell or will they work with a new motherboard?

Does anyone know the Council size max will take the case and the motherboard (ATX/mini-ATX/BTX/etc) what is? I thought it was an ATX, but I thought I would check when obtaining the size max able to adapt...

    greywolf79

The Inspiron 530 MT supports a card mother Micro-ATX.

You may be involved with the rear i/o Panel, Dell has integrated this into the back panel of the chassis, retail motherboards have separate I/O panels that fit into an ATX chassis, you must change the case, through an opening in the Dell chassis for it.  You can find it easier to buy a standard ATX case.

Dell OEM windows not with a copy card mother not Dell, because it is related to their BIOS, prepare to buy a new copy of windows, or Microsoft license.

Dell front cables and connectors have exclusive features.

I had an Inspiron 530MT since 2007 and to improve its performance, updated the processor to an e8400, contributed to the maximum our RAM, installed an AMD 7750 graphics card and a primary SSD [that makes a big difference] and recently upgraded to Win 7, to win 10.

  • Dell Inspiron 530 upgrades

Hello, this is my first post on the Dell forums. I have a Dell Inspiron 530 with these specs: Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 2.20 GHz, 4 GB of memory at 800 MHz and a GeForce GT 610. It's the mid 2007 530 model. I have an extra CPU laying around, Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600. I wonder if I can use in this office. Also, what is the maximum amount of memory that I can install in it? Thanks for reading!

You should check what version of motherboard.

The Inspiron 530 has two variants of motherboards, made by Foxconn and based on the G33M series.

The G33M02 supports up to processors Core 2 Duo and the DG33M03 that supports the processors Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad.

Inspiron 530 systems sold with Pentium Dual-Core or Core 2 Duo processors cannot be upgraded to Core 2 Quad processors without adding at least a 350W power supply and swap the motherboards to the DG33M03 version.

The G33M02 does not support processors Core 2 Quad is because he has 6 ICs, the DG33M03 voltage regulator has 11.

Note: Before upgrading the processor, make sure you have BIOS Version 1.0.15 or a more recent version, when support for the new Intel processor has been added.

The Foxconn G33m02 [Dell P/N ORY007] motherboard, supports a maximum of 4 GB of RAM DDR2, 530 Mini Tower with a Foxconn G33m03 motherboard systems can support 8 gb (4 x 2 GB modules).

530 s Dell 'Slimline' systems have a Foxconn G33m02 motherboard which only supports a maximum of 4 GB [either4 x modules of 1 GB or 2 x 2 GB modules].

Note also for Windows to recognize 4 GB more memory, you must have a 64-bit operating system installed.

It is possible that you don't need a Windows XP installation CD. Assuming your laptop has a hidden restore partition, you can use the program "PC Restore by Symantec" from Dell. For more information, see page 73 of this manual:
