Install Windows 7 without Dual Boot

Is there a way I can install Win 7 on a separate drive XP without entering the bootloader Win?

I would choose which system to start using the start menu in the bios (F12 on my Dell 4700).  The underlying need is to remove the need for my spouse to have to deal with the boot loader menu.

BIOS on this system has an option to change the boot order of drives.  I have not tried to use it, so I can't be sure it will work, but the result is that I could could move the new SSD to the top of the order.  If this has been done before the installation of Win 7, it would be enough to win 7 auto loading on the SSD without the boot loader?

Or is it necessary to turn off the player XP is running from?

You will need the Boot Manager.

What you can do is the default operating system that you would like him to start when she wants to use the computer and set the timer for 4 or 5 seconds. Then he starts immediately to his OS of choice.

Otherwise, I would buy him a laptop.

Click Start, right click on computer

Click on properties

Under control panel home

Click on "advanced system settings".

Go to the Advanced tab

Under Startup and recovery, click settings

In the default operating system list, select an earlier version of Windows

Change the time for the list of OS to 4 or 5 seconds.

Click OK

Then apply and OK

  • How to install windows 7 in dual boot on Satellite M840?

    Hello

I've had this laptop M - 840 a week ago, pre-installed with windows 8. I can't replace the operating system with windows 7 as most of my Win 8 incompatible applications. I'm tired of clean install - does not work. I created a NTFS partition and tried to install win 7 on the new partition, but this isn't just beyond 'Windows startup screen. Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    >. I'm tired of clean install - does not work

To install Windows 7 on the laptop of Win8, you must change some settings in the BIOS.
First of all, you have to disable startup secure in the BIOS.
Second pass of the UEFI BIOS for the CSM and save the changes.

Now you should be able to install Win 7

But before doing this, I recommend that you create the recovery media (Flash disk to USB memory or recovery Toshiba

Download and run the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool:
    Download the tool: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=56062
Post your results (copy button) and paste the results in your answer.

As a starting point, the first thing you should check is the section to three figures on the number of product ID, if it corresponds or is included in one or two digits of the examples below, you have probably a MSDN or TechNet product key. "These keys must not be sold for retail use.

    065 066 067, 068, 069 to Ultimate, box 220 for professional and 230, 231, 232 area for Home Premium,

There are probably others, but they should be close to those that are displayed"
(How to be certain - download the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool listed above).

Note: Though that illegally sold MSDN/TechNet allow product key for activation of more than one
(usually 5 or 10), so these keys can be sold "several times" before activation may fail.

  • Removal of partition of Windows 7 from Dual Boot Windows 7/8

I recently installed Windows 8 on PC from a parent, because it's the upgrade $ 14.99, uncertain about whether my parents would be as W8, I decided to double it start alongside W7.  However, my parent loved W8 and he now uses as its main operating system.  My problem is, how safely get rid of the partition of Windows 7? Try to remove it cause the laptop to be unable to boot because it seems that the boot files are still on the W7 partition.  Is there a way to make the W8 the 'boot' partition, perhaps by creating / copying the boot somehow files?

Solved, here is how I fixed it in case someone else runs into a similar issue:

1 installed and run EasyBCD on Windows 8

2 open the BCD Backup/repair and C: set as default boot drive

3 used Minitool Partition to delete the partition in which Windows 7 has been installed and extend Win 8 partition on unallocated space

4 restarted, Dual Boot screen appeared, though there is only a single OS installed, so re-opened EasyBCD on Windows 8 and remove the entry from Windows 7 in Dual Boot menu

Note that this is a VERY good idea to keep a Windows 8 installation disc/USB on hand at any time during this procedure, in case something goes wrong.

  • HP Envy 17: Clean install Windows 10 without upgrade.

    Hello

First of all, I am very happy with my new HP laptop first, it's amazing!

Now my problem. The laptop came with 8.1 Windows preinstalled with a free upgrade to Windows 10, however, I want to do a clean install Windows 10 without going through the process of upgrading (or would defy a 'clean' install), without additional software (I have already downloaded all the drivers and software from HP Web site) and I wanted to make the installation of the driver/software myself.

Now, I had the key OEM with software, however...

I read several threads related to this problem, the recommended steps were required to use the creator of media, but that won't install it Windows 8.1? I know that I coud after upgrade, but I wanted to avoid this step

In any case to create support for Windows 10? If I clean install 10 Windows with a retail key, I'll lose the built in recovery?

Thank you very much for your kind attention,

    Best regards

    Francisco

    To answer your questions:

    (1) MS media creation tool: Activation in Windows 10 - Windows help offers several options: to upgrade this PC now, create installation media (download the ISO file), create an installation (DVD or USB) media.  Choose the option that suits you - understand that upgrading PC, this option does NOT create an ISO file or installation media.

    (2) lose the built-in recovery.  IF you ask on the resumption of Win8x HP - then Yes.  That no longer works after upgrade Win10.

    (3) retail vs upgrade and recovery: Version does not matter, you will lose HP Win8x recovery without worrying.

    (4) retail key - you get ONLY a touch of detail if you buy a copy at Win10 retail.  The version proposed for the free update does not product keys for activation.  You MUST install a version upgrade on top of an existing installation of Win7/8/8.1 so that it will activate.  If you install directly from media Win10 Upgrade, starting from the media and did an install clean, not only will win 10 then NOT activate, right now, it will NEVER activate.  MS talking about providing an option IN THE FUTURE, to allow people to enter a Win7/8/8.1 existing product key - but this feature is not present today.

  • Can I switch from Windows XP to Windows 7 by installing Windows 7 without uninstalling XP?

Original title: improvement of the operating system.

Can I switch from Windows XP to Windows 7 by installing Windows 7 without uninstalling XP?

Yes, and in fact you must do in order to qualify for the upgrade price.  You must realize, however, this update of XP to 7 involves a "custom installation" - that is, you must save your data first (on external support) and to reinstall all your applications after that Win 7 is running.

Under certain circumstances, installing Windows 7 might create a windows.old file, but it's not clear to me what is stored in memory in the transition from XP to 7. you will certainly be able to run one of your older applications without having to reinstall them.  See, for example, http://www.chron.com/business/silverman/article/Going-from-Windows-XP-to-Windows-7-It-s-not-1609463.php

  • I can install Windows 7 without initially providing the product key?

Peut I install Windows 7 without initially provide the product key during installation?  I'd rather go once the installation is finished, I just have to copy and paste it in the email like that.

    Hello

Yes, you can try a free key of Windows 7 Installation. But be sure that you enter the product key to activate Windows wihtin 30 days grace period. Once the 30 days grace period end your system will go in any safe and you may need to reinstall the copy again.

Unlike Windows Vista, if you si vous achetez buy Windows 7 DVD you get specified edition disk and installation you will not get an option to select the edition. Almost to the last step of the Installation, you will get the opportunity to enter the product key that you can jump and try to enter the product at the time of the Activation key.

  • Windows Vista Ultimate: SP1 CD can not install for me to Dual-Boot 7 and Vista

    Hi I'm new here.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate on my computer. I have 3 drives, F: reserved system, C: (where Windows 7 is on) and blank D: 20 GB Partition.

I am trying to install Windows Vista, so I can dual-boot, but I get an error code saying that there is not enough disk space on my F: reserved system, but I try not to install it since their, I try to install from the D: drive.

So I tried another way, I Booted from the CD, and Setup continues. But, when I clicked on my D: drive it says it cannot copy files when going from 3%.

    Question:

    1. I did a wiped fresh clean installed Windows 7 Ultimate, and it created a partition of 100 MB. What's causing Windows Vista to install correctly?

    2. If Question 1 was the problem, do you think I should wipe my entire C: drive and erase the entire disk for Windows Vista to fix itself?

  • Acer Travelmate 7750 G freezes completely using Windows or Linux (dual boot). Need help please.

The problem is that the machine freezes completely without apparent reason, on all operating systems, I tried.  "Freezes", I mean there is no reaction to the mouse movements, keyboard presses and start button / stop pressed off the coast.  The gel seems to be at a random time and may occur even when the system is idle.

The Acer Travelmate 7750 G laptop came pre-installed with Windows 7 and it kept freezing.  The machine has been updated level of Windows 8, 8.1, 10, then dual boot with Linux Mint 17.3.  The machine froze on all operating systems.  I have tested software hard drive, memory, CPU, GPU and they all managed very well.  Is it someone who has knowledge about how to resolve or others troubleshoot this please?

  • Using Windows Xp and Windows 7 in dual boot

    Hi all

I'm new here because I like your forum for quick answers.

Yesterday, I installed windows 7 on my laptop and Windows Xp added today.
I want to have a dual operating system, so I can choose where I want to work.

The problem is that Windows 7 is not available but only windows xp.
I read it beter to install xp before 7.

    How can I manage now?
Should I do a fresh install for Win 7?

First of all it of Nice to hear that you like this forum, I love him too ;)

    Back to your question;
You can use Win 7 and Win XP together!

First of all, you need to install Win XP.
You then create a second partition for Win XP.
Then, you need to install Win XP on the second partition.
But it could damage the Win 7 Startup Manager and you will be able to choose only to Win XP.

This can be repaired. You take a disc of Windows 7 (not recovery disc! Win 7 disc should be) and have to boot from that disk it will repair Windows 7 boot disk

Now, you might start in Win 7.
Here you need to install a tool called EasyBCD. It s a Boot Manager tool that helps you to the entrance of Win XP to Windows 7 Boot Manager

After that two BONES; Win 7 and Win XP will appear in the Boot Manager.

    Welcome them
