Inspiron HDD failure

I have a Dell Inspiron 15, I think that the model is I15RVT-3809BLK.  The hard drive has failed.  At startup, the message is something on the media failed, and when booting from the disk HARD diagnosis test States that no hardrive is installed, or something close to that.  All other diagnostics test good.  In fact, I took out and reconnect the hard drive and double checked, still the same problem.  So, I'm sure that the HARD drive is not good.  It's my laptop girls, so nothing of real essential worth the cost of recovering the data.

My dilemma is this. It's still under warranty Dell, but I would rather buy a new HARD drive without having to wait indefinitely for warranty service.

I can replace the disk HARD makes me this several times. But this laptop is not an optical drive and the Windows 8 software is pre-installed and there is no product key provided by Dell.  So HOW can I reinstall Windows 8 when I replace the defective drive?

I basically need a Flash DRIVE with the software.  This should be available for free since I'm just fixing a bad HDD from Dell.

Can someone help me with how go about this?

Thank you!

Dell won't repair it themselves. Reference Dell just checks the failure to distance and sends you a new hard drive to install yourself. It takes a hard drive with windows and all the original software already installed. You return the defective hard drive in the same box. Dell generally requires a credit card where you do not return the failure.

I installed the update of windows the other day to return to find the catastrophic hard drive failure. I've never had problems with this computer before. I wonder if anyone has had similar problems. I lost a lot of work, the photos that I'm never going back.

Is it possible that windows update caused this hard drive failure?

    Hello

Windows updates won't cause failure catastrophic hdd. In addition, I would like to let you know that hard drives are mechanical devices with moving parts, so they are subject to wear and tear expected. It may possibly do not mechanically at a given time. However, most of the manufacturers branded their product with an average (usually supplied by total number of operating hours). But if a part is defective or there is some manufacturing defects, service life of the drive, a bit more in as little as a day.

Other factors are primarily external in nature. Mounted sudden power can cause a drive failure, as can cause fire or damage, as well as a number of computer viruses of water. Exposure to high levels of magnetism can disrupt the classic functions of a player, as well as net impacts. If dust gets in a car, it can become a catalyst for an eventual failure.

    Thank you.

  • Satellite A660 HDD failure

    Hi all
I've had the laptop for someone to look at.
The laptop model is TOSHIBA SATELLITE A660, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
This is not my laptop, I can't tell if the person has been using some software dengerous like spyware or any other, but I suppose that it is very likely.

+ WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? +
There is a problem with the HARD disk, a message all the time, SMART 'failure predicted on hard drive '. PC is running, but slow, and not always to start Windows. Has more no guarantee on the computer, the store where it was purchased no longer exists. I don't have a recovery CD and Windows is stored in the recovery partition.
The owner of the PC complained of strange noises from PC for a while, but I didn't hear myself.

    + WHAT I'VE DONE SO FAR? +
I searched the forums for an answer, but I have not found.
I tried to look at the HARD drive, it is stable, not loose and seems fixed correctly.
First thing I tried was the disk check, but it wasn't even to start. When I restarted the PC once I gave a chkdsk command, there was a black screen with info, it will start the process in 10,9,8... 1 sec, he stuck to 1 sec and never begun the process. After some time I left he thinks, PC off by itself (AC adapter / CC was pulged in all time).
I tried to find the computer, I brought to the factory settings, but it did not help. The problem is always present and laptop is terribly slow. BTW, I had to try twice, once there was an error: error F3-FFCC-0006, I discovered, that the error appears when the AC adapter / CC was missing, but it is pluged in all the time.
I brought the BIOS to its factory settings, which is probably not relevant.

    + WHAT I WANT TO KNOW? +
Is there a possible way to repair the HARD drive?
OK, I agree that I probably need to buy a new HARD drive, there is only one thing I would like to know. How can I get WIN7 installed without the CD? I know that I have the CD key and license, but how do I get the CD? I do purchuase CD from Microsoft? Purchuased of TOSHIBA recovery CD solve my problem?

    Thanks for any help.
I will appreciate it asap, cause this laptop is required by the owner of that an option to send the laptop to the service and wait weeks for some 'help' is not an option.

    > Is there a way to repair the HARD drive?

No, what you can do is to repair / fix the bad sectors on the HARD drive, but if there is a physical problem, it will not help

    > How can I get WIN7 installed without the CD? I know that I have the CD key and license, but how do I get the CD?

The key belongs to the image of Toshiba that I n t think that it will work to activate the system installed using MS Win 7 disc
However, you can download Windows 7 image of page Microsoft (google for it)
Then you can burn the image to disk using Nero or other burning application supporting iso burning and could use this disc to install Windows 7

Otherwise, you can order the Toshiba recover drive here:

I'm not very well if you'll be able to order the recovery disk for this series of portable m.
If it s not possible to order the disk of retrieving the page shown above, then you can use a clean Win XP disk and could download the drivers from the Toshiba driver page.

Replace the HARD drive doesn't have to be difficult, you can use a different sizes of 2.5 SATA hard drives as SATA controller is not limited.

  • Dell Inspiron 17R will not start

    Hey,.

My Dell Inspiron 17R laptop 5720 was working fine until today, she won't start now. I had a virus, but Avira seemed to clean it properly, so I thought everything is ok now, but after restarting my laptop I didn't even have the "Dell" screen more. I've been Googling this topic for hours, but no one seems to have this kind of problem. Most of the users get stuck after the POST screen, but I don't yet get there. I just press the power button and that's it - laptop starts, but doesn't show anything. 1 out of 10 times, I managed to start and it works perfectly, even restart Windows it works then, but once disable us it probably will start again for the next 7-8 attempts.

    Things I've tried:

-Remove the battery, hold the power button / stop for 60 seconds

-In the course of running Dell Diagnostics (regular and thorough mode) test - it detects no error

    -Commissioning with or without battery

    -Flashing of BIOS (A14)

    -Reinstalling Windows, even tried Linux

-Remove the strips of memory, trying to start with one stick (I had 2 x 4 GB) - will not change anything

It looks like a problem that does occur from time to time. It is a hardware or a software problem? Is there anything else I should try before sending it for repair?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi randomthings,

I appreciate for all stages of misjudged shootings.

I recommend you to disconnect all external devices. Turn on the system and check if there are codes of beeps at startup.

Given that the system turns after several attempts, it may be due to poor nutrition or inadequate food, bad drive HARD or other hardware problem.

A poor, distressed or inadequate diet is often the cause of this problem. If the hard disk does not have enough power during the first time the computer starts, it will not be able to spin the platters of hard drive fast enough to start the computer. However, if you restart the computer, two, three, or four times, because the platters spin already, he is able to get the drive to speed and able to boot from the disc. Try with an AC adapter / CC known good and control; If the problem continues, I suspect it is a HDD failure.

Please, remove the HARD drive and turn on the system and check the status.

Please find the manual for Inspiron 5720 in the following link:

  • Satellite L305D-S5892 - Windows has encountered a problem

    Hello

    I have an I have a Toshiba-L305D-S5892
    With Vista Home Prem 32

I have a few problems and am currently blocked.

Each problem below, is a problem that I met after taking a few steps.

    * The 1st problem *.

A few hours ago my screen was frozen just after I tried to install this codec from microsoft, so the only option I had was to do a hard reset.
When my computer back on, I received this message:

Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.

This error may be cause of disconnect a device removable storage such as an usb external drive while the appliance is in use or by defective as a hard disk hardware or the CD-ROM drive which is a failure. Make sure that all removable storage is properly connected, and then restart your computer.

If you continue to receive this error message, contact the manufacturer of the equipment.

    File: \Windows\system32\winload.exe

Info: An unexpected I / 0 error has occurred.

I didn't have any usb device or removable in media.
I can only access my utility series at the beginning, which is this menu: hand-Advanced-display-security-Boot - out

    * 2nd problem *.

I opened my laptop and released the CD / DVD + RW, he started upward and now I get this message:

    For Realtek RTL8101E/8102E PCI - E Ethernet Controller v1.07

PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable.

PXE - M0F: Exit PXE ROM.

No boot device - insert boot disk and press any key

    * 3rd problem *.

I downloaded the NEOSMART repair Cd.

Once I'm in the System Recovery Options, it tells me to select an operating system. However it has not traded. If I press drivers to load, then a message tells me to insert the media, and then select drivers. I almost 'ok', and then am taken to explore, when there are a few system files and files (all empty)?

    I'm confused... any help?

    Hello

For me, it looks like a problem with the system eventually installed the HDD failures.
    Why?

Due to the issue described in point 2.
PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable error is displayed because the phone didn t find the installed operating system and try to boot from LAN.
This happens especially if the HARD drive was not recognized by the BIOS.

    My recommendation;
Access the BIOS and check if the HARD drive is listed there.
If this isn't the case, then you will need to replace the HARD drive and reinstall the operating system.

If the HARD drive is listed in the BIOS, then take a recovery disk and try to reinstall the OS again.
If you have no recovery disc, then you can order it here.
(I guess it's a Toshiba laptop model we)

  • HP Pavilion G6 HARD drive failed

    Hello

First of all thank you for help out me.

I searched the forums for how to do this, but for my situation, I can't find an answer. I'm ok with the technology, but by no means a tech guru... Here's what I've done so far:

    History:

My sister gave me her cell phone on the weekend and said that he cannot start Windows 8. So I tried a lot of things so he can start and have failed. I tested the hard drive and it says that there are errors on this subject. I tried to use a Ubuntu Livecd to capture data off and have problems, but I'll be able to get most of it.

    Problem:

I need to replace the hard drive and she never made the recovery discs. What is my best course of action at this point?

    1. Can I reproduce the hard drive failed on a new and hope the recovery partition intact? Restore from that?
    2. Can I install from disc OEM of Windows 8? I don't think I can...
    3. Can I get the key of Windows 8 from the BIOS somehow or I'll have to grab something like belarc to and hope that I can enter the key of the HDD failure?

Any other suggestions on how to do it? I rather just use an OEM drive with his key and install from scratch, but I need the key and I don't know if it will work?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

    There are two options available.

    1. you can order a set of replacement of the recovery media using the link below - it will reinstall the operating system, all the drivers, and almost all of the original software (the exception being often tests of MS Office).  They will also recreate all of the original scores, including the recovery Partition.

    Order HP recovery disks.

    2. If the laptop is originally shipped with Windows 8, the activation key is stored in the Bios Chip and is read automatically during installation, so you could create your own OEM of Windows 8 install disc.

For more information on how to proceed, see the post by Hüffer 3rd on the following link - Note: there is a cap of this Image file download you may need to try over a period of a few hours before the download starts correctly.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-hardware/need-product-key/m-p/2592099/highlight/false#M96668

With regard to creation of installation media for this file, here are some options.

If you want to create an installation disc, use an application like ImgBurn ( Note: you can deselect additional software during installation of ImgBurn offerings)- hereis a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc.

If you need a utility to create a flashdrive bootable for this Image, try the free app below.

  • Reinstall Windows 7 on hard drive again with only the Win 7 Upgrade disc?

So I have an e9180t which, like clockwork, freezes after about an hour or two after the boot.  I thought it might be the curse of bad mothers, with what they came, but I hope that it is something else so test everything I can.  I noticed that it does not freeze upwards when it is started in safe mode with network.  The hard drive failed the test SMART so I wonder if it's time to replace it as if that has anything to do with the crash.   I can move the cursor, but no applications will be open and eventually everything becomes insensitive causing be tohit the power button to restart.   I already stopped unnecessary startup programs and it will still freeze in unsafe mode.

The PC came with Vista and I think it's what's on backup hard disk partition.  I have the disk Win 7 Upgrade from HP.  My questons are-

    1. If I buy a new HD 7 upgrade disc will be enough to install the full version of Win 7?

    2. anything else I should do when I install the new HD and more to reactivate Windows?

    Thank you.

    Hi Mike,.

Have you created a HP recovery disk to reinstall the factory image when replacing the HARD drive?

It sounds like you have maybe a problem creating the recovery discs now.

A Smart HARD drive test failure points to a HDD failure. The symptoms you are experiencing are likely caused by this fact. You can also have a card mother or any other hardware problem.

You have the key to drive and Win 7 Upgrade product.

I'm pretty sure that the upgrade to Windows 7 to be launched from Win Vista. The upgrade of Windows 7 is a full installation of Windows, so this isn't the problem. But he can't run the installation unless you start the upgrade in Win Vista. Normally, an upgrade to Windows 7 is launched within the current operating system, Win 7 valid existence of an eligible OS Setup and then request a restart to complete the installation of upgrade.

You can replace the HARD drive and try to install Win 7 itself. If this fails and you do not have the Vista recovery discs, you can buy an HP recovery disc set here. There are three different versions. Select one that corresponds to the operating system that is installed at the factory.

You may have another problem to replace the HDD with a Format HDD advanced most recent. Please see thisHP Supportdocument for more information.

If you cannot install the upgrade Windows 7 itself or Win Vista because of the issue of the Advanced Format HARD drive, you may need to purchase a copy of Windows 7 OEM.

  • Error 1 full (305) hard drive with dv6-6119tx - is it worth to replace the HARD drive?

    Hello!

I bought the mobile entertainment HP Pavilion dv6-6119tx (QB365PA) in July 2011. The specifications are - processor: Intel Core i5 - 2410M, integrated RAM DDR 3 4 GB, HDD: 640 GB (Toshiba) operating system: Windows 7 Home Premium x 64

Since I bought this machine it has been giving me problems in time. First webcam died within the first 2 months, then the DVD recorder failed then it was the keyboard and finger print sensor. There were several problems with the installation of microsoft update. Six months ago, I replaced the 6-cell battery. I bought a costly maintenance contract for the second year, given the number of aging I met within the first year of use. Apart from the battery which was of course not covered under the contract, I had no other problems in the 2nd year. And just as this contract expired in August of this year I started facing problems, I got BSOD on two or three occasions. After each incident system booted normally and everything was fine except the Device Manager indicates problems with infrared devices consumers. The problem seems to have exploded on its own. Then since the past two months, my computer started freezing during startup and for initial 5-10 minutes. After startup. In this duration, I checked several times HARD drive health using the utility BIOS InsydeH2O repeatedly. The time required for the diagnosis seems to be gradually increasing with each analysis later but he still passed diagnostics. But today, when he sent 'Hard disk 1 (305) full' message and yet I am able to boot but with freezy start-up. Today, the system froze in the middle of something twice and I had to stop hard. When I ran Avast! It froze at 99% on detailed analysis. He struck the syswow64 folder file and showed an infected file.  I have run windows error checking-HD and it showed no errors.

    My questions are-

    1. what seems to be the problem? What is a HDD failure or infection?

    2. is it useful to replace the HARD disk if the problems are the result of HARD drive problems?

    3. I argued my sytem on external HARD drive, I can install Windows 7 on new HD, if get a?

4 system backup of files is only 274 MB in size, is this good?

    5. If I purchase the new hard drive has the same specifications and manufacturer as the current one or can I update? If I can update what are recommended replacements?

    Hi KlebersonofGun:

Thanks yo for your answer.  I send you a link to the Guide "Maintenance and Service" for your computer, click here. Page 62 has a section on the replacement hard drive

You can use any brand of hard drive, as long as it fits the plug.

    I hope this helps.

  • HP G72-B53NR: replacement internal hard drive used

OK, so my laptop been gave me my best friend 3 years. I don't know exactly on the side '' Hunt of water-with-cash '' society (which means that my funds are not enough to buy anything). Very recently, my laptop has been slow and slow. After a particularly odd mistake involving my laptop power led is lit when it is off, and turning issues, I managed to solve the problem with what felt like luck silent. (I took apart and cleaned the circuit and temporarily disconnected a few things, including this small battery {on the advice of a website} thing) But since he works back, the slowness problem persists and become even worse (to the point where it takes forever to do anything) and despite my best efforts (and apparently Google as search engine :/) I couldn't speed it up. I entered the thing of the boot parameters by pressing ESC and F10 (I think) and has conducted an audit of HARD drive. The long and short, I think. I received an error message: hard drive 1 305 complete (or perhaps 303, it's been a while). I Googled that and said the error means that the HARD drive has failed.

So, I managed to acquire a compatible HDD for my laptop. The only thing is, he used (Seagate 500 GB 5400 RPM). I swapped it with mine (WD Scorpio Blue 320 GB 5400 RPM) and found a lot of nonsense, that I especially managed to remove. I had to download some internal things missing, such as a drive for letting me use the internet. But despite all this, the used HARD disk feels 'off' and there are some issues that do not seem to solve. That is on the system information screen, it lists the computer model (HP Pavilion dv6) precedent and said that my side needs to be updated. He failed in this attempt. I also can't seem to complete the configuration of a service pack update. (During the "service pack configuration", he partially stops and says "failed to Setup service pack reverting of changes") I ran to check the HARD drive for this one and I do not receive an error. I can't find solutions for these issues online. I think that the problem is caused by the fact that the HARD disc is always set to the original computer, in addition to having a different copy of Windows 7 Home Premium. I would like to remove Windows 7 from this HARD drive and replace it with the factory my laptop OS HDD failure. I saved everything I want personal folders from my old HDD, so I'm not worried about it. I want to know also what else could I do to format the replacement used to correctly set up for synchronization (best word I could come up with at the time) with my laptop.

If there is anything that I need to provide but missed or left I will on request.

Microsoft has pulled all the .iso Windows 7 images he used to host m6mobile.fr from the web. They also asked us not to post a link to downloads so I can't do it for you. But an ingenious thrifty person who understands where downloads will surely be able to find someone hosting the old pictures .iso 'somewhere' on the internet. To help you as much as I'm allowed to do, is the official name of the download for Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit OEM:

    X 17 - 58997.iso

You can burn the .iso to a DVD and use it to install legally on your laptop by using the product key on the sticker on the laptop, or maybe inside the battery bay. You can get the drivers from this site.
