Install Vista on frial Windows 7

Our time ran out to Windows 7 and I want to install Vista Ultimate but error code 0 x 80070017 comes up and cancels the installation.  I need help to make it right, I don't have a complete operating system, can anyone help, help, help?                confused and angry

You need a license for ultimate operating system Vista FULL to do a clean install, not an upgrade license.

If you have a FULL license vista, here's how to do a clean install:

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

Super Guide Windows Vista Installation

After installation > go to the website of the manufacturer of your computer/notebook > drivers and downloads Section > key in your model number > get latest Vista drivers for it > download/install them.

Save all data, because it will be lost during a clean installation.

  • After re-installing Vista: error message "Windows doesn't detect any hardware networking".

On another thread Microsoft Answers, I was advised to do an "inplace upgrade" to Vista to solve a problem I had with the opening of Word documents.

I followed the instructions but was unable to do the upgrade in place of Vista.

(The 'Upgrade' option has been blocked during the installation process.  And there is no other choice available "Troubleshooting", even if the directions had mentioned that this could be an option.  There is no workaround solution mentioned about how to proceed where it upgrade when the 'upgrade' option has been blackened.)

This fixed the initial problem that I ask.

  • Cannot install Vista Service Pack 2 (or closer to Windows 7)

Intel Core 2 Due CPU 8400 @ 3.00 GHZ w 2 GB RAM running (Windows Home Premium 64-bit).  Service Pack 1 is installed.

Buy windows 7... tried last month upgrading Vista however the updater doesn't install not service pack 2. (KB948465).  kept trying to install it but would get to the end and fail, and then seeks to restore to the previous version and I would then have to start in safe mode.
Spent the last day trawl through all instances and followed each piece of advice out there, but still no joy.
Manually install the update for Windows (KB947821).  Uninstalled all antivirus & anti-spyware (AVG & Norton were both running).  Ran System File Checker & Windows Install CleanUp and say that everything is OK.
Each reboot the computer in order to start the installation it restarts.  must select Safe mode with network... so going directly in "installation of the Service Pack: stage 3 of 3" arrives at 100% complete but then message comes up saying "Service pack do not have. '"  Restoration of the changes.  Do not turn off your computer. "Then"Configuring updates"and then to the normal login screen.  When I connect and go update history it reads "Windows Vista Service Pace 2 for x 64-based systems (KB948465).»  Details of the error 8007043 C Code.
I then followed the instructions to install from the original DVD however after several hours I finally managed: 'the upgrade has failed.  your previous version of WIndows is being restored.  Do not restart your computer during this time. »
Looking around and we found a lot of people with this issue but no solutions.  Don't know what I can do now?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Best,

    Tom

Uninstalled all antivirus & anti-spyware (AVG & Norton were both running).

I just noticed the above your first post. You had AVG and installed NAV and loading at startup? What were you doing thought? Not surprising that SP2 or Win7 upgrade would not install!

You must have an installed AV 1 and loading at startup. Chances are that AVG or Norton worked properly.

    You have 2 choices:

    1. back up your personal data (of which none should be considered reliable) and then format the HARD drive and do a clean install of Vista. or...

    2. make a "custom (Advanced) installation" of Win7 and then delete %system%\Windows.old <=this> . Do not even think to transfer the data from Vista to Win7. ~ Robear Dyer (PA Bear) ~ MS MVP (that is to say, mail, security, Windows & Update Services) since 2002 ~ WARNING: MS MVPs represent or work for Microsoft

  • Impossible to uninstall, play or install Halo 2 for windows vista

One time, I tried to install Halo 2 on my hp laptop. It had windows vista 64 bit (I now have windows 7). It installed, but when I tried to play it, it says "this program requires Microsoft windows vista or Microsoft windows 2003 server" and wouldn't let me play. So I tried to uninstall it. He says that it uninstalled, but when I looked, it was still on my computer. So I tried to uninstall it using ccleaner, and he gave me the same error message when I tried to play it. I went through all the files and deleted all. Then I tried searching for it in the start menu and nothing came, so I thought that I got rid of him. But when I tried to install it again, he said that the program was already installed... so I checked under the control panel and of course, he was always there and I still couldn't uninstall - play - or install it.

Hey, thanks for your info. Yes, I tried both methods and it was always on my computer. I tried to install it anyway, but it would not even read the disc. He said "the files are missing or damaged in the installation directory. I'll just forget. In any case, thank you for your time and your input.

  • Has managed to recover from the infinite loop restart Vista SP1 "configuration updates stage 3 of 3 0%"- but Windows Update always wants me to install Vista SP1!

WIndows Update asks me to install Vista SP1. I did and got into the infamous infinite loop of SP1 (infinite loop ' configuration updates stage 3 of 3 0% "with Vista SP1). I used F8 to repair my computer, and I chose a restore before the SP1 update point has been installed. The restore point has been applied successfully, so I have the computer in the back. Super. However, Windows Update wants me reinstall Vista SP1. Needless to say, I am reluctant to do so. But I want to be aware of the Windows updates. What do I do? TIA

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. right click on the file that you saved in # 1 above and select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    4. right click on the file that you saved in # 1 b above and select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    5. ensure that the http://support.microsoft.com/kb/955430 and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821 have been installed. (If they were, they would belong to installed updates. If they don't, try to manually download/install.
