Install the DSO on platform SSD

Oracle 11 g 2 on Linux.  Trying to learn how to implement ASM on a Cloud Computing environment.

In my local Setup, that's how I did:

A single disk for OS

Two disks for ASM

A single disc for FRA

TOAL of 8 disks with RAID 1 put in place.

Now, I intend to switch to the RDS of AWS cloud, where the SSD is used.  What are the general methodology to implement ASM on the SSD?

In the schenario of the disc, I can easily understand that there are two disks to use, and then add another pair with RAID 1 applied.  Now it's the SSD.  Should I when even two SSD to implement ASM then add another 2 to apply the RAID 1?

Thank you for helping.

Yes, it will be same. You must have 2 drives.

Thank you

  • How to install the s/w for GR 11, 2 single-instance database grid

    Hello
I have a single instance node. I want to install grid s/w to use mainly the restart function. I do not use ASM. Is it possible to use the s/w without ASM grid infrastructure?

    Hi Olivier,.
    Welcome to the Forum...

Oracle ASM is installed with Oracle restart, but the DSO is not mandatory to use with Oracle Restart.
You can use the Oracle restart without installing the DSO.

During the installation of network infrastructure, choose option: grid software Infrastructure only

After installation, you will be asked to run root.sh at the end of the run the root.sh script will report a procedure to configure only Oracle Restart (for stand-alone server grid Infrastructure)

I would like to get the extended to the second node (rac2) ASM instance and of course, continue with creating a database instance. How can I accomplish this?

    Thank you!

    Hi orafun,

If you have not yet created the database, change the Oracle SID in the profile should be good even without effect. However, I usually comment to create a database using DBCA without having set an Oracle SID - but maybe it's just my personal preference.

In addition, because you used a TAR Ball "deploy" ASM on the other node according to my suggestion, you might want to make sure that the Oracle home on the second node is registered in the inventory of the Oracle. You can use opatch lsinventory on the respective node to verify that. And you can use the YES program to add the node / host information to the inventory. The Oracle Documentation will help you - watch in the Oracle Clusterware Admin guide under cloning.

    Hope that helps. Thank you
    Markus

  • Slow startup after installing the SSD because gray screen

I just installed a Samsung Evo 500 GB SSD in my Macbook Pro 2010. I went to start and it starts very slowly due to a gray screen just sat there for about 30 seconds and then it shows the apple logo and it takes another 15 seconds to load. The gray screen did not appear before installing the SSD but the Apple logo did take longer to load with the HARD drive. I used SuperDuper to clone my my SSD HARD drive and installed the SSD and it starts normally. The only issue was the gray screen. I've heard that I need to go into system preferences and select Startup disk, then my boot drive, but there is no choice. Help, please.

I would be grateful all the tricks for installing the ssd drive in my Tecra!

    Hello Paulo

As far as I know that some models are available with drive HARD and some with SSD these models with SSD have small SSD support. SSD is fixed by 4 screws in this medium.

I put t really know how to help you now. Maybe you should contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. I think they can check the part number of this door - or maybe order one for you.

  • Satellite A500 PSAR9E. Someone tryied to install the SSD to conn JSSD?

    Hello!

Now my satellite A500 is completely disassembled and I am looking for what is inside and what is possible to upgrade. The most interesting for me is jssd connector on the bottom of the motherboard.

This information was already mentioned on toshiba American forum but has not ended.
It's someone who's been tryied/successedid to install the ssd drive to this place or this connection is physically disabled by the BIOS of the motherboard?

And including this interface mSATA 1.8 inches?

I myself want to try this connection if I find this ssd or the usual sata interface cable.

If the micro SATA port is available on the motherboard, the interface should work.
But there is a question open about the BIOS. If the BIOS would not provide support for the micro SATA, then new SSD connected would be not recognized
However, I have not found useful information on BIOS support...

    Hello

  • G62 - 219CA: possibility to backup/clone recovery Partition just before installing the new SSD?

I'm considering buying an SSD of 256 for my older G62 - 219 CA.

I can sort of back up or clone JUST the recovery partition, so when I install the new SSD I can put back them there and have this convenience for later use?

I can't close my b/c the entire hard drive SSD will be too small in relation to the original drive.

Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    ToddNS

It is not really possible to save or to clone the recovery partition. Your best option is to create the support of HP recovery using the Recovery Manager or to order HP media to DVD - Windows 7 64B doublespeak (Office 2010) + Supp 1 Recovery Kit.
