Install Windows alongside linux systems

Hi I have a computer that has run with windows 7, but I bought a new 128 GB SSD (the original is dead) and I tried several Linux systems after I couldn't reinstall windows because I need to buy, linux has a very nice way to install more than one copy on the same computer, I tried a few of these systems , as a programmer, linux help me lot to learn one or two tips, now I intend to buy a copy of windows 8 but without deleting my other linux system I use for 2 years
I have the following questions...

-If I buy a copy of windows, can I reinstall in my computer several times? I want to say if I remove it, I can it reinstall several times

-I don't have a lot of disk space... on windows 8 will work with only the 20 GB it asked in the minimum requirements or is the size of the windows installation, linux uses only 2 so 20 looks so much like, I only 40 GB of available

-It will work on my computer? I have a processor clocked at 2.6 Ghz intel core i5, 6 GB ram and intel hd 3000 graphics
Thanks in advance for your help

A license, a computer, you can reinstall as many times as you like on the same computer. Of course, you can remove and relocate if you wish.

-I don't have a lot of disk space... on windows 8 will work with only the 20 GB it asked in the minimum requirements or is the size of the windows installation, linux uses only 2 so 20 looks so much like, I only 40 GB of available

Yes, you can, but it's the bare minimum.

Yes, I suggest you more that meets the requirements, you create a larger partition, although, at least 60 to a 100 GBs. You must prepare for future needs such as applications, software, updates etc.

    ·        What is the exact error message that you experience when the system hangs during the installation?

I suggest you to disconnect all external devices that are connected to the system such as (printers, scanners, etc.) and see if the problem is resolved.

This occurs mainly, if the system (hardware or software) is not compatible with the operating system that you are trying to install on the system. I suggest you to format the partition in which you try to install Windows Vista, and then check if you are able to install the operating system or not.

Original title: MS Office programs do not open after installation of Windows update to Windows Vista operating system

After having decided to install the Windows Update my computer told me was available all my software as my programs MS Offfice is no longer open.  I don't know what to do.  The only thing that still works is the Windows Media Player.  I can't open Word or Excel, I can't access my photos.  Open Internet Explorer is like a weird nightmare but I am able to access the Internet.  I tried reinstalling my MS Office software, which did not work.  I have no idea what to do to solve the problem, but I need my computer back. It was good except for its slow, when I open certain programs, now I can't access something.  Any ideas what I should do to correct the nightmare?

  • How to install Windows on my system? Currently it is under Ubuntu.

I need to get windows xp or vista

I need to get windows xp or vista on my acer aspire 5315 right now, ubuntu operating system is installed

You use the manufacturer's recovery system to reinstall the original Windows. -If the partition on the disk was destroyed when you have loaded Ubuntu (very likely), then you will need to use the disks, you must have created when you got the machine, or a set of discs, you can order from the manufacturer.

    Hi mlzla,

No, if you do an upgrade on the spot, you will lose any program. The on-site upgrade process will take around an hour or two. It is very useful.

I hope this information is useful.

  • Satellite A200-23W: problem installing Windows Vista

    Hello..

I now that this topic is discussed several times before, but after trying many solutions of the forum and some of my only, I reached a level that it makes no sense...

First off I would like to explain what I do for a living, it has to do with IT and that is what makes it even more tempting for me.

2 days ago a friend bought a Toshiba A200-23W. The first thing I always do when I buy a new laptop is to format it and install a clean Windows operating system.
After my first attempt, I realized that I have to install first the matrix storage driver.

I downloaded the driver from toshiba place related to my model. (Intel Matrix Storage Manager - 7.5.0.1017).
I created a usb key with the required driver files:

    iaAhci.inf,
    iaAhci.cat,
    iaStor.inf, iaStor.cat,
    iaStor.sys, and
    TxtSetup.oem

in the folder (F6flpy) of the (Intel Matrix Storage Manager) you can copy them to the root of the USB stick.
When the form "Where you want to install windows" windows Vista appear I select load the driver, and then by clicking (Browse), I select the USB drive as source for my drivers.
The (Intel(r) 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller) will automatically appear as a choice and by clicking on the (Next) the process of the pilot installation begins.
    So far so good..

    Here's where things get complicated...
When Vista back to the form "Where you want to install windows", even my system has 2 x 200 GG HDD only 200 GB HARD drive appears in the list...

Selections of 'New' Partition, or a Partition of 'Delete' are disabled.
and even when I click 'Next' for selected HD a windows message:

"Windows has no determine if this computer contains a valid system volume."

    I'd appreciate your help...

    Thank you in advance...
    George P.

    Hello

You cannot format the HARD disk or delete the partition because this would remove the SATA driver too, and the HARD drive would not be recognized by Vista!

Therefore, you need to install the OS on the HARD drive that is displayed in the installation program.

How to install windows 7 OEM System Builder Pack on my own hard drive?

    Hey rcseng.

You must perform a clean installation of Windows before installing the OEM System Builder Pack. Prior to this, download and install the preinstallation OEM (OPK) Kit which is included in the OEM System Builder Pack. You can also download the Microsoft Web site OEM preinstallation kit.

Here is the link to it:

  • E.M.P. 11.1.2.2 under Windows or Linux

    Hi Experts,

Which environment is best for the EPM, Windows or Linux system?

I want to run below the products based on your opinion...

    1. Oracle Hyperion Shared Services
    2. Oracle Hyperion Planning
    3. Oracle Hyperion Essbase
    4. Oracle Hyperion Reporting and analysis (financial reports)
    5. Oracle Hyperion Financial Management (HFM)
    6. The Oracle (FDQM) Hyperion financial data quality management

I would like to run all above products either on Windows or Linux (not mixed mode)

    Your comments please!

HFM & FDQM are not supported under Linux because they are Windows-based products. Check the Support Matrix: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/oracle-hyperion-epm-system-certific-131801.xls

You can go to Windows if you opt for 1 single BONE for the rest of the EMP.

I have a linux operating system and I would like to remove it and install windows xp. I'm afraid that if I wipe the drive, I'll be unable to boot the windows xp disc. Is this true? What is the best way to remove the linux operating system and install windows xp?

original title: HOW I CAN UNINSTALL LINUX OPERATING SYSTEM

If there is absolutely nothing on the disk you want, just format the drive and install Windows XP:

    1. start from the CD. You may need to change the first boot to a CD device in the BIOS. To do this, when you switch on the look for a configuration message indicating what key to start typing, F2 and del are commonly used. The message appears for very long and it you miss, you have to restart the computer. In the BIOS, look for a section that contains the boot sequence, change it to CD, save it and let the computer to restart.

    2. the installation sequence is answering the message press any key to boot from the CD, and then press ENTER to set up Windows, press F8 to accept the EULA, delete the partition, press ENTER, type L to confirm delete, type C to create a partition, choose (Quick) format. Then begins the installation and restart will therefore ignore the subsequent message to press any key to boot from the CD-ROM.

    3. actual installation will begin and takes about 30 minutes. Finally, download all the missing Windows service packs and other updates.

  • System partitions and upgrade to Windows 7, Linux

Yesterday, I bought my first CV - ProBook 4515 s model with SLED 11 Linux preinstaled. Given that I'm not familiar with Linux systems first thing I did was to install Windows 7.

My laptop came with 4 partitions that is formatted in a file system that Windows does not recognize. I'm guessing a partition for installing Linux, two of them are system (HP_TOOLS and HP_RECOVERY) partitions and the fourth was just an empty disk. So I formatted the fourth partition and installed Windows 7.

The problem is now that I am out of system partitions, so can not access other software preinstaled and QuickLook. I tried a single partition format and rename it to HP_TOOLS and then tried to install QuickLook v. 3 but the facility reported that my system has not been supported? I don't want to mess with the other partitions in the fear that I could remove the BIOS, but want to sort this mess up and would certainly like to have some of the options that is is installed with the system.

    Any suggestions?

Message edited by Martine on 14/10/2009 14:07

I think that the HP_TOOLS and HP_RECOVERY partitions are formatted as ext2 or ext3 file system, Windows cannot read. It can only read NTFS and FAT32. There is no way I can think to convert the ext2\3 to NTFS without keeping the integrity of the system. In addition, the files are all intended for linux and not Windows. He has makes no sense to do that. That said, I'm not sure if your laptop has Windows 7 drivers now.
